The good news for Sens fans is Alfredsson was on the ice with his teammates at the morning skate and really seems to be progressing well. He passed all his baseline tests and could potentially make the trip with the team on Friday. Would be fitting that the Captain make his return on 11/11/11.
Meanwhile, the Sens will be looking to snap a three game losing streak with a surging Rangers team in town. New York comes into this one having won four straight.
One change to the Ottawa line up as David Rundblad will draw back in and take the place of Brian Lee. Same look up front with the exception of Nikita Filatov who was returned to Bingo. Konopka takes that spot. Here is how the Sens lined up at the morning skate.
Greening-Spezza-Michalek
Foligno-Da Costa-Butler
Daugavins-Smith-Neil
Winchester-Konopka-Condra
Kuba-Karlsson
Cowen-Gonchar
Phillips-Rundblad
Craig Anderson gets the start for the home side while the Rangers will counter will Henrik Lundqvist. All the action can be seen live on TSN starting at 7:30 or streamed on the radio at Team1200.
I didnt give out these tix cuz I wanted to see Wolski get pounded....Well I guess I can always go see Gabby and B-Rich do they're thing!! lol
Also King Henry! He's amazing to watch play live!
Believe that lineup is : Greening - Spezza - Michalek
and also on Line 4 it should be:
Winchester- Konopka - Condra
Why do you insist on correcting Chirp every single game-day post about which side the wingers are on lol we all get it
3-2 for the Sens.
GO SENS GO!!!
I don't mind. I often get them mixed up and it helps to have people correct. Obviously not a huge difference but want to make sure I have the proper line up.
Wearing your Kessel jersey tonight or your Phaneuf?
Neither, he's got on his Aulie 2011-2012 allstar jersey.
@AFM,
I do not correct him, unless it is not correct.
FTI, he thanked me for giving him the heads up a few days ago
So why are you so picky ??
The lineup usually comes from Ian Mendes, and he makes the same error from the get go .
I was wondering why you were being so picky about the line-ups lol its all good my man
Thanks buddy!
Check out the start of a game, and from past few games on both Sportsnet, CBC, they always post the lineup on the TV as : Michalek - Spezza- Greening ( from Ian Mendes)
See that Chirp has corrected same !
Touched on this yesterday. Not happening on this road trip but there is still some time to get it done.
Admittedly was a huge Butler fan last year, but really disappointed in him so far this year.
Rather give the Daug a shot with Foligno and DaCosta.
Important game for Butler, if Alfie comes back Friday, right now I say Butler sits and Daug stays in... unless he lights it up tonight...IMO
GO SENS GO!
Well I think Kessel, he is leading the NHL in points afterall...
If your going to trash me atleast name bad players, like, Scrivens or Gustavsson or Crabb or Connolly lol...
nice to see patty lalime, just surprised that he's in the dressing room
Glad its game night, has been a long few days.
Well I think Kessel, he is leading the NHL in points afterall...
glad to see you coming out of the closet LOL
"We lost our captain. Our captain's still not in the lineup. I look right across every morning and see (the name) Alfredsson. I usually see his gear hanging there, and that bugs me. Right or wrong, if he was hurt legally, illegally, whatever way you want to explain it, our captain's out of our lineup, and that's a big blow to our team, and I look at that every day and that drives me up a wall, and it pisses me off."
soooo at what point will you be cheering for the Sens?
man I got lab till 830, gonna finish as quickly as I can and run home for this game. Gonna be soooo many fights. Just picked up neil and konopka in my fantasy league for PIMs and Hits
All I can say is he had better not do anything stupid to cause his team to be on the PK for 5 min...
if you are a Sens fan you have got to love this quote!
go get'em Konopka...going to the game and I will watch out for him...so too better the Rangers
you know what, I was listening to Jason York last night and it got me thinking, it was a great comeback, and not to take anything away, cause I loved it, but sometimes sending a message is just as good as the 2 points, and they took out Alfie with a "Dirty" hit!
Go Get'em
Meh...we're rebuilding anyways, let the PK unit get some practice tonight against the rangers. GO GET 'EM BOY!!!! :)
I have seen what Tookie gets when he offers up an opinion that differs from the norm, so I will expect the same backlash...but seriously, watch his (Konopka, not Tookie) next few fights. And yes, he could kick the crap out of me, but I'm about as tough as grade 3 arithmetic...
