While on the surface it appears like the Sens may be in tough without Craig Anderson, the way the offence has been clicking of late they just might be able to surprise the power house Bruins. Add in the fact that Boston was in Buffalo last night and the Senators may have a chance to jump on the visitors early.
Tuukka Rask got the start for the Bruins last night so we can expect to see Tim Thomas tonight.
Led by Erik Karlsson and Jason Spezza, the Sens have been filling the net at an incredible rate lately. Ottawa has scored 21 goals over their last four games and will give the Bruins all they can handle. Against a physical Bruins team, MacLean will reinsert Matt Carkner for some added toughness. Brian Lee comes out.
Here is how the Sens are expected to look...
Michalek-Spezza-Butler
Greening-Turris-Alfie
Daugavins-Smith-Condra
Foligno-O'Brien-Neil
Kuba-Karlsson
Phillips-Gonchar
Cowen-Carkner
Puck drop is scheduled for just after 7:00 PM tonight with all the action available on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada. CBC has a stream available on their site for fans that can't tune in. And if you are in the building tonight, BE LOUD! With Anderson out, the Sens could use an added boost and they can get that from a raucous Saturday night crowd.
GO SENS GO!
- Murray has indicated that he'll wait till the weekend is over then decide whether or not he needs to add a goalie. From what I've been told, he has already begun to evaluate the available options but is in no rush to make a move. There has been some talk about Dwayne Roloson as on option but I don't get the sense that is the type of move Murray is looking to make.
- While I still do not expect Bryan Murray to be active over the next few days, that doesn't mean he will be sitting on his hands either. Murray will be actively scanning the market for a bargain.
- On Friday, March 2, we'll be holding another SensChirp Event at the Local Heroes on Clyde Avenue. For just $60 bucks you get a 300 level ticket to the game against the Chicago Blackhawks, $15 worth of food and transportation to and from the game. Not to mention a chance to mingle with some SensChirp readers. Call 613 224 3873 and mention the SensChirp event to book your spot. Space is limited!
I think Aukd is a solid vet who should be able to step in here for us and get a few wins. He has been struggling but he knows his role and should be able to keep us in the game tonight.
Auld has faced the Bruins three times on home ice in his career and has a 3-0-0 record with a .928 save pct and 2.33 GAA.
Even if both Langenbrunner and Arnott leave via free agency (which I think is doubtful because both players have been solid all year) they would still have far too many players getting top 6 salaries/roles.
They made those additions over last summer because there were many questions surrounding Macdonald's and Perron's long term health (concussions). Now that both are back and playing very well they have a line up absolutely littered with talent and skill.
I don't expect them to make drastic moves at the deadline but once the offseason comes and they have to re-sign 3 pretty high profile top 6 forwards while still carrying macdonald's 4.7 cap hit, Backes' 4.5 and Steen's 3.3, plus Berglund's and D'Aghostini's being RFA's the following year. As a budget team, they will have major decisions about their forwards.
I haven't even mentioned their defense. It has been well publicized that st lou wants a good defenceman. This is probably because Jackman is getting old and is a UFA this offseason, on top of that, they have to budget for probably their best all around player in Pietrieangelo who has to sign next year as well.
On top of all that they also have a big cap hit in goal (Halak's 3.7)
To me it's pretty obvious some of those "top 6 caliber players" will be moved at seasons end. Or the other option they have is to move some pieces now from an area of strength to help a weekeness just like we did with turris.
I know it's been a while now but I think I can speak for everyone when I say I love the extra 1000 "symbols" were allowed to write now
On the Rick Nash front. Rangers have offered Del Zotto or McDonaugh, 1st and prospect Tim Erixon. Leafs offered Schenn, 1st, Kadri, Grabovski
Man, these are overpayments for Nash. He's a good player but that's a TON to give up
I hope the Leafs land him. He'd be going from a team with no center to a team with... no center. They'd still suck. And it would likely take them out of the Parise sweepstakes this offseason
Is there any way he can get a modified blocker that could immobilize his pinky with his ring finger and allow him to play? He should still be able to hold his stick with two fingers and his thumb. Might be limited in his stick play but at least he would be available.
