Heading into Game 6 with a 3-2 series lead, the Sens have a chance to do something pretty special with a win over the Rangers tonight. As the number eight seed, the Sens were eliminated from the playoffs before the puck even dropped. But as this team has reminded us all year, that’s why they play the games…
In Game 5, we saw just how important it is for the Sens to get the first goal. Through the first 4 games, the Sens had barley any odd man rushes but once the Sens scored early in Game 4, they forced the Rangers to open up a little bit. The result was a number of excellent scoring chances for the Senators. Get the lead again tonight and we can expect more of the same.
The Sens and the SBP faithful should get a huge boost from the return of Daniel Alfredsson. Alfie missed the last three games with a concussion but will be in the line up tonight. That Alfie Chant that has picked up steam in these playoffs should hit another level when the clock hits 11:11 in the first period.
Swedish sensation Jakob Silfverberg was on the ice for the morning skate as was cagey playoff veteran Mark Stone. Both took turns on the top line but it looks like MacLean is leaning towards Silfverberg for Game 6. We'll have to wait till closer to game time to find out for sure.
Here is how the Sens are expected to line up.
Michalek-Spezza-Silfverberg
Foligno-Turris-Alfredsson
Greening-Smith-Neil
Konopka-O'Brien-Condra
Kuba-Karlsson
Phillips-Carkner
Cowen-Gonchar
If you are lucky enough to attend Game 6, get ready to make some noise. The crowd at Game 4 was absolutely electric but I expect fans to take it up a notch in this one. Don’t forget it’s a 7:00 PM start!!
GO SENS GO!
GO SENS GO!
can't wait...get goosebumps as soon the broadcast starts...then Mr Slewidge sings the anthems.

Can't wait to see how they do and with Silfver if he's in the line up come game time. Hope he has a Stone kind of entrance.
With the whole country watching i'm sure he'll try to be fair, if not i don't think we'll allow him back in canada ever again...
So pissed I can't be there tonight. Work fucked up how we get our bonuses now. Of course just in time for the Playoffs. I'll get it next week when I won't be watching a possible round advancing game.
Maybe a blessing in disguise as you'll get to go watch us Annihilate the Bruins in Game 6 to advance to the eastern finals!
Lol yeah but nervous too.
I think i am more nervous though haha.
Lets fukn do this boys
I mostly meant jacked in a lot larger than I expected sense but he sure looks nervous /excited

useless piece of shit
edit; ARE YOU KIDDING?
USELESS FUCK
What a waste of quality ice time on that bone head
Everytime I watch the game in "regular" TV, we win.
Watched the 1st in regular, watched the 2nd in HD.
Back to medium quality it is.
We were on the PP and that little shit gets a penatly
they score, and we get another penalty
Talk about a momentum killer
FUCK ANY OF YOU FOOLS WHO TRIED TO TELL ME MICHALEK IS GOOD LET ALONE HALF FUCKIN DECENT
He needs to go if or have his ice time reduced largely for us to last
WOW thank-you my man. That right there is taking one for the team
How did you get past the admins block??
He seriously isn't playing well.
let michalek pick his nose with foligno
I bet Michalek gets his usual waste of PP time, yet he hardly deserves it or earned it
Jack Adams my ass
kuba is garbage.
I wish some of our guys had HALF the "Hockey IQ" that Karlsson has
Fuck those chumps man, and fuck anyone who sticks up for them
we were up 1-0 on the fuckin powerplay and that sack of shit michalek took the wind right out of our sails
and now Foligno just doing more of the same
...dont even bother
Quoting jasonontheoldsenschirp:
Are you kidding, the 1st was picture perfect and Michalek completely fucked us taking that penalty on the PP in the 2nd
all down hill from there
Bench his ass in the 3rd.
Michalek - Foligno - Daffy Duck
Those guys earned it, bad play is rewarded with quality ice time
Where the fuck is Matt Stone
Foligno is the douche
Fuck 'em! Go Sens! 20 minutes for the best 3rd period team in the NHL!
This. Have you guys watched any of this series? I was at a game the other day where (and you'll never believe this) the Sens won a game they we're down by two in. This team battles.
I am furious...
Michalek single handedly killed the momentum of the period for the Sens. Since then the team started to play like shit.
SPEZZA what a giggles goof head - WAKE UP 19!
SERENITY NOW!
ARGGHGGHGHHHGHG H
Fuck these refs, I'm honestly sick of this FUCKING shit. Its a playoff game for fucks sakes...you dont call a 5-3 that could change a series for a play where foligno was pushed in by girardi!
Want to wager on this game??
The team's response here is crucial, even if we don't end up winning.
Keep the faith.
I really don't feel like the Sens have been all that bad. Not burying a couple of great chances up 1-0 is the worst offence so far.
