You really gotta hand it to the Winnipeg Jets and their fans.
The Senators had them on the ropes a number of times in this hockey game and the Jets refused to quit. This loss likely ends their playoff hopes but I can't say enough good things about the fight this team showed and the energy provided by their fans. This was hands down, the most entertaining Senators game of the season.
In case you needed any more convincing that Erik Karlsson should be the favourite for the Norris Trophy, Karlsson turned it up a notch in a crucial game. The 21 year old logged over 25 minutes of ice time, picked up three assists to bring his season point total to 76 and was an impressive +5. Analysts (like Darren Pang) may point to the odd defensive miscue but the fact is Karlsson is the best defenceman in the league this year.
Give him the damn Norris Trophy.
Also really liked the game of Jason Spezza tonight. He took a couple penalties and was able to channel that frustration into one of the nicest assists you'll see all season. Spezza, who had been battling the flu the last week or so, now has 81 points on the year and seems to be ramping his game up down the stretch.
Wouldn't be fair to not at least mention the highlight reel goal by Kaspars Daugavins. Terrific patience, a slick dangle to the middle of the ice and a great finish for his 5th of the year. He really stepped up his game after that goal too and his line with Smith and Condra was excellent in the third period.
And what can you say about Daniel Alfredsson?
The guy just gets it done when it matters. Plain and simple. After what appeared to be a deflating and questionable goal by Evander Kane, it was the Captain that stepped up when his team needed him most. His 26th of the season sucked the life out of the MTS Centre and was exactly the response the Senators needed.
With tonight's win, the Sens give themselves a four point cushion over the Sabres and Capitals. Those two teams play each other tomorrow night.

Just unreal!
Sens seem to be rounding into form at just the right time. Although The Jets kept it close, to me Ottawa looked to be the better team most of the night and the more playoff ready.
Nothing quite like playoff hockey!
Needless to say I am still awake.
Having a hard time finding much of anything to criticize right now.
If you didn't catch the game, you missed a great one.
Karlsson with 3 points and +5, Kuba with a point and +3. Kudos goes to PM for letting Karlsson and our D take risks.
Absolutely EPIC game! Praise Alfie, what would we ever do without him!
Sens4Life my friends! Sens4frickenLife!
GO SENS GO!!!!
Now, if only SBP was that rockin' every night.. and had less Laughs/Habs fans filling up our seats... The good news though is that Ottawa is growing with more and more companies (such as RIM) moving into the area and bringing/employ ing thousands of people.
Going to be a quiet week, watching the other games though. Hoping WSH wins tomorrow.. in regulation. And that the Devils drop a few games so we can jump them.
Orr / Coffey / Potvin all won the Norris Trophy as well
Good catch. Got lost in the cut and paste. Thanks for the heads up!
Now that its over..I actually feel a little bad for the Jets. Id love if they made the show instead of a team like Buffalo or the Caps....but tonight we needed the points too. Once the game was done...and you saw the faces of the Jets players and even the fans like they just lost a 7 game series...you couldnt help but feel a little bad. Sorry Jets fans...I really mean that...but bad timing for a couple of Canadian teams needing points.
Looooooooooong break till Saturday. We all know were going to go crazy...but we have some scoreboard watching to do.
Night everyone...chee rs and GSG!
Just my opinion...but he might have got hurt in some way. He couldnt have been benched...espec ially after that rebound goal in the end of the first.
Hope hes okay if in fact...it is an injury.
There is no way Karlsson can be denied the Norris. No way.
Miss him telling us how lucky we were.
Running his "Fail for Nail" campaign over at habschirp.com ?
Actually, I'd rather see Washington losing than Buffalo, because in case we tie, we have more wins and regulation wins than Buffalo, while Washington has more regulation wins than us.
Who won the "one of us gets to kick Glenn Healy in the groin"
lottery ?
EVERYTHING MAKES SENSE NOW!
Except he wasn't taking that one from us!
That Spezza dangle on the Turris goal was disgusting....H e was so pissed about getting those calls, he just stormed out there and proved his point, that will be on the highlight reels for awhile. Too bad Anderson ruined it for him 24 seconds later, but they won so all is forgiven...
GO SENS GOOOO!!!!!
I have never been so insanely annoying at a game before. All for a good cause.
