Game Day- Series Shifts to SBP

After a wild Game 2 and a hard earned split at Madison Square Garden, the Ottawa Senators return home to friendly confines of Scotiabank Place.

The Sens can expect to be greeted by an energetic crowd as the Senators get set to play their first playoff home game in almost two years.  Puck drop is scheduled for just after 7:30 PM with the Red Zone out front of SBP open two hours before game time.

Obviously all the talk heading into Game 3 is the physical tone this series took during Saturday night’s game.  Carkner, who received a one game suspension for his actions, got the ball rolling early and the nastiness continued throughout the game.

Carl Hagelin was suspended for three games for a cheap shot on Sens Captain Daniel Alfredsson.

Brendan Shanahan was on MSG Networks this morning and defended the decisions he made.  There was some talk that he suggested he would reduce the suspension if Alfie played.  You can listen to the interview here, but that’s not exactly what he said.  He was merely stressing the fact that the injury was a factor in his decision.

For what it’s worth, I’m not going to join that group that piles on every decision Shanahan makes.  The guy really does have the toughest job in hockey right now and has done an admirable job and more importantly, is willing to openly discuss each decision he makes.  At some point the officials and players need to take responsibility for what happens on the ice.

Alfredsson was on the ice for the morning skate and is being called a game time decision. The Sens will be forced to make one line up change as defenceman Matt Gilroy will draw back in for the suspended Carkner.  Here is how the Senators lined up at the morning skate.

Michalek-Spezza-Winchester
Foligno-Turris-Alfredsson
Greening-Smith-Neil
Konopka-O’Brien-Condra

Kuba-Karlsson
Phillips-Gilroy
Cowen-Gonchar

For those of you that are in attendance tonight, be ready to make some serious noise.  The crowds at MSG were electric but I have no doubt Scotiabank Place can be every bit as loud.  In a series that is going to come down to the wire, we the fans have an opportunity to give our team the boost they need.

No holding back.

GO SENS GO!

  • With the BSens season over, the Sens have brought up Lehner, Borowiecki, Gryba, Wiercioch, Da Costa, Dziurzynski, Hoffman, Petersson and Zibanejad to join the Sens as The Black Aces for the playoff run.

According to TSN they said Alfie told reporters he had a concussion. If that is true, I must say I am a little confused. I thought under the NHL protocol if you had a concussion, you were automatically not playing for at least 7 days. Did I miss something?

I really hope Alfredsson dresses. If not, I would like to think DaCosta could fill in but I am assuming Daugavins will. Can't waitto make it to the game tonight! Hopefully Neil will continue feeding Boyle (can't believe he turtled!!)

Nope - you just have to pass the baseline tests which Alfie (apparently) did.

Agreed on Shanny - while some decisions he made this year were not what I would have liked (Wolski for example) it absolutely is an impossible job and the fact that he releases videos explaining each decision is really great. He's at least willing to explain his reasons and clearly is trying to be fair.

If Alfie can't go Daugavins does seem like the logical guy to step in - though MacLean may go with Klinkhammer if he doesn't see anyone in the bottom six he wants to move up to the 2nd line. Or heck even Butler - maybe he can find his magic from the end of last year again???

so pumped for tonight...combi ne the game tonight with the warm weather outside and I am so not focused on work today lol. Hope Alfie is good to play, but if not, we have players that can draw in to give captain clutch a night off, I just can't imagine him missing the first game at SBP if he at all can play.

And YES! We need SBP to be loud tonight.

Too many quiet crowds this year but the playoffs are usually better.

Anyone going to the game needs to make a ton of noise and make sure people around you make noise too. Keep it positive and simple (Go Sens Go etc) and even the old foggies will join in.

1) Does anyone know if the NYR's are dressing that monster tonight (John Scott, I think?)

2) If they do, is Frank Lessard still with our organization?

3) Not to nitpick, but for tonights game they are giving out towels (better than those thundersticks, which really quietens the building), but I heard the towels will be white...Wouldn' t it make more sense to give out red towels, aw we will be in red and the Rangers will be in white? (Sorry, I know it's a small detail, but I watched the big Phoenix "white out" on the week-end and I had to laugh as it looked like the Hawks were receiving the support and the Coyotes in red looked like the enemy. Someone should tell these marketers that the home team stopped wearing the white jerseys years ago.)