The refs won't help any so extra work will be needed!!
he is an interesting personality with lots of highlight clips
bahahahahaah
Better get that fixed up quickly... :)
Back to HD in the 3rd indeed!
We are in yr one of a rebuild. Pegged to finish last. No. 8 seed vs no. 1 seed. Some questionable calls and we came unraveled a bit and couldn't make any passes and missed some assignments. But we have come back many times this yr and even against this team.
There are a few loses on here that claim to be fans and all they do is spew negative diarrhea.
They are clearly not real fans. I am just as pissed off about thatperiod as the next guy but suport the boys. Hold ur heads up highand lets do this.
Justto put things into perspective again.
This should be good
and Phillips hits the post!
WHO IN GODS NAME DOES MACLEAN HAVE OUT ON THE POWERPLAY???
SMITH, AND KONOPKA? WHERES ALFIE?
Wake the hell up
Konopka is playing way too much.
moving forward to next season
Too many games we rely on the D to get or generate our goals
HUGE changes to be made in the top 6
Massive shot blocking and nothing else.
1- referee #1
2- referee #2
3- lundqvist
Are we going to score 2 in the next 5 minutes to tie it up? Getting one goal on Lundquist was hard enough through 20.
Ugh.
SHUT THE FUCK UP.
Bring on game 7.
Chirp, please block this piece of shit, if he comeback under a new name, he will be easy to recognize.
#FUCKMICHALEK
Fuck michalek
doesnt even matter
Are you even watching this game? How can you say that our team doesn't care tonight!? Have you watched Alfie this period?!
1. Michalek
2. Foligno
3.Gonchar
Forgot about Alfie.
It's open season on the Sens. You can hold and crosscheck Foligno, and he will always get the penalty.
Pallrus, speak up about this crap.
Would Stone would have made a difference tonight? Who knows?
Go Sens Go.
Stone should play instead of Silfverberg
My God...you guys are really blaming Silfverburg ....wow
I seriously think j will stay away from here for game 7...heaven forbid we lose the clowns here will call for a complete blow up of our team....yeah the team that is in year 1 of an anticipated 3 year rebuild.
Please stay away then
The Philly-Pittsbur g game was murder and no 5 on 3's????
Fuck this shit, its obscene.
Stone has to play over Silfverburg for game seven but, the league will not allow Ottawa to win.
Go Sens Go
Foligno got the puck to the net and stood there as the puck was loose and get crushed and pushed on Lundqvist. How hell can you blame him for this? Wake up buddy.
They are a weak team
I get that. Pretty sure we will see Butler in next game UNLESS MacClean has clear instructions from the management that this is part of the rebuiilding to put top rookies in stressful playoffs games.
Games 7, got to love it. Can go either side.
Haven't we played better on the road this season?
OURS!
Every single time this playoff that the capitals have won, so have we. Every time they have lost...so have we. They play their game 7 before we do so if they win then...
GO SENS GO...and caps too I guess!
can a guy like foligno actually get sat for a game 7?
We have been better on the road and that is what I take comfort in however, NY just showed us what they do when all the pressure is on them. I think they are going to come at us the same way and we're going to have to be perfect...like game 5. GO SENS GO!!!!
I blame the snow, it cooled down our otherwise hot team :(
Time to regroup and break the Rangers heart in game 7Â
GO SENS GO!!!!!
I am utterly intrigued by the thought of who will dress for game 7. Do they through Zibby in now to see how he handles a "Stressful playoff game"? I really have no idea what MaClean is going to do. I wonder if he goes with his bingo guys that proved last year that they can win under pressure.
Ok, what does everyone think the lineup will be for game 7!?
If the Sens start and finish the game the way they started it today, they'll win on Thursday.
We've come too far! GSG
differing opinion here: They dominated they 2nd period, making it appear as if we were a man down the whole time. I think we dominated the 3rd and they just trapped and blocked shots...and of course, Henrik stood on his head.
Damn it.
I guess we'll be able to really rest everybody. Alfie will most likely make good use of those off days. Michalek really needs to find his game, he's been horrible today. Our 3rd and 4th line grinders have done a good job. Spezza needs to shoot more often.
Yup. Because the last redneck party that rose up out of Alberta is now running the country.
For 4 minutes of the period...less actually because they scored 2 PP goals.
i have a question for those that watched the game on tv, was the silfverberg chant heard on tv?
Won't be happening Thursday night!
I believe someone mentioned the Silf chant earlier in this thread, or maybe it was somewhere else but I definitely remember hearing about it.
The thing about Michalek is that he isn't a winger who creates for himself. Many of his goals have been because of positioning and being at the right place at the right time. He doesn't have that great of a wrist shot, doesn't take many shots to begin with, and doesn't create a whole lot of offense. He does too much fruitless skating around for nothing and is easily knocked off of along the boards.
