A night after Alex Auld gave up four goals to the Boston Bruins, the Ottawa Senators have acquired goaltender Ben Bishop from the St. Louis Blues.
With the move, the Sens add goaltending depth to the organization and with Craig Anderson sidelined indefinitely. give the organization some much needed depth in goal. A second round pick in 2013 is headed to the Blues.
With Robin Lehner considered to be the goalie of the future in Ottawa, Bishop provides the organization with some much needed depth between the pipes. The Sens will not say it publicly, but they have not been thrilled with the season Lehner has had in Bingo so the move makes sense.
BY adding Bishop, the Senators have a guy that can push Robin Lehner. Bishop is considered to be the best goalie not currently playing in the NHL.
The Senators have also signed Ben Bishop to a one year, one way extension.
Did Murray see enough last night to do that -- knowing Auld is not the one to carry the team until Anderson gets back?
2 rookies / unproven tenders sounds better to me than playing auld.. at least we don't expect INSTANT FAILURE
He's going on 26 and has 13 career starts...are 25 year olds still prospects?
I'm presuming the Sens know they can re-sign him in the summer. Bishop is the back-up for next year, Lehner to continue to try and prove himself in Bingo.
Like the move.
He signed a 1-year extension before the trade so he will be around next year (as Anderson's back-up).
They'll probably send Lehner back to Bingo and use Bishop and Auld until Anderson gets back. It'll be interesting to see how Bishop plays in the NHL
6 '7 tall he can probably sill cover the top of the net from his knees...
My guess is, Auld Walks at seasons end, bishop is resigned as the backup behind Anderson.
Lehner gets some playing time over the next few weeks as does bishop with Lehner going back down when Andy is back.
I'd assume Ottawa keeps 3 goalies in the bigs until they can evaluate Lehner and Bishop
Jimmy Howard was a prospect at 25...
Everyone knows goalies come into their own a lot later than other players. Best Goalie not currently in the NHL , Not old at all as far as goalies go. Good Trade Murray, Benny Bishop is a star in the making, he nearly made St.Louis this year over Elliot.
Konopka in if Turris is suspended.. = loss today... Konopka can't stay out of penalty box.
Wow do the leafs suck
-We now have another option to start while Anderson is still out
-He's been resigned to a one-year, one way contract, so we don't have to worry about bringing in a back-up for next season
-It allows us to continue to develop Lehner in the minors instead of rushing him in to be a back up next season
-It decreases the need to draft a goalie in the early rounds this season
-It gives us very good organizational depth at the goaltending position
-and also, who knows, maybe Bishop will become our goalie of the future?
Good trade Murray, I can now breathe a sigh of relief
6 '7 tall he can probably sill cover the top of the net from his knees...
My guess is, Auld Walks at seasons end, bishop stays as the backup behind Anderson.
Lehner gets some playing time over the next few weeks as does bishop with Lehner going back down when Andy is back.
I'd assume Ottawa keeps 3 goalies in the bigs until they can evaluate Lehner and Bishop
Jimmy Howard was a prospect at 25...
Auld hasn't really had much chance this year with Anderson being so damn consistent.. But i think its time to let him go trade him to tampa or better yet TO so we can make sure they don't make the post season !!
Fixed. I blame the punishing hangover I have right now.
"Ben Bishop gets things done"
"Ben Bishop doesn't take shit from anyone "
"Ben Bishop will sleep with you wife and after you WILL thank Ben Bishop"
Bad ass.
Here's hoping they give Auld a seat in the press box and/or waive him. Let bad ass Ben Bishop and Lehner play till Anderson is back.
From John Shannon's twitter:
Sens might have made another great trade in Bishop.NHL coach just told me "Bishop is better than half of the guys in NHL already"
Of course, since it's Campbell Jr.'s team, Turris will get suspended though. Carkner shooting the puck at Campbell's head yesterday probably didn't help.
Show the kid you're happy having him and let him shine!
Goaltenders bloom a lot later then skaters.
Pekka Rinne didn't crack Nashville until he was 25, same with Cory Schneider in Vancouver. Lundqvist, Bernier and Halak were all 23. Nabokov was 26. Backstrom, Hiller and Niemi weren't even drafted and didnt sign with an NHl team until their mid 20's. And lets not forget Tim Thomas, 32 when he played his first full NHL season.
