On one yet to be determined day in the month of December, SensChirp and the Wiser’s Guy will be hiding somewhere in the city of Ottawa.
Using my Twitter account (@SensChirp) and his (@Wisers_Ottawa) we'll be posting clues to our whereabouts. All you have to do is find us! First two people to track us down will each win a pair of tickets to watch the Sens from the best seats in the house. If you haven't already heard about the Wiser's Box it's on the 100 level and the food/refreshments are well, how do I put this? FREE!
I’ll give you your first clue now. It’s winter in Ottawa so we are going to be indoors!
All you really need to participate is a Twitter account and I suppose some form of transportation. And of course, contest winners must be of legal drinking age. Be sure to follow @SensChirp and @Wisers_Ottawa for more details which could come at any point between now and the contest date.
Good luck!

- The Sens practiced yesterday and are scheduled to do the same today at 11:00 AM. The Senators depart for Pittsburgh later today. No changes in the forward combinations as both Peter Regin and Chris Neil remain sidelined with injuries. Will post any updates that come out of today’s practice.
- Plenty of talk about Kyle Turris and we know the Sens have interest. Spoke with a contact yesterday who suggested the asking price is still far too high for the Phoenix forward. The bar has apparently been set at a quality prospect and a first round pick. That will have to come down if Murray is going to get seriously involved.
Good luck with your latest Wiser's Contest.
Even though the Sens are showing some interest in Turris, I do not believe a deal will happen.
Going on a trip to both Nashville and Memphis with my wife, and my brother and his wife. Leaving today and returning Dec 2.
No home games are scheduled for the Predators while we are there for the week.
Hope to somehow catch the Pens - Sens game on Friday in Pittsburgh.
not sure what im doing this weekend. probly hang out with some friends. I most likely wont be going to any hockey games either.
I will be catching the sens game.
I will be home to catch the game Friday, but also packing between periods. I'm leaving for vacation early Sat morning (4am) and won't be catching any games through the week unless they have them aired in the sports bar. Fingers crossed!!
Chirp, love these contests, great to get the readers involved. I really hope that the day of, falls on a weekend, so everyone has a chance to look.
Turris - Leave the kid and his bad attitude in Phoenix, make him play with the guys he refused to listen too. That'll learn him.
What about Versteeg? IMO he's been very underrated since his days with the Hawks, but look who they had in the lineup then. He gets a shot in TO for 53 games only before shipping him off to the Flyers, who also let him slide. The Panthers finally give the kid the minutes he needs and look what he does. 3rd in the league in scoring, 12 Goals and a +13. I knew he was better than people thought, but I didn't see this coming.
I'll post my weekend plans a bit later today as I'm sure everyone is curious. LOL
That will be tough, Pitts is usually sold out and now with Crosby back...good luck...you can always get some from scalpers but you will pay much much more...
Elliot has done this before in Ottawa, he was a major part of Ottawa's longest winning streak of 11 games back in 2010. It was his play in Jan/Feb during that streak that saw him win the NHL's First Star for the week of January 18–24, and Second Star the week of January 25–31.
Sure he has loads of upside, but he's not worth giving up any of our top prospects, a good roster player, or a first or second round pick.
I'd only be willing to give up a combination of Butler, Da Costa, Lee, or a late round pick for the guy, and nothing more.
We hear a lot of people suggesting that Foligno would be involved in a deal for a Turris or Brassard, but I don't want to see us give him up.
Foligno is in the midst of a career year. He works his ass off every shift, loves the team and loves the city, and although he may be young himself, he's a good leader for the younger players on the roster.
I will be at a 1 year old bday on Saturday and my sisters bday on sunday...probab ly watch some football and eat some food.
I see no rush to give up on Da Costa, Butler or especially Lee. I'd rather see the team give guys like that ample chance to prove themselves. We're not winning anything for a couple of years - let's not jump from propsect to prospect all that time, let's build a solid team.
Lee's top 4 if you eliminate the guys that will be long gone in 2-3 years, so unless we can put other young guys ahead of him on the depth chart, keep him.
Believe Neil skated before the rest of the team along with Peter Regin.
im not sure if im the only one that thinks this is a huge problem and still should be the team's biggest concern ahead of the D logjam.
what do you think should be the best way to approach this problem?
Now that is great news !!
Neil will most likely be back next week, and Regin the week after, if all goes according to their rehabilitation.
Therefore, when those 3 return, who goes back to Binghamton
and /or , who sits out some games ??
Going to the States for black friday, probably going to get in a fight and get shot at!
I'll be headed to the beautiful city of Hamilton, Ontario this weekend to visit some friends.
only if he was a center..
He definetely won't go unclaimed. I could see Murray putting in a claim but I'm sure he'll get scooped up before us. Any word on Bergfors?
Looking forward to a nice BBQ steak dinner Friday, have a dozen pops and finally get to watch a Sens game, it feels like it's been weeks.
