With a playoff spot locked up after back to back wins over the weekend, Paul MacLean elected to give his team a full day off.
And while the Senators won’t know their first round opponent for at least another day, it certainly appears as though they are on a collision course with the defending Stanley Cup Champion, Boston Bruins.
When you consider the fact that the Bruins have owned the Sens the last couple of seasons and are the defending champs, the Senators would definitely be the underdogs heading into that first round match up. The way this season has gone so far, I think that’s a role that suite the Senators just fine.
One reason why the Bruins have had so much success against Ottawa the last couple of seasons has been the play of Tim Thomas. With that in mind, Senators fans are already coming up with ways to get into the head of the opposition’s goalie. And after a highly publicized decision to not go with the White House earlier this season, it appears as though fans in the Nation’s Capital have found their ammo.
I came across both these ideas over on HFBoards and SensNation and I think they would be a perfect way to greet Tim Thomas, should the Bruins end up being Ottawa’s first round opponent.
Chants are always a good way to get in the opposing goalie’s head space during a game and why not a little “Yes We Can” chant to get the attention of Timmy. Or if that’s not enough to throw Timmy T off his game, how about having Sens fans dress in white, with white towels, and rename SBP, The White House.
Welcome to the White House, Mr. Thomas.
Senators fans will have a chance to practice these ideas on Thursday night when the Sens close out their home schedule against the Boston Bruins.
It's going to be as tough of a test as they can face in the first round, but i wouldn't say that it is an impossible task IF they show up firing on all cylinders.
Off-topic for a moment, if you don't mind.
I don't know how log you've had this site up and running, but I wanted to say thanks for the last season and a half that I have been regularly reading your blogs, and the resulting replies.
I think this last calendar year has been more important, and interesting, then any in the Sens brief history. It was great to have somewhere to vent last year, and even better to talk about where the team is heading this season - and finally celebrating their successful 2011/2012, and hopefully beyond.
Thanks again for your efforts, and insight.
Go Sens Go.
Because finish 6th could mean Florida/Washing ton and then NYR in the 2nd round. I'd be happy with that
Otherwise, we cant beat the Bruins over 7 games. In fact, I expect we'd get swept. It's a nightmare matchup in terms of the style they play. Their forecheck is lethal and will wear the Sens blueline down
If anything I would think chants such as O-Ba-Ma would be better.
What about having Harper invite Obama to do a ceremonial puck drop before game 3?
Well I noticed that the conversation was shifting to ideas for the Bruins series so it seemed like a good time to put up the new post.
Thanks, I really appreciate it. It can be tough to keep up with the site sometimes but it's awesome to know that fans enjoy it.
Thomas is a legit member of the Tea Party and about as right wing as you can get. Coming to the capital of a legitimately democratic nation can't be comfortable for him.
Throw in some Obama masks, "Yes We Can" chants and plenty of signs and we'll make him the focus of the series.
Feel free to head straight to the golf course then pal. The rest of are going to get excited for playoff hockey and expect the Sens to compete.
Can we win a series against Boston?
YES WE CAN
Go SENS Go! Yes We Can
Finishing 6th might not be the easy route. If Washington takes out Florida, I would watch out if we were the 6th place team. Ovi back and humming, Backstrom back in and toppling Florida would mean they are on probably the best roll of all teams in the East.
leads the OHL playoff scoring race with
14 points (7g, 7a) in his first 6 games.
I'm liking this draft pick MORE and MORE
That would be classic. Unlikely that Obama would even agree to do it, but what about that Obama impersonator? I'm sure that guy could use the gig!!
Maybe also play a few Obama clips on the jumbotron...
Go Sens GO!
Spendzza
Again, the Sens org cannot endorse something like that. Hilarious though it would be there's no chance they hire an Obama impersonator.
Now that doesn't stop someone else from hiring one or wearing an Obama mask etc.
Anderson, Foligno**, who else? cause getting them to do some lip service on thomas would be good, although after hwta he went through last yera its pretty obvious he can't be knocked off his game, considering he was chirping in press conferences in the playoffs, hitting forwards, nothing rattles him
Absolutely not
Anyone who's going to the game spread the word and get those Obama/White house ideas going, that would be amazing!