Anyway, GO SENS GO!

1) John Scott was skating as if he's playing tonight (left ice before the other scratches) but no announcement yet.

2) We have a TON of guys that can fight if needs be - no need for us to dress AHLers.

3) Red towels are probably twice as expensive. White towels are also symbolic of Roger Neilson so we kind of "own" white towels in a way. Agree red would be way cooler though and worth the cost.

Zibanejad suffered a concussion at a Bingo practice apparently and didn't play for them as they had planned.

Expect Daugavins with a chance MacLean goes with Klinkhammer instead.

Actually, expect Alfie - the guy's a warrior.

Big Game, lots of hype. The Senators vs Rangers just may become one of the newest rivalries in the league after this series. Can you imagine Ottawa vs Philly???

Great news about Alfredsson, happy he's skating. That alone means he's pushing forward, which should give the guys some extra modivation tonight.

One thing Ottawa has tried to do for the last few years in the playoffs is match the other buildings energy levels. I like the idea of towels, but the white out thing has been done before and we don't even use White as a primary, Red is our colour. SENSor said it best, go with Red and stick to Be Red, or at least go barber pole this year to support the heritage jersey. I think 1000's of those in the air would be neat. Just seems the marketing teams change it up every year, hard to keep one solid idea.

I'm asking the Sens gods for one thing today, the 1st goal tonight. If we get that goal, this game is ours. Go Sens Go!!!

I really don't think you guys will see the same game as last time. It will be as physical, but there will be no 'goonery' if you will. I don't think either team wants to have their best players injured. Someone will hit Callahan or Richards tonight, but not enough to cause a maylay.

It will be a more organized and throrough game.

PS. If Karlsson does not win the Norris, there is seriously something wrong with this league.

The Sens played a great road game game 2 for the win, but for them to take a grapple tonight, they're going to need Spezza to start to dominate like he can. Everytime Spezza dominates everybody plays better and the team generally wins. Both coaches have downplayed the last change thing but I think that's going to be key. MacLean will be able to get Spezza's line more time against other lines/pairings. Winchester on the top line as well might help get some more ice for Spezza to work with. Would love for that line to pot a couple tonight.

I am not able to go to home games living in Florida but I fully expect SBP to be off the hook loud, it is something that is contagious so if you are going it is all up to you.

Last playoffs I was in the building many games for was against the Ducks and people with season tickets (an older couple) in front of us said they were usually quiet fans all season.

They were quiet for about the first period and they were on their feet cheering their asses off the rest of the game, we and the crowd and the game pumped them up.

It was crazy loud in the building but I watched the game later as I taped on PVR and it was so loud on TV it drowned out the announcers and they had to almost yell to be heard.

Thats my hope for tonight, be loud and proud and take part in the chants as loud as you can be. yell your asses off.

The team deserves it.

This is nothing against Winchester, but seriously, the 1st line will be done for, unless Jess can pull a Regin 2010, even if he is 2 games late. I'm almost relying solely on the 2nd and 3rd lines. I hope I'm proven wrong. Also, someone let Michalek & Spezza know that the playoffs started. Love the call however of the B-Sens & prospects taking a look up in the press box.

Daugavins seems like the most logical choice to step in if Alfie can't play. He takes care of his own end and is probably the most responsible guy who isn't dressed.

I do believe Alfie will play, just think the sens are keeping everything close to the chest prior to puck drop.

The only guy I wouldn't mind seeing moved out of the lineup is O’Brien, only played 5min last game and didn't see a shift and the midpoint of game. With Z playing on the 4th line I think it would look better with natural winger in Daugavins or Klinkhammer.

Who ever mentioned Dacosta are u kidding me? Black aces won’t see the ice maybe Boro on D but that’s it

Chirp - any word on Mark Stone being one of the Black Aces?

Should be a great game tonight, hopefully Maclean starts the game with Z. Smith's line. If Alfie can't go I imagine either Butler or Kilnkhammer will get the nod though I would prefer the bigger & harder hitting Klink-Hammer to dress.