I wouldn't mind seeing Nicky switch with Milo. He's a guy who uses his speed and creates a little more.
For a guy who we are depending on to score goals, he has been a failure thus far.
But I refuse to blame this game on the refs. I do agree with the fact that Foligno was wrongfully penalised, but bad calls happen. Most of the penalties that did occur in the game, were indeed penalties. The Sens just took their foot off the pedal and played a sloppy game.
Then tonight crosscheck Karlsson, after the whistle, into the boards no call.
Malkin can skate into Bryzgalov, with no Flyer players or Pens players around, and he gets nothing.
Yet Foligno is shoved into Lundquist and he gets called for goaltending interference .. which leads to a 5 on 3.. and a goal.
And don't get me started on the puck over the glass by the Rangers in the 3rd.. that doesn't get called.
And that bogus call on Silfverberg.
And Lundquist, as much as I respect him, has the gall to come out and say the NHL wants the Sens to win?
So Rangers, this is your plan -- to deflect this so it looks like the Sens are favoured by the league?.. What a joke.
The Rangers get dirty again in game 7.. Refs let it go.. want to make a bet it's O'Rourke... sorry Sens have no chance in game 7.
As much as I support them and cheer for them.. they can't fight 2 on 1.. it's doesn't work very well.. and Lundquist had that backwards.
Top it all off Chicago is losing to Phoenix... I hate to see a team lose when one of their best players is taken out by a dirty hit.
Go Sens.. give it your best... but I think you are fighting a losing battle...
cool it bud. its just your emotions talking after tonight's shit show. i understand what you are trying to say, but we just have to move one and look forward to whatever lineups we get on Thursday
Cmon now.
Its all gravy boys
Sens are Awesome.
The call on Foligno certainly a soft one. However, lets be honest here... Foligno knows his reputation and although I don't think it warranted a penalty he didn't truly do the maximum to avoid contact.
Overall the Sens lost the game because they took three penalties 200 feet from their own net inside the last 10 minutes of the second and failed to kill them off. Michalek, Foligno, and Silfverberg all guilty. None of them were good penalties to take and that is not the place on the ice where it's worth the risk.
Silfverberg looked pretty jet-lagged and frankly hasn't had any chance to adjust to the speed of the North American game much less the NHL playoffs. It was a gamble to put him in and we lost. However realistically he played very sparingly and the real loss was not being able to confidently roll 4 lines. I noticed the same problem when Stone played sparingly in game 5.
If I'm PM I'd go with this top six:
Michalek-Spezza-Alfie
Foligno-Turris-Butler
I think this is the group that gives Ottawa the best chance to win. The Sens need to get more out of the first line 5-on-5 although they were decent in game 6. We know that the second line can get it done and the 3 above mentioned showed some decent chemistry. It's time to try and get line one going too. Let the bottom six do their thing as they have all series. That way the Sens can roll four lines and just grind down the Ranger's short bench.
Go Sens Go!
I am disappointed, but I'm also being dead serious. Michalek needs to be a factor and hasn't.
Can't wait for Thursday. Couldn't come any sooner.
Why Chirp.. don't get me wrong.. I love this team.. but the Rangers are a dirtier team on home ice.. and they more or less get away with it -- God they got away with a lot tonight. Watching the Sens vets lose their composure tonight when they should be leading the way.. is not helping the young guys. -- I'm sure they were frustrated with the actions of Mr. Peel tonight. He can't apologize this time for his mistakes .. it's too late for that...
It just seems to be an uphill battle.. and when you want your young team to have a fair chance in a game.. and not to get it.. (which has happened a lot this season) -- it just gives you a hopeless feeling.
The Rangers played a good game.. and the Sens lost it after that bogus call on Foligno... but you can't fight city hall.
The reason the Sens lost has nothing to do with Silfverberg or even Stone had he been in.. Sooner them than Butler.. Sens PK did not get the job done tonight... They kep taking penalities when they were on the PP.. that's so frustrating.
Get a new PP coach for next season guys.. the one now is not doing much...
This was a funny concept I've noticed all season long.
Every game the Sens are "expected" or "favourited" to win, like tonight, they end up losing. Every game they're not expected to win, they do. The team is just programmed to be an underdog. Whenever everybody doubts them and expects them to fold, that's when they shine through! Going into MSG they're not expected to win. Hopefully tradition holds true and they win it big in New York's barn!
The NHL couldn't have scheduled the game for Wednesday instead?
The one place I think it's fair to be critical of Ottawa's star players is on the PP. In this area Spezza, Alfie, Turris, Michalek, and even to some degree Karlsson need to be better. This was supposed to be an advantage area for Ottawa in this series and to a man so far they haven't gotten the job done well enough. Heck one goal on the 2 PP's in the 3rd and us Sens fans are watching overtime tonight. They have to be much, much, better.