Goalie's? Any thoughts on this?
Is that SensChirp readers or "SENSCHIRP READERS" that we get to mingle with?
Personally, I think Toronto's offer for Nash is garbage. Kadri is a bust, and Schenn... well... I don't have a high opinion on him either.
I hope Nash activates hims NMC on these 2 teams. Just a personal opinion. I'd like Nash to stay in the West.
Carkner with all due respect makes the Ottawa defense and by extension the Ottawa offense slow and that is not the system Maclean plays. His system is speed, puck possession and back pressure as a 5 man unit, with a great allowance for defensemen to be involved in the play at all ends of the ice. Carkner does not allow that by being considerably slower than any sens forward or defenseman.
Done!
He's a UFA so maybe someone is interested.
The only other option to take out for him is Kuba (if the need is to get more physical) and he's A) playing well, B) also a UFA.
NYR have traded Wojtek Wolski to the Florida Panthers.
Domino effect, Nash to NYR by monday
"effect" but yeah. Seems like they're preparing for it at least.
With 14points plays 17min/game from ottawa.
Chirp do you think we might look on picking him up?
Would give us options to trade Carkner/Kuba or Gonchar.
Also i just want to say, Chirp I now come to this sight first with my morning coffee.. you're doing a great job!
Wow!!
That might seem as a usueless trade. But they just cleared 3.7mil in cap space.
Looks like Mr Nash will be on broadway
Nash Richards Gaborik. Scariest 1st line in the league??
As for goalies, I'm praying Murray sticks with Auld and Lehner. While it was a good move acquiring Turris, I maintain that Murray overpaid a bit and don't want to see any more top-end future talent be moved for the sake of what may well end up being a shallow playoff run.
Besides, Auld has taken his lumps. People carved him up for never being sharp and I'll be the first to admit he had some stinkers. Still, how can he ever have the chance to heat up if he's always got a spot on the bench?
And any bigs experience for Lehner is a bonus in his development. Let em' play, BM!
GO SENS!
So similar to last year it's almost two third lines with no "traditional" fourth line full of plugs (since we don't really have any plugs).
BAHAHAHAH showcase Carkner???? First of all, nobody wants him. 2nd, He's a very solid #7 guy to have in case of injury and cheap, I wouldnt move him.
Brian Lee made 2 and half pretty big mistakes Vs. Caps, that is why Carkner is in.
#1 its not Murray's decision who plays
#2 look at the players who've been traded league-wide, now look at Carkner
#3 There isnt a trade in the world that would be worth losing this game just so Ottawa can 'showcase' their #7 defensman
Anderson will eventually heal so Murray won't be going after a #1 goalie & is Rolonson or any of the other goalies out there a better option than Auld right now? This will also give Lehner some playing time which is what management seem to want to get a good look at him.
There is no need to go after another goalie, however, there is a need to draft a goalie or sign an unsigned goalie (European) for Bingo at some point soon.
The irony when so many think Carkner has no value to this team Maclean thinks he does against the tougher & bigger teams. He is not being showed cased, he is in there because he can handle the bigger 7 tougher players better than most of our other defencemen including Lee.
You realize Kuba is top 10 in the league in Shorthanded TOI. and Gonchar has 30 assists. I would not want Carkner filling in for either of them. I hope to god Murray does not trade Kuba or Gonchar if he's planning to fill their spot with Carkner.
I think Murray pretty much has the book on Carkner. I don't think he needs to put him in for 1 game to 'evaluate' him. Same goes for Maclean.
Heck, I even have the book on Carkner: On a good night, he's a physical presence with good defensive position and the ability to keep the puck in the offensive zone.
On a bad night he creates odd man opportunities against and takes too many penalties.
There, any GM reading this, no need to watch the big showcase
- Also don't agree with Carkner going in. You've won 4 in a row, why change anything and what does that say to Lee? He has been playing great and doing everything right. I think that's horse shot to be honest.
- I think Murray is crazy to give anything up for a goalie. Let Auld and Lehner have the ball here for a bit. Anderson will be back soon anyways.