Those can linger.
I think he should consider amputation.
...also just grabbed tix to next weeks Sens game here, will be my 4th game in 4 seasons of me living in Calgary! Hoping the Alfie will be back by then!
Big 2 pts!
Let's go Boys!!!
2-0 Sens, Andy with the goose egg.
I wouldn't worry about too much about the backlash. People pick on tookie not because of his point of views, but because he has a very "troll-like" way of voicing his opinion.
I agree with many of his points, but disagree with the way he usually writes his posts. I guess his mother never gave him enough attention :(
To prove this point further; I'll agree with him right now. King Henry will decide the outcome of the game tonight. I on the other hand, am more excited to see if the Sens can pick-up their power-play, and see if Rundblad and the boys can give us some entertaining offense
Hate to say it, but 3-2 Rangers (we're getting in penalty trouble tonight unless PMac can cool some heads haha)...boo!!!
When they score a goal? what kind of dumb question is that, LOL.
True Boom, it is a fact he does not win many, but I love his attitude...
however with Smith, Neil, Konopka, Greening, and even Cowen, I thought we would be more of a smashmouth team, but really haven't seen much of that this year, maybe tonight?
...also just grabbed tix to next weeks Sens game here, will be my 4th game in 4 seasons of me living in Calgary! Hoping the Alfie will be back by then!
I'll see you there Hook. I haven't missed a Sens game in Calgary in 11 years since I left Ottawa.
Is that all you got, kinda lame, making fun of an NHL'ers hair...
I dont think he gives a shit about his hair, after all, he is in the NHL (and one of its best players) and your not...
Sorry Sandy but probably the best thing long term for this organisation is have tonight be a "revenge" night. Too many times I have seen teams take liberties at Alfredsson and Spezza without having teamates jump in. What Konopka is doing is showing our young guys that they are a family and if you go after our captain ... we'll go after yours. Hit Callahan hard and often boys. GO SENS
I agree with this completely, how many times have we seen Alfie in the past couple years get belted, legal or not and nobody defends him, mind boggling, sure winning the game is important but its only 1 game, you have 81 more to play...
Im not saying crosscheck everyone in the face, but fight, hit and fight, dont let them get away with it.
Bell nailed Alfie, Spezza went after him, lol, come on...nothing after that...
Adams nails Alfie, Michalek goes after him....come on...nothing after that...
Now Wolski nails Alfie, nobody goes after him...nothing after that...
Who cares if we lose this game, something better be done or teams will just keep doing it, makes us look like we dont stick up for each other...
Haha thx SC, some posters just cant keep their hands off me!
Tooks and I are on the same page here. A loss with a statement made can result in more wins in the future. Once you take emotion out of your game you are one step behind.
I feel an Emilio Estevez moment coming on ... C'mon Ducks, Ducks fly together !!! Lol.
not as good as Tyler Seguin and Doug Hamilton!!!! :)
You're right. Especially this year, when they are not expected to compete for a playoff spot, I would think it would be more important than ever to, at least, establish a strong team identity, and gain a reputation of being a bunch of guys who stick up for one another. Don't initiate crap, but, for sure, respond to it.
Wait for this....AGREED Tookie...ouch that hurts :)
There you go, united we stand even as Chirp readers. Now Sens better bring it tonight or else I'll be peeved off tomorrow.
Konopka can finally do what he was brought in here to do and that is toughness and nastiness, get Neil to run people, Smith can pound a few aswell, so can Greening, if only he would be meaner!!
We also need a little Nastiness on the back end, A la Pronger type. I think Cowen can become that needed nastiness but can still play. Love how the kid is playing with the Big club and he'll just get better with age. Just like wine. I'm getting thirsty here.
Ummm not sure if you looked lately Miguel but Kessel is leading the league in points...Seguin is like 14th...I dont even know if Hamilton is playing...
really...your still trying to defend that???? Even you have to admit that was a brutal trade
you should feel shame
There you go, 82 games is a long season and a team needs to get wins in different ways. Some days you win by skill, some just by brut force. Tonight is one of those games. If I'm Pauly Mac I'm insisting on EVERYONE finishing they're checks, even Spezza. No curling away. After tonight it's a 6 game road trip, no better way to bring a team together than to have it win a bruising game together. They need to learn to win games this way also.
