(UPDATE 1:11 PM)- Greg Thomson from Sportsnet has suggested on Twitter that the San Jose Sharks are now out of the Nash sweepstakes. Long believed to be one of the favourites, word is they weren't willing to meet the asking price set by Howson. Interesting.
(UPDATE 11:56 AM)- Bryan Murray addressed the media in Pittsburgh this morning and indicated that the Sens are still involved in talks on Rick Nash and that the 15th pick has not been part of the discussions.
(UPDATE 11:50 AM)- Renaud Lavoie, who previously indicated the Sens were out of the Nash Sweepstakes, now suggests that conversations are continuing and that budget may the issue for Ottawa. He also tweeted that the Senators have had no discussions on Jordan Staal. No surprise there.
(UPDATE 11:34 AM)- The biggest issue on the Rick Nash front is whether or not he has any interest in playing in Ottawa. Teams like San Jose and New York are on his list but have yet to meet the Jackets asking price. Ottawa remains in the mix though.
FROM EARLIER
After a couple weeks of rumours and speculation, the big day is finally here.
The NHL Entry Draft goes tonight from Pittsburgh and Bryan Murray and the Ottawa Senators find themselves right at the centre of all the excitement. Rick Nash is the name you'll hear the most about today but there are plenty of other names floating around.
If the buzz around the team yesterday is any indication, I think Sens fans could be in for another wild one.
GM Bryan Murray has found himself right at the centre of a lot of the trade talk as he looks to address a couple of his team's most important needs. The Sens GM made it clear at his season ending press conference that a top 6 forward and another defenceman were priorities and he is actively trying to fill those gaps.
Rick Nash remains Plan A for the Ottawa Senators.
After the talk yesterday, I really get the sense this deal may be closer than some realize. The biggest unknown is where the Rick Nash and those around him stand on Ottawa. Is he willing to expand his list to include Canada's Capital?
Nobody seems to know that for sure.
And while Nash remains the focal point, the Senators are also very interested in adding another defenceman as well.
There are some options on the UFA market but the organization is also very high on Hawks blueliner Niklas Hjalmarsson. Despite what some have suggested, there is no deal complete just yet but the two sides are expected to continue talks today.
Plenty for Sens fans to look forward to.
I'll be posting updates at the top of this post, in the comment section, and on Twitter, so stay tuned. If you want to know when things will really pick up, I would guess sometime around 10:30 AM when I'm stuck in a damn Dentist appointment.
- With all the trade possibilities surrounding draft day, some seem to have forgotten about the actual draft. The fun gets started at 7:00 PM tonight and the Ottawa Senators are slated to pick at 15. Consensus seems to be that if they do hang on to the pick, one of the defenceman they have targeted should be there for the taking.
- Round 1 of the Draft goes tonight while the remaining rounds are set for the weekend. Ottawa has a couple of third round picks and is expected to use one of them on a goalie.
I would love to see something like
Foligno
Mika
Michalek
for
Nash
Seeing as they just moved picks for Bob...I can't see them still wanting one of our Goalies...unles s Bob is coming back...and no thank you. Apparently it is becomign about salary now...so I have a feeling they want to throw something in and we throw in a first....which Murray doesn't want to do as he has my Ryan suggestion there for the taking immediately following the Nash deal.
Which is
2012 1st rd
2013 1st rd
Prospect
For
B Ryan
and our Smith deal...and boom we are an instant favorite
*stretches luxuriously*
I wonder if because SJ is out, we'll be the only major player. If that's the case that's HUGE news for Bryan Murray. That is masssive for negotiations. Chances are Howsen went to SJ and said listen man, Ottawa is offering Zibanejad in their package, you absolutely have to include Logan Couture in yours or else we just can't make a deal. Now I'm sure as long as they can make the financials work they'll have a deal. Because in the end Columbus needs at the very least one big name asset coming the other way. From us, they like Zib, from SJ it's Couture, from NY it's DelZotto and from Philly apparently it was Schenn. So looks like were the only ones that are willing to give up that one piece that Howsen wants(as he should). The reason Bryan Murray is the only one? Well because were the only one out of all these teams that has more elite prospects waiting for roster spots.
