Thanks to a hard-working goal by Erik Condra and a fantastic individual effort by Nick Foligno, the Sens held a 2-1 lead heading into the third period. But it would not last.
A power play goal by Backstrom tied it and not long after that, off setting roughing calls to Brooks Laich and Nick Folingo gave the Caps some extra ice to work with and they took advantage. Ovechkin scored the go-ahead and just 15 seconds after that Brouwer gave the visitors a two goal cushion.
It was a cushion they'd need as Michalek scored his 17th to give the Sens hope and again proved why you CAN NOT leave a Sens game early. Alfredsson had a glorious chance to tie the game late but could not convert.
I know it was already discussed at length in the comment section but a quick rant about the non-call on Ovechkin.
As MacLean pointed out in his post-game scrum, Chris Neil is not the type of guy to embellish. After watching Neil land a solid hit on Ovechkin, you had to know Ovi was going to retaliate and I watched as the ref followed the two up the ice. To call a dive on that play is a complete joke. You have to be pretty damn sure that there was no spear and because it was the trailing ref that made the call, how in the world could he determine, definitively, that there was no spear? Awful, awful call. Although as Senators fans, we should be used to this garbage by now.
OK, I feel better now.
Sens are right back at it today when they travel to visit the New Jersey Devils. Earlier in the week MacLean suggested that Alex Auld would get the start. No morning skate but we should have any word on line up changes later this afternoon.

The Hunt4Chirp is ON!
Be sure to follow @SensChirp and @Wisers_Ottawa for clues throughout the day. The beginning at 6:00 PM, you have to hunt us down somewhere in the city of Ottawa and when you think you've found us ask, "Are you SensChirp and the Wisers Guy?" First two people to ask us that question will score a pair of tickets in the 100 Level Wisers Box for Jets/Sens in January. Must be legal drinking age to win.
Good Luck!
Good to see michalek and foligno show good chemistry. Let's now see Greening back on the 3rd line. Shove Filatov and Butler with Spezza
Ya you would have to assume Filatov is back in tonight. Although I have said that before.
I hope to everything holy you guys aren't in the new Ikea, that would just be cruel to us all!
Have a great day, happy hunting all.
What is the Silfverberg injury?
There saying shoulder injury out 6 weeks
Shoulder injury.
LMAO, that play didnt cause us to lose the game, hahaha, nice try tho, blaming it on the refs. Do you not recall the 5 on 3 at the end of the 2nd and the back to back calls at the end of the 3rd. Hello.
Hope so, he's played good since getting a skate to the face. At least better than bobby butler's play.. I still think he has tons of potential and I see him blowing out in a goalfest within a week if he can actually get comfortable. Hope he gets a decent shot (more than 2 games without being benched)
Thanks Gauts & Chirp.
Shoulder, thats no good, not good at all.
Read on twitter that it was his second shoulder injury too.
but not the same injury, this sounds more torn muscle and not dislocated
I wouldn't blame it all on that call but it didn't help. We should've scored on the 5-3 or at least on one of the other penalties in the game.
Lame.
It really does make you wonder what MacLean is seeing that we aren't. Is the guy seriously under conditioned? Does his attitude stink? Does he just float around at practice and not take instruction. What is he doing that the coaches don't like?
It's not like he's being kept out by superstars playing at the top of their game.
I guess Spezza and the rest of us just have to be patient until those spots can be filled one way or another. Some shifts he must feel like he's out on the ice all on his own.
Puempel 8 games suspension!
http://www.thepeterboroughexaminer.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=3393090
Chirp please tell me that this is not confirmed!
WE DO NOT HAVE A FIRST LINE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!
Spezza cannot play alone, he tries too hard when he is not with at least one other top level talent.
We are wasting one of the premier players in the NHL by playing him with unproven players.
It is confirmed. Although like the last couple games, I'm sure MacLean will not hesitate to throw together 9-19-11 at times.