- Dustin Brown would be the only player rumored available I'd consider giving any picks/prospects up for
- Is Clitsome really on waivers? I would definitely claim him for sure! Ottawa boy as well. You can never have too much depth
I'm confident Auld can get the job done. If he wins tonight, I would roll with him again tomorrow against NYI.
When the Sens made the cup finals they had similar numbers after 62 games but went 13-2-5 down the stretch. And then won their first three series 4-1.
Just shows how important it is to finish strong down the stretch!
Just out of curiosity - what ever happened to Pascal LeClaire ?
Anyone know ?
Carkner's main weaknesses are skating, stickhandling, and quick passing, the most important things you need to beat a heavy forechecking team. It doesn't really make sense.
Still trying to get himself 100 percent he signed a contract but didn't pass the physical
Suck it Phaneuf!
Carkner is in because, Thorton, Lucic, McQuaid and Ference are in. Why would you get rid of Carkner anyway? And Why go for Nash and his 7.5 mill a season contract? Let Toronto have him, that city will destroy him anyway...
Exactly.
Carks has a role on this team and provides the defensive depth we will likely need if we go further than one round of the playoffs.
A little baffled frankly that Pugilist Konopka isn't lacing them up today...
This is, without a doubt our biggest game of the year so far and for so many reasons. I would think the biggest reason is knowing we CAN beat the Bruins, should we wind up facing them in the post season at all.
Give yourselves some good tape to revisit in April boys, rip these dirty Bruins a new one!
GO SENS! GO!
I doubt he's resigned next year unless Murray only has 6 guys he feels are NHL ready and wants to keep Carkner for depth on a short deal or something.
And Konopka - I like him a lot but I wouldn't call him a "pugilist". He's got some grit, sure, but the way O'Brien has been playing you can't take him out really.
Eddie Shore says: "Andy could play the rematch in Boston, ya tape the two fingers of the right hand together, freeze 'em...tell him to catch as many as he can cross handed...after the game you restitch him and give him 2 asperine!" Seriously, that cut will not get healed until next September and Anderson and the trainers know this also.
Lalime says it's the vibration in the goal stick that creeps you out!
Really -- did not expect to see that stat?
I like the Rangers offer more.. better calibre players than what the Leafs are offering.... but is that a surprise.
If the Rangers get him.. they have a lot of big salaried players on their books... but I guess they just waive whoever they don't want.
Auld played a good game against Nashville... but Boston is the better team.
My wishes were granted in that the game went to a shootout last night.... don't know how late the team got in.. I hope they are tired.
The Sun is reporting Anderson got injured by an ice pick... The tendon damage won't heal for some time.. but the once the stitches are out... can he play? That is the issue.. Patrick Lalime is available... LOL... Patrick said in a radio interview yesterday.. if it was any finger to be injured the 'pinky' was the least to affect the play.. BUT he did say it would have been better to injure the pinky on the catching glove side than the stick side... due to the fact it may limit Anderson's ability to handle the puck with his stick.
I hope Auld gets the job done.... if he has a bad game Murray makes a deal.
Anderson could be out up to 4 wks for all we know... and Lehner can't handle most of the games...
Going to the Isles game tomorrow -- hoping for Lehner to play.
As for Bishop... it should not take much to get him as he is a UFA at season's end.. as I don't believe he will be playing in 15 NHL games this year...
What drunk hobo told you that? There is no way in hell they move him. Statsny on the other hand is possible.
The Sun is for novelty purposes only. If you want actual information come here or follow Ian Mendes on twitter (or both).
Check out Sens on Facebook for details. Only spaces for 360 people... got my ticket... can't wait...
This is the real Pierre LeBrun account.
Go Sens go,
Spendzza
For sure, if i ever read the Ottawa Sun I have to buy another newspaper to make sure they aren't wrong about the date.
http://www.truehockey.com/articles/Ottawa-Interested-in-Bishop
- Trade Lehner to a team like TB at the draft (especially if he threatens to head back to Sweden if not in NHL) if you feel Bishop can be your long term answer in goal
OR
- Trade Bishop during or at deadline next season for more assets to help rebuild or make a run in playoffs
In either case, it's a win-win for Ottawa if they get him now for a 3rd round pick
Love this guy. One of the best picks the Sens have ever drafted.
