Sens Steal a Point in Boston

The Ottawa Senators knew they were going to be in tough on Thursday night in Boston.

The Bruins picked up the extra point in the overtime session but you have to give the Senators credit.  They showed that even without their most talented players, they could hang with one of the elite teams in the Eastern Conference.

Update from the Rumour Mill

While the Senators have quieted the trade speculation with their impressive run of late, General Manager Bryan Murray and his staff will continue to keep a close eye on the market.

The Sens has won five straight games and find themselves within striking distance of top spot in the Eastern Conference as teams hit the 20 game mark.  Goaltending remains a strength for the organization but they could certainly benefit from an additional top six forward and potentially another defenceman to help replace Erik Karlsson.

Bishop Leads Ottawa to Fifth Straight Win

What’s that old saying about “good teams find ways to win hockey games?” It wasn’t pretty on Monday night but the Sens managed to steal two points from the Habs.

Fresh off being named the league's third star, Ben Bishop played his best game in the National Hockey League, steering aside 44 of 45 shots and 4 of 5 Montreal shooters in the shootout, leading Ottawa to a 2-1 shootout victory.  The win was the fifth in a row for the Senators.

Game Day- Sens Finish Homestand Against Habs

Fresh off a dramatic win over the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Ottawa Senators welcome another division rival to Scotiabank Place on Monday night.

The Sens close out a four game home stand tonight when they welcome Carey Price and the Eastern Conference leading Montreal Canadiens.  Tonight marks the third of four games between the two teams this season.  Ottawa scored a 5-1 victory over Montreal back on January 30th while the Habs returned the favour with a 2-1 win at the Bell Centre of February 3rd .

Greening the Hero on Saturday Night

Colin Greening played the role of hero on Saturday night, scoring a late goal to give the Senators a huge win over their provincial rivals.

Mika Zibanejad won a key faceoff late and Greening, who looked on from the press box the last time these two teams met, knocked home a loose puck with just 23 seconds left to give Ottawa a 3-2 victory. The win was the fourth straight for a Sens team that continues to find ways to win hockey games.

Game Day- Bishop Starts in Battle of Ontario

In the past couple seasons, the Battle of Ontario, once one of the best rivalries in hockey, has lost some of its edge.

With the Toronto Maple Leafs stuck in a seeminlgy endless run of mediocrity, it was hard to get overly excited about a vist from our Ontario neighbours. But this season, that seems to be changing. It should be an electric atmosphere at SBP tonight when the injury-riddled Senators take on the suddenly respectable Leafs.

Karlsson Addresses Media at SBP

Erik Karlsson spoke to the media this morning for the first time since the incident that ended his season.

Based on the comments from the reigning Norris Trophy winner, it’s pretty clear that he’s not quite ready to forgive and forget.  While Karlsson would not go so far as to say Matt Cooke injured him on purpose, he did say that Cooke “knew exactly what he was doing out there.”

Anderson Injured in Sens Win

Another night where the result on the ice was overshadowed by a scary injury to an Ottawa Senator.

The Sens came away with the win but the real story was Craig Anderson leaving the game with what the team is calling an ankle injury. Anderson had to be carried off the ice in the third period and could not put any weight on the leg. Anderson is considered "day to day".

Game Day- Playoff Rematch at SBP

The Ottawa Senators will play the second game of a four game home stand tonight when they host the sputtering New York Rangers at Scotiabank Place.

It will be the first time the two teams have faced each other since their dramatic seven game series in Round One of the Eastern Conference playoffs last season.  The Sens are currently three points clear of the 9th place Rangers.

Benoit, Dziurzynski Score in Sens Win

Much like Monday afternoon in New Jersey, the Ottawa Senators were able to win an ugly one, this time in front of the home town faithful.

Andre Benoit and David Dziurzynski each scored their first goals in the National Hockey League and Craig Anderson was his usual reliable self as the Ottawa Senators kicked off a four game home stand with a big 3-1 win over the New York Islanders.