One more point...if we don't have to give up our 1st in this Nash trade that would just be so huge for us. We could add either a really solid defenceman or what I believe to be an elite goalie about 5 or 6 years from now (Subban). That's so valuable for us right now
You would love to see that? Trading Michalek makes no sense as we would once again become a one line team. No way we land Ryan and Nash... Although you are right... We would be the favourites in the East immediately
Can't say that wouldn't be mind blowing... that was everyone's perfect storm for fire, wiping it on the wall, being hammered before the draft even starts, etc etc. Haha.
Howson says nobody is close, "they have ways to go yet"
But he gives up 3 picks for a backup goalie in Bob....
Howson is a mess.
I hate to state the obvious but the intention was that all of that happens, not just half. I would not want to move Michalek in a Nash deal either, unless we had a replacement lined up.
That would be mind blowing...
Of course I would love to see that...and trading Michalek if 2 minutes later we make that trade for Ryan(and I suspect Murray has had talks with them...there is absolutely no way he is being so open about Nash and then being so different about Ryan...he wants that kept hush hush)
How would we be a one line team???
Silf-Spezz-Nash
Ryan-Turris-Alfie
That is a absolutley rediculous two lines...and doesn't even take into consideration the bottom 2
I actually 100% agree with you Tookie. Howsen is a mess.
A better way of looking at it is what do we have left once a deal is made.
Even if we give up Zbad and Bishop (for example) as part of the deal we still have Lehner and we still have Noesen, Stone, Puempel, Silfverburg etc etc.
We are making it less likely to hit a home run with our prospects because we are reducing the number of tries we have, but we are in a great position, it's not like we are emptying the cupboard.
It would definitely appear that he's not the only complete tool around that's for sure.
http://blogues.lapresse.ca/stlaurent/2012/06/22/les-freres-michalek-bientot-reunis/
I like your thinking :)
@RenLavoieRDS
Flyers working hard to have better positioning at the draft, hearing calls made to ANA for the 6th...
Makes no sense, since its ANA 6 not philly, you are trying to say philly trying to get ANA 6th and Ryan for who Giroux
Taking Subban at 15 would be foolish. If we really want him, trade down to 25 or later. Heck, CBJ's 2nd rounder should be enough to get Subban.
My fridge is already locked and loaded. This would be stellar if it goes down.
"Bobby Ryan?...He plays for Anaheim? I don't know anything about him....other than he's a good player. I've not talked to anybody about him."
BM is lying through his teeth! As if he would have to ask if he plays for Anaheim lol
Take your shit and jet dude! At my work when nothing needs to be done you are sent home almost immediately.
Yeah got confused there, removed that last part. In lala land right now.
Ahh your work for the Gov I see...
Lol!
He should have just called in sick LOL
All the GM's are having their pre-draft nap!
Somethings going down, a big 3 team deal.
Murray: "Bobby Ryan? He plays for Anaheim? I don't know anything about him. Other than that he is a good player."
Makes me wonder plan B
Seriously though...Yesterday I could barely keep up with anything, and today nothing is happening. Seems very odd to me
Quoting Fail4Nail:
I don't believe it for a second.
rick nash
niklas Hjarmlsson
in sens jerseys.....
fingers are crossed lets send a message to the rest of the teams
"Senators willing to stay the course in building contender."
Yep. It's called counter-propaga nda. Absolutely.
With Nash/Ryan ending up in Ottawa....haha
Source? Other than your own ass I assume?
Lamb's Black Sheep Spiced Rum over here.
Guys chill out...people are really on edge because of all this and just shooting the shit
Source or keep your fantasies to yourself.
McDonalds sounds pretty strict...
You should NEVER debate cracking a Beau's. The answer is always YES.
Shame on you, sir.
If he does...don't worry his day will be worse.
:)
Will we need a third thread today?
Tim Thomas agreed to waive no trade...will he play or just be help to the cap floor?
Definitely! Let's not forget we have a draft to go through tonight! Can't wait!
I'll fess up, I went to get beers.
With the draft alone, I should think so! Doubly so for manic, ferocious, obsessive NASH updates.
Draught for the Draft?
If you love white trash beers like myself, you may have picked up a case of Keystone Light cans.
There is no booze on Earth I would rather drink, and it's a "discount" brand.
Can't wait to get 16 of those in my belly tonight, hopefully while going ON and ON and ON about all the insane, crazy, brilliant moves that Murray made today!