Yeah that was great! Stepping up for our teammates goes a long way, and just to show how long, where did we go in 2007?
It pretty much equals out now that they sent Kaberle for Colbourne and a pick last year.
The point was Kessel is leading the league, what can you say about that?
Chara was pounding on Matt Timander during that fight so it wasn't the year we went to the finals.
Boston obviously wasn't missing Kessel when they won the cup last spring, and Seguin is leading their team in points with 15 points in 13 games. Dougie Hamilton is going to be a great defenceman one day, I'm excited to watch him play in the WJ's this year.
Don't forget the third player Boston drafted from the 2nd round pick they recieved as well, Jared Knight who could become a pretty good player one day as well.
Kessel is an awesome player, but I think Boston still won that trade. Either way, I guarantee neither team regrets making that deal/
Wouldn't it be great to have Pauly Mac yelling at Torts tonight LOL That's the kind of stuff I want to see out of the SENS tonight ... EMOTION !! Enjoy the game everyone ... SENS 5 NYR 4
Oct. 31 – Nov. 6: Matt Puempel, Peterborough Petes
Oct. 24 – Oct. 30: Shane Prince, Ottawa 67’s
I have finally figured what makes Tookie tick !!
His mind is witty, and faster on his feet, as any mind I have seen in my life.
He always has an answer, for any statement posted about him
All leaves suck. Including players that had some merit before donning the blue and white. Kessel might score goals but he's a douche and nobody likes him (laaaaast piiiiick) and Phaneuf has always been a bit of a douchebag.
And wasn't really "trashing" you, just poking fun.
D'oh, the year of the video I watched mislead me then, did we lose to the Sabres tho, lol, look what it did for them!! lol!!
I know, hence the sarcastic reply...
I dont own any leafs gear, except for my hockey pants have a blue shell...
eed trade help. I am TEAM A
Team A : Stamkos, S Mason
trade with
Team B : J Pavelski, C Anderson
or
Team A : Stamkos, Enroth, Mason
for
TeamC : Kopitar or E Staal and Pavelec
Goals (G), Assists (A), Plus/Minus (+/-), Penalty Minutes (PIM), Powerplay Points (PPP), Shorthanded Points (SHP), Game-Winning Goals (GWG), Shots on Goal (SOG), Faceoffs Won (FW), Hits (HIT), Blocks (BLK)
Goalies account for 1/3 of Cats
I have S mason, Nabokov, Enroth, Fleury and Dipietro
After his comment... the refs will be watching as well. I am a Sens fan... and that hit on Alfie was dirty. But wait until Wolski is back into the lineup. The Sens have 2 more games against the Rangers after this one.
GO SENS
What they should have done is jump on Wolski AFTER the hit... but no one did anything. Who are they going after then? Gaborik or Richards?
Hit them hard but clean.... just not stupid.
Oh and Greening will fight....
Agreed - it should have been taken care of at the time or at least during that game (but remember ZK was already gone).
Nothing wrong with hit (cleanly) first and ask questions later tonight though, but we can't have any sort of "revenge" BS going on. The problem is that they don't react at the time when refs are more inclined to let the players police themselves. I have to think that if a big scrum and a couple of fights had broken out after the Wolski hit that the penalty might have been more severe and Shanny would have reacted differently (i.e. supsension). It just would have drawn more focus to how bad the hit was.
Personally unless you are getting a better goalie, I would not downgrade Stamkos to Pavelski or Staal. Kopitar maybe, but Pavelec isn't a huge upgrade over Mason. As long as this is not a keeper league too. If you could get/counter with Kopitar and Anderson for Stamkos, Mason (maybe even Enroth too) then I'd say go for it.
Wait? I think this isn't a 1 time exact revenge type of situation. That hit by Wolski should make the Rangers-Sens matchup quite physical for the remainder of all their games this year and possibly carryover into the future. Hell our Philly games still get scrappy and the source of that conflict is years in the past.