GO SENS GO
There is definately some good hockey trades to be found with the Blues if they can package Bishop with some of their excess RFA's that they will likely not be able to sign due to current contracts and future contracts that will be required as was brought up earlier.
Be nice to get one of those or some other tough top 6
Nope..I have margaritas!!
http://www.cbc.ca/video/#/Sports/Live_Streaming/1248955900/ID=2123185055
We have a chance.
And that is why, he will get it.
No.65 baby!!
Carkner is slow, very slow.
I agree. Can't even recall how many times I've shaken my head in awe. He's had at least, in the past few games, many SOLID chances to really bury it in the net.. but for whatever reason his aim is terrible. Spezza would never miss those shots.
If Condra actually goes home over the summer and practices his shot ala Stamkos the previous summer, he would be a considerable threat IMO.
Edit: missed opportunity.
And not too far away who needs a lil help himself is Greening.
that one on the other hand.....
Y U GOAL LIKE GERBER?
Auld = fired.
He can't even slide properly, slides too far each way.... waive his ass and get Roloson, Lehner. Then when Andy comes back, Roloson can be his back up.
Done.
Been asking myself that for 60 games this season.
We may see Lehner tonight..
Lehner in tomorrow for sure.
Regardless, the Sens have played a decent period. So many times this season we've seen the Sens down then come back up and some how, some way, come out on top!
GO SENS GO
How many games has Anderson won against the bruins this year ?
That being said....our offense is not helping tonight either....2 breakaways that we sh@t the bed on...
Csucker
Auld has been decent since third goal.
I cant even.
Toughness my arse. It was Neil who threw the biggest hit this game thus far. The only thing Carkner has done is slightly brush by Chara. Jesus christ.
Carkner is junk. So is Auld. I dont care if he saves 50. The 2nd can't go in. Mark my words, Ottawa will be lucky to win 20% of games hes in.
Pretty sure it makes him hungrier for his opportunity...
Man I hate playing the Bruins. When they decide to play they are as good as it gets.
Ummm yeah .... Im gonna need you to not call him nick or any of them on a first name basis unless you know them personally. Fans like that just annoy me.
Great pass Jason.
Nice goal Erik
Good save Craig.
No. They're not your buddies.
LETS DO THIS SHIT.
Mike you need to cool down there buddy.
Tons of deflections, no luck.
Jk
Go Sens go,
Spendzza
Nice chance to redeem with a win tomorrow against an Islanders team that the Sens should regain some confidence by playing.
Have to go with Lehner still.
On another positive note spezza and Karlsson with another 3 points
Alfie great as always.
Let's go sens !
Ok there pal. I'm sure you were cheering when they got back to back goals from Daniel and then pulled Alex.
Jason played great and so did Erik.
Tomorrow we will likely see Robin.
Ummmm yeah. You're an idiot.
Dude just shut the fuck up, no one likes u
I don't want to be liked by a bunch of homer chumps like yourself.
" GO SENS GO!!"
" GO ALEX GO!"
Ummmm yeah.... I'm pretty sure your name would be better as "THE GREENING MONSTER" - like the fence at Fenway, it would be a better play on words....just saying....
Go Sens go,
Spendzza
Yup
What is this, high school? LAST NAMES ONLY AMIRIGHT HOMIE?
If you were following along, it was me making fun of someone else for making a post calling them by there first name....
I agree with you.
More like happy that my team showed great fight at the end, whatever the fuck helps u sleep at night
so did auld
and turris
daugavins... more like daugavwide
First - its not your team. Its Eugene Melnyks team. Secondly, thats great that they 'fought ' with 4 min left, down by 3, but they sucked from the net out for 56 minutes of the game.
So go brush your teeth with your sens toothbrush, then get into your sens PJs , then tuck yourself into your sens bed, with your sens blanket
Sleep tight. Sweet 'Sens' Dreams.... or in your case, wet ones of Alfredsson.
Oh and, Ummmm yeah.... I'm pretty sure your name would be better as "THE GREENING MONSTER" - like the fence at Fenway, it would be a better play on words....just saying....