Great point, no first line threat is really hurting us.
it is not like we have to take out a legit top 6 forward, we are taking out a struggling young unproven player.
PUT IN FILATOV!!!
or shit even bring up someone else b/c that first line really stinks right now
You'll have to keep an eye on the clues on Twitter. Use the hashtag #Hunt4Chirp to see what has been said so far.
Granted its a powerplay, but this is the type of play I keep referrign to in terms of skill needed to play with spezza. Greening would never do that, butler wouldn't do that
Spezza needs a player that not only finds holes but creates holes himself the way michalek did on that one play.
With greening and butler you know what your getting. Greening doing dirty work in corners and in front of net and butler who will just float in and out of holes, ALL WATCHING SPEZZA hoping to get a pass.
Michalek used spezza for his own play, but thats where Spezza is best
yes I know but then that leaves us with no second line
WE ARE IN A REBUILD MIGUEL...
lol watch this
Michalek-Spezza-Alfredsson
Greening-Foligno-Butler (weakess second line in the NHL)
Condra-Smith-Daugavins (checking line thats win's us games)
Neil-Winchester-Konopka (checking line)
For the love of all that is good can someone please ask our future star D-man to HIT THE FREAKIN NET. My god Karlsson simply cannot put an easy shot through. A weeker shot that gets to the net is 100% better than one that rips off the glass and comes out on the PP.
And then we have Gonchar who must lead the league in shooting at feet and shim pads for blocked shots..
Sorry but in 2 years I still don't see what he brings
he makes me miss Kuba
These guys especially on the powerplay have to improve their shooting.
And I know it has been mentioned at nausium but, right now we really only have 3 lines, the top two really only make up one decent line.
Why is it that when they brought up Butler, that Spezza also loses Michalek? Keep MM9 with Spezza and add Butler/Filatov Then keep Foligno with Alfie, and give each line someone they can play with.
Yes agreed, but why not give Spezza either Alfie or Michalek,
and put the other with Foligno?
how does this hurt the rebuild?
You don't put Alfie there
Greening-Spezza-Michalek
Regin-Foligno-Alfie
Daug-Smith-Condra
Winnie-Kenopka-Neil
Extra: Butler and Filatov
Butler and Filatov can play if regin doesn't have the same jump, or they can fill in for winni or kenopka also
Well for 1 Alfie is not top line material anymore, and cuz the young guys need a vet on their line, cant just stick em together and let them get killed, our kids are not Eberle, RNH, Hall...
or his work ethic is crap, has to be something if he is not even being considered.
may have been a waste of a pick as some have said.
I agree with this, keep these lines all year, win or lose.
Parise
Semin
Penner
Hemsky
Boyes
Tuomo Ruutu
A Kostitsyn
Grabovski
Stempniak
That's really a weak group of free agents. I hope we try our best to bring in Parise but I can't see that happening. Grabovski would be an awesome addition too but the Leafs will likely resign him.
The senators only have 2 players worthy of playing extended minutes on the 1st line - Spezza and Michalek, whoever Spezza plays with that isn't called Milan or Daniel is going to be unproven.
Greening has shown the work ethic to sit there, battle and drive to the net. I agree he isn't playing brilliantly at the moment but the only player you could replace him with, other than Michalek, is Foligno who is currently playing 2C.
When Regin is back we will have more options (by that I mean somebody else in the mix who is basically unproven).
I think they will give Butler a couple more games and then bring Filatov in for a run. If not I do begin to question the worth of paying him NHL money to sit on the bench.
If we don't want to play him, why pay him. What do we care if he goes to the KNL if we don't care to play him.
He must have slept with someones wife in the organization! Isn't that the reason for all player-coach disagreements? lol
You know it could really just be a pressure test for Filatov. Murray calling his bluff
Filatov said he wanted to bolt. Murray just saying sit in the pressbox make wayyyy more money here than AHl but don't play. Lets see how committed you are before we give you time on the ice
I think you may be right. They certainly don't want to let him go to KHL but also won't hand him the ice time because he threatened to leave. Let him cash NHL pay cheques and see how committed he is in practice.