The Sens have to play tonight the way they did Saturday night to keep momnetum on their side. They can't back down because Carkner is not in their lineup. They have to hit, shoot & shoot often & fight if they have too. And it would be nice if Spezza decides to show up & actually do something constructive instead of just giving the puck away with those stupid passes of his & constantly killing momentum. He needs to wake up & get his head into the game, everybody has picked up their pace, he has to as well.

The other thing I would like to see is our defence shoot more at the net & stop faking, or shoot passing or missing the net with their shots, get pucks to the net as often as possible, we have guys standing there, stop making them wait for the defence to get the puck to the net.

Agree here (to a point). Foligno and Neil's goals were both a result of shooting regardless of possible blocks and then getting a second shot at it. Need to keep shooting, expect the block and be ready to shoot again.

If the shooters are ready to defend if the guy blocking the shot gets a breakaway and the other guys near the net are ready for the puck to end up anywhere near them we'll be okay.

Isn't there a limit to how many players the Sens can bring up when the playoffs are underway, it's something like 6 or 7 isn't it? I remember this being a big topic of discussion in the past, how important it is to know who may or may not get the call, because they'll remain with the team taking a spot for the rest of the playoffs.

I'm in agreement with most of you, I think Alfie is going to start. It makes sense with him passing the test, being on the ice and pairing on the 2nd line as per usual. Sounds to me like a way to really amp up the crowd and get a last minute energy boost from the fans and team when he's being announced in the starting roster. Ohhh... and just think of how pissed off Rangers fans will be, since Hagelin got a 3 gamer and Alfie is back in the next game :) If you ask me, 3 games was warranted and in some way, it's punishment for the hit Wolski got away with.

But, if Alfie decides to rest up for game 4, I'd like to see Kilnkhammer get the start. He's a bigger body and should be able to lay hits. While I don't think it's going to be the type of game we saw Saturday, the aggressive hitting is a MUST in this series. Just look at how many turnovers we witnessed on both ends of the ice because of the grit and pressure being applied against the back boards.

I agree this is definitely spezza's night.
I have a feeling that all the shenanigans are over with for the series. It will still be physical but nothing stupid. I also think this along with the energy of SBP will make us play a more offensive flowing game. When teams try to trade chances with the Sens they get owned every time. We have yet to see that in the series but now that there is some intimidation going on there could be an explosion of scoring.
I really do agree that if Spezza goes off the entire team will as well.

I'm hoping we try a little more dump and chase to develop our forecheck this game. We had too many turnovers at the NY blue line that turned in to opportunities for them. I'd like to see Neil, Foligno, Smith etc. hammering their Dmen behind their net.

This.

We can play a lot better than we have the past two games. Keep it simple. We got half a dozen great grinders and a mobile defense. Dump, chase, grind, pop it out to the blueline and BLAST that shit! They can only block so many slappies before they start having nightmares and visiting the hospital...

Look forward to better ice this game. Good god the past two games in MSG have been brutal. Maybe the worst ice I've seen in the playoffs post lockout.

According to TSN they said Alfie told reporters he had a concussion. If that is true, I must say I am a little confused. I thought under the NHL protocol if you had a concussion, you were automatically not playing for at least 7 days. Did I miss something?

No you have to pass the base line test and all the answering questions and stuff like that, There have been cases this year with mild concussions and some players only missed 1 or 2 games, never heard of the mandatory 7 day rule till now.

Its yahoo so very well may be yahoo...lol but I have had my fair share of concussions and if I had one 2 days ago, I would still have one.

I think he wants it to appear he isn't going to play and then make the roof blow up when he comes out for the skate...Most fans aren't as in the know as the posters here and are probably assuming he is seriously hurt.

I was disapointed in the game Ottawa played in their own end, they have to simplify it more, when in doubt get it out and hard around the boards and out. They got caught too many times trying to skate the puck out, and 1 time resulted in a goal so it is time to simplify their game in their own end tonight, otherwise they played a good gmae

Yes. This has been their calling-card of a bad game most of the season. I know it is one of the most infuriating things for fans of any team, but I hope they can clear their own zone in a more straightforward and effective way tonight.