BTW, I got on TSN: (although they missed my (The Spezza Network sign [ http://i.imgur.com/7rgr6.jpg ], which unfortunately fell underneath the ice, yup, during the 2nd period.) http://imgur.com/pfxZm *only Sens Jersey there. LOL
It will be the same come playoff time in a few weeks! Anderson will have to play on top of his head if we are going to do any damage and all 4 lines are going to have to contribute in a big way as well!
With Klinkhammer only getting 8-10 minutes a game, I'm wondering if the Sens should give Mark Parrish a call up for Saturdays game against Philly and see what he can do. He's definitely got loads of NHL experience and that could help the Sens come playoff time especially if we meet the Bruins.
Nope. Klinks played pretty flawless tonight. No reason for change yet.
talk about bounce back player of the year.
30 points and +29
dude needs some love.
It's pretty easy not to make any mistakes when you only play 8 minutes a game!
But I do agree that Klinks is playing well but it would be interesting to see if Parrish has any thing left to offer up at the NHL level. Like I said before if the Sens play the Bruins in the first round they will need four experienced solid lines to have a chance and that's where experienced guys like Winchester and Parrish come into play.
He seemed quit solid from about 10ft away. No complaints about Kubes tonight. Our defense played as good as possible in the MTS Center for all intensive purposes. It may have looked lacklustre on tv, but in person, our D men were clearing the crease like professionals. It was awesome.
While I do agree that Parrish has perhaps played well enough to earn a shot, Klinks has not played poor enough (see: Gilroy) to lose his shot. If his play slips, I'd welcome the change, but until then. Nope. So far so good.
Ottawa has 34 ROWs.
Washington has 36.
Buffalo has 30.
I'll be cheering for a Washington win tonight. I will also be cheering against the Devils, but that's pretty standard.
I totally forgot about the fact that, after the trade deadline, teams are only allowed so many non-emergency call-ups from the AHL. The Team 1200 mentioned that the Senators only have 2 or 3 of these non-emergency call-ups (I believe each team has 4 to start with) left.
While it's still somewhat debatable whether a move could have been made, it makes much more sense in that context.
After a night like last night, it looks like Alfie really wants it.
@NickG
This sounds like a Ricky-ism! Made me laugh :)
"It's just survival of the fitness, boys"
Holy Fuck! ~ Turris to Spezza
So now we know, refs get Spezza upset, he becomes a monster!
I saw your Spezza sign on SportsNet... and yes, you are the luckiest Sens fan last night. How did you ever score those beauty tickets?
Chirp, you mentioned Spezza has 80 points, but they are showing 81 in the stats on TSN. Even checked NHL.com, same thing. Either you calculated wrong or they changed a state from last night. Either way, he's in 4th place overall which is pretty damn sweet!!! EK is now tied for 6th with Neal. That's some pretty sweet company if you ask me.
Loved the Spezza dangle, very slick. Not sure its better than that move on Theodore way back when, but it was sweet!!!
I brought up the ROW yesterday, if we happen to fall to 8th or tie with anyone, it's better to be Buffalo as they only have 30. But if we can keep up the wins, we won't need to worry about it. :)
All I can say is waking up today, enjoying my coffee and watching the highlights one more time, the day just seems much brighter.
They added a Spezza assist late to Michalek's empty netter...
LOL...that made me laugh out-loud at work. It actually looked like turris was stunned for a fraction of a second after seeing spezza undressed all of the jet's team with his dangle and put it right on turris' stick with an empty net.
Ok...time to sound a little bias: I know that there are many types of captains, and that there are many, many great ones, and I don't mean any disrespect to any other captains by this statement. But MAN AM I GLAD that when our team is in trouble and really needs a great play that even though many players would of retired by now, that I still look for OUR captain to lead the charge to victory. AND HE RARELY DISAPOINTS!!! Time, and time again...same story (even in the Boston loss not long ago when he one-time slapped those 2 scores, it still made me smile and eased the pain).
I don't see toronto looking at phaneuf that way when they need help, or even many other good captain (like iginla...not bashing him, great leadership guy), just don't strike me as being the same when the team REALLY needs someone to step up and save the day...alfie just has that ability to produce when the team are in their deepest needs.
But like I said...probably a little biased ;)
If that happens it could make for an interesting playoff run
He really battled last night. Made some big stops. It does still look like puck handling is a bit of an issue for him though.
I hope last night showed some of the Daugavins haters that he deserves to be on the team (especially over Konopka). He had an amazing goal (almost twice) and played well when he was on the ice. Looking forward to more of that line tearing it up!
