Sens Closing in on a Coach

After as many as seven interviews and a search that began almost as soon as the season ended, it appears as though Bryan Murray is closing in on his selection for the next head coach of the Ottawa Senators.  With Kurt Kleinendorst now finished his season, Murray can complete what is believed to be the final interview.

A decision could come as early as the end of the week.

For the first time in 38 years of professional hockey, the city of Binghamton is home to a Champion! The Binghamton Senators continued their dominance on the road in Houston tonight and in the process won the AHL's biggest prize.

Congratulations go out to head coach Kurt Kleinendorst, the BSens players and the entire city of Binghamton, New York. The Binghamton Senators are Calder Cup Champions!

As first reported by Marc Brassard of Le Droit, Ottawa Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson will have surgery on his injured back at some point this week.

Initial recovery time was projected at 4-6 weeks.

Countdown to Draft Day

In just 18 days, the Ottawa Senators will begin one of the most important days for the franchise in a long time. June 24 and the NHL Entry Draft is a day where Bryan Murray and his scouting staff have an opportunity to set the direction for this hockey team and add a number of quality prospects in the process.

Beginning today, the Sens are getting a closer look at a few of the players they have their eye on.

Post Trip Wrap-up

That really is the only word that comes to mind when I think about the last day and a bit.

Absolutely awesome time down in Binghamton this weekend and despite some last minute and perhaps ill-advised change to the plan, I think the trip was a resounding success.

Bingo Bounces Back

I called it a must win going in and the Binghamton Senators certainly played like it was. In what was certainly their best game of the Calder Cup Finals, the BSens scored a 3-0 win over the Houston Aeros and pulled even in the best of seven series.

The pivotal game five is tomorrow night in Binghamton and SensChirp and the RSU will be there to cheer them on!

A Must Win in Bingo

It may seem a little early in the series to be calling it a must win but it certainly has that feel to it for the Binghamton Senators. Trailing the best of seven, 2-1, the BSens need to find a way to break through offensively tonight against a stingy Houston Aeros team.

Puck drops at 7:05 PM.
