Free Agency Opens Tomorrow

(UPDATE 2:16 PM)- Another one of the top names has been crossed off the list of UFAs available as the Carolina Hurricane have announced the signing of Jussi Jokinen.  He would have received a few offers tomorrow but has instead decided to stay in Raleigh. There were some rumours suggesting Ottawa may have been interested.

Meet the Sens Prospects

Wednesday, 29 June 2011 09:13

Is Lalime an Option?

With the opening of NHL Free Agency now just a couple days away, teams around the NHL are getting set to open their wallets for what can best be described as a below average free agent class.  Brad Richards is obviously the big prize this time around and looks posied to cash in this summer.

For the Senators though, it appears as though the club will keep a relatively low profile when free agency opens on Canada Day at Noon.

Filatov May Attend Development Camp

With Development Camp getting underway later this afternoon, the Sens are suddenly expecting a recent addition to make it in time afterall.  Nikita Filatov, acquired from Columbus over the weekend, is hoping to be in Ottawa on Wednesday.

He was originally expected to miss the event.

(UPDATE 10:14 AM)- You can go ahead and cross Caps forward Brooks Laich off the list of UFA targets.  The rugged forward has signed a six year extension with the Washington Capitals.  Cap hit will be $4.5 mil.  Laich was believed to be one of the top UFA targets heading into July 1.

Next Up- Free Agency

With the NHL Entry Draft now in the books, the next date of interest is just four days away.  The NHL's free agent market will open July 1 at 12:00 PM and while the Sens don't figure to be huge players, they will try to add a couple pieces to the puzzle.

At the top of Bryan Murray's Wish List- Another forward who can play in the team's top six and a goaltender to back up Craig Anderson.

Interview with Shane Prince

The NHL Entry Draft has officially come to a close for the Ottawa Senators.  Can't say enough good things about the work Murray has done this weekend. He has managed to add four 1st round picks to the organization (including Filatov) and has kicked this rebuild into high gear.

An already bright future just got a whole lot brighter for the Sens organization.

(UPDATE 10:22 PM)- Sens take Matt Puempel at 24th

(UPDATE 10:08 PM) Ottawa will pick again at #24