Do you guys really blame him for the 1st one? It jumped over his stick, its not like he mishandled it... Cowen on the other hand doesnt paste his guy into the boards, clearly seeing what just happened.
He really battled last night. Made some big stops. It does still look like puck handling is a bit of an issue for him though.
He did look like he was playing the puck a bit hard, but oh my -there were a few lucky/questiona ble bounces last night. I thought he really played hard, and except for that minor hiccup when he couldn't play the puck properly, he played well. Made the big stops when he needed to, was agressive and generally had solid positioning.
You're right Patrick 2.0 Alfie is a great Capitain who's very clutch. There's only 1 other guy that I can mention on being "clutch" and that's none other then the best player in the world... Crosby.
God I hope we can give him a cup before he retires. We are very lucky to have such a class act Capitain that played his whole carreer for us. Go Alfie GO and Go sens Go !
He hasn't looked slow and when he jumps up in the play he's making smart decisions and getting the puck on net.
historically, he's been a big game player that gets better in the playoffs and I'm hoping that he can do that again this year.
That Daugavins goal had me screaming at the top of my lungs, coulda swore I was watching Malkin dangling there for a minute... goes without saying that Spezza/Turris goal was *such* a thing of beauty, we got to see two of the best Sens goals of the year last night.
To be honest EK65 has been playing fairly poorly the past week but man did he ever have a resurgence last night with one of his strongest games lately, we are lucky if he is starting to peak just at the right time!
I am surprised nobody has mentioned the offense we generated from the blue line and from unexpected sources. Sure Karlsson and Gonch were pounding it from the blue line but what about Carks? He must have teed up at least three wicked slapshots on net, great to see and when all our blueliners are in FULL BLAST mode that bodes well for us.
Wow. Such a great effort and couldn't have come at a better time. Too bad we are on 4 days off before back-to-back afternoon games, need to do whatever we can to prepare to come out flying on Saturday!
Secondly look at the remaining schedules:
Capitals 84 (6)- BUF, @Bos, MTL, @Tbl, FLA, @Nyr
Sabres 84 (6)- @Wsh, PIT, @Tor, TOR, @Phi, @Bos
Buffalo will be hard pressed to catch up on our 4pt differential with games against Pit, Phi and Bos still to come, especially compared to Washingtons fairly easy Mtl, TB, Fla, NYI finish. So washington will get their points, so why not try and just have Buffalo drift away. Buffalo wins, Was will still get their pts, and it will remain a tight battle all the way to the end(with Buff playing Tor twice)
Stomp Buffalo down, I prefer them to make PO over Was, but at this point I don't care who makes it as long as Ott is one of them
SPL
Is this how we want it?
Carolina win over Toronto
Chicago win over New Jersey
New York Islanders win over Pittsburgh
Buffalo win over Washington
Tampa Bay win over Boston
Montreal win over Florida
Is this what is needed to help us?
Most would disagree with me, but with Toronto being out of the playoffs...I want them to rank as high as possible. My tenant is a Leafs fan, and he is in pure agony every game they win from now on.
Nope you want
Toronto win over Carolina (we don't want them to have a lottery pick right)
Chicago over New Jersey
NYI over Pittsburgh
Washington over Buf (see my previous post)
TB over Boston
Montreal over Florida

Can't argue much with what DD says
What are your realistic wishes?
Ceci may go in top 10, but I highly doubt a playoff team will be able to draft him as he should go top 15
Agreed - Go Leafs Go - get yourselves a shitty draft pick.
And Go Caps Go - While anything but a three point game is a positive, a Buffalo loss helps our chances of clinching playoffs while a Caps loss means we have a slightly tighter hold on 7th but actually a higher chance of falling to 9th if we lose a few games.
Wouldn't be surprised if Murray traded the pick for young dmen maybe Olsen or Barrie
Spezza was unreal. I actually shat myself a little but when he pulled that off. Alfie speaks for himself. Guy is Captain Clutch. Another GWG.
Love this team right now. Looking forward to seeing my first playoff game this year before I take off for the summer.
GO SENS GO!! Let's win a few more and prove all the haters/leaf lovers wrong wrong wrong!!!