Dude, pull that stick out of your ass. You're bitching over nothing!
On another note, good comeback by the Sens, that was entertaining. The Sens can actually move up to sixth tomorrow with a win.
GO SENS GO ROBIN LEHNER GO
And with a loss to boot. I'm sure he would rather have a W.
Im still trying to figure out why Daugivins is still up in the NHL....he's a call up at best.
Carkner sucks. Auld Sucks too. Turris, just not playing well.
Mike Bauer = period.
Tampons aisle 3 bro.
Go Sens go,
Spendzza
First, I like the stick up my ass....its a hard stick of "the truth" and call it like I see it... and don't call players by there first name like Im talking to my buddies.
How do u know I'm not Eugene melnyk?
And there's nothing wrong with saying yur opinion about the sens, but the way u talk about the situation makes u sound like those pittsburg penguins bandwagoners in Ottawa
So go fuck yourself
Yeah, Robin is definitely a better option that Alex. Great game by Daniel, Jason , Erik though.
I'm sure Mikey B is probably having compulsions reading this :)
Go Sens Go!
Ummm yeah, its actually aisle 5.
Good one !
Douchebag
Well played. :)
I will be purchasing a Chris Neil jersey ASAP. Have always loved the guy but he goes to yet another level tonight.
Massive hit then prepares to take his lumps from the NHL's most dangerous man ... only to win the fight and do a Chara-esque "I could throw one more but that's not how I roll".
Luc-bitch should sign up for Neil's new night class: How To Be A Man 101
Because Eugene Melnyk isn't a loser and you are.
Oh, and Dillan....are you a guy or girl... because that name is sooo sexy for a girl...Im pretty sure I saw you dancing last night at Piggies....
"she's as sweet as honey and she wants your money....please welcome to the stage, the lovely Dillan"
Hey Connor:
(ahem) LEAFS SUCK!!
The reason why the Sens got back in it was singularly stated by Neil. Huge fight to take down their best player and sit him in the box, pumps the crowd up, and immediately the Sens started playing better. That's called being a catalyst and leader.
Disappointing loss, but good comeback and shows that the Sens can compete with anybody.
The other guys who showed up after the Neil hit were awesome though - let's keep them!
Hey Jason,
You know what, I agree with you man. Seriously. Get rid of that bum Carkner, the guy can't spark this team, little own fight these days. He really offers nothing. Neil brings it.
I feel sick, u called me a loser.
Oh fuckin Jube jubes, I am sad
Nice to see you come around and focus on what really matters: the game.
Huge one tomorrow afternoon. Go Sens
I disagree. I'd love to play them. They'd be the most challenging team to play first round (unless Pitt gets hot) but if we can play them like we did the last 20 minutes tonight I'd be thrilled. Would be one hell of a series.
Ummm yeah...Im pretty sure a pee wee goalie stops the second goal, so I do blame him because thats when the team truly lost all confidence and was forced to play come back hockey only to fall short.
So again, I do blame him. You can save 50, 60 or even 70....as a pro, that goal can't go in. It just can't. He changed the momentum of the game with that brilliant display.
He's junk - plain and simple. Sure he made some saves, but thats inexcusable for a pro. 20% they will win with him in nets....
Sure he does, he can throw the opposition players into our goalie better than anyone else on the team....
You should feel sick, because you have Loser Denial. But you can get help...theres help for everything these days....
I can go with you for support if you want. We can get you the help you need.
Go Sens go,
Spendzza
Not going to get into a long debate with you but I have yet to see that reply (except in house). Looked soft unless it was tipped but yes, even then, Andy stops it.
But you should acknowledge that the team showed zero confidence from the drop of the puck. That's not Auld's fault - that's the team's.
Moot point though as Lehner will win tomorrow and hopefully Tuesday.
Ummmm yeah....Im pretty sure you don't need to sign your username at the end every time.
Sincerely,
Mike 'Your Idol' Bauer
I wouldn't be surprised if ur mom dumped u in the garbage at birth, but then again ur too fuckin dumb to know shit
Chirp - can we start up a collection to pay for an "ignore" button?
Dude how old are you
Good call man. I honestly believe hes a leaf fan at heart
Only pretty sure? Let me know when you're sure. I care about your opinion.