GO SENS GO
"O BA MA"
Obama Masks
SBP as The White House
These all need to happen - spread the word - through radio, facebook, twitter...this needs to go viral in the city
That would be a little over the edge.
i'm pretty sure is joking! come on he must be jokin?
LINE - CROSSED !
Chris Neil - 13 Goals
Chris Phillips - 19 points
Kaspars Daugavins - 11 points
Scot Gomez - 11 Points total
Essentially daugavins at 7 million less has provided to Ottawa what gomez does to Montreal offensively but defensively as well. Also When Neil scored against Philly it actually caught me by surprise to see that he has 13 on the eyar. Pretty impressive!
maybe that's about 4 years too late
YES WE CAN beat the Bruins...maybe. ..not betting cash on it though...$5 bucks, get outta here....
This isn't Pacers vs Knicks circa 1995
Is that you Jerkoff Jim Jerome ?
F
That would be absolutely epic!!
Drew Doughty: 2 Power Play Goals
Seriously this is a full moon type of year
The Ottawa Sun reports that prospect Mika Zibanejad, the Senators’ No. 1 pick in the 2011 draft, could join the club later this week.
His season with Sweden’s Djurgarden is over and he’d come to North America. The centre won’t play since the Senators don’t want to burn a year on his contract, but assistant GM Tim Murray would like Zibanejad to join the club’s AHL affiliate in Binghamton for the rest of the season.
“The idea would be to send him there and have him play a few games,” said Murray. “Then, we could call him up at the end of the season. We’re checking the rules to see if he can play there. If he can, we’ll do it.”
HoweverThomas and the Bruins really did go into a tailspin after that White House debacle... it seemed to split up the room, that was a big sore spot for a team, the team has to play as a team, and did not go together as a team.
"What's the matter Thomas your Capital not good enought for you? Wanna meet Stephen Harper?
We should absolutely use that rift, to get into their heads, and keep picking that wound.
Many excellent ideas to use
Obama lookalike at our games would be hilarious...not sure how realistic
OBAMA chants instead of THOMAS
White House etc.
Lets keep brainstorming as there is plenty of material, and we should really come together and get into his head.
Go Sens Go!!!
Normally and we have been the favorites, and there is a huge sense of anxiety and tension as we approach our first game. But this year b/c we really do have nothing to lose, we have exceeded most expectations, and are now playing with house money, fans and players seem to be very happy with the team and our success.
We have nothing to lose, and the SC champions, are well, the SC champs, and will be feeling all the pressure and we can go in there steel a game, then it is anyones series, if not and they lose 4 straigh, they will still get a standing Ovation at their last game,
We love this group of Sens,
Go Sens and Go Fans, love these ideas!
Wow, how quickly I forgot about that moron Jerome. I am so glad he is gone.
The Devils are playing some great hockey.. they face the Islanders tomorrow at home.. then go to Detroit.. then home to the Sens.
Is it too much to dream that the Isles & Detroit beat the Devils.. and the Sens beat the Canes & the Bruins... with that final game for 6th overall...
I don't care about the Capitals... unless their team has changed a lot.. they are not built for the playoffs. Frustrate Ovi.. and he tries to do it all himself.. hurting his team more. Backstrom is a great player -- him & Laich are the only ones that really concern me...
Go for 6th guys... let someone else worry about the Bruins...
Of course I'd rather play the Panthers or Capitals, but I'm not scared of the Bruins. I think we can "rise above" and relish the underdog role.
Yes we can!
Nice idea, here is something that would be the icing on the cake for ypur idea. How's about Obama does a ceremonial puck drop for game 3.
HAHAHAHA if there's one thing racists hate, it's being called a racist... and foreign people
all of these SENSCHIRP READER's need to lighten up
hahah, that wasn't a swear, I actually wrote SC reader
While we're talking about something that will never happen - why not have Obama dress on our second line?
Is it too late to sign Freddie Brathwaite as our back-up? Just have him sitting on the bench staring down Thomas.
F
Were better off just cheering loud and crazy for our Sens players and hope the boost gets our guys scoring on Thomas.