Or, there is an injury issue.
You have to think Melnyk can't be real happy with sitting a guy and paying him his NHL salary instead of paying him a minor league salary while having him play om Binghamton...
As expected, Filatov is a healthy scratch yet again.
Wow eh, ruthless Stache, just ruthless. I like it.
True, but Murray and Melnyk still both know the risk/reward on Filatov. Pay him his money now for no production and to call his bluff, but if it pays off and he comes to play we may have ourselves a top 6 forward. send him to Bingo and your not getting it
Actually Tookie it did. Spearing is an automatic 5 min penalty and game misconduct, which would have eliminated Ovechkin from the game. Caps lose the jump Ovechkin had and the Sens are in a much better position. Not to mention getting the PP instead of an undeserved PK. I rarely blame games on the refs since it normally washes out, but missing such a big one in this case completely changed the momentum and flow of the game from there on.
Greening / Spezza / Butler
Michalek / Foligno / Alfredson
Now you tell me which line looks like a #1 unit (well neither but which one is closest) and which has been getting results the last couple of games?
Without making a single trade BM was able to fix our 2C hole by giving Spezza absolute crap for offensive wingers.
Butler is grinding a lot better the last couple games then he has in the past or did last year. Though the goals haven't been there, his game is improving from an overall perspective. Filatov's game is just not NHL ready and he isn't meshing well with the system.
There can only be one mayor on this site!!
I am glad you agree Spezza is the man for the job! Besides Alfie is God (Praise Alfie) so he can't be Mayor too.
haha fair enough
Sorry, gotta side with Tookie here. The refs may have been bad, but the Sens were worse.
For those of us who have followed you from afar and have not met either yourself or the gentleman from Wisers... How will we know we found you?
Will you be wearing Sens Jerseys?
Gotta love the opening commerical, those swedes are too funny. The hit didn't look that vicious, but it's one of those plays you would like to see taken out of the game for sure.
Yeah it's the same reason he didn't make Team Canada. They wanted to make it an even ground for when they face the world. Having Puempel anywhere on the ice would cause too many goal opportunities so there was no alternative.
62.1 Spearing - Spearing shall mean stabbing an opponent with the point of the stick blade, whether contact is made or not.
62.2 Double-minor Penalty - A double-minor penalty will be imposed on a player who spears an opponent and does not make contact.
62.3 Major Penalty - A major penalty shall be imposed on a player who spears an opponent (see 62.5).
62.4 Match Penalty - A match penalty shall be imposed on a player who injures an opponent as a result of a spear.
62.5 Game Misconduct Penalty - Whenever a major penalty is assessed for spearing, a game misconduct penalty must also be imposed.
62.6 Fines and Suspensions - There are no specified fines or suspensions for spearing, however, supplementary discipline can be applied by the Commissioner at his discretion (refer to Rule 28).
Well there ya go, thx for clarifying the subject of a spear. Ovie did not stab Neil, was more of a back swing with the whole blade hitting Neil.
Case closed, thx.
Case closed, thx
I'm dead serious, if there's something going on we don't know, tell us, or put him in the lineup.. it's that simple. We are fans and this is what we (I believe) want to see.
It is so frustrating to see him wasted. Maybe we can all send him a sympathy card on behalf of Sens fans.
Wrong Took,
he got pounded right in front of us on a clean hit from Neil, he was clearly pissed and was prime for the dreaded retaliation penalty. Anyone who has ever played the game knows there is little padding in the midsection, and he pointed his blade directly to Niel's midsection area.
In the slow motion replay it was even more obvious, but had it been reversed, where Neil was hit by Ovie, and right after Ovie goes down, Neil would have been out of the game.