Go Sens go,
Spendzza
OWNED.
EDIT: Also, I didn't think Auld was that bad, but bad enough to actually cost us the game (vs Anderson). Hope Lehner is in #beastmode tomorrow, we need to get back to our winning ways.
Oooooohhhh, Wife jokes....good one "bro".
Im not your bro, or as it would be said properly, "brother". You would be lucky if you were related to me....you definitely wouldn't be called Dillan thats for sure, no male family member of mine would ever be called Dillan. Maybe 'Dylan', because thats more masculine , but not Dillan....
Do me a favour though, write this down too. Go out and get a life, Im sure your the person who is 36 years old, living at home in your mommy's basement, while she feeds you macaroni and cheese mixed with cut up hot dogs so you don't choke.... you likely refer to her as your 'roommate' so on the off chance you meet someone and bring them back to you house (i mean your mommy's house) they don't make fun of your relentlessly like I am doing right now....
Also, you really should get a new name, because it does sound quite feminine. just saying....
Come on man. You don't know shit about people's lives so don't go around bringing people's personal life into a hockey forum. Oh, and keep it clean...theres some kids that go on here.
Ok, Im sure. You're right, I should've been more clear. I appreciate you caring about my opinion, because my opinion is the best one on here.
So true. I don't think I have ever crossed the line that far like Dillan 'the shemale' did. All my posts were sophisticated, well thought out and insightful. The kids likely look up to me and I recognize that.
I have class.
Chirp say something to this guy, I'm actually gonna get crazy personal soon
Deep down, 'Chirp' likely agrees with me and everything I am saying, but he cannot admit that because it'd be bad for business. And you'd need to know me personally in order to get personal.
Just saying....
FREEBIRD !
Clarity is always best. So let me be clear. Since you seem to know where the tampons are, maybe you should pick up a pack. You seem to be having a heavy night. Sister.
Go Sens go,
Spendzza
Why don't you go for it, be a man - step up to the plate.
Also, my name is Mike Bauer, not Mike Homo Faggot. Get it right please, and keep it clean, no homosexual slurs are needed. They're are kids on here too.
Im in a great mood actually. Just correcting some fellow Senator fans on a few things.
You guys will thank me later. You're funny though. But seriously, stop signing your name, everybody knows who its from when you make a post. The orange text at the top of the post says your name, so we know who is writing in.
Wasn't sure if you noticed that, but I too just wanted to make it clear.
That said, I think Auld shouldn't be playing, I was at the game and honestly, he made some okay saves but I think 2 of the goals were saveable, esp #2. Lehner should play the bulk til Anderson comes back or the get someone at the deadline.
Here's hoping tomorrow is better.
Boston announcers are stupid.
lol
Thanks. I really was just being honest and don't feel I crossed the line of intellectual jousting and constructive criticism of certain people vs. immature trash talk (everyone else's responses to me).
In closing, School was definitely in session and now its adjourned. Hax, TheGreeningMons ter (yes, I changed it from the way you write it cuz mine sounds better and you know it), Spendzza, Dillan....I will let you go back to posting without haggling you because I really can't be your entertainment and comic relief all the time, but just try not to sound like complete homers and Super-Sens-nerd s all the time, its no wonder our team just bullied out of our own arena so easily, your the perfect example.
I will be watching and waiting for my next time to 'chime in' - I am sure many of you put in a complaint to have me banned, even though I just had some 'fun' courtesy of you guys and really just spoke the absolute truth without calling anyone bad names or using swear words, so if I do get banned, I will be re-incarnated to someone else, and you'll know. If I don't - see you around real soon.
Thanks everyone, you've been great! (as the crowd gives me a standing-O)
Sincerely,
Mike 'Your Idol' Bauer (yes, Spendzza, that was for you!)
lol where did this C.H.U.D. come from? and why is he here? sewer folk kick him out?