However (sigh) If you insist on playing the White House card, you might as well get some guys together together and don the ex-presidents masks (ala "Point Break") and wait for Thomas outside SBP with cricket bats and a get-away car. Would have more of an effect I think then trying to get into the guys head.
JMO.
C'mon that's a C- at worst.
I still wouldn't want Elliott back, he is not THAT good.
Sens can beat the Bruins, and have done so. Question is, can they beat them over a stretch of 7 games. Tall order, but I think they can.
We'll surprise everyone again, by upsetting the Bruins in round 1.
KJ
While I agree rattling Thomas is not likely I have seen others bring up the valid point that the Bruins have not been cohesive since the White House fiasco - so perhaps more attention to that will get under the skin of other players.
And heck, ANY excuse to get people at SBP making noise of any kind.
For most realistic use, I would hope its Chris Neil that scores the goal
Let's pick up that douchebag Avery for one game... let him skate by Thomas to say that so should he get suspended, who cares!?
Or maybe he could wave his arms around like he's trying to land a fighter jet on an aircraft carrier again.. that worked against the Devils, didn't it? Oh wait.. no it didn't...
https://twitter.com/#!/HaxDan/status/186886029192605696/photo/1
Anyways I think we should just be LOUD, no matter what we decide to do!
What Karlsson is doing this year is so much more impressive than what Mike Green did four years ago (31 goals and 73 points in 68 games). For one, a slight breeze brushing across his jersey doesn't send him to the IR for two months. For two, Karlsson doesn't have quite the caliber of star power to feed the puck to (or be fed by) on the power play. You drafted Karlsson expecting perhaps an upgrade to 55 or maybe even 60 points. You were willing to take the plus/minus hit for that, since he was a minus-30 last campaign. Instead, it looks like you're getting 80 points and at this point a plus-18. Even more amazing — on December 16 he had two goals in 33 games. So scoring 17 in his next 44 is certainly comparable to what Green did
It would be a huge trade off for us, but I doubt Julien lets that happen again, Chara is by no means an enforcer, only wins most of his fights cuz he's stronger and throws the guy to the ice.
Well Ovie & Backstrom could be compared to our Spezza & Alfie of this year. Both Alfie and Spezza are world class players.
He got his ring, I think he's pretty comfortale be a Bruin. Knowing Kelly and being the class act guy that he is, he'd probably be happy for Ottawa and the guys. He's already got his ring.
WOW
Let's not forget Corvo.
"Uh oh" Joe Corvo who wanted to fight Kyle Turris (that known hooligan and monster!).
“Let’s just say I’ll be looking for him right off the bat,” Corvo said Monday. “I’m not (happy). Two days I’ve been walking around with a headache. Just because I didn’t lay down on the ice and get carted off and miss a period ... I don’t know ... it doesn’t mean that it wasn’t a cheapshot.
“In my opinion, he saw my numbers and took the opportunity to seek revenge for the game prior when we were at home. Hopefully he’s a man and he’ll step up (Tuesday) when I come after him. I’m not going to try and hurt him, but I want to fight him.”
And of course where was Corvo on that Tuesday game? Not looking for Turris - or if he was he sure didn't look hard. Lucic ended up running over Turris late in the game (taking a penalty) since Corvo's sack had fallen off once he hit the ice.
LOL
Yes We Can
Thomas Fears Obama
Welcome to the White House
Chara Fears Neil
Four More Years
Believe It
A Tribute to Alfie!!! Don't forget about him this week!! Join this event if you are going!!!
GO SENS GO!!!
If the Sens can come out hard in the 1st game and get that win.. that puts more pressure on the Bruins. Thomas has been good.. but has had his bad moments since that White House visit.... fire pucks from everywhere... oh and practice a lot to actually hit the net with those shots.
Just happy they are in the playoffs.... as McLean called it.. more building blocks for the future.
True that, he has always been streaky, remember that 11 game winning streak? I believe he had another run like that in his career before that even, next year he will
Be nothing again and st louis will be wishing they kept bishop. Also even with those numbers i believe halak will still start in the playoffs
Corvo issued an aopology for that, publicly taking back what he said about wanting to fight Turris, probably Boston coaches told him they dont want him fighting with a damaged head, lol!
Karlsson's cooling off (it's all relative) of late started after the Rangers game where they targetted him, made sure they finished every check on him and generally knocked him about.