I guarentee it, and that proves how shit our reffing is!
Go ahead, start a petition, and post it on whogivesashit.c om.
because what more is butler doing then filatov
My thoughts exactly. I would trust PM over anyone. If he doesn't think he should play, then he shouldn't.
End of story.
As for the "free Filatov" posters? I'm assuming you're the same people who began the "Fail for Nail" campaigns as well.
Which makes total sense, because you know nothing.
Go Sens!
I admit to being surprised that he hasn't played more games since his call up.
More than happy to trust MacLean. I'm starting to develop a bit of a mancrush.
Did you even see the highlights? It was a spear - that was OBVIOUS. Plus all the commentators, media, fans, etc., call it a spear. Except you. Go figure.
Then again, I guess you don't fit in the list of "commentators, media, or fans"...
Fail For Nail
LMAO we need more these are too great. There have been more and you guys know who you are so keep 'em coming!
Sens Underground put forth Slackin Off for Yakupov
How about: Unleash Auld!
Or, Release the Klinkhamer!
Trade Spezza
Pumping From Puempel
Dave Schreiber was on the Team 1200 this morning. He was sitting in the pressbox last night next to Bill McCreary. McCreary made note of the bad call.. went to the refs room during intermission to point it out. Apparently the refs went to Neil afterwards and apologized. Way too litte, too late.
http://www.cbc.ca/news/yourcommunity/2011/12/should-alexander-ovechkins-spear-prompt-the-nhl-to-take-action.html
If this were Montreal we would start a petition
encouragingdemanding the police to press charges.I sort of disagree with your last comment. I think it's a huge improvement on what generally goes on which is to sweep it under the carpet, circle the wagons and pretend it never happened.
No sport has perfect officiating, even those that have far more video replay and more comprehensive review procedures than the NHL. Hockey is a fast game and calls get missed. I think it's huge for the referee of any sport to come out and say I made a mistake. If that happens respect for the official increases rather than decreases.
However the non-call was huge. How many of us watching figured that Ovechkin was going to do SOMETHING after that hit. At least one official should have been focused on the pair after the hit whilst they were skating away, if fans could work out something was going to happen they should been able to as well.
Really starting to think we should focus our attention on MacKinnon, guy gets snubbed for WJC, next day scores 5 goals!! LOL
49 pts in 29 games as a 16 year old....
I love Yakupov but man, we NEEd to get this kid...!!!!
I saw it in slow motion and full speed over and over.
Because a penalty was not called Ovie gets off scott free, they will spew that Ovie has not done it in the past so free pass.
I have to agree with others though, what else is new we should be used to crap calls and no calls.
It is more interesting Carkner is ready to come back in the mix, looking forward to see how he plays being out as long as he has, bingo stint aside.
LMAO I don't want to crumble to get a good pick dude. I just enjoy what the fans on SensChirp have created as far as nicknames for players or slogans in order to get what they want. The best was one guy stating that he didn't know Filatov was in jail when he read 'Free Filatov.' I get a kick out of reading these. Plus, I don't think we need to fold like a cheap accordion to land this MacKinnon fella. Don't know much about the kid, I'm gonna go look him up now.
Edmonton defenseman Andy Sutton has been suspended indefinitely by National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety for his hit on Alexei Ponikarovsky of the Carolina Hurricanes during Wednesday's game.
Sutton has been offered the option of an in-person hearing.
Well if Yakupov is the next Ovie, MacKinnon is the next Crosby. Hell he even comes from the same town (Cole Harbour) and even dominated at Shattuck St Mary's, where guess who played...Crosby .
we will be better in every aspect of the game - the younger players we have now will have one more year of experience, we will have lost at least one of the defensive liabilities we have this season and we should welcome 1 or possibly two of our forward prospects as full time NHL players.
if you want those picks you best hope the lottery gods are looking out for us
Sutton out puts pressure on the Edmontons need for D help.
and I did not take my eyes off off the two after the hit b/c you knew Ovie did not like the hit.
