Wednesday Hodge Podge

If you're like me, the NHL playoffs P.O.S. (Post Ottawa Senators) have been anything but interesting.

I've tried to watch most of the games but find myself remarkably disinterested. I shudder at the possibility of a New Jersey Devils/Phoenix Coyotes Stanley Cup Final.  With that in mind, here's an assortment of Ottawa Senators news to get you through the day.

SensChirp in NYC

As I walked out of Scotiabank Place following a heartbreaking Game 6 loss to the New York Rangers, my mind began to wander.

Had I seen my Ottawa Senators for the last time this season? Could they really walk into Madison Square Garden and take a winner take all game against the top seed in the Eastern Conference? You're damn right they could and I want to be there to see it happen.

Crowded Crease in Ottawa

When goaltender Craig Anderson went down with a freak hand injury, Bryan Murray was forced to make a move to a shore up his suddenly suspect goaltending.

Murray snagged Ben Bishop from the St. Louis Blues and when Anderson returned healthy and ready to play, a perceived area of weakness for the Sens had quickly become a strength.  Ottawa now has three NHL-quality goaltenders that will fight for two jobs with the big club next season.

Tough Decisions on UFAs (Regin Signs)

(UPDATE 2:35 PM)- In a bit of a surprise move, the Ottawa Senators have announced the signing of Peter Regin to a one year/one way deal for $800,000.  Regin battled shoulder injuries for the majority of the season but will have a chance to crack the roster next season.

Waiting on Alfie

As the seconds ticked down at Madison Square Garden, I had a feeling I was watching a special moment in Ottawa Senators history.

With all the talk and speculation that has surrounded the issue this season, it really felt as though I was watching Daniel Alfredsson’s final game in the National Hockey League. And while he has yet to make a decision, Sens fans need to at least prepare for the possibility of a team without Alfie.

The Road Ahead

While the lucky eight teams remaining focus on chasing down Lord Stanley's Cup, the talk has already begun to shift for the 22 teams on the outside looking in.

With the NHL Draft just a couple months away and the start of free agency looming shortly there after, there will be plenty for Ottawa Senators fans to discuss in the months ahead.