Laying it all on Michalek is just bullshit though. It's the same kind of crap Garrioch does for the Sun. It's a team game out there. That top line hasn't had an edge in their match-up in the series and it's been a defense-first series. It's not surprising the numbers are low.
I'm cheering for Biston on Wednesday. Clearly they are the best team the #BizarroSens have a good chance of beating.
SensChirp = the glass is half full
Sandy = the glass is half empty
Priceless!
Its frustrating to have to battle the refs over and over and over again. Ultimately though, we are beating ourselves. Dismal fucking powerplays and an obscene amount of turnovers and soft ass plays by our stars...
If we lose this series, look no further then Spezza, Karlsson and Michalek. Thoroughly unacceptable playoff performances from our "stars"
I'm not throwing in the towel just yet though. There's still a ton of heart left on this team. But I don't know if I'll be able to watch Thursday...
Go Sens! *sigh*
An old pro once told me..."Two evenly matched NHL teams, ya only need one extra a night @ precisely the right time"
It wasnt a bogus call Sandy, Foligno clearly ran Lundqvist, it wasnt like Kreider's penalty on Anderson, now that was bogus...but still the refs are watching for it. Foligno's penalty was much more deserved than Kreider's.
Sens PP & PK sucked, need to score on the PP...
I was amused by that until I got banned from their forum for "reporting too many posts". Absolutely ridiculous when they insult our fans and stuff, lol.
Michalek-Spezza-Parrish
Foligno-Turris-Alfredsson
Greening-Smith-Neil
Condra-O'Brien-Konopka
Forget this game, and let's go on to Game 7.
GO! SENS! GO!
I thought they played an overall great game, not counting that stretch late in the second period (why is it always late in the 2nd?).
Whether you think the call on Foligno was bogus or not (I think he was clearly pushed into Lundqvist), that was the TSN turning point of the game.
MacLean needs to show them tape of how they played at the end of the 3rd, and somehow get them to play with that kind of intensity throughout the game.
They have 3 days to decide who will be in lineup for Thursday nights game 7. No need to rush into any kind of decision. Let Silfverberg, Stone, Butler, etc., practise hard and see who deserves to be in. Good problem to have.
P.S. Alot of Alfie bashing on Team 1200 this morning, saying he was a bad leader for blowing up like he did. Bullshit. Utter nonsense.
Parrish.......a re you kidding me?
NOPE!!!!!
Mind you neither were people on here
The refs weren't the ones standing around after the goal letting Stefan skate in and pass it to Kreider. It was horrible defence by Ottawa and terrible coverage by Spezza. That goal was a backbreaker and basically sealed the win for NY.
We have time to regroup to go into NY and win game 7. As a few of you have said, win or lose, this series proves that the Rangers don't have what it takes to win the cup. We just need to capitalize on any momentum we have and not look back.
Now my biggest issue. I know he is having a great series on the draw and killing penalties, but Kenopka was played wayyyy to much last night. Maclean is getting wrapped up in the hype of winning face offs and line matching here in the playoffs. For the life of me I can't understand why a guy who was virtually benched and scratched the entire 2nd half of the year can then play meaningful minutes in the playoffs including 20 shifts and 15 minutes in the most pivitol game 6
Also, no one here talking about Matt Carkner not returning to the game and only played 6 minutes, which means Gilroy could draw into the lineup for game 7
Finally only alfie, michalek and spezza played more than Kenoopka amongst our forwards. That can't happen in game 7 regardless how good kenopka is on the draw.
Foligno should be shot. I love the guy, but I can't stand watching him any longer. I know I'm just upset about the loss, but it's tiring cheering for someone that makes the same mistakes over and over again. I still hope that he matures, keeps playing with an edge, and learns when to pass and shoot. Most of all, he needs to stop taking bad penalties. Apart from those things, he's fucking Claude Giroux.
Also, to those that have vacated the bandwagon; we've won 2 of 3 at MSG this postseason... so, ya... better rethink that 'all is lost' attitude.
I'm not blaming him for the loss. I'm just getting sick of the deficienies in his game. Same way I get angry when Spezza turns the puck over, or when Karlsson misplays the body.
Also, Foligno could have made an attempt to get out of Lundqvist's way. I agree it was a weak call, but the refs made an equally weak goalie interference call against NYR. If you're Foligno being pushed into the net, do a better job 'making an effort' to get out of the way - it looked like he was trying to belly flop on the goalie. If Foligno made more of an effort, or if he didn't have a history of running goalies, he wouldn't have had the call go against him.
sorry for the long winded rant peeps.
Cant stand fans blaming the refs for a loss, its the most pathetic excuse in the book.