If we don't like who that is then trade down the pick or up I suppose works too
I agree. To be honest, I love our prospect pool right now. And from what I've heard/seen/read regarding the draft after the top 5 the talent level drops significantly, and then after top 15 it drops even more (who you want at 20 could be there at 30 type thing)
I would love for Ottawa to trade down from our pick, to collect more assets. So trade 1st pick for 2 2nd round picks etc. We all know Murray's ability to draft, and we could fill more holes this way
Just looking at the mid term rankings.. man a ton of C's available.. I'm hoping we go for a solid RW. Alfie has to retire sometime, and after Milan, can't see who else will thrive with Turris as (eventually our leading C).. maybe Petersson...
The more I look into Sebastian Collberg, the more I'm finding the guy interesting, and hoping the Sens take a look at him (projected to go between 10-20).
Snatch Attack with the early lead after day 1 in the Fantasy Pool Finals... but can I hold on? Big night tonight with lots of players in action!
Lehtonin did you a huge favor by shitting the bed.. I've come from behind and just squeezed it out every round...will see if I have another miracle here
He sure did! I'm sure Hiller will return the favour! You could always drop Lehtonin and pick up Braden Holtby - I think he's available.
http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showthread.php?t=1144875
I agree with Alcatraz regarding Ceci. He'd be a really good pick but will likely go in the top 10. May be worth moving up to get him though.
Some rankings are predicting Alexander Galchenyuk could slip as far as 16th, and I would take him if he did, but I think he'll likely go top 10 as well.
Aside from those two I would be looking at a Dman or one of Malcolm Subban and Andrei Vasilevski. On D I like Derrick Pouliot and Ludvig Bystrom in that middle teen range, and I think either of those goalies could compete with Lehner for the next decade and we could use Bishop as a trading chip for a more established defensive prospect.
To clarify: When an NHL executive uses the term "best player available" they mean the guy is significantly better than any other option. To put it in NHL12 terms, if there's a guy with an overall of 74 and several guys with overalls of 73 - the guy with 74 is not considered "best player available" the way that term is used. If he's a 74 and there's nobody else in the 70s then he is the BPA and becomes a guy you draft regardless of what position he plays or what your organization needs.
So for Ottawa, I imagine they'll want to draft a D in the first round since (it seems) there should be one available who's pretty much equivalent to whatever forwards might be available at that time.
If for some reason lots of D get drafted before our pick I'd expect Murray to trade our pick rather than just draft a forward but of course that would depend on how high our own scouts rate the forward that we'd want to take.
PIT 112
BOS 98
FLO 96
NYR 108
PHI 104
NJD 97
OTT 94
BUF 94
Washington finishes with 92 (this of course can change based on tonight)
Leafs still projected to finish 13th.
LOL - you'd think so but if you recall last year before the draft most people did not understand the concept and felt that every team should blindly just take the next highest ranked player.
umm ok, was this you who wrote that thread?
So basically this should also mean that Nash playing with Staal is good for 80 goals right?
not a chance. he has come around of late but was still awful early and some of mid-season. michalek and kuba take the icing here
could happen
True, his hat trick comes to mind, but I don't see ENG as being meaningless to be honest. Icing a game away is crucial, just as Buffalo two weeks ago when they gave up last second goals to colorado and montreal.
Meaningless goals would be like 7th (Alfie) and 8th (Greening) goals vs Pittsburgh Saturday, and to be honest Ottawa has not had many games like that where goals were add ons/stat padders
Very true, but would you rather play a hot Florida team over an inconsistent Boston team? I'm not sure which I'd rather frankly. Florida has less experience of course and looks easier on paper but if they're hot coming in I'm not so sure.
please step a way from the computer, compose yourself and return to read what you just said
now lets make it easier on you lol Boston > hot florida team
Also hoping for a sabres win cuz we hold the tiebreaker against them and not the caps. I don't want to finish 8th and play the pens (when they catch NYR). I'll take my chances against the Bruins.
Just to be clear, was has much easier schedule and its more important to use that tiebreak in the 8th/9th situation than the 7/8th situation. Let washington win and put buff away
also pitt may win a lot of the reminaing games, but NYR is still NYR and can prob maintain their lead (and they have the TB also over Pitt)
Lets worry about clinching before we worry about seeding since we can still land up anywhere from 2-3-6-7-8
LOL
Not saying I'd outright rather play Boston but it's not completely black-and-white . Not like when you move from 7th to 6th and go from playing the second best team in the conference to a team that has a worse record than you do but happened to win their division (as has happened in years past).
For example in the West it would be much better to play San Jose (or whomever wins that division) than to play Vancouver.
I'd still probably face Florida but it's not like it's a guaranteed first round win either.