Karlsson is good enough to find a way through that sort of behaviour but one thing that can be guaranteed is that he's going to have to work harder to create space and time for himself in the playoffs.
You cut the supply line from Karlsson to the rest of the team and it takes away the biggest part of our offence.
I think both Halak & Elliott's great stats are a result of the team that plays in front of them. They don't give up a lot of shots or prime scoring opportunities.
Elliott has played well... but that well? Put him on any other team right now... would the stats be the same?
I heard part of an interview that Hitchcock did and he spoke of Elliott and said he was challenging the puck... or something to that.. in the past. He was being too aggressive on the puck -- less is more..
Now why didn't Walmsley see that?
I find it more likely that he apologized to avoid any action from the league. Whether Shanny called him/the Bruins or whether someone on the Bruins got Corvo to apologize first we may never know.
The way Corvo has played this year Boston would probably be fine with Corvo fighting Turris. Just like we'd be fine with Gilroy fighting Bergeron.
Agreed and to me that's the absolute best part about making the playoffs this year: Karlsson will see what he has to do in order to get to yet another level. Other young guys too (Turris, Greening, Cowen etc). Even if we're 4 and out (which we won't be) you just can't get that sort of experience in the regular season.
it has everything to do with hitchcock, nothing to do with what Wamsley did or didn't do
Look at what Hitchcock made Leclaire and Mason into in Columbus. Leclaire had 8 shutouts one year, Mason Rookie of the Year, and now what?
Hitchcock has done this everywhere he went. Similarily Dave Tippett in Phoenix has done the same with Bryzgalov and now Smith
Systems, Systems, Systems
Let's not forget what Jacques Martin did for Patrick Lalime.
It will be interesting to see if he continues throughout the years. Obviously he won't keep those numbers but it is ridiculous homerism to suggest he isnt good and hitchcock deserves the credit. If you are bashing elliott, you are really bashing Sens goalie development, not Elliott's ability.
focus your energy on bashing Thomas!
BMurr just said Zibanejad will be coming over after his last game with hopes of him playing a few AHL games in Binghy over the weekend. Depeding on how he does, I guess that means we may see him in Ottawa for the playoffs.
I agree. We have a luxury of being in the playoffs when we aren't meant to be and no expectations other than the professional ones the coaches and players have to do their best and win every game.
This might be a little too bold because I don't think we are as good as they were then, but I see parallels with this experience and that of the penguins in 2007 when we beat them.
bump
I'm just excited to see them play... especially Silfverberg, since he hasn't had a taste of the big show yet.
Can't wait!
I was at the Guelph Storm/Plymouth Whalers game last night and got to see him play. He is such a strong prescense on the ice and takes it hard to the net every shift. I can"t wait to see him continue to grow.
Interesting that they may be willing to burn a year on Zibanejad just to get him here for the playoffs. Hopefully there's a loophole in the rules for this. I think Silfverberg will be a great addition on either Spezza or Turris' wing, though that 2nd line has been flying ever since Foligno rejoined them.
The Sens are SYSTEM team - Zibby had 9 games of it and Silfverberg 0 - not sure adding either guy in is worth it at this point.
I trust the 'stache to know best of course, but it's not like getting Winchester back (who knows the system) or even adding in a Bingo guy (who'd have played the same system in Bingo).
I didn't get the impression they planned to use him and cost them the ELC year. Just that they are bringing him here to play last remaining bingo games and then practice and be with the Sens during the playoffs to get a sense of what its like. I'd say he only gets into a game if it was an absolutely desperate situation.
yah this seems very confusing.
I cannot see how Zibby can now come in and make a huge difference, when only a few short months ago, it was pretty clear he could not make our top 6.
However Silfver is awfully tempting.
Agreed do not budge Alfie/Turris/Fo ligno, but putting Silfver with Spezz and MM9, could prove fairly lethal, especially if he can finish like everyone says he can.
As a GM you don't want every key contract coming up RFA in the same year so burning a year here or there will help ensure a bit of balance.
Plus it's often seen as a sort of good will gesture by the players which can help foster a long-term relationship.
So if they decide to burn a year off Zibby's deal I don't think it would be some huge sacrifice.
