Voting Now Open!

(UPDATE 12:30 PM)- It has been brought to my attention that a number of readers are having trouble with the current poll. Trying to sort out the issue and get the poll up and running.  Thanks for your patience, folks!

After two weeks of excellent contributions from SensChirp readers, it's time to vote on who will be the next SensChirp Contributor.

Each of the three finalists brings something a little different to the table and I'm asking for your opinion to help decided who the winner will be.  The poll appears on the home page of the site.  Hope to leave it open until Sunday evening so vote while you can!

I'll then announce the winner in Monday morning's blog.

Thanks to everyone that took the time to participate or provide feedback on this contest.  I know this was something a little different but I appreciate you sharing your support and patience over the last couple of weeks.

Good luck to the three finalists!

Chirp,

I'm logged in and everything, and when I try to vote I get a blank white page that says "Invalid Token".

For shits & giggles I tried logging out and back in to see if that makes a difference, but same error still.

Just a note for everyone here. I'm just an every day Sens fan, but I have a concern. Once the new contributor is selected, can we please leave it at that? I'd really hate to read criticism of the writer in his comments section. Ie: "horrible article, we should have picked the other author, etc. "

I just know that the new contributor is going to be trying very hard to please us, so let's just be thankful and send any concerns privately to Chirp or the author.

Just my two cents. Hope I'm not alone.

Adam

Just to let you know

@Adam

completely agreed.

thats why I like that Chirp is only taking the poll to see if everyone is on the same page as him. If its Chirp's final call and I do believe that it is, he kinda runs the site you know, that no one is going to say 'Chirp should have picked a different writer'.

completely agree Adam, all the authors have proven themselves, so lets read and enjoy, and keep comments directly to the topic of the article. We know some will choose to go back and debate the author, but I suggest we simply ignore that, IMO of course

If you click on the results button you can see that votes are being made. Not sure why the token error is generated something to do with the original publishing of the poll, I've seen issues like that in other sites when cache is enabled. Then again, I know nothing about how this site is designed. But it looks like the votes are being calculated, so vote away!!

Alfie artical has taken a big lead, but looking forward to seeing who wins.

Hot DAMN that is a well written piece, even if some of the projections I found a bit depressing, ie no first line or pairing players that are "above average" plus the Lehner projection as well.

Agreed. I'm even amazed that with the negativity of the Rundblad review in comparison to Zibanejad, that their standings weren't reversed. But the worst case scenarios presented are still pretty decent.

I'm sure you'll figure it out Chirp. And I'd suggest you extend the deadline as well... perhaps even as much as a week! I say so because not all of us check this site during the off season (lets admit it, there's NOTHING new!) and extending it by a week would mean a lot more of us will get a chance to vote as they are bound to check it at least once a week. I check this site every day these days, and I gotta say Chirp, you did a very good job with this contest. I mean summer is pretty dry for hockey... but you kept the hockey talk going!

Anyways, I'm glad I have another sport for the summer - F1, but they're only on once every two weeks! Gah! Summer is good to catch up with friends... but for entertainment, its the worst!

The guy was nothing short of brutal last year. His is a signing I beieve we are all going to regret. My feeling is that when a player over 30 years of age plays as poorly as he did in a contract year the odds are much better that he will continue to decline rather than have a bounce back year. I hope I'm wrong but it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of posters here are calling for his demotion by next year at the latest.

Do you think that maybe what they had in net for the first 4 mos had something to do with the play of the whole defense. They were so scared to make a play figured any screwup would be in the back of the net.

D played much better down the stretch.. they had a goalie.

I think the Phillips signing was a good old boy sign thinking of the team second but it is what it is.
I don't dislike the guy and he is a great person but as far as hockey, he does not wow me.

NHL.com has listed seven players that they are looking at to have break out seasons. Among them is Bobby Butler, sharing the list with the likes of Evander Kane, Okposo, and Oshie.

It's nice to see some of our guys being recognized by the rest of the NHL, giving me one of those warm, fuzzy feelings about the upcoming season.

This seems to be stalled, and voting is somewhat sporadic,

Would suggest that the results from Aug 11th to Aug 14th,
be recorded as is. You should then simply ask your readers, to vote under this comment, as to which Day they would vote, and then tabulate all of the next 3 days of votes, and add them to existing results. You could then be in a position to name you Next Contributor !!
