The Ottawa Senators may still be out of commission thanks to the NHL lockout, but there is still something for hockey starved fans to look forward to.
The American Hockey League’s Binghamton Senators are set to begin training camp tomorrow morning with players reporting for fitness testing and medicals. The on-ice workouts will begin the following day at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena in lovely Binghamton, New York.
A quick glance at the team rosters for training camp shows a number of players that will be of interest to fans in Ottawa.
On Team 1, you have the likes of Jared Cowen, Mike Hoffman, Robin Lehner, Shane Prince and last year’s SEL MVP, Jakob Silfverberg. There were some rumbling about Silfverberg looking for work in Sweden but as of now, that does not seem to be the case. Some games in North America will be great for Silfverberg at this point in his development.
Team 2 includes Mark Borowiecki, Andre Petersson, Mark Stone, Patrick Wiercioch and Mika Zibanejad. All five of those guys are expected to be in the mix for jobs with the big team, if the NHL can ever get the season underway.
In total, Binghamton will have 36 players at their camp.
Will have updates from the farm throughout camp and once the season gets going. You can check out the full training camp schedule and rosters here.
- The Ottawa Senators have sent information to season ticket holders regarding refund options in the event regular season games are missed. Fans are presented with two options; leave your money in your Sens account and receive 5% interest on canceled games or take a refund and receive an interest rate of 1.25% on canceled games. Fans are being asked to make a decision by October 15, 2012.
- Former Bingo bench boss and obvious candidate for a job at the NHL level has instead opted for the NCAA. Kurt Kleinendorst has joined on with University of Alabama-Hunstville. The team had a record of 2-27-1 last season.
Lehner in goal. Cowen on the blue line and Silfverberg up front. Solid looking line up.
Might have to get that AHL package!
Is it only online? And how much is it do you know?
Yup, believe it is online.
Details here...

Sent that request to your buddy about the PS3 league. Do you know when he's looking to start up by? If it's filled will he let us know?
Sorry for the gaming bander, last one..
As for team Bingo, for sure going to look into that AHL package looking at that line up.
Was talking with a pal about the "realignment" in the NHL. Does anyone know if that is still a possibility?
Imagine with our young core/prospects in a few years in this division???
Ottawa
Boston
Toronto
Montreal
Buffalo
Florida
Tampa Bay
Sens Domination!!!

You think thats a nice line up...try Hall and Eberle and Nuge in the AHL!!
Skinner is another one, many teams will have a much better team than Bingo guys...
Only 1 NHL player worth mentioning is Cowen and he wont have much of an impact on offense.
I think Landeskog is also going AHL, that or back to Sweden.

EEEEEEYORE !
why would you EEEEEEYORE getting the AHL package?
U Mad Bro?
Refund notice did not include prepaid parking info. They better be good for that too 'cause I"M STILL MAD AS HELL AND I DON"T WANT TO TAKE ANYMORE !
Remember what the lockout did to Spezza's career? He was in Jacques Martin`s dog house before the lockout. Then dominated the AHL during the lockout... and now we know the rest.
Hopefully, the same could be said for Silvferberg, Zibbanejad, Stone, Prince, Lehner and Cowen.
If the lockout lasts a whole year, I personally think we`ll have some surprisingly developped young talent by 2013-2014.
I'd still rather have NHL hockey this year. I know every cloud has a silver lining, and I see your point. However, the team was built for the NHL and having guys like Spezza and Karlsson playing in lower-tier leagues can't be too helpful. Also, how many guys won't get to play anywhere?
they need Kramer..he's all the toughness they will need.
Looking forward to Kramer but he is young probably will fall into dumb penalties by guys like Rinaldo. Scranton will have Macintyre too. Hands down the best heavyweight around right now.
I made the comment before, but is the PS3 league called that everyone is joining for the SensChirp? I know Chirp started his own Xbox league, but I saw some rumblings of a PS3. Looking to take part, I just bought the game.
As for the A, i can't wait. That lineup is going to rock. They will have some competition, but at least they will look good against them this year.
In the East, the lockout is good for Ottawa, Florida, Boston and Carolina in terms of developing prospects and bad for Tampa, NJ and Washington who will be losing out productive years of some of their aging vets.
Glad you applied, he's planning on starting it next week. As of this morning we have 10 teams. My PS3 handle is Jinwint. I applied to "chirpers" but have not been added as of last night!
To MethotToMyMadne ss,
I don't know of a official league for PS3, but there is one called "Chirpers", it has 5 members and, a buddy of mine is organizing a new League that will start next week. If your interested check out his add: http://ottawa.kijiji.ca/c-community-activities-groups-NHL-13-GM-Connected-League-Looking-for-GMs-W0QQAdIdZ416940859
As for real hockey. I'm looking forward to AHL but I'm exited about the 67s. I dont know if it's because I live five minutes from SBP but I've never been this pumped about the 67s.
This would be my lineup in Bingo this year & I would send all the smaller players to Elmira or look to trade some of them to upgrade where possible or stock pile picks. DD is on the first line for the same reason Greening was on the first line & to protect the two Swedes. Big, tough team who hopefully can also put the puck in the net.
Dzuirzynski - Zibanejad - Silfverberg
Hoffman - Grant - Stone
Schneider - Cannone - Jessiman
Cowick - Kramer - Downing/Hamilton
Cowen - Benoit
Wiercioch - Boroweicki
Blood - Gryba/Eckford
Lehner - Bishop/Lawson
Elmira - Da Costa, Petersson (SEL), Wideman, Peltz, Claesson (SEL), Caporusso, Chevrier, Capanale, New, Martin, Prince (JR), Pageau (JR), Green-eggs-&-ha m, Culek
That's just crazy talk! Half the players you want to send to Elmira would've been competing for the one or 2 open NHL jobs. No part of this makes sense, sorry.
I can guarantee that Da Costa and Petersson will be with Bingo..
Lol that is the worst line up I have ever put my eyes on.
If you caught Bryan Murray on the radio yesterday he told them that they want Zibby to develop as a LWer in bingo.
I see the lineup somewhat like this.
Zibby- DaCosta- Petersson
Silfverberg- Cannone- Stone
Hoffman- Grant- Prince
Dzuirzynski- Pageau- Jessiman
Hamilton
Cowen- Benoit
Weircioch- Borocop
Cleasson- Gryba
Eckford

#desperatetowatchsens
Shivers just thinking about it.
Great post Sandy! We will have to keep track of his points for him this year considering the players dont even know basic math.
This from a key source close to talks today...
"The key to this whole deal is the NHL grandfathering existing contracts.."
How the NHL allows existing contracts to be treated remains the single most important issue on the table. "By allowing those contracts to remain the same this CBA could be negotiated in 2 or 3 days..."
More to come.

Sadly, it is under the title of 'capital gains' , but I guess that's forgivable...

At least no harm was done by it and the guy thinks Alfie rocks.
Thanks bud, I joined. I'll be the LA Kings.
And you have a lineup of midgets & pussies who will get pushed around & beat up. You also have seven AHL rookies in your lineup, likely not gonna happen. While I recognize that my lineup also won't happen because the Sens are committed to some of the smaller forwards like Da Costa & Petersson, I just don`t want them in my lineup. I prefer a bigger, tougher team.