I have to admit, before we started this rebuild over a year ago I wanted Murray to be fired along with his staff, but since he made that Fisher trade, I've loved every move Murray has made.
Huge hit by Neil last night... BAM
Hopefully there was a good rapport with Armstrong so that some of the Blue's logjam of RFA's can be acquired for good deals.
Good trade for the sens depth in goal depth at forward now Murray and boys retool that defence and this team is stronger then it's ever been !!!
Can't wait too see Big Ben in a sens jersey !!!!
We tried to claim Clitsome, but couldn't find him.
I think a one year deal suits everybody
Bishop knows he has a chance to impress and then sign a bigger deal later or take a run at the starting role in Ottawa.
Ottawa has a solid back-up in place for next year but isn't tied down to a longer deal if it doesn't work out for whatever reason.
Lehner doen't feel like he's going to be at the back of a queue for a long time and has motivation to challenge Bishop to be the back up the year after next.
Anderson still knows he is the undisputed number one but that there are players putting pressure on him to perform.
This is an amazing move for our Sens.
The guy is huge!!!!! I think we got a steal!
Can't be more. He hasn't done anything yet. Just has a high pedigree.
I love how everything can be resolved with violence in your world... Peluso was a great moniker. Any chance you can get a job as a politician? : )
Chirp? What have you heard on this?
Let's hope this guy turns out!
Grant is a great Ottawa-born player. Know him personally. Good mix of smarts, strength and skating ability. He's got offensive flair and is responsible defensively. Glad he's out of the abyss that is Columbus. I'm sure he's happy as well. Going to have a great time in Edmonton.
Wanna make a bet it's 5 games.... with Anderson out.. put the screws to Ottawa... let teams behind catch up...
I tooootally agree!!
When I saw this trade went down I was A) exstatic about aquiring "the best goalie outside the NHL" and
B)this clearly means there has been discussions between the teams. Hopefully we can get someone like Stewart, or Perron, or T.J Oshie, or Berglund
Not even close too 5 games max 1 game min 2500 dollar fine
I really did not know a lot about him.. but I caught the AHL skills competition... he basically stopped just about everything that came his way... He was supposed to be backup in St. Louis this season.. but Elliott took that away from him.
St. Louis had better hope that Elliott doesn't remember that he is Elliott...
Ya it prob. will knowing the sens luck
Well I remember you mentioning it months ago. Let's all hope it works out.
this trade makes a lot of sense for the blues because if you didnt know who is their "4th" goalie behind elliot halak and bishop. its jake allen (2008 goalie for canada in the WJC) and he has a promising future too.
as chirp pointed out, we still see lehner as our number 1 of the future with bishop right behind him now. i honestly have only seen bishop play once in a game vs bingo but that was a year ago so even his stats have improved since then. mind you bishop has a better team than lehner does right now. its still no excuse to use for lehner.
i still feel lehner's resume is still stronger with what he accomplished in the AHL compared to bishop who got all his awards in college hockey (even though im sure this year bishop if he was to continue in the AHL, he would get some of those recognition as well) and lehner is 5 years younger.
Past two #AHL All-Star MVPs - Ben Bishop and Bobby Butler - now in #Sens org. #BSens
I hope that's true
Too many good goalies in the system would be a problem we have never had before. A good problem to have.
As we all discussed here a few days ago, this is exactly what we needed to do. Lehner is the future, and unfortunately, the future isn't right now, nor is he ready as proven by his AHL numbers.
Someone posted earlier that many of the top NHL goaltenders did not boom until their mid 20s, and it's true. Howard, Rinne, Niemi, Schneider- all paid their dues. We keep saying how players have to earn their ice time, so what about Lehner? Just because he's one of 2 goalies in every other night, he gets a by pass? Wrong. He wants the job, he better start improving his play. We've all seen it.. a goalie can keep the team in the game no batter how bad they are playing in front of him.. that's what makes the difference between a good goalie and a great one.
We want Lehner to be a great one.
A Nash trade to Ottawa would make Iris Tommy very proud and either Bishop or Lehner with a 1st rounder and a prospect will get Nash here tomorrow. Get it done Murray and hurry up, you only have 26 hours.
You can't be serious. First of all, Bishop, a prospect and a 1st rounder is nowhere near enough to land Nash. Second, the Sens don't want or need Nash. They are rebuilding. Why bring in a vet with 7 years left on a $7.8 million contract???