Sorry but disagree - I thought the Sens came out hard and fast with very good cycling that the Bruins couldn't match until they scored at the 4 min mark. First goal was not Aulds fault - Karlsson was weak on Bergeron, the 2 and 3 were - in the end Auld was their undoing - plain and simple - he SUCKS! We need insurance - I would take a serious run at Harding - don't know anything about this Bishop kid but I would take him and start him blind over Auld - no question. Please Murray make the move Auld has just demonstrated he is not the solution - I don't even know why he started in the first place.
Blog victory for you, MB. Well done.
Go Sens go,
Spendzza
Leafs Suck.
There, now we can all move on.
If you grammar and sentence structure were proofread a little (even just a little tiny bit) you would come off as infinitely wiser. I just logged on and somehow managed to read every comment... At first I thought you were just an ignorant jackass, but as I read further, I found many comments quite humorous, and thoroughly enjoyed some of your statements, albeit I'm not sure if the ones that I enjoyed were meant to be funny. However, grammatically you are an idiot, and it really deflates anything you are trying to say and gives much confidence to the people you are trolling. Not sure if you are aware, but most of us are Sens fans here, and honestly, who the fuck cares if somebody who may not actually know the players in person wants to call them by their first name, or refer to the organization as if it is also theirs. I think that is awesome, and it is a real testament to the care level of some of the fans of this hockey team. So seriously man, if you're gonna be an asshole, at least become a little more wise about everything, and try and add some satire in there as well. In fact, ask Tookie for some tips. He is pretty good at what he does.
Anyway, it was a rough first period. Sens score early, only to have momentum deflated shortly after, and can't get anything going on a PP and a couple of real solid rushes. Then Auld lets a fairly weak goal in, and that was the turn of the game right there. If it is 1-1 in intermission, it's a whole different game. I personally really like Auld, and think he is gonna help us get through til Andy's return, but he has to save those. Especially when he is not making any highlight reel saves either. But in any case, we lost to in my opinion the best team in the league, albeit they may not be right now, and showed we deserve to play with them.
The future looks great, and I'm excited to see what happens down the stretch, whether we make the playoffs or not!
GO SENS GO
SHUDDER !
Dear Bretzky,
I wasn't going to come back on, my job here is done, I made my points - you laughed, you admitted you did. But I really didn't realize I was going to be quizzed on my grammar. But maybe you should look at your first sentence...the correct way to say it would be 'If YOUR grammar..... So next time you try and come back at me with grammar burns, proofread your own comments first.
Considering I wrote my material quickly and everything just came up off the top of my head, I thought my grammar was decent to say the least.
Either way, I don't care. Im clearly a cut above everyone when it comes to jousting, including you. Get something better than grammar bashing though. Seriously, that's weak...and lame.
I don't look for people to go one on one with. It just happens. I will read what Tookie19 (whoever he is) has to say and if I feel its weak or better yet lame, maybe I will say something.
Now its where I occasionally go to read some game day banter between fans like me.
However, if the Sens lose,,,,
This turns into the biggest bitchfest filled with negative nancys and losers looking for useless fights.
Some of the crap on here really discredits chirp and he should probably consider getting rid of the more prominent dbags that chime in with their infinite wisdom.
Peace to all the real fans,

These two guys in specific, (not to take anything away from alfie and michalek) have really been carrying this team offensively. Here's to hoping they both have another 3 pt game tonight each like the last two. Hopefully Lehner has a solid game to (if he starts)
Zack Smith step it up!
Really looking forward to seeing what Robin Lehner can do!
Karlsson, Michalek, Alfie and Spezza have all been studs, but I would really like to see the secondary guys step up today. Foligno, Greening need to get more involved. And wtf did Zach Smithy go? This guys gotta get it goin!
Ya Auld's shit I really don't want to see his ass between the pipes for the remainder of the season tbh he was a failed decision. What a waste of skin.
Whats with that??
Yes, I agree. It gets bad on here after a loss. PHi/Pit won last nite so we need tonite's game bad. Let's not put all the blame on Auld though because the entire team played bad. Of course we had a couple of players who stood out but we need all of them to step up. We are not a top team yet and we win by playing our top game each and every nite. We all have bad games from time to time and last nite was ours. We can start over again tonight against the Isles.
