Sens ReCall Daugavins

Bit of a surprise at practice this morning as the Sens were joined by Kaspars Daugavins.

With Filatov in Binghamton, it was assumed he was next in line for a call up but they have decided to go with Daugavins instead. Should be interesting to see where he fits in tomorrow night in Carolina.

Daugavins had a strong training camp and has picked up six points in his first seven games down in Bingo.  He will wear #23 with the big club. The Senators have just hit the ice for practice.  Will have a full update in a little bit.

He's played well on the pk down there too. I think this move is a combination of reward his point production, his leadership, he defensive awareness and his effort level. He's a fan favorite down there for a reason. Could also see the argument that it's a reward for staying with the organization and not going to Latvia like he sort of did in the summer.

Always liked the flashes of skill Daugavins has shown in Bingo, but I feel like he's never really been given the talent to succeed with at the NHL level. great chance for him.

While I think it is a bit unfair that Filatov gets stuck in Bingo, this is his opportunity to show that he is a team player.

This may help Zib and Foligno if they keep this lineup tomorrow night!!

Seems to be in the spot of Alfredsson. Still waiting to hear if Neil has a suspension coming after shoving a linesman on Saturday night.

Why do you think it's unfair i think daugs deserves it more than Filatov

For what it's worth there was report in Latvian this summer
that Daugavins can opt out of contract in Dec. If he hasn't played some NHL gms

Murray is going to meet with the media this afternoon. Could be an announcement on Zibanejad's future with the team.

No decision made yet on Zibanejad. He will play tomorrow night. Alfredsson is questionable with a hip flexor.

Alfie looked good in the 3rd, so I'd say its more maintenance than anything.

Alfie is not playing tomorrow night. I dont think Mika will be sent back to Sweden. I think it will be a year backwards for the his development with the bigger ice surface and different rules.