I have to agree man, I was one of the few that saw playing the Panthers as tougher than it looks but hell I'd rather play the Panthers than the Bruins. You dont want to play the Bruins in playoff hockey. Florida doesnt have playoff hockey in them, they will wear down and we win in 6.
He was more responsible later in the game defensively(may be he got a talking to).
Alfie is really an inspiration - his last 2 games have been amazing. He really is clutch!
GO SENS GO!
Exactly. And that's why we need caps to win.
I TOTALLY agree with the spirit of the post. I'm really loving SPEZZA this year. Alfredsson has been MIA for much of the last month, suddenly pops up with a couple of clutch goals and gets all the love. Not saying I don't think ALFIE RULES!!! But so does Spezza. That assist last night was better than I can do in NHL 12...
...Boston seems like a massive sleeping giant, that would ground and pound Ottawa (read: Ducks in SCF vs Ottawa) and would take us.
Sure we're not the same team as back then, we do have more grit, but Boston's grit has more skill (Lucic, Chara).
Completely agree. Spezza is an offense first type player. He is also good at it and he is really starting to be much more responible for his defensive coverage as well. Will he be the best 2 way center in the game? No. Is he playing to the best ability of his skills and keeping the offense moving? Yes.
I actually ran into Spezza Sunday morning. He was with his wife and daughter walking up and down Bank St in the Glebe. He seemed really happy. I am happy for him.
He is my favourite Sen and I had never seen him outside a hockey rink but no way was I going to go up to him and say anything. Give the man some respect and hopefully he will stay a Senator for life.
End of rant
I've noticed how in the defensive zone Spezza usually takes the winger role and covers a point, while Michalek takes the center role and follows the other team's center around, usually below the goal line. I suspect this is done to optimize Spezza's breakaway chances and minimize his defensive liability down low. Anyone else notice this?
where can I get one of those? maybe I can convince one of you fine people to send me one in NB? lol
I've been rocking a Sens flag from years past all this season...
Where are they selling new ones?
Yeah, Staal is so awesome that some 180 pound kid defensemen on the projected to be last place Senators has 12 more assists than him...
LOL
Haha you beat me to it, I would take Florida over just about anybody who could reasonably finish Top 5, especially Boston or Shittsburg.
Boston is such a physical team that bangs you into submission. I would like Ottawa's chances against Theodore rather than Thomas... but just to get in is an accomplishment regardless as to how far they go.
doesn't scotiabank branches usually give them out come playoff time..or they too cheap for that now?
Can't say enough about this team...words can't describe how giddy I am that we are in this position March 27th.
Can we also all acknowledge how AWESOME the Daug Bark is when he scores and fists pumps the bench??!?
All I kept thinking last night is what Cory Clouston's sour puss would have looked like if The Daug did that while he was coaching!
T-1000 would have shit a brick.
I love this team and love our coach.
So if we make the Playoffs, we're all growing moustaches right?!
As frightening as Movember was, I'm in for a playoff stache! We should try to get some publicity going around it, start with having all the main bloggers promoting it.
Having said that, I totally agree that Spezza is overdue for some extra love from the fans. A Spezza chant would be awesome.
Spezza and Karlsson are very similar - both have the skill to be excellent defensively but of course that's not the best use of their shifts so they focus on offense first.
While we ultimately lost the series I thought Spezza did an admirable job trying to limit Crosby in the playoffs two years ago. A task that nobody in the game could accomplish but Spezza did better than most could have.
In my view, at least, he has really improved his overall game, and emerged as a leader of this team. I thought the shot of him at the bench, last night, encouraging the team, at a key point of the game was fantastic.
Not that I think anyone is really hanging on what I think, but I am really impressed.
I hope there are some Spezza chants at the next home game. He deserves to hear that sort of thing.
Thats quite a feat considering he is 4th in overall points, shows his leadership abilities and willingness to play a "road" game style, (ie not pretty)
he is getting it done
Thank you sir
Consider this EVERY GAME
It's one thing to look at the stats and see Michalek has XX amount of points
but you gotta watch the games and see when these points are occurring and typically it is when the game is already over
Dude has 5 empty netters big f'ing deal, anyone can do that
Thumbs down all you want, I wouldn't expect the majority of you to be able to drop your pride for long enough to see reality
You guys have no case against me, that's why you thumbs down, it is all you got
If michalek was GOOD, you would have plenty of ammo against me, but we all know Michalek is useless and this was proven last night
He was -1 with 0 points in a 5-4 game until he got the empty netter
Enough said, anyone can fill his skates. He is a waste of top line ice time
Remember what happened when we read too far into CHeechoo's #'s!?!?