It must admit though that you haven't seen anything yet. You should check out the comments on Sportsnet about the Leafs loss last night. Grab a coffee or like me a Caesar and have a chuckle or two from the love the fans are giving Burke, Wilson, the goalies and on and on and on.
Relax a bit folks...we will get them tonight!!!
Sure hope so! Want him as the back-up next year!!!
Case and point -- if the Gaustad hit on Winchester.. did not even get a penalty or a suspension or a fine... and Turris does get suspended -- I will be one pissed off Sens fan..
Considering Auld has only played 7 games this season.. was his game that bad last night.. even though he did let in 1 bad goal. A lot of turnovers by the Sens did not help matters.
Going to the game today.. Hoping & praying for a win. Florida/Was/Win n starting to close in on the Sens... Lehner & Lee had better be in the lineup... and Karlsson setting the points record. If Nabocov is in net... it will be a lot tougher game than last time...
Oh -- for just one time -- I would really be interested to see how the Sens would do against Boston if it was Rask in net!
Shanahan had better show some fairness to us sooner or later but I doubt it.
Great move by Murray. Subtle, yet effective. Now we don't have to worry about seeing Alex Auld get the nod for any of the remaining games, especially the playoffs.

He'll have his chance today. The plan with Lehner was to include another year in bingo anyway so a one year deal with Bishop will work with that plan.
It also states that the Sens are working on a contract extension of 1 yr with him prior to finalizing the deal.
At least give Lehner a chance?
Agreed.
Its kind of an unfair scenario to ask a goalie with less than 10 games this year to go and pull out a miraculous victory against the defending Stanley Cup team, and a team that has had our number for YEARS regardless of if we have our number 1 in nets.
That game was as close as it was going to get and the team played well.
And we haven't even seen what Lehner can do yet...
That being said, if Murray was going to pull the trigger on a goalie, I think Ben Bishop is the guy. Huge prospect (literally and metaphorically...)
I guess this means Alex Auld got a real shitty deal by signing back in Ottawa. Wow. Spectacularly shitty deal.
Good trade. He's a good goalie, worthy to play in the NHL, will do well with Andy out and back him up when he returns, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, puts the end to Alex Auld.
Yeah he's considered the best goalie in the AHL. He's also HUGE at 6'7 over 200 pounds.
The only reason he wasn't playing for the Blues is because of Halak and the emergence of Brian Elliot. Other than that he's an NHL backup goalie.
This is a good trade. Exactly what we need for the playoff push.
I'm sure Burke is pissed that he didn't get this guy looking at his goalie tandem :)
A nice run he won AHL championship and was MVP check the stats lol
Sick! Everyone's crying that this is unfair to Lehner, but goaltenders take a long time to develop. He's not having a very good season in Bingo this year. Lehner needs to continue playing every night in the AHL instead of being an NHL backup.
If anything, this is just a good move to bolster our organizational depth in goal. Every team needs a good group of quality goaltenders and behind Andy and Lehner, we had nothing.
Adding Bishop gives us a pretty good 1,2,3 punch now with Andy, Bishop, Lehner and we don't have to worry about Auld anymore.
$1,000,000 to play in 14 games. He had 2 wins in those so I don't think he can put the blame on anyone but himself. A 3.35 GAA and an .884 SP won't cut it period.
Ya bingo won last year, but half that team in now in the nhl...and playing on a GOOD nhl team.
Great move
So what? He was hot for a few months and he deserves to be in the NHL now? If you want to talk stats, check his stats this year!
With this logic, Corey Locke should be playing on the Sens' top line too
And then? Bishop will head down? Or will Auld be waived?
My guess is anything can happen. If Lehner plays well today, Auld could be waived/sent down. If Lehner stinks, he heads back to Bingo. Hell, Bishop could be heading straight to Bingo as we speak. He's on a 2-way contract this year so they have a ton of options
Bishop going to Bingo would seem odd. Or else, what was the urgency to sign him, and sign the best available back up? Clearly, he's headed to Ottawa. I think the question is how soon will Auld be waived...
I agree that would be the best move as long as Auld clears waivers (and he will) so he can report to Bingo
I'm not going to single anyone out because it was pretty amusing to read just now, but there's 10 minutes of my life I won't get back. Sad face.