Other than that very much looking forward to spending some time with SKYRIM on PS3 this weekend, it's basely been out of the box.
Great news on Neil, Carks and Regin, looking forward to getting all three back soon. Most curious about Regin and how well he will perform after he gets a few adjustment games in...
Bergfors was put $125 waivers today. Likely headed to Europe.
Bergfors has now been placed on unconditional $125 waivers, whatever thar means exactly... as per Bob McKenzie.
But that's my point: we don't have to solve it soon really. Da Costa might grow into that role, Regin could come back rejuvinated and take that role, Zibanejad might be that guy in a couple of years, heck even Greening or Foligno might be the guy eventually.
I really don't care if we ever have a legit #2C this year or even next as long as we're building a guy or two up to be #2 in the future. If we can somehow land a guy who's young and ready to be #2 now, great, but the last thing I would want is to sign someone over 30 to essentially prevent us from grooming a younger guy.
if im not mistaken, usually that means hes going back to SEL.
If I had the day off today I'd totally 100% agree with you. Haha.... *sobs*
According to my edition of NHL 12 he's going to win the Hart and the Selke in 2015/16.
Cool - and what happens if he gets claimed on $125 waivers?
Turris was projected to be a #1 centre with elite skill. If you wait until he starts producing the price will only go up not come down. He is young & will have the opportunity to grow up with all of our good young prospects that will be coming along in the next few yrs.
I want to see Murray keep working at this to try & get the best deal possible but I'm not against giving up a 1st rd pick for a kid who can play now & has the potential to be very good. Unlike Filatov this kid is not a flight risk & who really knows what happened in Phoenix & why he wants out. Hopefully Phoenix will also take one of Lee or Kuba in this deal to make a little room on defence.
Why risk a potential lottery pick in a draft that is considered strong for a player that almost everybody agrees has personal issues who has had three years or so to prove he can play at this level and hasn't proved a damn thing?
If this was trade deadline day and we were in 8th i could understand it better. For the record if we are in 8th around trade deadline day I would still like to see Murray mmove some veterans out for picks and prospects.
I could understand giving up this pick for somebody like Jeff Skinner who at least has gone some way towards showing he can compete ath this level.
Turris might turn out to be great but I would rather trust Murray's scouting staff who will have had the chance to look at the guys for a long time and take all thing into account including character.
WOOOOOO....Lions missed field goal!
Oh, and this weekend I'll be laughing on the inside that SensChirp has to go to Hamilton (*stinktown!). Godspeed SC!
hahaha.. have a beauty one team! GO Freaking Sens!
Don, remember General Honoré: "Don't get stuck on stupid!" It's a fair offer make Bryan's day!
Note: You leave Kyle in "Your" room and you will get a call to move him from your owners!
I don't get it.. Elliott looked good in brief runs with the Sens but for the most part he was mediocre or downright awful.
Is it now the team in front of him, especially the D, that is making him such a standout this season. If he continues to play like this all season... he's going to get a big raise going into next year.
The team he's on does play a more sound defensive game then last year's Sens, but I think the extra year experience, especially with all the crap in Ottawa and Colorado last year, really helped push him to that next level. He's still over-performing right now, but at least he's showing he may actually belong in the NHL. Good for him!
Bergfors cleared... BUT Comeau might be a good pickup. Maybe get Winchester at centre next game with Alfie & Foligno. I know he's not stellar.. but he has more experience than DaCosta who will get killed in the faceoffs against either Malkin, Crosby or Staal..
We don't need any more logjam this year, let alone next season with more kids coming up.
We don't need any more logjam this year, let alone next season with more kids coming up.[/quote
Agree totally !!!!
We will soon end up with a "Taxi Squad" as in NFL !
The Flames only grab Turtis if they wake up and decide to rebuild. Phoenix would have to want one of their veterans though because Feaster will not move any of their very few prospects.
just look at the results of each while they were here.
Absolute NO on Turris, we already have enough experiments here of kids who WANT to play, even some who have had some success, which is more than Turris.
We are moving along nicely, do not stir up the chemistry.
If anything we have an abbundance of players, and need to make room - addition by subtraction may be in order.
Finally PM and BM really do have some hard decsions.
2 too manny D
with Neil and Regin on the way back we have 2 too many forwards.
Something has to be done, question is what does he do?
Any suggestions?
Decisions on the 2 defencemen is a bit harder to formulate.
Instead of scratching Rundblad, send him to Binghamton, where he can at least play regularly.
Maybe rotate both Lee and Carkner for afew games.
and how exactly do you plan to send konopka? im not sure why several people have trouble udnesrtanding the concept of 1way and 2way contracts. konopka cant just be put in bingo.
Well,
Guess that means Konopka stays, and Daugavins goes down
Filatov 1G 2A
Has Bingo finally 'turned the corner"? -- Now 5-1.