That was Burkey. Took him right after Crosby.
*runs off*
I am getting out of here soon to head home for some beers too. surprisingly got a lot of work done today while reading every comment on here.... Ahhh automated scripting, the art of getting a tonne of work completed without hardly having to do anything at all lol
Soooooooo.....I know nothing about hockey and Nash to ottawa it is???
@sensblog: Murray: trading any 1 of Michalek, Stone, Lehner is out of the question.
What are you talking about? Your shift starts when mine ends so I won't miss the draft tonight.
Nope. Murray would like to add a D but suggested there is nothing really close on that front. Would assume that includes Hjalmarsson too.
Have you tried it? It's awesome. I can afford to drink anything I want and as much as I want but that is the only beer I buy for myself.
Good news for us is that any offer for Nash now doesn't involve Lehner or Bishop !
Makes you wonder what their asking price is.
If that's true I'm glad. I understand the need to give up something to get something, but unless the return is massive I like holding on to these guys.
If Michalek plus our first got Nash or Ryan then do it (duh) but not as some random piece in a larger package.
Toews and Hammer....pleas e come home to me...
Great to hear!
Yeah...that trade still has me baffled...
But to his credit, we don't know what the picks are (besides the rumored 2nd). Could be 2nd, 6th, and 7th...Still waiting for those details :)
Really? Do I need to explain what I meant??? Or are you just screwing around?
I think BobbyMac confirmed it's our old 2nd plus two fourths.
ok this is starting to get ridiculous
let me get this straight
No first round pick
No MMP
No Stone
No Lehner,
equals we are not going after Nash,
what are we going to offer Spezza?
so it would be Foligno, Zibby and Bishop... alone?
Not happenning.
I did the same.
OH GOD!!! I THINK YOU ARE THE FIRST TO MENTION A SPEZZA TRADE RUMOUR!!! lol...i know you were joking...but it made me realized "600 comments and not 1 trade spezza comment!!" wow...
yes I was joking but that is so true, must be a record here on Chirp
Maybe Howsen is trying to drive the price up for Nash himself. Saying to Murray "Hey, if I had to give up 3 picks for Bobrovsky, just think what you're going to have to offer to get Nash!"
Man, I can't wait to crack one of these beers. Hmmm, why am I waiting?
I'm a Big Rig Rideau Red guy myself.
Ottawa has talked to a few teams today about moving up in the first round. But nothing imminent at this point
Wow, I would pay a fortune to have had the Sens war room recorded and played unedited later
In a self proclaimed rebuild where in one year we have so impressively jumped up to the playoffs where no one (but a very loyal few of us) expected it, we now want to expedite this rebuild bey adding a top 3 forward.
we are willing to give up:
Foligno (first round pick)
Zibby (first round pick)
Bishop (second round pick)
HMMMMM sounds very familiar to another team that tried tried to expedite their rebuild by adding Kessel for coincidentally 2 firsts and a second.
And many of the people that want this trade are the very same ones that crucified Burke for making that ridiculous trade.
Just an an observation to be careful what we wish for,
And again I love Nash but not at any cost either.
The only difference is that Burke gambled on the unknown (he didnt know where his picks would end up - he expected much later picks obviously)... while BM knows what he's giving up.
Can't wait for the draft to start & for my first drink of the day. Keith's is soooo good.
Oh and welcome back SpezzaFan19. It's always fun to read your comments.
We haven't had a terribly good first line since that arsehole left, pundits said last year scoring would be our problem. It wasn't but it hit us in the playoffs.
We can add a guy like Nash while still leaving an abundance of prospects across positions? I'd say do it.
Doubly so if it's to give Alfie one last great chance to hoist The Cup.
I've always thought he was a pretty good top 4, but very similar to Gonchar.
Ok so theoretically, if Nash, Bobby Ryan, and Yakupov are all Sens by the end of the day, and without selling the farm. Exactly how apeshit will you go?
*rolls on the ground laughing*
There is not enough beer in this city...
Good point, but I think the difference is that Toronto traded away 1st round picks (they did not know what players they were giving away...and they ended up being pretty good picks). Ottawa knows what foligno brings to the table (zibby not as much, but they have at least kicked tires on him).