Scoring In October < Scoring in march
Especially impressive when you consider the fact that he is always drawing the other team's top defenders on the road.
Do you even watch the games? The guy is out there battling all the time, playing defense so that Spezza can high up in the zone to be the first up the ice. But regardless of all that, who would you rather have on the top line? Cheechoo? MEatley? Some unproven prospect?
Your post reeks of immature attention grabbing... not sure what that's all about.
Going to be a long time until our next game if this is where the blog conversation is going to go.
Only difference is that cheechoo's numbers were on a different team and trending downwards. Michalek, and only because of injury, trended downward last year, but his ppg and goals per game remained consistent
Spezza on the other hand 46 points in 46 playoff games
you will soon see how worthless he is.
Only the big boys show up at the end of the season
again, you have nothing on me, watch the games and see.
You can average out all the PPG crap you want
Reality is, the start of the season teams are bad and figuring things out, hence michaleks goals jump
Now where are those numbers now that teams have tightened up?!?!? (Besides empty netters)
You are all falling for stats, I 've seen every single game this year
Michalek isn't Stamkos. He is a defensively responsible second liner who will get 20-30 goals per season. Why hate on him for that?
Not saying you don't know anything, but I think the guys over at TSN who rank players and have Milan at 11th in the league in his position (http://tsn.ca/fantasy_news/feature/?ID=10464) probably know more.
Agreed. Spezza is much better offensively then Michalek. You are just another donkey that thinks every player in a teams top 9 should be point per game players. Like that is even possible outside of NHL12 due to talent pool /ice time/cap considerations.
How many of those games were with the Senators? 1!
And what line was he on when he played in the playoffs for San Jose? What was his +/- as he played on a checking/shut down line?
We don't need to have anything on you because you have nothing to start with.
"Michalek played amazing last night as usual. We would have lost without his top line quality play. What a game changer."
It's fun being delusional eh?
I was right face it, At the start of the game, I called out his usual lazy effort followed up by some stat padding at the end
It's classic michalek
and you are the classic butt munch fan
I dealt with your type when I wanted Heatly gone, Now look who is laughing
I know hockey, I know this team, deal with it
Until michalek can make a difference in the 1-2 periods, and late in the season.. then you cant come at me
This guy sounds like an adolescent version of Tookie... sad.
IGNORE!
Ok ill bite
9th in overall goals ahead of the likes of Kovalchuk, Eberle, Iginla, Tavares, D.Sedin, Ryder
ya worth nothing
BTw a win in October is worth just as much as a win in March. If he helped us get 10 wins in October and November they are just as important as getting us wins now. playoff time or not, 2 pts is 2 pts and count the same. Without his hot start we aren't where we are now.
And its not like he has cooled tremendously off
Finally he has 10 goals in 40 play off games, so 1/4 games, which in regular season translates to about 22 goals. In an evironment where its harder to score, and games are much tighter 22 goal season is pretty much what you would expect from him, and his skillset
If not than you arent at all hockey fans, but in fact disagreement fans
Haha what on earth are you talking about? The last two days of rants read like someone who put all the Senators names in a hat and then pulled out the guy he was gonna harp on to pass the time for a couple days.
Give it a rest.
He's a Tookie wannabe...
Foligno
Michalek
Gonchar
and rightfully so
Please list the random names I pulled out of a hat
or are you a liar?
I dont care what you guys say we will go nowhere with the empty net boys (michalek and foligno) in our top 6
Think of me when we fail and they are to blame, that is all
Did you just call me a wire?!
You are definately a "winner" I bet you also walk around town telling everyone that your winning..
I can't wait for tomorrow to hear your "Anderson is not a bonifide starter" rant, and then Thursday I'll promptly here your "Turris is overrated and Rundblad is already better than him rant"
Gonchar is the only player on that list who is playing lazy hockey, which is all I can fault a player for.
FREEBIRD !
Boom great to hear you coming around. I agree and think the chants would be a great way for the fans to thank him for all the hard work he's put in and leadership he is displaying!
Ignore the comments and continue about the semi interesting discussions that have been going on lately.
You're a dimwit troll and I hope somebody teabags you when you pass out.
Not 1 Bruin had a point/game in last year's cup run. And only 5 had greater than 50% production.