From behind them I knew exactly what Ovie was doing, but have to admit that it looked like Neil was ebellishing, so worst case is 2 and 2. But to give the only 2 to Neil really does stink of blatant unfairness, and now that I see it in slow motion, it was a horrible act by Ovie!
The refs in the NHL are bad, but the fact that they are not held accountable b/c it is a fast game, or they try to even it up, don't piss them off, they will put the whistle away, this speaks to the bush league mentality the NHL has to its reffing, and what fans have to put up with
I remember a quote from Jerry Glanville a NFL coach when a ref made a bad call ONCE
"Brutal call...This is the NFL, which stands for Not For Long if you keep making calls like that"
that says it all!
Wish the NHL took that attitude
Talk away! Trying to keep the focus on the contest today so I can ensure that people are actually looking for me.
Shoveling snow or hay to land Parise.
Oh yeah sorry, go and find Chirp you fool's!!
There that should help!

Well thats your opinion, I dont want him that bad, whatever floats your boat!
He is a UFA so you wouldnt have to blow the team up, lol.
#Sens prospect Silfverberg is 1st amongst NHL drafted prospect in goal, points, and points per game ratio.

Not sure I understand what your trying to say, you saying in all of the NHL's drafted players or the SENS drafted players?
In any case your wrong...
Seriously, I wanna know what happened to that greening-spezzz a-mm9 line that was working so well untile mclean split it up for some reason?
Hmm how about a 5 game losing streak for a reason, where they we're playing horrible, but I agree, put them back together and leave them there...
MacKinnon is eligible for the draft in 2013 -- same as Sean Monahan of the 67's... either one I would take in a heartbeat. Question is... does Murray trade more vets at the deadline.. making this team really less experienced and much younger next season -- will they then get a shot at either of those two?
If not Yakupov.... then certainly Filip Forsberg...
What a crock of SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!
He also goes on to say "My advice to Chris Neil - in an effort to avoid calls like this from happening in the future, is to fall naturally only as a result of the action and don't turn your head toward the referee in the process. If you take my advice you just might even have your name expunged from the refs' embellishment book."
Ridiculous!!!
Fraser also said.. he would have given Ovey a 5 min major and game misconduct. I guess he is trying to view it from the on-ice refs perspective.
first off, that's not my information, i just found it so dont go accusing me of being wrong. 2nd I am not wrong, im pretty sure the post meant that he is the best drafted SEL player right now and, 3rd before you try insulting someone, try spelling it right. its you're.
look at overall scoring. sens have 16 players with 2+ goals. jets - 13
flames - 13
panthers - 15
hawks - 15

How does this comment get a minus 4??
amrstrong headshot on mccamond is one i remembe
edit: meant steve downie
armstrong hit eaves but i dont rember if he was suspended

one of the weirdest line combos ive seen us try..
This idea that Neil is somehow guilty of diving because he looked in the direction of the referee is absurd.
1) If you are standing on the street minding your own business, and you know there is a cop standing on the other side of the street, then all of a sudden someone comes up and punches you in the stomach. Do you not look at the cop to see if he is going to do anything?
2) Neil didn't look at the ref purposely, watch the replay. He took the spear and his face instantly twists in agony, he falls to his knees, and then his head turns to the side. Which just happens to be the direction of the ref. As a matter of fact, from the replay, best I can tell, his eyes are closed.
P.S. Kerry Fraser's comments are idiotic. Since when is he known as a diver?
I use this place:
http://www.lshunter.tv/hockey-live-streaming-video.html
The 2nd link for the Sens game is good.