I'm pretty sure that Snoop-Daug would have to clear waivers now that he's played 10 games with the big club. Could be wrong though.
Easy enough to make ZK a healthy scratch though. Or maybe Regin would qualify for a "conditioning stint".
Guess that means Konopka stays, and Daugavins goes down
sending the daug down is a terrible idea. he has done everything asked of him and is making the most of his talent and is ecellent on the PK.
let's reward good soldiers by throwing them to bingo and making them feel like they don't matter
outstanding idea
It's a reality of the NHL. As long as they message it clearly it's not the end of the world.
@Chirp - do you know the specifics of Daugavins contract? I'm fairly sure that he'd have to clear waivers before going to Bingo now that he's played past 10 games in the NHL this season.
"He played for Bingo at the end of 2006-07, but not under a pro-contract. He signed his first pro-contract at the end of the season, in June of 2007, at the age of 19; that standard 3-year ELC was for the start of the 2007-08 season, but his contract 'slid' to the next year, presumably because he didn't play enough AHL games (I don't know how the mechanics of this work, TBH, but CapGeek does record the first year of his ELC 'sliding' to the next). So, from the 2008-09 season to the 2010-11 season, Daugavins was on his ELC, which expired this summer, when he re-signed his new 1-year deal. That means that he is now in his 4th pro season, which means that he IS waiver exempt at the moment -- at least until the end of this year, anyway."
OK...first, you don't need to talk to him like he's 5. Secondly show me where in the CBA it states a player on a one way can't be sent down? I will show you how a one way CAN be sent down. His name is Wade Redden. Don't like that one? Sheldon Souray.
Its guaranteed money, not location.
1 goal, 2 assists,
5-2 win
WHADDDDUUUUPPP RIIIBBSS
really? i didnt mean it to be offencive... if thats how he took it. im just saying ive seen that question on here far too many times and ive personally answerd it atleast 2 or 3 times and i know other posters have answerd it too. and for redden and souray. its called waivers. we have no reason to waive konopka (even if the other names are better than him)
Yes he is but that is the business of the NHL, someone needs to go down, someone without a 1 way and someone who can be brought back up later....Daug...
We have plenty of guys like him in the bottom 6, they're like a dime a dozen...
he has earned it and then some.
I stated earlier that sending him down would be a mistake and would send the wrong message about how we treat players.. I understand that it's the business of the NHL, my comment was geared towards sending him down for somebody like Filatov who had done nothing to warrant a call-up. Once Regin and Neil are back in the line-up or if Filatov proves he deserves another shot it's a different story.
Never one for emotional attachment, Tookie tells it like it is.
I'd send Da Costa down before the Daug but that's just me. Does anyone know of there's a limit as to how many players a team can carry in the NHL. I'm pretty sure there is but I don't know for sure and I'm too lazy to check.
When everyone is healthy I doubt we'll carry two extra forwards and two extra dmen. Here I am hoping we out in a claim for Comeau even though that would give us even more of a logjam. Hopefully Murray has a trade in the works.
I am also relatively unimpressed by Da Costa, he could see some time in Bingo once Regin returns.
22 points in 21 games, 22nd in the league.
Goals for 2.81, 14th in the league.
Goals against 3.29, 29th in the league.
5 on 5 goals for/against ratio 0.77, 26th in the league.
PP% 20.8, 6th in the league.
PK% 79.1, 24th in the league.
FO% 50.3, 16th in the league.
So standing at 22nd in the league with pretty much bottom 8 stats, I still think we are on pace to finish bottom 5 in the league. I dont see Columbus or Islanders moving from the last 2 spots. I think its gonna be a battle between, Colorado, Tampa, Winnipeg, Carolina, and the Sens for that last bottom 5 spot.
Colorado, Tampa, Winnipeg, Carolina, Sens
Calgary
Anaheim
Islanders
Columbus
Yeah thanks Colorado. If Washington gets a lottery pick this year they could be retardedly good next year. If Detroit gets moved to the east as well the eastern conference is only going to get better and better.
Tampa has way too much talent to miss the playoffs, let alone finish bottom 5. Same goes for Anaheim, probably won't make the playoffs but they have too much talent to finish bottom 5. Once Getzlaf Perry and Ryan pick it up they'll start winning a lot of games.
There should only be 1 skate on the market and that is Graf, I've tried them all, Nike, Bauer, Easton..., if you want total customization and comfort level you only wished in your dreams, get a Graf skate. Expensive yes but you wont ever by another skate as long as you live...
I have the Graf Ultra G5.
Go here and customize your skate.

Boudreau regularly seems to get out coached when it matters the most.
But a couple of key changes and....
Thanks Tookie... The Ultra G5's are actually one sale at hockey life right now for $500. Only problem is I'm pretty sure they only come in one width and I need a fairly wide skate. I'll be sure to check them out though.
Graf is pretty much the only skate I haven't tried.