Though as others have stated, I don't expect them to. He's not going to make or break games for us at this point so why put all that pressure on him by burning a year, inserting him into the lineup and asking him to produce? Let him play a couple of games in Bingo with Lehner, Petersson and the boys then let him practice with the team as a Black Ace.
My understanding is that whether he plays in the NHL or Bingo it burns a year at this point. Has anyone heard any different?
Burning a year this year for Zibanejad puts him and Silfverberg on schedule to be re-signed at the same time. I would prefer to keep them offset by a year personally.
Silfverberg has a year burned either way.
Zibanejad only burns a year if he plays another NHL game.
Are you sure that if he plays in the AHL it wouldn't count? (talking about Zibanejad only here)
Fairly certain but of course I'm no lawyer. The quotes I've seen all seem to talk about putting him in Bingo for a couple of games but no plan to have him play in Ottawa. So that makes me think Bingo doesn't burn a year otherwise why play him 2 AHL games (unless it's expressly because they WANT to burn a year)?
We are ready for the playoffs right now, this year. Erik Carlsson, young defenceman, ready for playoff "Prime time!" Kyle Turris, young centerman, ready for playoff "Prime time!" Yes, even if we need the "Rock Star" he's ready.
Wait until the Tranna Prognosticators see "Andy" in the playoffs...
The future is now...Boston Bruins don't want any part of us in the playoffs...that dork, who said Boston is going to sweep us hasn't been talking to Tim Thomas.
i'm no expert at all but I checked Brayden Schenn as a comparable. He is under contract still until 2013/2014 under his 3-year ELC. So two more years after this. ON CapGeek - 2010/11 is listed as a SLIDE YEAR which I assume means his ELC slid to this year meaning he didnt burn a year. Last year he played in the CHL, AHL and NHL. Therefore, I think you can play anywhere except the NHL (over 9 games) to avoid burning a year when you are still under a certain age.
I think that's why the quote says BM has to check with the league on the specifics. My understanding is his pro contract kicks no matter if he's in the AHL or NHL. Either way this situation will finally give us that answer once and for all.
“The idea would be to send him there and have him play a few games,” said Murray. “Then, we could call him up at the end of the season. We’re checking the rules to see if he can play there. If he can, we’ll do it.”
Brayden Schenn's didnt kick in until this year despite playing in the AHL last year so I dunno, I think Mika can play in the AHL without harming his ELC year.
Ah good point spezzerman. Thanks!
Zibby's pro contract in Sweden had an out clause in it should he make the NHL team. That clause also prevented him from playing in the AHL this season. That is why we were forced to send him back to the SEL instead of playing in the AHL, which Murray and the club would have preferred.
Now, as his season is done, that clause would allow for him to come back to North America and play with our AHL affiliate much like the agreement between the CHL and NHL. Once the CHL season was completed Jared Cowen was allowed to join our AHL affiliate for the playoff run last season even though he was not allowed to develop there while still of Jr. eligibility.
As with other ELC players, They have to play in 9 NHL regular season games to have a year of their contract burned. Therefore playing a couple games with the AHL team next weekend would not burn the first year of his ELC. Once the playoffs start, should the ELC player have no contract obligations to another team (SEL or CHL) he should be able to 'recalled' from Binghamton to Ottawa and any games he plays with us, because they are playoffs games, would not put him over that 9 game threshold needed to burn the first year from his contract.
Not sure what you mean but that doesn't surprise me.
I totally think we've got as good a chance as any team in the playoffs. But unlike any other team I think our short and long-term future is brighter than any other team's.
The rebuild isn't over - it's still in the early stages, it just turns out we're (apparently) building something even greater than we thought we were.
Great post and all accurate (I think) except 9 games is okay, it's the 10th that burns the year.
So I think you meant either of:
They have to play in 10 NHL regular season games to have a year of their contract burned.
Or
They can play in 9 NHL regular season games without having a year of their contract burned.
Because his season would be complete. And he is "property" of the Ottawa Senators.
I'm sure the rules allowing for it would have aspects from both the way that Radulov was able to come back from the KHL with Nashville midway through the season without having to clear waivers
and
the way that a young prospect (ie. Zibby, Cowen last year) was allowed to join the NHL/AHL while not playing games for us during the season.