I like foligno, but I like nash better. zibby nobody knows what his potential will be, so he's a bit more of a gamble (but in my opinion a decent smart gamble), and if they are planning on drafting a goalie (which is what it sounds like), than someone like bishop is expendable.
So it's not really like we are pulling a "toronto" and just giving away a bunch of 1st round picks...we "know" what we are trading away, and the result would be an overall upgrade considering that we are giving away quantity (which we do have), for quality (which we could use).
I'm not implying that I'm 100% convinced about Nash to ottawa, just pointing out that it's not exactly the same thing as toronto's kessel trade.
You forgot Suter
To Ottawa: Rick Nash LW
To Chicago: Z. Smith LW & Daugavins LW
To Ottawa: Hjarmlsson LD
To Boston: Bishop G, Condra RW & Butler RW
To Ottawa: 2012 1st rd pick (#24) - Tom Wilson RW
Draft - Ottawa moves up to selcet Cody Ceci RD
- Ottawa drafts a goalie in the 3rd rd & maybe another in the 4th.
July 1 - Ottawa signs Paul Guastad C
Nash - Spezza - Michalek
Greening - Turris - Alfredsson (Noesen)
Silfverberg - Regin - Stone
Dzuirzynski - Guastad - Neil/JOB
Hjarmlsson - Karlsson
Cowen - Gonchar
Phillips - Carkner/Boroweicki
Anderson - Lehner
Don't get crazy now...
Then again, I guess they would only interrupt fishing for a TML trade.
Relly... we all KNOW exactly how Zibby and Bishop will end up.. and has Foligno peaked at 23... even though he has continued to improve every year?
Dont get me wrong I would be tempted to make this trade, but hindsight is always 20/20
Just sayin
Fair point, but we know much more about them than Burke knew about a future draft pick (he didn't even know if it would be early/late).
You added the word "exactly" in front of the quote. He never used the word "exactly". ;)
They have a pretty good idea what they have in foligno, zibby, bishop...
You should change your name to "idontknowanyth ingaboutbeer"!! !
Great points Rush,
however, as I have mentioned numerous times, but it must be a proposition that no one agrees with as no one has brought it up I still say:
Step 1
Go after UFA Parise with all you have
sign him for 7.8 over next 6 years = to Nash contract
Step 2
We have all those extra bodies to go after a top 4 D
We now have a solid 4 lines
with an added top 4 at the same cost as ONE Nash
No?
BM sent Fisher and Kelly out in classy ways, why not Alfie?
Hell yeah Stella is the shit
In a can if you wanna drink all night, and in a bottle if you dont hahaha
It has nothing to do with the Ottawa Senators but I just got word of a deal that is about to go down. If nothing else it means Sergei Bobrovsky will not be the only player traded on Draft Day.
Very True and since we are talking about Burke he didn't know his head from his ass either!
Makes a good point, we have lots of assets to dangle and maybe take a run at a guy like Nash and a top 4 Dman, Alfie stays in the fold for one more year!
WORST.UPDATE.EV ER
In the next 3 hours…
To Columbus: Zibanejad, Foligno, Gonchar, 2012 3rd rounder
To Ottawa: Rick Nash LW
To Anaheim: Milan Michalek, Matt Puempel, Patrick Wiercioch
To Ottawa: Bobby Ryan RW, Justin Schultz D (rights)
To Edmonton: 1st in 2012, 1st in 2013, Justin Schultz D (rights)
To Ottawa: 1st overall pick in 2012
2012/13 lineup top 6…
Nash/Spezza/Ryan
Yakupov/Turris/Alfredson
Assuming it has to stay vague so you don't give up sources, could you leak out player positions or geographic locations of the teams involved?
Come on Chirp! How big does it rank from 1 to 10? Let us in on one team involved?
Lets just all start drinking lol
You tease.
Hahah I do apologize. Would not have done it if it was a Senators related deal.
Thanks Dackell,
he has publicly stated that he will not go to a Canadian team? I did not know that, I know for sure he is going to test free agency, and I thought he would go anywhere that could land him a cup, and the Sens with him playing with Spezza is a really good opportunity I would think
Ahh yes...The "on a scale of 1-10" question...usua lly the opening to a game of 20 questions :)
We'd have to throw in another major piece to Nashville + take salary back which I am cool with.
We'd also probably have to throw something like Stone or Silf at Anaheim.
Otherwise I love it! Haha.