This would be part two of my "the good news is we can play much better still" comments.

:
Red Zone Hours of Operation
Game 3 (April 16) and Game 4 (April 18)
5:30pm to 7:30pm Puckdrop (weather permitting)

Red Zone at Scotiabank Place
The pre-game plaza party outside Gate 1 of Scotiabank Plaza kicks off 2 hours before puck drop for weekday home playoff games and 3 hours prior to puck drop for weekend home playoff games. The Red Zone will close at puck drop.

Fans wishing to experience the Red Zone without having a ticket to the playoff game may do so and enjoy the game from Bert’s Bar or Frank Finnigan’s restaurants. For more information check out:

I know a lot of people are excited (as they should be) about the prospects we have coming but there time will come. CBC is Toronto... that's as far Canadian as it gets..

Going to the game tonight... Thankfully -- better ice. For a famous arena like Madison Square Garden... that ice looked awful. They spent millions of dollars on renovations last summer.. they should have fixed their ice first.

If Scott is in the lineup for the Rangers.. advantage Sens. If the Rangers keep up their goon tactics.. more suspensions on the way. But will the Rangers be as tough on the road -- a la Boyle .. as they are on home ice..

Go Sens... let's get that win... Fingers crossed Alfie is playing.. then Tortorella will be screamly bloody murder.

So Konopka gets fined the same amount Weber did for turnbuckling Zetterberg.

I don't mind this so much. Slap on the wrist really (just because Weber got fined the same when that one should have been more doesn't change that this is a minimum fine). And who's to say it wasn't audible on TV? I didn't see the MSG feed but even it wasn't it could have been and I'm sure Konopka wasn't saying "good luck" ... but some of the words might have rhymed with "luck".

O'Brien isn't going to get a lot of ice in the playoffs - that's just playoff hockey. O'Brien is great and all but he's not as good as our third line so his minutes are going to be lower.

He's the right guy to have dressed on that fourth line but his minutes make sense.

That sucks! It's a fun way to mingle and pre-party and I'm sure it is wild $$$ for the organization.

F**k Chicago, we should be called the Windy City. Has there been one day the past two weeks that wasn't windy? At least it has shifted to a nice warm wind as opposed to that dastardly chilly north wind we had going lately.

i didnt really mean i expect him to say anything specific baout the condition he may be in, either way im sure he doesnt even know if he will be playin for us this year.

as for the manly tweets, as long as his play stays physical, he can say whatever he wants. plus looking at the way he cuts his hair and dresses, hes just a typical european.

Yeah, and unless he suddenly booked for 8 o'clock emergency brain surgery, do you really think he wouldn't be there, in the press box at least watching the game?

Sounds like a silly rumor to me.

If he's experiencing concussion symptoms after all then he wouldn't be sitting the pressbox for the game - he'd be sent home to rest up for game 4.

Yeah I suppose that didn't occur to me. It's possible, however if he participated in full skate today it's be a bit of a stretch that being at the (raucous) venue would bother him so much.

We'll know very soon. I wouldn't be surprised at all if MacLean is up to some further roster misinformation once again this evening.

Is Klinkhammer a family friend and he told you himself he's playing tonight? Or did a family friend have a hunch they shared with you? Or is your uncle's neighbor the guy who changes the urinal cakes in the men's rooms at SBP?

That's a game that they deserved to win, having outplayed NYR for most of the night. If they keep it up for the balance of the series, they could take it. I am biased, but for all but 10 mins of game 1, the Sens have looked like the better team in the series. If they don't get through because of Hank, it is a good building block. If they get through, it is because they deserve it, and not some fluke.

Great game by a rebuilding team that wasnt suppose to make the playoffs. Im proud of the effort level. They outshot the top team 39-22 and for the most part outplayed them. Great effort by the SENS but like I`ve always said you won`t win games unless you score goals and right now Michalek and Spezza are getting shut down.

Also doesn`t help that Alfie isn`t playing. He better play on Wednesday.

I still don`t know why Mark Parrish hasn`t been given a chance, the guy has tons of experience (amazing on the PP)and is a legit goal scorer when given a chance to play with a top notch center like Spezza. Experience wins out over youth on this one.