Correct.
And also, his ELC didn't have a "slide" clause. So the year on his deal is gone no matter what.
That was exactly what I meant. 9 games is OK, 10 is not. Sorry about the typo folks.
Gotta agree with Hax on this one. The org hasn't let us down once this year (okay... Gilroy mulligan...) but still, especially if Mika is not expected to see Sens time, why rush and bother doing this. Get these kids on their off-season programs and let them build chemistry starting at camp next fall.
Consider it as basically a pre- pre-season for them with the Senators. Zibby will play two games for the AHL affiliate which is not going to the playoffs. He would then join the big club as a reserve and most likely just sit in the press box and practice with the club.
Silfverberg will most likely do the same unless McLean sees enough from him in practice that he would bump a 'regular' guy into his spot in the press box. And if that is the case, I trust McLean's judgement.
Plus if when we get into the playoffs, we have a guy like Alfie, Milo, Spezz or Turris (our only 4 guaranteed to be in the top 6 players) injured, wouldn't it be nice to have another skilled guy who could dress in the top 6 instead of trying to bump Condra up to the 1st line? They would most likely only be used as injury replacements or in the case that they were able to legitimately be a better option than someone else in our top 6.
AnyHoo GO SENS GO!
To answer your question, its because he's not a free agent signing, he is and always has been a part of this team ever since he signed his deal. It can kick in whenever they choose - including playoffs. The year they signed Winchester, he was only eligible for regular season games because it was past the cut off date.
I used to love Tim Thomas, on and off the ice. Always thought he was the definition of class but when he didn't go to that, I lost a ton of respect for him. Whether its because he's a racist or actually has differences with government, it makes no difference, you go with your team as a team and for the team.
Ottawa should heckle the shit out of him, because he didn't play well for a few weeks after that incident. He got so much media attention, and it was all negative - it definitely threw him off.
It would be an unreal experience for both of them regardless of number of games played.
F is for "Forlorn!"
Clearly you have never had a chance to sit in a tavern and get to hear and recieve the Oral History of Professional Hockey right from the Pros (after a Molson or two) it's the way they talk to each other. Note: the Ridles...they talk in incomplete thoughts...on purpose!
Nothing you write makes sense to me.
Zibby is now done his contractual obligations with the SEL, having completed this, he can now come back to us.
He can complete the year in the AHL, and then b/c he has always been under our team, he can play in the playoffs which do not count towards the 9 NHL games, as they do not get paid to play in the playoffs.
Silfver, already loses a year on ELC, b/c of age, so we have nothing to lose by bringing him in,
And from there i think ChrisT has really summed up the rest, more tools in PM box in case we need them at some point,
now it is making some sense... I hope
quote]
Whether he is a racist or is exercising his rights as a citizen to complain about what he sees as an unfair Government sure as hell makes a difference to me how I see the guy
This isn't a tavern.
You're not a "PRO".
Communicate in complete sentences if you want us to understand you and take you seriously.
Exactly how many concussions have you had?
(and there are two As in grammar by the way)
Well said sir! Lets focus on cheering our lungs out for the Sens playes and not worry about trying to get under the skin of Thomas, who has already shown hes just fine an dandy under preassure.
Meh. I think we can do both. I think this would be a good way to have some fun with playoffs and any distraction we can create for Thomas, will be to the Sens advantage.
None of their games against us in the playoffs because I'm a sens fan.
GO SENS GO!
LMAO !
Hax - you're a funny dude !
I agree!
We also have Stone (Brandon), Kramer (Spokane), Culek (Rimouski) and Pageau (Chicoutimi) advancing.
I agree as well.
Barrie beat Mississauga 3-2 in OT. Round 2 is now set. 67's and Colts. G1/2 Fri/Sun in Ottawa. G3/4 Tue/Thu in Barrie. #OHLPlayoffs
Greening? Tried others on top line and the top line produces when he's there. Please prove me wrong...
Second line Turris alfie and whoever is hot. I guess this is where he fits. Do you expect more from silvfberg than say foligno? First game ever is a playoff game? Rush much?
Totally agree. Have him practice with the team, get to know the boys and if, if, we have an injury to a top 6 guy then maybe slot JC in.