FACEPALM!
Why would we ever want PK? The guy thinks he's above the team. He's had altercations with 4 different teammates at practice throughout this one season.
i hope you are being sarcastic
you know that if we drafted a goalie this year (theres still a chance) it would have been 2nd or 3rd round (since thats where majority of the goalies are projected to go other than vasilevski and subban at 1st) we get a fully developed unproven NHL ready goalie for a 2nd. the only position we had 0 depth in. and islanders wouldnt give away nilsson, they have a ton of goalie but all of them suck. plus bishop and lehner are much more proven than nilsson
Apparently the asking price for Nash is a highend defensive prospect, a goaltender with starter potential, a first round pick, and a young roster player with top six potential.
We'd be looking at something like Cowen, Foligno, Lehner, and a 1st for Nash and that may not even be enough.
Maybe more like Cowen, Zibanejad, Lehner, and a 1st....
no way should Ottawa make a deal like that.
It's called being intense. He's a cocky sob yes, but he is without a doubt an awesome D-man.
Not really the point of getting Malcolm Subban though as he would make our goaltending, along with Andy, Bishop, and Lehner, the envy of the NHL for years to come. As well as putting us in a position to have great assets that can land big players in the big trades in a few years if the team needs a boost to win it all.
Plus it must be a pretty frustrating room to be in for those boys in MTL with their management being the train wreck that it is.
Kyle Turris won't be suspended for his hit. Will be in lineup today vs NYI.
I respect your opinion greatly, but I don’t agree. I’ve spent years following goalie prospects and to me Bishop isn’t worth a 2nd rounder. People can spin whichever way they want, but a 2nd rounder for Bishop is a HUGE OVERPAYMENT.
We could of got Dan Taylor (local guy from Orleans) who is the same age as Bishop and almost same numbers in the AHL of either Bishop or Nilsson for FREE (he doesn’t have a NHL contact and as a .923%).
Sign him too then... :)
Why doesn't he have a contract if his numbers are that good?
No doubt, Lehner is flipping his shit. If he's a good kid, he'll stay focused on getting better. If not, he'll hope to be traded.
PK is a very talented and highly entertaining to watch.
BUT he is NOT a Paul McLean type of player.
His brother the goalie on the other hand might be another "Tony Esposito"
The kid is 25yrs old!...the sens could get 5years out of him...thats well beyond the 3yr plan the Melynk and Murray have established.
Its not like they traded for Kolzig or Turco.
LOL, scouts are saying this guy is the best goalie prospect not in the NHL. I guess they're all wrong and you know more about it because you "spent years following goalie prospects"
PK playing for John Tortorella in the BIG APPLE would be a dream scenario doe the NLH marketing department.
Some goalies take time to grow. Taylor was a LA kings draft pick many years ago, but LA was really deep with goalies and before you knew it, he fell down the depth chart. This years he's proven a lot, but he would be a sleeper sign, not many GM's want a smaller sized goalie, but sleeper never the less. Maybe not better then Bishop, lehner or Nilsson, but Taylor would be FREE, hence a 2nd ronder for Bishop is an overpayment and even more so because we have Lehner.
It would be interesting. I hate the Habs but think PK is a beast. Imagine,
Cowen-Karlsson
Lee-Subban
Gonchar-Phillips
Hey chirp does bishop still have to play 15 NHL games this year or we lose him? Just according to his current contract. Or since we've resigned him to a one way extension does that void his current agreement since he's been traded/resigned ?
Michalek - Spezza - Butler
Greening - Turris - Alfredsson
Foligno - O'Brien - Neil
Condra - Smith - Daugavins
Extra: Konopka, Windchester, Peter Regin?
Kuba - Karlsson
Cowen - Gonchar
Phillips - Lee
Extra: Carkner
Anderson
Auld
Extra: Bishop
we have depth but I think we need one top 6 forward and 1 top 6 D-man. not rental obviously
Brian Elliott is the main reason the #Sens could have Ben Bishop. #TheGiftThatKee psGiving
Hopefully, everyone will get the message that you have to produce to stay in the NHL & no one will take it for granted. Another good message sent by Murray to his team.
where are all the suspensions for the hits on winchester alfie etc early season shanahan? unbelievable
i thought the boarding call did it enough justice, even then i thought it was a pretty clean hit.