Lol just like you guys are hating on Spezza, you can say the same for Rangers fans on Gaborik. Except that one goal he got in game 1, he has been completely invisible the last 2 games aswell.

I actually though that Gonchar played a solid game, he hip checked I think Girardi pretty nicely, he was physical. Only Gilroy has been completely useless, he is not physical at all, can't even lay down a body check.

Even though Lee got picked higher than he should have, I have never been a Lee hater. Lee would have been perfect for this series.

Where to begin? Seriously most of the posters on here are just embarrassing. You come on here to whine like over emotional losers after a game like that? Right now the 8th seed is wiping the floor with the 1st. I am nothing but proud of how well they are playing without the captain no less.

Spezza absolutely struggled in the first 40 minutes. It's was very clear he wanted to win so badly he was pushing every high risk edge on the ice. However, fans paying attention would have seen that in the finale frame he settled down and set up numerous scoring chances. He was exactly what we want out of him in that last period. If Spezza can keep his game under control and just simplify things a little bit he'll be just fine.

I can't really find much fault with the rest of the team. Everyone worked their ass off and generated 40 shots. You can complain about Michalek all you want Zipshit but defensively he was very good. This was a 1-0 hockey game not a 10 goal track meet. The tough match-up our 1st line is battling against opens up ice for the other 3.

Turris and Karlsson were easily the best Sens after Anderson. People who don't realize how well Turris played tonight are flat out blind. It cannot be ignored how many battles he's winning and how much he creates for his linemates. Shift after shift of that line killing their match-up tonight and without Alfie.

If Alfie is good to go for game 4 he'll probably join the top line. Give that line a chance to win it's match-up and let Turris, Foligno, and Butler keep on kicking ass on the 2nd.

Go Sens Go! Support them or fuck off. They're playing great for a team in year 1 of a rebuild. Seriously, fucking bunch of emotional pussies on here tonight.

Unbelievable game tonight, WITHOUT Alfie! Sens dominated from puck drop. I've never seen some of the guys play the way they did. The Turris line was fantastic, probably the best game I've seen from Nick Foligno play in his professional career. He was terrific. Andy was an absolute stud who kept them in the game all night. Sens clearly should have come out on top and left everything on the ice and threw everything on Ludquivst. Not much you can do with a goalie like that.

Great response without the Captain in the lineup. We'll get em game 4 and tie it up! Also kudos to the crowd for jacking the building up by far much better than the fans at MSG.

Sens have clearly been the better squad against the so called mighty Rangers and I am very proud. I don't see how anyone can blast the team for tonight. They were terrific.

Can't wait till Wednesday.

GO SENS GO

Alright. Everyone needs to take a deep breath. We are down 2-1 in a 7 games series, this is far from over.

Turris got robbed by who is widely (and almost unanimously) regarded as the best goaltender in the league. Why it is his fault, I do not know.

While I didn't think Spezza had his greatest game in terms of offensive dominance, I feel he made up for it in several different ways. He saved a goal for us - absolutely robbed the Rangers of a goal in a 0-0 game. I haven't heard anyone talking about that play...just pure shit spewing. He was throwing body checks all over the place which is incredibly rare for Spezza. Sometimes the offensive juices just don't flow and you try to do too much.

Butler was the player we all fell in love with last year. He got so much shit this season it was unbelievably. He came into a HUGE game and played like a man on fire.

Foligno was incredible for us again tonight. The kid is proving that he is a second line player, finally. He probably could have potted a couple tonight but once again, we were playing against the best goalie in the league, and one of the best defenses in the league.

Cowen was one of the best Senators on the ice tonight if you ask me. The kid played like he was a grizzled veteran. Made some amazing (but not necessarily "big television" defensive plays in this game and made some good decisions with the puck.

Karlsson was Karlsson.

Phillips played what was easily his best game in a Sens uni since our cup run in 07. He was great. Made some big plays and held that blueline together.

And then there was Anderson. Do I even need to say anything about him?

The most glaring offensive mistake Spezza made was during a 4 on 4 in period 2. Turris left a nice back pass for him, Spezza was going all alone across the slot.

I was thinking he was going to shoot, but no, he ended making a pass to turris in front of the net despite Turris being covered.