*bong hit*
edit: With a top 6 like that, Marty would retire, Luongo would refuse trade to Toronto, Price would be in therapy and Thomas would never come back. Haha.
I love it!
We would still have Silfverburg so I am happy.
Nice of you to reply without adding what you drink...
Im gonna guess Bud Light or even worse Coors Light.
I had to run to the gas station, Team 1200 had SOCCER on and I was screaming in rage in the entire drive.
Haha.
I think the guy was implying he liked 'La Belle Province' because they sold this Belgium beer for cheap.
If this trade Chirp is talking about involves Luongo and the Leafs, we're never going to hear the end of it.
Pacing around, refusing to sit, muttering "f**k! f**k! f**k! f**k! f**k!", I'd bet.
You only went and got beers about an hour ago (I know cause it was biggest announcement of the day)
But after that last late breaking news post, I am wondering how many you have had already
Twitter really did drop in activity too, and you can tell the TSN guys are just looking for anything news worthy to post about. I guess we'll have to wait for the details of Chirps vague update as the only piece of info coming down the pipe.
I picked a great time to get my beer earlier, cause now I can relax and enjoy it.
And about the Oilers, who here thinks they'll actually move the pick?
Source: the Edmonton Oilers will be picking Ryan Murray 1st overall if they keep their pick. Unconfirmed for now; will keep you updated.
Watch that bragging end by the time the season starts and they've seen him play behind a shitty team :) HUGE smile ensues for all sens fans!!!
You are not alone. Kessel deal was awful for TO and any Nash deal would be terrible for Ottawa.
Howsden is determined to win this deal, wanting such untouchables as Stepan and McDonough from the Rangers and Couture from the Sharks.
Fortunately, Dreger seems to think that nothing is imminent at all.
Plz stop using that tool as a source
Thanks
Just posting it as FYI - not endorsing or anything.
Well they want to get Murphy at any cost, so I doubt they would drop lower than 2nd pick, and if I was giving up Yakupov I would want a pretty good incentive for that as well... I can;t see this happening but sure there is a chance. They would be mental IMO not to have FAILED for NAIL.
Too bad they are hard up for defense instead of forwards, otherwise we could talk to them if we chose to.
I deserved that haha. Had to be vague with it but figured people would rather know something over nothing.
Also, there's value in making him the #1 pick (i.e. publicity, marketing, Murray's ego maybe even) that might exceed whatever someone might be willing to give up to swap. And yeah, they'd be nuts to drop below #2 if that's the guy they want - so why bother?
I just fail to see what it could possibly be that you'd have to be sooooo vague about it. I guess I'll know after it happens.
Don't be surprised if Sens interested in @tom_wilso from Plymouth. Nasty winger, big playoff performer + teammate of @StefanNoesen
Retweeted by Stefan Noesen
Just at the request of the guy who told me about it.
I couldn't help myself, checked that one too ...
This is from some Carleton U student and "Avid Sens fan". Hardly a reliable source. I like the idea of the Sens taking him, but....
Don't click any of the pictures. Most of them are Rick-rolls, fugly chicks or underwearless guys.
Not cool!
I just got wind that Oilers are really high on Reinhart. afriend and oiler fan Claims it came from a pretty reputable source and I have no reason not to believe him but take it for what it is worth... maybe that the news
Yeah not implying Stella is french, he was saying he loves the french people for selling his Stella so cheap...and I agree!
If your ever in Gatineau go check our Roi d'la Biere (Marché Gravelle), you wont wanna leave man!!
That or Costco Gatineau, most 24's for $22-$26
Not even sure where he's ranked. He's not our pick at 15 that's for sure. But if Noesen is "the future" I have no problem picking the kid in the 3rd or 4th round (assuming we're not picking him 2 rounds early).
EDIT: Sorry, he's ranked 18 on some rankings. So maybe he does go at 15? Hopefully not just cuz he's buds with Noeson and we'd be picking him either way if so.
In an effort to read too much into something, I wonder if the fact that apparently our 1st round pick isn't part of an offered package means that Howson is absolutely fine with waiting until after the draft to make a deal.
On most lists I've seen, he's rank in the late 1st to early 2nd round. It's not that much of a stretch, especially considering most lists last year had Noesen in the early 2nd
Columbus then gets a top player with a bit of experience...