Where r you hearing this from?
This !
Col scouts at the game last night.
Lehner was likely AHL bound next year. Just look at Bishop, he's 25 and now getting his shot. He needs to understand that proper grooming takes time. I would expect to see Lehner make a real push in 2013-14 season. Best case scenario, Ottawa has three capable goalies and has to move one for a good return....
Ummm yeah...I don't think its because the Sens don't want Nash...trust me, they want him. They just can't afford to pay the asking price.
Sorry, but you're wrong with your statement.
Facepalm that.
MacLean confirms Lehner starting as well
...wait, did I say BM? Sorry, meant to reference the Fantasy GM that everyone here seems to like to equate BM too.
Ya, I went there... ;P
Do you have a link to this goalie scout hearsay? I say a 2nd rounder is too much for Bishop, you say it isn't too much. The facts are that we will find out in the future if it was a good deal or not. My opinion is it's an huge overpayment and we could of got Nilsson for cheaper or sleeper Danny Taylor from Orleans/sir wil high school for free. All 3 goalies have very similar stats this year in the AHL.
I looked up Taylor and it says he's from England. Did he go to high school in Orlean's prior to going to play for Guelph or is this a different Danny Taylor?
Damn auto correct is messing me up today
Edit: Hmm.. looks like I was just adding to what Mike Bauer said in his #102 comment
Lol, he was born there. Moved at 3 or something to Orleans. Played for cumberland grads junior A for 1 season, then the OHL for another and won goalie of the year both years. Then had wasn't doing too well for a couple years, but now he would be a sleeper sign for any team.
Ummmm yeah.....Sorry, you're incorrect. Actually, Im not sorry - you're just incorrect.
All of those goalies aren't Ben Bishop. When scouts and coaches all say he is ready for prime time, usually that means more than what OzzyB has to say. He was a third round pick, there is no way STL is letting him go with a pedigree for equal or lesser value.
Let me know when you become a GM of anything other than your fantasy league or NHL 12 GM mode though, ok?
Thanks.
http://www.torontosun.com/2012/02/26/turris-in-hot-water-for-hit
i guess it was my mistake to even bother looking at a toronto paper.
mendes and garrioch are right he is still playing i think?
Or bishop and lehner pan out to what they are expected and we trade 1 for more than a seconder rounder in the future.......th en doea this second rounder look like an overpayment? Not so much
Lol.. it doens't say anything in there about him being suspended.
Mendes and Garrioch have both tweeted he will not be suspended.
listen to how bias the commentaters are
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEpf5uVCu20
I agree with the Galiardi assessment. I think Ottawa is interested for sure.
I don't know how on earth you think they are going to get another 1st tomorrow... Maybe for Kuba, but thats a big maybe.
I wasn't being rude to anyone, I was just sharing my opionion. If scouts were correct 100% of the time, then all teams would be equal and everyones draft picks would pan out.
http://www.stltoday.com/sports/hockey/professional/bishop-traded-to-ottawa-for-nd-round-pick/article_5feaea6c-6098-11e1-ab0a-0019bb30f31a.html
I think the announcers were the only reason that there was a meeting for Turris today. Unbelievable homers.
Im not saying they're right all the time, but more often than not, they are right. Oh, and more often than not, they know more than you.
Just saying...
wow unbelievable, i had that article opened a few hours earlier and it said its a 1 game suspension but now as i read it over, it was edited. my apologies i guess?
Every team in the NHL would love to have Nash. My point was that Ottawa isn't in the running for him. They don't want a high priced veteran in return for a bunch of picks/prospects while in the middle of a rebuild. Now if they have a chance at signing a UFA like Parise, I'm sure they will
The facepalm was at someone saying the Bishop deal BETTER BE because they want to acquire Nash. Yes, I will continue to facepalm that
Ok, thanks for clearing that up. Glad we see eye to eye now.
Robin Lehner starts, Carkner out, Lee in. Turris is not suspended will play tonight
So am I. After reading all the posts last night, I don't wanna be on your black list! LOL
Oh and as far as Carkner goes, I seriously think he's played his last game (unless an injury occurs). He was flat out terrible last night
It was the same article from Garrioch that was on the Ottawa sun page. It must have been Leaf'ized before being allowed on the toronto sun page... lol
I agree with you. That’s why when this trade first happened; I thought to myself that Murray was up to something bigger, like getting Nash. But no one here wants a 30 year old super star to play with spezza and score 100pts each, so I guess I was wrong.