I will take his speed and size and his 16 points.
You're right, of course, but it's kind of like when you step in dog shit. Do you stop and scrape it off, or do you just ignore it, and keep on walking - knowing that it will eventually wear off, but annoy you until it does.
I'm choosing to keep on walking, and hope that he goes away.
They never gave out car flags!
Go to Canadian Tire and get 2 for $25 or Sens Store...
So Crappy Tire carries the new ones? Cool. Wish I went there earlier today instead of Home Depot.
The only one i have left standing, the one I've been rocking this year is a white flag with the 1997-2007 logo, I can't remember which year I bought it but I think it was 2003 the year we blew the East finals to the dirty Devils. It's still in pretty good shape but yeah I want to get a new one.
are you fuckin dany heatley?
YOUR THE BIGGEST WHINNER EVER! are you a leaf blower? you sound like one!
get bent, you make no sense. insurance goals are worth while, how many games did your blue/white smurf team lose because they couldn't finish, your a classic leaf fan.

If so, you can only ignore them so long I guess.
Quoting ZipZapRap:
Ummm no, another delusional statement
Foligno
Michalek
Gonchar
and rightfully so
Please list the random names I pulled out of a hat
or are you a liar?
Gonchar is the only player on that list who is playing lazy hockey, which is all I can fault a player for.
I think that statement is completely false i think that Gonchar deserves a lot more credit than that... He has stepped up his game considerably the only two pylons or lazy people out there lately are Phillips (disaster) and Gilroy (another disaster)
they are now 2-3-1 tied for 3rd place. djurgarden bascially need to win the remaining 4 games if they want any chance at returning at div 1.
from what ive read, zibanejad has turned up his game play this tournament. so far i know zibanejad does have 2 assists in the first 3 games. stats are pretty tough to find for this tournament. if someone knows, please do share. ill keep digging arround for more info.
You must get bullied at school alot.
As of today Zibanejad has 2 points in 6 games. He has been playing fourth line center for 5 of those games, including today. I have no Idea why he is on fourth line, because in the first game of the tournament he played second line center and got a point, and since then has been playing fourth line, and his team has been sucking. No doubt, that it has been a mistake returning him to a crappy team that is now bound to end up in a second division league, for development.
yeah its been a really rough season. ive read a few swedish scouts that think zibanejad should stay another year. its actaully pretty common that swedish forwards take 3+ years to come to the nhl (sedins, alfie, foppa, etc.)
i havent decided what my opinion is on whether we bring him or leave him. im somewhat leaning to bringing him but starting him in bingo or leaving him in sweden IF he is moved to a div 1 team.
and maybe he hasnt been performing at the top of his capabilities due to fatigue from a pretty long year for a kid his age.
I don't mind his game without the puck. He doesn't battle for it hard enough in my opinion. As an example, he could have prevented both of Miettinen's goals last night.
The way I see, it's mostly like he will end up the sens lineup next year. Because I see no reason why management would want to return Zibanejad to a team that got demoted to a second divsion league.
I don't think Zibanejad can start in Binghamton since he is 19, and he needs to be 20 to play their for full season. The only other option would be CHL or NHL for him next year I think. Most probably NHL.
Nino Niederreiter, has not played well at all this season. The only reason why he is still with the islanders lineup because he is too young to play in AHL, and too good for CHL.
Zibby's contract w hhis SEL team is done this year. Better a yr in bingo than a 2nd tier SWE team
No offense buddy but I dont think you know hockey that well at all just by reading your posts I can tell you havent watched michalek very much this season. I've also watched every sens game this year and out of michaleks 34 goals hes opened the scoring 8 times in games, 3 game tying goals 1 with 4 seconds left against the blue jackets and 1 with 2:50 left against the rangers, 3 game winners 10 goals that either put us up by 1 or 2 or put us in the game down by 1 or 2, 5 goals that dont really matter,5 empty net goals and 2 shootout goals. In total Milan has 24 meaningful goals 5 meaningless and 5 empty nets. To me Michaleks earned his spot on this team, get a clue guy.
Lol I forgot that Lehner was 19 years old last year. Then yah I guess Zibanejad is better of with Binghamton if he does not impress at training camp.
Great article and even without Senators bias I would suggest that both Spezz and EK65 deserve Hart consideration. It would be nice to see one of them get nominated, doesn't matter too much, Malkin will undoubtedly win in barring some miracle by another player. Giroux is also another good candidate for consideration.