How about Jordan Eberle for #2? Is Yakapov >> Eberle?
The world has officially gone to hell!
Its No Panty Day, June 22...
Why isnt this a holiday FFS!!
He's ranked in the top 30
In my opinion, no. Eberle is already a stud.
I personally do, also may make ziba easier to part with as a young center
We need wingers more than centers. Zibby will play wing if he's not traded.
Yeah sorry - edited my post shortly after. The page I looked for him was only 1-15 and I thought it was 1-60.
OOPS
I hope we don't take him... He looks to have a limited ceiling... Although no one is really overwhelming at our draft position.
If he is CBJ would be insane to trade their pick for Eberle. If he's not then Edmonton would be insane.
See where I'm going with this? LOL
Damn shame.
Sweet jesus RT @TEAM1200Ottawa : According to RDS, last issue in Ottawa acquiring Rick Nash is budgetary. It is in Melnyk's hands now.
Luongo to Toronto? If so, for who? Schenn and some other mofo?
Not sure if you are trying to prove my point here, but correct me if wrong... the NYI were looking for a top 3 bonfide scorer, and at the time Yashin was that. They traded a raw and unproven Chara and a first round pick for some guy named Spezza, and how di that work out for them?
again I love Nash, but I do not want to be the Laffs or NYI 3 years from now, thats all.
From what I've heard/read he's a grittier/less skilled Lucic. So ultimately, I guess that makes him not Lucic.
According to RDS, last issue in Ottawa acquiring Rick Nash is budgetary. It is in Eugene Melnyk's hands now. #NHL
If Melnyk say NO....I think we have to be very frustrated and look like abandonned by our owner....
According to RDS, last issue in Ottawa acquiring Rick Nash is budgetary. It is in Eugene Melnyk's hands now. #NHL #2012NHLDRAFT
So seems like they're saying the "budget" concern is that getting Nash would put us over some self-induced budget? Does that mean MM9 and his $$ aren't going the other way?
Ok. So what is the fattest ugliest dead weight contract on all of CBJ? That is obviously what the issue is.
I'd take a flyer on him but not sure I'd want to take the gamble...when someone slips THAT much they usually are a bust in the end anyone remember angelo esposito? no? exactly
Nah - He's 20 years old (fake passport to play in Jr)
I'd rather stay outside in the yard on the laptop than go inside and tune in to tv

TSN Scout Craig Button:
Tom is a player who makes opponents very uncomfortable when he's on the ice. He has an undeniable determination and desire to impact the game through physical play. Combine that with a body that complements his desire and you have a wrecking ball type player. It's a purposeful style that can be intimidating but is very effective because he creates room, not only for himself, but for his team. He understands how to utilize these attributes whether along the boards, at the offensive net, or by separating opponents from the puck so his team can gain advantages. His skating continues to improve and he gets to the necessary places so as to create the literal and figurative impact in the game. Very good sense and he doesn't run around aimlessly and his puck skills should not be underestimated because with the room he creates, he also can finish. He's a disruptive force and a unique player because he makes the game fun, just so long as you are not an opponent.
Not sure he's the best choice at 15 but maybe if we trade down or pick up another pick that's late in the first?
If it is indeed the case, I'd be telling Howson that in order to do so, our offer would have to be the initial one MZ, Foligno & Bishop and nothing more
\
im not sold on Rick Nash(my opinion) hes barely hit 70 points and is quite the puck hog from what ive watched.
spezza might not even matter centering him.
once again just my opinion.
Murray asked Melnyk some time ago (deadline last year even) about acquiring Nash. Melnyk said "only if you can unload some major dollars going the other way". Now, forgetting that we don't really have any albatross contracts (Gonchar only one year left, Kuba gone) maybe Murray wasn't able to work out a deal that exactly fits Melnyk's budget but has something that's sort of close.
In that scenario, Murray might have a "hockey deal" in place but needs to convince Melnyk to be a bit looser on the money. Or maybe Murray wants Melnyk to approve the deal with Murray promising to shed salary elsewhere?
Again, can't think of any "shed-able" salary though.
It is a gamble going from rebuild to, must make 3 round of the playoffs... will Nash be enough to get us there?
"Aaron Portzline @Aportzline

Imagine Spezza passing to that guy?!!?