I am sure if they will, just more of hope as i would like to see them add a dman and a goalie in this years draft.
I would be all for Carks and Auld gone.
Murray says he will be sniffing for some forward depth, but doesn't have a guy in mind. Mayson Raymond would spark our third line nicely.
your hilarious Ben Bishop is the best player in the AHL and his stats show it. Hes playing on a team the is mediocre. BM knows that he can play in the NHL now and dosent have to wait. He stays with the plan of the rebuild.
You sound like a wanna be scout that just couldnt cut in.. saying that you have scouted goalies in the AHL for years... Then why are all of the actual scouts loving this deal and your really the only one who is talking shit about it ... and your proposal for Nash is absurd lol... lets give away 4 of our highly touted prospects for Nash to score 100pts when easily those prospects that you want to give up combine could be better than Nash individually and guaranteed will be better as a unit.. you should stick to dreaming ... O and i forgot that our team currently has so much trouble scoring goals this year .. your an absolute bonehead... heck why dont we throw Karlsson into the deal to get Nash as well
i know its only your opinion but wow its absurd
there is no need to give up what the blue jackets are asking for ... it would put aa huge dent in the rebuild ... like i said we are one of the highest scoring teams in the league already i do not think that scoring is our problem.. dont get me wrong Nash would be amazing along side spezz but would cost way to much
Even if we pick up the two points, we'd still be 7th because NJ has played fewer games. Just saying.
Easy answer. It's a message telling Lehner that he needs to pay his dues in the AHL, just like Bishop has. Nothing will come easy. If he puts in the time and effort, he will get a chance as well. If he sulks, he'll be an AHLer for life
As for Ozzy, i don't pay much attention to AHL goalies but where is it stated that it's a terrible idea to have more than one really good goalie prospect in the organisation?
The Bishop trade gives us options going into next year and the year after that. Options are rarely a bad thing.
I agree I like Bishop (6'7'' lol), but with so much Lehner hipe I was confused about this deal & still am a bit. Should we deal Lehner before the deadline? Lehner for a top 10 pick?
Darren pang just let us know on team 1200 that ben bishop is closer to 6'8" now.
lol so huge:)
Is that because Pang shrunk? Just kidding. Listening to Pang, it sounds like Bishop has a great attitude and is easily liked by his teammates. Hopefully it'll rub it off on Lehner.
Goalies generally take longer to develop. Bishop's development is ahead of whoever will be drafted this year. Based on what I've read, Bishop is NHL ready now and that's what we need. We need more depth now.
its gonna be like having chara in net!
100% agree. Lehner was given by media and fans the "goalie of the future" title without really having any competition in the organisation. Now he has it. If young forwards and young defenceman have to win their spot in training camp then so should the goalies. Guy is 6'8 and is quick laterally. I'm hyped about this acquisition. Now in an hour or so we get to see how Lehner responds to this. I think Lehner plays better with a little anger in him.
GO SENS GO !!!
SENS 4 Islanders 2
I hope Ottawa grabs some depth tomorrow !
-T.J. Galiardi LW RFA
-Paul Gaustad - C RFA
-Mason Raymond - RW RFA
-James van Riemsdyk - LW (I wish)
-Lubomir Visnovsky - D would look good with Cowen
I have a feeling Robin Lehner is going to put on a show today !!

Thanks!
The Bruin's game must have been pretty hard on them.
So tired of our "1st line" wingers being complete jokes
Michalek literally made it a joke when he got his first goal in what 20 games? Total chump waste of ice time
* Are the stats accurate? we have ZERO shots on net?!?!?!?
THUMBS DOWN MEANS YOU SUPPORT THE LACK OF PRODUCTION FROM MICHALEK AND BUTLER
NICE ONE IDIOTS
Critique Michalek and butlers Game today, Let me see what you see as we lose, is it the -1 and zero shots? that michalek has
is that why he is worthy of 1st line ice time?
If our whole team cant get a single shot on net OVER 10 minutes into the 1st, then something is wrong with our "top line"
Or are you gonna act like retards until we show up in the 3rd out of embarrassment? our team sucks with duds on the top line
No need to call people idiots, but I know how you feel. The minute you have a different opinion then someone, then they thumbs down. I've never been rude to anyone on here and will never. 2-3 People were rude to me today because my opinion was different then most peoples. I like to think outside the box, most people like to think inside the box.