I know I'll sound like the biggest HOMER but I don't think that the BRUINS will be able to intimidate us! I think the SENS will prove to be a bad matchup for the SENS. Love having Winny back. We'll be tough in the faceoff circle.
i love this turris kid. he looks like hes going to be a playoff type kinda of player.
(by the way i saw my first sens victory live this year, im 1 for 16) does that make me the badluck guy?
I hope you're right. But that brings to mind yet another positive to making the playoffs this year (i.e. early in the rebuild). As we're evaluating all these young guys that might be part of our future we get to see which ones turn it up a notch in the playoffs and which ones won't. I really don't see any floaters on this team but you never truly know until you get into a playoff series.
If nothing else, we'll at least confirm that Turris, Karlsson, Cowen etc are just as solid in the playoffs as they have been all year.
Yes we can!
ive come to the conclusion that tsn is a bunch of leaf fans in love with crosby, dont think too much into what they write
You try way too hard... give it a rest and take a crash course on writing. There's a reason why no one reads your blog, give that one a thought.
"Hax, you, Sandy and the Apostle, talk like little old hockey men from the 1950's!"
What do little old hockey men from the 1950's talk like?
"Erik Carlsson..."
Was this done on purpose? Why?
"ready for playoff "Prime time!" Kyle Turris, young centerman, ready for playoff "Prime time!" Yes, even if we need the "Rock Star" he's ready."
What does the "Prime time!" supposed to do? And where are the use of proper punctuation? What effect are you trying to accomplish with this 'style' of writing? In fact, what is your point? Are you trying to say that we have 3 guys ready for "prime time"? If so, why not just state that point instead of writing like you just got dropped on your head?
"Wait until the Tranna Prognosticators see "Andy" in the playoffs..."
I guess you call Anderson as "Andy" beause he's like your bff? And who are the "Tranna Prognosticators".
"that dork, who said Boston is going to sweep us hasn't been talking to Tim Thomas"
Have you?
Anyways, hope you can clarify because I haven't been dropped on my head enough times yet. You're clearly on another level than the rest of us.
This guy has a blog? Wow. Does it come with free acid?
Excellent analysis, Sir.
Bafflegab !
YES!!!!
Oh, wait. It's not.
As you were.
Well actually, if we win and jersey lose in reg then thursday's game could be for 6th place lol
so in that sense yes, it is must win :)
True enough. Though I'm getting too pumped to YesWeCan all night vs Thomas to want to play anyone else.
Just like the players you guys all need to ride this one game at a time, stay focused on the task at hand. Tonight is the Alfie tribute countdown, worry about 'Yes We Can' later, when and if we even play Boston. :cP
So......
GO SENS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Second can't play 6th in the second round.
Too excited can't think straight!
LOL no worries.
Bottom line is, this is a game. Albeit an intense one. Razz him out if you want to fire him up, but leave the personal stuff out of it. Please, it's bullying.
Just like I don't consider it "personal" to chant Siiiiiiiiiiilvv vvvvvvvveeeeeee errrrrrrrrrrr at Ryan Miller to remind him of his silver medal in the last Olympics.
I agree that the comments about racism are over the top but the Yes We Can chants and signs are fair game in my opinion.
Or should I say 1hr 11 mins due to server posting time...
Maybe next hour?
Ben Bishop has now skated for 4 straight days. Today was first day with team. If he feels ok tomorrow, he may back-up vs BOS on Thursday.
Paul MacLean says Gonchar will miss tonight's game with a lower-body injury. Sounds like a precautionary move.
Cmon really? Yes I do agree to not crossing the line on the racism... however Thomas clearly wanted to make a point and a public stand, to everyone with his snub to the White House.
I can go to work functions, and still be angry with some people in the organization... to purposely miss an important function and I have now made a public statement.
He made his personal political opinions more important than the team, and it caused some issues.
Now we should exploit them, especially if it does bother him.
I find the booing of our captain in our own home by Laff fans, more offensive, than picking on Thomas for chosing to be more important than the team... IMO of course
Thank you Hax, it seems I am sitting her talking to myself for some time, and whats worse is I sometimes find myself even arguing with me :)