I don't agree that it should have come into play here though as the spear was pretty obvious. But Neil does always make sure the refs see him get hit when he does - and that's fine, that's what his job is (or one of his jobs). Given that the ref's choices were to call 5 and a game on Ovie, 2 on Neil or both, the ref should have opted for no call if he thought Neil was diving since he has no way to be certain. If the "spear" had missed and the ref clearly saw it miss then fine, otherwise you can't just call the dive.
GO SENS GO.
k why would u give me a thumbs down for asking for a link....
GO SENS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some Asshats give a thumbs down to every post, regardless of what it is.

YES HE IS
also...its now four games in a row that we've had to play against the stupid trap...booring hockey..
What horrible decisions they've made with the puck. Ugh.
I agree. Jerry Seinfeld has been extremely reliable. Second coming of Chris Phillips, I think.
da woist lead in hackey
agree! ive repeated this since the first few games of the season. rundblad NEEDS bingo time and i said ~10 games. maybe more.. and for butler ive also said this many times he has 0 hockey IQ.
What did Matt Cooke do to the Sens player... I thought NO player from another team was ever suspended for a dirty hit on a Sens player... they are fair game for anybody...
You're a tool.
18th goal to lead the league now... Funny TSN still has him at 16 as of this morning... I guess they forgot he scored one last night...Quoting NickG:
Do they miss Kuba on the PP that much?
next year we add zibanejad and silfverberg, i know both are naturally centers but i can see 1 if not both play winger for a big chunk of the season. regin comes back soon and he might be on the wing if folgino keeps this up. then add any prospect that can crack the line up possible
Woops. My bad. It was Downie on McAmmond that I was thinking of. http://youtu.be/322zqTkL0-c
Sounds awesome! Imagine
Silfverberg-Spezza-Michalek
Zibanejad-Foligno-Alfie
and that still assumes Stone or someone else won't be ready next fall.
I have the best luck.
I come back and we let in a SH goal. Yup.
I'm quite sure I am the sole reason the Sens, Jets, and Blue Bombers are annually how they are.

Just to update, Tookie how do you dismiss Michaleks 18
Guy could use some press to help his all-star vote total.
vote.nhl.com
Look at the stats before you troll he has 2 Assists this game so STFU
Lazy? No. He might be tired. It's probably tiring to be carrying this team for the last 2 seasons.
This is awesome. Really not used to seeing the Sens NOT get chinced.
Really looks likes he's lost a bit of confidence after that OT fall that cost us the game over the weekend...
Hahaha hardly a giveaway, it was on the NJ side of the red line, more than enough time for our D toget rdy for their counter attack, lol....giveaway , LOL...
What Karlsson just did WAS a giveaway, a drop pass to a NJ player.
Yeah he fell the very next game aswell and cost us a goal. He's afraid to make a mistake, thinking too much.
Nevermind.
Seems like Maclean has messed up a bit with Alfredon on the PP point with Karlson.
Thank you, Spezza ! Cement feet, cement head ! He's carrying our team to the bottom of the standings ! That must be tiring !
Another goal while I was typing this.
Wrap it up Sens. Just go through the motions and collect your paychecks you lazy asses.
like you said...
dang nammit...
lets see if we start playing now since we are behind...
And boy does Auld look inspired right about now.
AULD SUX
3-0
3-4
ITS B.S
Thanks alot for watching Nick..:p
We were doing just fine before ya showed up...
This team's level of inconsistency is going to its demise this year...
I watch every game out of spite. LOL
WWWWWWWWWWTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF.
Glad football's on.
I hope Paul MacLean whips the asses that need to be whipped tonight and tomorrow in practice.
oh also...Filatov! Filatov! Filatov!
It's not one game. It's a trend.
And WTF Winchester?!
My heart cant take this for the rest of the season.....
Hey jasonontheoldse nschirp beadler and Hamany and whoever else... You can all suck it right now
Actually it's a rebuild. I don't get upset when guys are pissed and illogical during a game though. Go ahead and scream at players and say they suck if that's your mental makeup. But tomorrow when the sun comes up remember it's a rebuild. We don't need to win now, we don't even need to play well now - we need to develop players throughout the entire season. Filatov won't dry up sitting out a few games, Spezza will get inspired when the team is ready to go win a bunch of games etc, etc.