If I remember correctly, Spezza scored a goal on Rangers, by skating across the slot and wristing a shot past through lundqvist in a 3-0 win they had a while back. He was under similar circumstances today, but chose to pass instead.

First time poster (since the days of the new site anyway!), long-time reader.

Absolutely agree 100% with ChrisT. Effort level was through the roof tonight. Easily the best and hardest working I have seen this team play this season. Who would have thought the Sens would out hit the Rangers! Dominated in every category except on the scoreboard. Unfortunately that's where it counts. They ran into a hot goalie, though, and nothing more.

The bashing really is completely out of line after a game like this. I really question the team's fan base at times, especially after comments like these. I think everyone needs to take a deep breath and remember 1) we were expected to finish 15th in the East this year and 2) we likley just played our best playoff game since the 2007 cup run against the top seed in the East and didn't look one bit out of place, in fact it was New York that looks like the questionable top seed.

Thats where most people make the mistake, you think a guy like Parise or Iginla just watch play develop? A pure goalscorer would have buried that beauty pass from Spezza after undressing Lundqvist...Tur ris was just watching Spezza in awe...we need a goal scorer badly.

I was at the game last night and it was easily the best 1 goal game I've ever been too.

The fans brought it all night long and I spent most of the game jumping outta my seat or sitting on the edge. There were a few plays where our guys double clutched before shooting which was likely the difference. With that said, it's hard to one time a puck that won't settle down.

Nothing but good things from that game!

Keep at it Boys....

I rewatched the game and maintain that Spezza was pretty horrible...that being said(and I've said it before kinda forgot about it in the moment though) he doesn't have a bonefide star finisher. Michalek is 1000000% not this kind of player, yeah at times he is great but the consistency and I assume drive (maybe just ability) just isn't high enough...do I think he is as useless as some here...hell no, does he have a spot on this team post rebuild....not sure, haven't seen enough of our prospects to know but I would suspect he ends up on the second line, where I suspect he would excel and he would look better. I think he is a borderline 1st line player and a good 2nd liner.

Oh and Cowen is looking more and more like a big game player...wow he was possessed tonight

Classic case of a player trying to do too much. Spezza will bounce back next game. He looked absolutely bagged at the end of the game, no one can question the effort or his character.

Bobby! There you are! Where have you been!

Loved the effort tonight, we played good enough to win and ran into a supremely talented tender.

Get'em in G4... Go Sens Go!

P.s. Very proud of our fans tonight! Awesome support for the boys. Way to go Ottawa!

Great game overall, we dissevered a better fait but that’s playoff hockey, normally the team with best goalie wins (Quick in LA) and tonight here with King Henrik.

Am I the only one that doesn’t understand why Greening isn’t on the top line? He played his best hockey there all year and it was the only place he ever produced points?

Thought Bobby played a decent game considering all the circumstances but it was a pretty typical game. Every shot came from the far perimeter and he skated around at 100 miles per hour and didn’t seem to accomplish much. With the guys coming in next year there won’t be room for him. This will be his last stint in the sens top 6 before he gets moved in the offseason.

I am very proud of the way the boys played tonight and all series (for the most part). It seems like with every game we are getting better and to be honest, last night the only thing stopping us from a rout was Lundqvist. Its unbelievable that some idiots on here are saying the series is done.

Butler was amazing last night and played his heart out. Anderson stood on his head. Condra, Neil, Konopka, Karlsson all played amazing. Spezza probably had his worst game in a while but he is going to learn from it and come out hard on Wednesday.

As fans we need to support our team when they are not riding the emotional high of a win, that's our job. Stop being bandwagon fans and ride this out until the end. We surprised everyone by making the playoffs, so lets just enjoy it while it's around.

Not sure why people are bitching.

We played a phenomenal game. I'm very proud of the way we played. You cannot discredit Lundquist. There's a reason why he was arguably the best tender all year.

Major respect to Andy. This is how we need him to play.

It's up to the players in front of him to get the job done. I thought Butler played well for his first playoff game of the series, and Karl seemed to have stepped up. That 2 on 1 defensive play had me out of my seat. I thought for sure they were going to score! It was really one of those games where I kept thinking, if Alfie were there, we would have scored.