, they just go with the flow of the masses, ignoring the facts
------------
Our forwards should be embarrassed
It takes Karlsson deep in the zone to draw a penalty
Let alone the goals the D have been scoring
Yes, this is why a 2nd rounder was a waste for Bishop. Murray comes out and says, if another goalie gets injured then we have no one else. What about if spezza gets injured though??? Then we really have no one else. We need another top 3 forward and any draft picks or prospects should have gone towards getting Nash. Nash is only 30; he would be perfect with spezza imo.
There is no excitement when these guys get the puck 9, 14, 16, 22, 23, 25, 42, 71
They get it and jack shit happens, and I know this so the games are brutal to watch
D men have nothing to offer on the score board besides 65
Inconsistency in net
Relying on two guys is tragic
I live in Barrie, centre of Leaf Land, so i dont see a lot of Sens Jersey's around. I dropped my Heritage Jersey off to get lettered. Are the letters and numbers suppose to be White? or Off white (The same cream color thats featured on the jersey)?
EEEEEEEEEYORE !
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-a8GX2C8CyqY/TodAeROKhDI/AAAAAAAAEek/rTavhXTum8s/s1600/OttawaSenatorsHeritageJerseyLaunchJerseyWallSensStoreSensTownBlog.JPG
So basically you want all 22 guys on the team to have the calibre of Spezza and Karlsson?...Wou dn't every team in the league?
What if Spezza got hurt after making that trade? Then we have no one to put in to help Nash because the cupboards are bare since we gave everything to CLB in the trade and we are left with just Rick Nash and all of a sudden we are the new Columbus Blue Jackets.
What if apocalypse 2012 comes true?? Then we won't need to do anything.
Now if only the Sens can get some momentum from Lehner's game so far!
Is that really what you got out of that???? Or is this just typical disagreement for the sake of it
A goal or two from TOP LINE WINGERS would be nice
Even a nice play would be nice
When was the last time Bobby f'ing Butler impressed you, or made a good play, same with Michalek, Big deal, he had one nice goal all of 2012 and it was last week
Michalek mocked himself after scoring his first in god knows how many games
Its a joke when Phillips scores, its a joke that foligno only gets empty net goals,
This team is all laughs at lack of production
Be realistic - we're a rebuilding team and you want to trade a slew of prospects and picks for a winger with a $7.8 million cap hit for the next five years?
Or we have to let our young guys go in 3 to 4 years because nash makes too much and starts to decline like someone else who remains nameless but plays in minny
Lol. Very true.
You were concerned with what if Spezza was injured however and that is what would happen if we sold the farm to get Nash. Don't get me wrong I think Nash is great and if we could have used the 2nd round pick that to get Nash instead of Bishop then, and then only is the 2nd for Bishop is a waste. Unfortunately Nash for a 2nd is even more ludicrous no isn't it.
Wow...and here I was proud of the fact that it's almost March and our team is battling for a playoff spot...
...God forbid we had the losing season that was predicted!
I never said that, but don't think it will cost as much as some people think:)
Just a revolving door of duds that Spezza is expected to revive or ignite
Spezza makes it pretty clear in interviews he plays best with consistent line mates, he like playing with Alfie, but that never happens
At the same time, there are other options. I still believe at least 1, but probably 2 of St Louis' 'top 6 calibre forwards' are available. Nobody seems to talk about it but they are absolutely littlered with big, fast, skilled forwards that would fit in beautifully on our team.
Even if they weren't on a budget they would still be getting rid of at least 1 of them. Its just not realistic/even fair to have 10plus forwards that could be 1st or 2nd line guys. It just doesn't work. Financially and for any hockey system. Moreover the players themselves will be getting frustrated with a lack of ice time. Then production starts to slip (aka the bad seasons that Stewart and Berglund are having). Now if anyone tells me those two players wouldn't be perfect in our system, they are crazy.