I think they would have those calculations done well in advance
Last years deadline when we were last in the east and had traded half our roster away? I couldn't think of a better time to load up for a cup run.
SBP makes so much money its time you spend it, and i know how much they make and they cut hard working ppl salarys
I think the budget issue is BS. This would have been approved a long time ago.
Bull
Tsn.ca usually has the stream!
Mean this past year's deadline obviously.
No arguments here.
They are a bit late to the party, we knew that 2 hours ago...
Hence the part about "Murray wasn't able to work out a deal that exactly fits Melnyk's budget but has something that's sort of close".
Sens get Bob back in the deal from CBJ and flip him to the Jets, along with their 15th overall for Winnipeg's 1st rounder.
That doesn't make sense..
Google Grigorenko's real age. There's smoke there.
Me either. Though (and this means nothing I guess) it's contrary to what Tim Murray said yesterday. He talked about moving down if the four guys they've targeted are all gone but said they wouldn't move up. But of course that all can change or have been smoke from the start.
That's pretty ignorant to say, and douchey to bring his marital problems into it. He's been a great owner for us, a great fan of the team and spent to the TITS when the spending is smart. Respect The Euge.
Not just that it is likely classic good cop / bad cop negotiations to work over CBJ.
Especially for someone who apparently works at SBP. Bite that hand that feeds ya buddy!
According to RDS, last stumbling block in Ottawa acquiring Rich Nash is the team's budget. It is Eugene Melnyk's hands now. #NHL

Ryan -- 25 - 5.1 cap hit for 3 yrs.
So you give up say 3 good pieces for Ryan and he walks away in 3 yrs... Sens lose that trade...
Nash at least is 6 yrs.. I just hope Melnyk loosens the purse strings.. If Mason is included it's a 2.9M cap hit for 1 yr...
Checked capgeek... Nash's 'salary' this season is 7.6M.. Mason's is 3.2... So that's 10.8M -- but Alfie is down 3.5 and no Kuba.. so that frees about 7-8M in Salary... But then you still need D.. maybe Murray goes with the young guys... That's risky.. They still need a good experience, CHEAP, D.
Throw rocks at it!
Luongo ?

BREAKING: #Columbus trades F Rick #Nash to #Ottawa in exchange for Ben Bishop, 1st Round Pick, #Mika Zibanejad. Done.
Doesn't show up here.
Fake account. See the underscore at the end of the twitter handle.
If Nash (and Mason) -- then next year.. you could let Mason walk or trade his rights (he's a UFA) and Gonchar 5.5 will be gone.. Maybe Alfie.. but then with Nash who knows...
It will be a higher payroll for one season.. but he got relief this season -- with a salary near the cap floor and 3 home playoff games.... and with Nash the Sens should make the playoffs and get to the 2nd round...
Yeah fake account. Surprised it's the first one of these today.
Bob McKenzie is the ONLY source that I trust
2nd to chirp right?
This is where semi-insider guys like IncarceratedBob come in. They don't work for a major news outlet and are happy to throw stuff out there before it is 100%. This is why a) they often break the news and b) are sometimes wrong when something changes or they took a risk putting something out there not super reliable.
You wanna see stupid sauce, go visit other hockey boards, it's like this constantly.
Paul MacLean's response when i told him deal is being reported as done "We got Nash? I'd be all for that" #Sens
Nice!
What's it going to be like here when we win the Cup ? (grin)
Murray's working hard to move up from 15th by the sounds of it. Ceci, Lindholm or maybe even Faksa?
I will support this team no matter what happens. Because at the end of the day, it's all about:
GO SENS GO.

I can assure everyone that SJ is NOT a big city! It's extremely spread-out, but the downtown itself is no bigger than Ottawa and it's a good 45 minutes to San Francisco, a city that is probably the most overrated city in North America.
FYI - Best beer is any maritime beer ... Keiths, Moosehead and Alpine... And this delicious Cracked Canoe is exquisite.
So far.
Mucho respect brother

Yes.
This is my first time using the site via iPhone, I am stuck outside so jacked one from a teenager. Better on a real computer. :)
Just practicing?
LOL now I have that "Jason Spezza" song in my head but with "Rick Nash".

If Nash is traded to Ottawa and waive is no-movement clause, i think it will erase the Heatley saga forever.