Let's bounce back and take the next game though!

I can't remember the last time I saw a Sens team with this kind of heart and effort. This team is definitely "All In". The loss of Alfie, especially on the pp last night is and will be huge. All the necessary pieces for a Stanley cup contender have now been assembled by the Murray's, except for top 6 talent. Spezza, Michalek and Turris are there, of course Alfie but we know he won't be here for ever. If the draft picks work out and a few of them develop as expected, we could be in for a hell of a ride for years to come.

This series is far from over but whatever happens this team is growing by leaps and bounds right in front of our eyes.

SBP was electric last night! I'm so proud of the way the boys played last night. We out hit, out blocked, out shot, and out skated the top team in the conference.

I thought most of the guys played a great game. I really liked the way Butler came in and played in Alfie's absence on the second line with Turris and Foligno.

Smith played his best game of the series by far. Pretty much every one of our forwards did their job except for Michalek and Spezza.

Milo was invisible and Spezza played his worst game by far. I just don't understand it. Spezza finally shakes off his reputation of being a soft, one-dimensional player, and then he goes out and has a series like this.

We need you Spezz. Show us why you're one of the best players in the world.

Also, as great as Lundqvist was, Anderson was better. The Rangers don't give up many high quality scoring chances, so Lundqvist didn't have to make too many difficult saves. Anderson made a few monster game saving stops. He was unreal in that game.

Real Sens fans were loud and proud last night. Too bad a few morons (usual suspects - good old Tookie, ZipZapSHIT etc) always have a negative mentality. They were shtting on Spezza and MM but what exactly did Richards and Gaborick tonight?

This is the way the Rangers won the majority of their games this year. Looks like you have to face 6 goalies. all the players are jumping all over the place to stop the puck. If we keep working them hard like last night, they will get so tired, we will then have our chances to win some games.

I believe.

All I'm reading here is EVERYONE ON THIS TEAMS SUCKS! BLOW IT UP! Jesus...one loss. Ya it's huge, but what happened to the attitude of "everything is gravy" in the playoffs? If this team played the EXACT same game, it would go the other way 9 times out of 10. ON TO GAME 4!

Who the Heck is thumbing down all the posts about how great of an effort our players did last night?

F*Ck OFF, and F* You!

Honestly, that was a great effort, a great game last night!

If it wasn't for Spezza, we would not be at the Play-Offs at all.

We'll get them Game 4, 5 and 6.

I don't understand all the Spezza hating??? If not for him we wouldn't be in the playoff in the first place. Also, who do you think the Rangers main focus are when defending, Spezza and Karlsson the only "real" offensively gifted players on the team. Also who's that idiot alfie lover (not saying aflie is a bad player by any means)saying that Spezza is not captain material cause he never accomplished anything in the playoffs? As much as I love Aflie as a captain and player, WTF has he ever done in the playoffs, but yet every Ottawa fan stand by him no matter what? I just don't get this double standard bullshit.

That was an amazing game last night. We honestly should be really excited for the future of this team. If you look at the lineup and see how many young kids we have playing for us, and see that we outplayed the Rangers for the majority of the game and only lost by 1, it's pretty impressive what these kids can do.

As well, the crowd at SBP was amazing. I have never been to a game before that left my ears ringing by the end of the night. Great job Sens and great job Ottawa fans for really showing some amazing spirit last night. Let's show them what we've got in game 4.

Difference between a win and a loss last night was Alfie. That is all.

Only real negative I have from that game or even this series so far is fucking Filip Kuba. The guy is absolutely horrible. I would love to see Carkner in and Kuba out for game 4 but I doubt that would happen. Kuba is so unbelievable soft and slow. It's disgusting to watch. What a shitty hockey player.

Alfie wasn't the only difference last night. If it wasn't for the Rangers' goaltending, the score easily could have been in Ottawa's favour. As well, the Sens had way to many open net opportunities that were not buried. The young kids are thinking too long before releasing the puck. Alfie's presence was missed, but not the difference maker in the loss last night.

Kuba actually had a pretty solid game last night. Gilroy on the other hand is way too soft and needs to sit.
