Tom Says...

As the NHL lockout hits day number 45, and with no resolution on the horizon, we are joined by Tom to get his thoughts on the lockout to date.

Like many, he's frustrated with the whole process and is trying to find other ways to fill the void left by the NHL.  Tom says he'll be back when the puck eventually drops but based on what I've been reading from fans, that isn't the case for everyone.  Take it away, Tom!

BSens Struggle Over the Weekend

After starting their season strong with three wins in the preseason and another two to start the regular season, Luke Richardson’s team has stumbled as of late.

The Binghamton Senators have now lost four of five games, including back to back games this past weekend in Portland and Manchester. The BSens are now off until this coming weekend, when they play consecutive away games against the Norfolk Admirals.

Melnyk Denies Sale Rumours

After rumours began to swirl that Sens Owner Eugene Melnyk may be looking to sell the Ottawa Senators, Melnyk was quick to dismiss the speculation.

In an email sent to the Ottawa Citizen yesterday, Melnyk simply stated, "I will never sell the Senators. Not a chance." Certainly comforting reassurance for the Sens fan base.

Wednesday News and Notes

When Ben Bishop arrived in Binghamton, the thought was the Senators may have an AHL goaltending controversy on their hands.

But when you look at the start Robin Lehner has had this season, it’s clear that Bishop is going to have play well to earn his ice time under Luke Richardson. Through five starts, Lehner has posted a 3-1-0 record, along with a 1.32 GAA and an impressive .954 save percentage.

Memory Lane- Share Your Sens Videos

The Binghamton Senators are off till Saturday and all seems quiet on the CBA front so I thought we'd try something a little different.

A couple readers have suggested we try this in the past so let’s try it out. The concept is pretty simple- I want you to share videos (From YouTube) of your favourite Sens memories and moments. All you have to do is post the link in the comment section and I’ll add it to this post.

Goalie Fight- Lehner vs. Helenius

While the result on the ice wasn't what Luke Richardson and the Binghamton Senators were hoping for, it was a goalie fight that had everybody talking after the game.

BSens goaltender Robin Lehner dropped the glove and blocker and went toe to toe with Riku Helenius of the Syracuse Crunch. Have to give the edge to Lehner in this one as he appears to land about three or four solid punches before the two fall to the ice.

BSens Fall to Hershey

After three straight wins in preseason, and then back to back victories to open the regular season, the Binghamton Senators got their first taste of defeat on Friday night- falling 3-2 at the hands of the Hershey Bears.

Binghamton scored twice in the third period but could not find a way to beat Bears starter Danny Sabourin for the equalizer. The BSens have a chance to get back on track tonight when they host the Syracuse Crunch.

(UPDATE 3:53 PM)- The meeting in Toronto has wrapped up after just over an hour.  The NHLPA in fact presented three offers to the Owners.  Bettman indicated that the NHL felt as though the offer made on Tuesday was fair and balanced and that the offers from the Union just didn't come close to what the League was looking for and were in fact a step backwards. Sigh.

BSens Move to 2-0

Following up on a 2-1 win in their season opener, the Binghamton Senators were every bit as impressive on Tuesday night, upending the Rochester Americans by a score of 3-1.

BSens goals came from David Dziurzynski who scored twice, including into an empty net, and defenceman Patrick Wiercioch who was making his regular season debut.  Robin Lehner stopped 32 of the 33 shots he faced for his second win of the season.

(UPDATE 6:32 PM)- Amid all the excitement over the day's CBA developments, there is still some hockey to watch tonight.  The Binghamton Senators are in Rochester to take on the Buffalo Sabres AHL affiliate.  The game is available on Team 1200 but keep an eye on the comment section for any streams that become available.