Love that both Karlsson AND Michalek leading the league in goals/assist!!
HOLY FUCK. I TAKE IT ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL L BACK. WTF!!!
go sens go
But, but, he's lazy and he sucks. Right?
LMFAO LOLS
Don't forget that Elliott is leading the league in GAA and SV%
Kovalchuk, Parise will score for them.
Winner? No idea.
*update. I suck at making predictions.
Yeah he's playing with nobody but he sucks, haha Condra was on the top line tonight, LOL fuck sakes!
And why the FUCK did Rundblad take the last shot?!?!?!?!
why do you put out Rundblad? ah well...
Good Fight back boys, I knew u had it in ya
Tough loss, still a sens fan... GO SENS GO
He ain't ready yet.
SMH at Maclean. Letting a struggling rookie take a crucial shot in a game like this was the WORST decision you could make. Condra, Smith, Greening, Winchester I would have chosen over fucking Rundblad.
Fuck
ARGGGGGGG
AGREE 100% MACLEAN MADE RETARDED MOVE.......
Shootouts in practice for all we know he's one of our top guys ! Seen him score a few beauty's in the DEL so ... Anyways good fight from the boys butler sucks I want to see filatov get a REAL shot !!!!
Anderson or bust.
Shambolic stuff again tonight
Looks like Gonch might be out for a bit...
so Rundy stays and we get Carks back...
Poor filatov..he might eb back i the line up....we are going to lose cause of not enough vet D and Filatov is going to blamed for the loss and sat out the following game...:P
Please. Foligno would have been much better.
And you have never stated your own opinion?!
Anyways..Hope Gonch can play sat night...Carks has been out for a while and needs to be eased back in or else we will jump on him like Kuba last year. Rather have Carks replace rundblad or lee for a game than have him fill in for Gonch...
p.s. good on cowen to shove kovalchuk after his dirty hit on michalek. this guy is going to be an uber-stud for the sens one day very very soon.
also...maclean needs to start planning future shootouts such that if auld has started he puts anderson in for the shootout because man, auld just stood there for each goal. parise's goal was a joke, that five hole was just ATROCIOUS..it was more like a tunnel.
as for Rundblad, pretty sure Maclean and Rundblad himself are aware of some of the poor plays he's made recently, that's the genius in throwing him out, he either redeems himself or further validates that he may need some conditioning in Bingo. He can't say he hasn't been given any opportunities.
It was an odd choice but anyone else could have missed just the same.

To reply to HQ question, IMO the two shorthanded goals which originated by Spezza turnovers were what caused and started the comeback for the Devils and if it wasn't for our fearless captain Alfie we would've never tied the game up to get atleast a point. I dont know who should be captain when Alfie retires but I definitly dont think Spezza deserves it untill he learns to be more of a two way player which probably will never happen.
How does it feel to be the biggest hypocrite in the league and in professional sports? How can you look at yourself in the mirror?
For the long term safety of players and for the benefit of restoring some degree of integrity to the NHL, when will you resign from your post?
Yours truly,

EEEEEEEEEYORE !
Wasn't Gadhafi still in power when Auld last played a game ?
It's called RUST !
- Alex Auld gives up alot of rebounds and is no good in shootouts.
- Glad I picked up Foligno in my fantasy pool last week.
- Jesse Winchester must feel good tonight.
- Pretty sure Rundblad shouldn't have been shooting there, but oh well, what do I know?
- Shanahan is a joke. I miss Colin Campbell, and that's saying something.
- Next game, bring on Vancouver.
@JQS,
Nice way to end 271 posts, most of which were showing total
frustration , and nothing but a bunch of w2hiners !
Bring on Vancouver next !!