Well stated.
Along with a half dozen other players, 9MM really does deserve a lot of credit for working hard and having a terrific year. Without a doubt he is a core component of our Top 6 and would be on any other roster as well.
zibanejad is a european player and doesn't have to wait until he's 20, only chl players have to follow that.
a little late on that response i guess.
That's #4 on the all-time list of stuff that you don't have to say if it's true. The only people who say/post them are people for whom it is categorically UNTRUE.
#1 - I'm not cheap
#2 - I'm cool
#3 - I'm good looking
#4 - I know hockey
#5 - I don't care what other people think
Game. Set. Match.
We have some really promising prospects can't wait to see them in Bingo next season.
We have so many amazing prospects it's borderline obscene! It will be a fun couple of years just watching the CURRENT pool of guys trickle towards the NHL.
Too bad the Sabres / Caps tilt isn't televised in Ottawa, would be fun t6o watch. At least TSN is carrying two games.
1-0 Buffalo
Have Leafs fans finally had enough??

Wow.
Eh? Which links? The ones in the comment section seem to work for me.
Ah sorry, missed that. It's only a problem on a mobile device then? Let me see if I can change that. Thanks for the heads up!

At 11:10 left in each period Sens fans do a count down to an Alfie chant at the 11 minute mark.
Yeah kinda a rip off of the Nordiques thing but who cares? I think it would be cool if it caught on.
Also out of curiosity who do we as Sens fans want to see win/lose the Buffalo/Washing ton game tonight?
If it could be pulled off, it would be awesome! Frankly we'd probably need the help of Team 1200 to spread the word...
Semin off faceoff 3-1.
We want Capitals to win since if we tied with them we would advance and if we tied with Sabres they would advance.

Nice to see the result of the Mike Fisher trade panning out.
I'm listening on the calgary feed

If anybody finds a video feed plz post it.
Bump
Weird scenario for Sabres/Leafs home-and-home series: Sens fans will be cheering for Toronto, but Leafs fans will want their team to lose.
Yah if you read on twitter apparently he completely dummied the defencemen and scored a beauty. Probably will be on youtube soon
thats sweet, i really wanna see it now LOL
WJC=under 20...stone can't play
You don't by any chance have the game recorded? TSN Jets kept ignoring me. Hahaha. I can't find any pics/video of it anywhere.
I obtained my ticket by having a very wealthy friend, and extremely odd/lucky circumstances.
Buffalo won
Bruins Tampa tied at 2
Stefan noeson 2g 3 a
Mark stone 1g 1a
10 second countdown at 11:10 is ON! You will definitely hear me vs Carolina!
BTW GOLF LEAFS GOLF! They're officially out
Ok so under20 but not 20? He turns21 in may after the tourney. Wouldn't 20
Be the max age?
Ok sorry SPEZZ I do love ya. I forgive you for cherry picking a little - u r pretty good when you get in the clear!
GO SENS GO!
Is Silfverburg still a possibility for the Playoffs CHIRP?
Would he be allowed to play - if so how would he be allowed to do so?

ill make sure to be as loud as possible too. we gotta tweet this like we all did with the lehnsanity. that got attention from all media arround. its the easiest way for us to spread the word these days.

Isn't it the other way around.. that Wash has more ROW than Ottawa and Buffalo less?
Doesn't matter...Sens have to beat out just one of them..who cares who it is. I think Buff makes it... Miller is just too strong at the moment.
Hilarious.
Quoting specko:
I'll be there second row from the glass right by the Ottawa Bench!
Haha!! That's the kind of person Sens need in the locker room.
@ SENS 19,
Have read all the comments back and forth, involving another guy who has ADD, and the response by SENS 19, is a true classic, in shoving this argument down ZipZapRap's
throat, and effectively shutting him down forever !!
Noticed that you forgot to move your clock ahead to Daylight Saving Time !!
Yup! And I can not seem to figure out how to change it. For now, SensChirp will continue to operate in its own time zone :)
No kidding. This week is going to be grueling.
For what it is worth....I was listening to TSN990 last night and Pierre Macguire was on...they asked him what % of a chance does Karlsson have of winning the Norris...He would not give a % but he seemed to feel that the award would go to Shea Webber. He did say that Karlsson would probably win one but didn't seem to think that it would be this year.
I think he is playing more than well enough to win...so here is hope PM is wrong.