I'm hoping that Konpka takes this pissed off energy and uses it to re-adjust Sean Avery's face. It would be a nice parting gift for Avery as he heads back to the ahl for the rest of his career.
As a socalled sens fan you shouldnt be constantly saying negative things about them unless your truly not a sens fan.
Maybe he promised the stache he'd stir up some shit and that he'd rather get duspended than be a healthy scratch,

Would you trade Jason Speeza for MIke Richards
Jason Spezza
- PPG
-28 years old
-olympian(taxi squad)
526 games - 532 points
Mike Richards
Captain
2 years younger
Leadership when Alfie Retires
Cheaper
Hustle Heart
Olympian- Gold medal Canada
453 games -349 points
http://www.tsn.ca/live/nhl/nhlontsn/
He works hard to be game ready, and stays positive
Our teams nice guys impression has always been an annoyance of mine.
Based on your info, with Spezza at over 1 point per game,
you would have to add another player along with Richards, to make a reasonable trade.
No Deal !!
FREE FILATOV !!!!!!!
Agreed..he has been complete and utter trash all season.
Whoever said he was going to score 2 tonight, well that can count as 1, LOL...
that was me bro... I didn't mention which team he'd score on haha fuck
Never going to Learn !!!
Good showing by Cowen in that fight. Younger and less experienced but he held his own.
Free Filatov. Butler out.
Give Lee another chance.
FREE FILATOV !!!!!!!!!
easy on the negativity boys and girls.
It should've been a 2-1 victory had Gonchar not made that sweet pass to Stepan. Rundblad according to TSN lead the team in giveaways. Spezza constantly thinks he can bypass through skaters and coughs up the puck every time he tried it. All of this shit is making Kuba get off scott free because even he wasn't that bad tonight in comparison to the rest of the team. Thank God there's always workhorses like Michalek, Foligno and Da Costa.
We already knew all that. We have all season.
Gonchar/Kuba will be gone soon enough, Rundblad is a kid, Spezza is Spezza (he's not going to change).
You can't say it should have been 2-1, because as soon as one event happens, it changes the sequence of events for everything thereafter. They made a movie about it, called the Butterfly Effect.
There are going to be nights like this with this team, if you aren't prepared to live with it, there's a good chance you will be driven crazy by season's end.
Welcome to the rebuild.
Good to see, lord knows we could use some toughness on our backend.
Obviously, like everyonelse, also impressed with Da Costa tonight.
Kind of expected this year.
DaCosta with the moves tonight.
Karlsson was everywhere.
It hurt losing the two points.
If Spezzas moves got by the players he was putting them on and he found the back of the net we would not be complaining about it.
To be fair, there weren't to many times this game where I thought "Wow, if he just got by that player". It was like, "What are you thinking?".
He's also got to stop skating himself into the corner. The opposition must expect it by now, because I do.
That was a ridiculous effort by DaCosta in the final minutes when he was batting the puck and dodging players. If he scored there, I thinking that would have been up for highlight of the year. Well, you win some you loss some...loving the effort though!
That was a tough loss to take. outplayed them almost the entire game, they just capitalized on rookie mistakes.
It is time for FILITOV TO PLAY and it should be WITH SPEZZA. Butler is doing squat with this opportunity he's been given. shake up the lines a bit and get Filitov with Spezza please. At least on the power play for cryin out loud.
Lost 4 staight... hitting that wall... are we back on the FAIL4NAIL posts yet ? Lol
And like I said yesterday, Gonchar hurts this team more than he helps it.
Love DaCosta. I can't wait to see this guy once we're deep into the rebuilding process (in a few years)
I'm not sure why fans are getting upset about last nights loss. As a few others have mentioned, last nights game was a perfect representation of how rebuilding teams play (turn-overs, missed oppertunities, etc).
Props to Patrick 2.0 for his 3-2 Rangers pick.
Since Greening was hit in the Buffalo game.. I assume he is still feeling the affects. After all, he is basically still a rookie player and will have off nights. Also without Alfie in the lineup... all the opposing teams are keying on the Spezza line -- and all 3 of those players have to cope with that... It's about adjustment for Greening...