I'm praying that midst ben bishop trade talk there was something offered for some of they're forwards
Really?.. can any of you form a realistic argument??
it's sad, thumbs down and lousy assumptions, and then you walk away happy that you are "right"
but anyway, I've been a spezza fan since he was in the OHL, and I have always had his back
I was the one getting shit on for calling Spezza the (on ice) leader and future captain of the team for years now
Looks who is laughing now when it comes to those guys
there goes our best player
It was a joke, thanks for the thumbs down:)
..Uh, I think you are "arguing" with yourself...
We get it - you think the whole team sucks except Spezza and Karlsson...mayb e you should just cheer for another team? You seem really unhappy and your handle suggests you are reaaly bored - maybe the Leafs would make you happier if the Sens aren't doing it?
Oh, that dud Mikalek just scored - bye!
But dont be fooled , still doesnt make up for anything
---
See that is my point "bye"
Like one goal solves the problem, he was virtually pointless all of 2012
he scores on and you act like he is god again
get real
lets see him do that more than once or twice a month
then come at me with your "bye"
You just have no answer to me so you thumbs down, call me troll, and make up things about me
You probably think phillips is a scoring Genius since you have the memory of a gold fish
Is he ever!!!!!
Now THAT you can count on seeing regularly,
Spezza scoring
Our only true goal scorer is our playmaker lol
Suck it troll
Michalek and Spezza score
You know nothing
he is Excellent...
"you know nothing"
Im a spezza fan, and Michalek needs to score more than 2 in 2 months to win me over
Not sure what he did LATELY to win you over, but the start of the season is long over, this is the time for the big boys to play hockey
Lets see Michalek score as often as Spezza (in the second half) then we can talk about who knows what
Does 5 goals in his last 7 games qualify as doing something lately? Are you done yet?
Should we move him From D to wing?
And apparently "he's only scored one nice goal" he scored the EXACT same goal against winnipeg (byfuglien and pavelec instead of vokoun and wideman this time). hey look, you're wrong again.
nice "facts"
"Yeah I like how Michalek has like 5 points in his last what 30 games?"
Hey buddy, your moms calling, it's time for your nap.
hahahahahahhaha hahahahahahahah ahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahah ahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahah ahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahah hahahah pause hahahahahahahah ahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahah ahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahah ahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahah ahaha
Hey idiot, didn't you just say its time for the big boys to play hockey?
So, Philips and Michalek by your definition have stepped up. I ask you again, are you done?
He was done before he opened his yap
Then Michalek scores just to put the cherry on top
idiots go on stats
If you go by stats Chris Phillips is a scoring prodigy this week
Michalek
12 games no goals + 5 goals in 7 = 5 goals in 19 games
you just pick to show one side of the coin
"go home to mom for a nap"
Im dealing with complete idiots, pea brains
and the sad part is , you are so delusional you think you are right
When you say 5 goals in 7 and act like you are the shit,
Just realize it's really 5 goals in 19 and Im the shit
Score all you want when teams and players are adjusting in 2011, but 2012 is for the big boys and 5 in 19 isnt big boy material
Listen Asshat, saying stats are useless and then providing your own makes you retarded.
The only stat that matters is 28 goals so far
Your mom is still calling, off to bed son.
You will lose many good contributers if this keeps going.
Go SENS Go
this site is overrun by fake ass nerd fans who thumbs down and BS their way around.
Good mother fuckin riddance senschumps.com
You have been proven wrong time and time again so go fuck yourself you delusional pea brains
I'll just read the blogs from now on, and find a community with a realistic view of the roster
Cant we all just get along?
I mean who wants debate on a forum?
WOW - somebody needs a hug.
Take your ball and go home tampax.
You are a fucking idiot.
Michalek is top 10 in the league in goals - right there with Toews, Gaborik, Daniel Sedin... oh and ya Spezza too. As paradors mentioned, 11pts (and 5 goals) in last 7gp. It's obvious Spezza is the most talented forward on our team, but Michalek is a damn good hockey player and important part of this team. He slowed off in January coming back off his concussion - concussions aren't an easy thing to come back with confidence from, interested correlation there.. Too bad you're a moron. A long season - the best of players go stretches without goals and points - how about Jon Toews? 2 in his last 11, but 29 on the season... he's worthless too I imagine based on your absolutely ridiculous idea that a good player is good ALL the time.
I'll bet you're wearing a shirt that says, "if I can't win, I don't wanna play!"
Hahahahahahaha, see you ass clown!
