(UPDATE 4:00 PM)- Some good news from Sens practice out in LA as apparently both Zack Smith and Kaspars Daugavins are on the ice for practice.  Still no update on their status for tomorrow but this is obviously a great sign. Da Costa and Petersson both with the club.

Game Day- Borowiecki Debuts in San Jose

Fresh off a come from behind win over the rival Leafs, the Senators will look to continue their strong play away from Scotiabank Place when they visit the power house San Jose Sharks.

Ottawa has picked up at least a point in ten straight road games, posting an impressive 6-0-4 record over that stretch.  Meanwhile the Sharks have just a single regulation loss in their last ten on home ice.

Murray Talks Trade Deadline

With the NHL trade deadline looming on the not too distant horizon, and the Ottawa Senators sitting comfortably within the playoff bubble, the discussion among fans had predictably turned toward the NHL Trade Deadline in late February.

In a rebuilding year, the Sens have been a pleasant surprise to this point and could be looking to add a piece for the playoffs. As Bryan Murray suggested, once you get in, anything can happen.

Alfredsson, Chara to be Named All Star Captains

The NHL will soon announce the Captains for the NHL All Star Game to be played in Ottawa later this month. 

It should come as no surprise but Daniel Alfredsson has been selected to lead one of the teams. The other will be the Captain of the defending Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins.  That’s right- former Senator Zdeno Chara has been selected as to select one of the teams at this year’s game.

Sens Claim Battle of Ontario (Regin Update)

(UPDATE 9:42 AM)- According to Ian Mendes, Sens GM Bryan Murray indicated that forward Peter Regin could be done for the season. He hasn't seen any improvement in his injured shoulder and it appears as though a return this year is unlikely.  Regin, an RFA at season's end, has not yet made a decision on whether or not he'll have surgery.

Game Day- Battle of Ontario

A night after an ugly home ice loss, the Ottawa Senators are right back at it against their provincial rivals, the Toronto Maple Leafs.

While it’s a rivalry that has faded a little bit in recent years, this is a massive game for both teams.  The Sens currently have a 7 point lead over the Leafs but have a couple games in hand.  Ottawa sits fifth while the Leafs are in ninth and just a single point out of the final playoff spot.

(UPDATE 11:02 AM)- With a lengthy road trip kicking off in Toronto tonight, the Sens have added some depth by recalling forward Andre Petersson and defenceman Mark Borowiecki from Binghamton of the AHL.

Game Day- Streaking Sens Return to SBP

(UPDATE 3:31 PM)- According to a tweet from @Rosenrasande, Andre Petersson will be called up from Binghamton and join the team tomorrow.  With the Sens about to head out on a lengthy road trip, they would like to have an extra forward incase of injury. Petersson has 25 points in 30 AHL games this season.

Sens Continue to Roll

The Ottawa Senators continue to find ways to win hockey games.

A red hot Craig Anderson stood on his head throughout regulation, turned aside all three Habs in the shootout and set the stage for another clutch goal by Daniel Alfredsson, giving the Sens a 3-2 shootout victory.

Game Day- Sens Visit Slumping Habs

After a massive win over the top team in the Eastern Conference, the Senators will look to keep their recent run going when they visit the slumping Montreal Canadiens.

The Sens have gone eight games without a regulation loss and are the hottest team in the NHL.  The last team to beat the Sens in regulation? The Montreal Canadiens back on December 27th.
