Sens Take 3-1 Series Lead

After a miraculous come from behind win like last night's, it's kind of difficult to put it into words.

When I left Scotiabank Place on Sunday night after the Senators scored a convincing 6-1 win over the Habs in Game 3, I was convinced I had watched the best hockey game I'd ever see.  Well on Tuesday night, the Sens may have topped that with their dramatic 3-2 overtime win.

Game Day- Habs/Sens Game 4

Tonight at Scotiabank Place, the Ottawa Senators have a terrific opportunity in front of their home town fans.

The 7th seeded Senators can take a commanding 3-1 series lead with a win over the Northeast Champion, Montreal Canadiens.  A loss and this becomes a best of three series with the Habs having a home ice advantage.  It goes without saying, but this is the biggest game of the season for the Ottawa Senators.

Ottawa Takes Control

With the series shifting to Scotiabank Place, where the Senators have been lights out this season, Ottawa knew they had a chance to take control of their first round series with the Canadiens.

And they did exactly that on Sunday night, routing the Habs to the tune of 6-1.  Rookie Jean Gabriel Pageau was elevated to the status of folk hero, as the Ottawa native scored three times and sending the home town crowd away with what will go down as one of the most memorable games ever played at Scotiabank Place.

Game Day- Habs/Sens Game 3

Despite missing out on a chance to take a 2-0 series lead, the Ottawa Senators battled their way to a hard fought split at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Now the scene shifts to Scotiabank Place in Ottawa as the Sens look to use home ice advantage and take control over their first round series against the Montreal Canadiens. And as you'd expect after a loss in Game 2, the Sens are expected to shuffle their line up a little bit.

Sens Come Home With Split

After the Senators shocked the Montreal Canadiens in Game 1, you knew the Habs would come out flying in the second game of the series.

Montreal did exactly that on Saturday night as they cruised to a 3-1 win. While the Sens would have loved to take both games at the Bell Centre, a split in Montreal is a great outcome for the Senators as the series shifts to Ottawa for Game 3 on Sunday night.

From a Reader- Growing Up Sens Fan

On the eve of Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal match up between the Ottawa Senators and the Montreal Canadiens, I thought we'd try something a little different.

This post was sent to me yesterday but one of our readers and I thought it would make a perfect day before the game post.  There are elements in his story that I think all fans can relate to, especially as the Sens get set to open a playoff series against a close division rival.  Over to you, sir!

Toronto's Overhaul

WRITTEN BY SENSCHIRP READER- Cooke-d, Alex C

Looking at the Leafs roster, a few things jump out at me. First, the team has only dressed 7 players this year that were drafted by the organization and all come out of just 3 different drafts.

Second, the Leafs has signed a lot of UFAs, including 3 undrafted rookies. Finally, it is downright confusing to keep track of the way this organization wheels and deals draft picks. After considering the above mentioned points, we’ll consider Toronto’s rebuild since the end of the 2007–08 season.

Playoff Video Tuesday

If you’re like me, you are starting to get a little antsy.  Still two days until the Ottawa Senators open their first round series against the Montreal Canadiens.

And while it will help to watch some playoff hockey tonight, and then watch the Leafs helplessly try to contain the Bruins tomorrow night, we all know the series that matters starts on Thursday night.  With that in mind, I’ve gathered a few videos to help pass the time a little bit today.