The youth movement continue folks.
attention whore, insert tampax here
then take your ball and go home
to mommy
for a hug
you all should do stand up comedy, I mean Im in stiches here
"go to your mom and take a nap"
"if I can't win, I don't wanna play!"
"someone needs a hug"
I mean this is your moment to shine, and you guys made the best of it
you are dime a dozen people
I could have gone to a million forums and found the same clone of an idiot to tell me "someone needs a hug"
Just a bunch of useless dime a dozen fools
Its proportional to your brain
Michalek another minus
Why isnt our top line in the other zone?!?!?!?
I agree, I don't think I've ever seen Winnie do a toe drag as he's charging to the net. O'Brien brings the same intangibles but doesn't look lost with the puck like Winnie.
In a million different forums, you would still be considered an idiot.
There goes Michaleks +1 overall for the season,
He WAS a plus player LOL
Completely agree. And to think there's still Zibanejad and Da Costa working their way here too.
Are you still here?
This rolling 4 lines and spreading out the skill is really working well!
Or did he just show up for that split second garbage goal on the powerplay
which could have been any player by the way
suck it phaneuf!!
Out with the old, in with the new man.
Looks like Carks is up next with the emergence on Brian Lee. I say let the kids fight for their spot.
Played fantastic and deserves another start.
I feel so happy for him.
Nice comment! Always been a Lehner fan.
HMMMMMMMMM !
Great rebound game from our boys even though they looked gassed in the first.
Glenn Healy in the groin.
What to do with Auld is the question now.
@ian_mendes: Lehner: "It's competition, you know?....I'm not thinking about the future. I'm just enjoying the ride right now."
Michalek is a great player. Is consistently scoring over 20 goals throughout his career. He is also easily going to break 30 this year. That to me is not a plug. He scores much more than a goal per month. I'll take his skills and his cap on my 1st any day.
However I do agree Butler is not cut out to be a 1st line guy(at least not yet, but im guessing never) his skating is just not at that level.
As for saying everyone else on the team is bad, well that's just plain stupid. We are littered with very young, fast, talented role players.
The biggest thing you're missing is that some major talent will be joining the big club over the nest 2 to 3 years. Silverberg and Zibanejad are locks for being top 9 forwards. The year after that players like Stone, Petterson, DaCosta. And eventually you obviously have Neosen, Puempel, Prince, Pageau.
Some day we will have 4 lines that will be a threat to score on every shift
Bryan Murray has done nothing but acquire young talent. Now we have probably the best 3 goalies in the league. That's MASSIVE!!
With Turris, we now have a legit offensive threat centering the 2nd line (imagine Zibanejad on that line with Alfie). Z.Smith has been cold of late, but has more than proven he's able to be a solid work horse 3rd line centre. If you add Silverberg and Foligno on his wings you suddenly have what I believe to be a dangerous looking grind/scoring lin. Then if you consider how well J.OBrien has played(yes add another goal to his cv lol) he might have just won that spot for next year. Then players like Condra, Greening, Daugavins are more than capable of playing effective 4th minutes.
Spezza and Michalek are very effective together. However the proble is they constantly look for each other. The definitely need a better winger that can keep up while adding offense
Mad props for Lehner!! Wicked game for him
Turris's hit was very dirty and has NO place in hockey. What happened to alfredsson has nothing to do with that cheap ass dirty hit that Turris laid. should have been suspended!
It wasn't dirty at all !! Corvo had to know the hit was comin he wanted too move
the puck and turned right into Turris ...u might think its dirty but the league doesn't
I hope so too. And I hope he punches Brad Marchand in that big nose of his.
That's what I call competition!!!!
are u saying that the goal that Michalek scored tonight garbage as in .... a snipe would have been more effective?
im pretty sure he was signed to score goals and thats what he does ... i dont see the need for an argument ?
lol you sounds ridiculous
Between you and Mike Bauer, and a few other incompetent
posters on SensChirp, you are all lucky, that I do not own this great hockey site on our Ottawa Senators !
If it was my decision, you would all be banned from this site, but SensChirp s too soft on you shit disturbers !!
we're fuckin nerds? your the one trying to prove that a proffesional hockey player is doing crap lately when he's over 100x better than you and your trying to find your own statistics that try to, "back it up". Your the fuckin nerd here buddy, at least most of us play the game of hockey while you sit on your computer trying to blast a pro athlete.
