We are still working on adding the feature but as of right now I am not able to post from the Blackberry. Normally not a big deal but I just have this weird feeling Bryan Murray will know my guard is down and make the announcement today.
If that's the case, I strongly encourage you all to follow me on Twitter if you aren't already. You can follow SensChirp here and I will do my best to update on there if I hear anything new.
I mentioned this last night in the comment section but apparently Kurt Kleinendorst has indicated that he would consider a spot as an assistant but it would have to be with the right head coach. He has had offer to be an assistant as recently as this past season but prefers to be the head man.
Spoke with a contact yesterday who suggested the Sens are very much interested in having Kleinendorst as part of the staff. We'll see if they can find a scenario that works for both sides. If you haven't had a chance to check out the Kleinendorst interview I suggest checking it out here. Always insightful and a breath of fresh air when compared to the traditional hockey interview.
Anyway, like I said I'll do my best to keep things up to date on here today either through updates in the comment section or on Twitter.
Enjoy your Saturday folks!
So you personally know how Craig Ramsay coaches? You've been in a dressing room with him?
Craig Ramsay was part of the reason for an improved Atlanta Thrashers team. They may not have made the playoffs, but they literally surprised everybody.
Ramsay's a good coach. Maybe not the Sens next coach, but no spring chicken by any means.
Atlanta nose-dived the 2nd half of the season (I believe one of the worst records for the 2nd half). I don't think it was Ramsay's fault, but there was definitely some lack of discipline on the team's part to fall apart like that.
Judging by KK interview yesterday, it seems as though Murray asked if he wanted him to stay in Bingo or be a Assistant coach for the big club. I really think, and Hope, that Paul Maclean is the head coach next season and KK is one of his assistants.
Draft is coming soon! Getting excited. Hope we can land Landeskog.
The Sens were interested in Bouwmeester when he was the Panthers. There could some truth to this rumour.
I wouldn't be against Bouwmeester, but Flames would have to take back one of Gonchar/Kuba. Bouwmeester is much more of an East style defenseman IMO anyway. Think Ek is on crack though. For sure soon enough he'll have Spezza going to LA (his original mention was it was a three-way trade).
I agree, the deal would have to include either of those defenseman. I'm thinking Calgary would not eager to take on either of them though, unless they are looking for cap relief. That would be the only benefit for them.
I'm not "cranking" on you, but I do wonder why people post everything that fucker says here. He says a lot of things...
loose KK if Murray doesnt offer him the head coach position - it would be a mistake to hire Wilfred Brimley
IMO, this would be VERY benificail for us if it did happen. As long as we don't get rid of any significant draft picks.
I read that as well. I'm surprised that he did not predict Spezza going the other way. Rumours concerning the Sens always include Spezza.
Why in hell would the Sens want another D... they have 6 already with 2 rookies ready to take some spots... sure add another one to the mix.. That's an unreal crazy contract... is he even worth it?
the sens just won a cup a few days ago.
A Stanley Cup in 1967 is just as relevant today as a Stanley Cup in 1927.
Chew on that for a second.
So, if you're counting 40+ year old championships, the Senators have won 11.
Dang was hoping it was Iggy lol O.o
J Bo Karlsson
Gonch Rundblad
Big Rig Cowen
Pretty Fackin solid,
Calgary is tight to the cap as well, so they couldn't take much in the way of salary
Wiercioch, 9MM and a 2nd for Jbo?
I think this is a move Cgy has to make, so we can kind of put Feaster in a corner.

With our defensive depth, I'm just not seeing the need to give up a top 6 forward, a solid d prospect and a 2nd rounder for someone like J Bo. I say try to move out Kuba and/or Gonch and sign a top 6 forward.

Feaster has a history with Kuba. Both were in Tampa together were they not?
To Calgary: Kuba, 2nd, one of Moller/Simmonds
To Ottawa: J Bo
To LA Kings: Michalek
no offence, but i know we ALL want to get rid of Kuba, and many of us want to get Gonchar out of here too. HOWEVER, getting rid of Kuba to get bouwmeester would be great, but to get rid of michalek imo is just stupid, we dont have enough top6 forwards, why in the world would we give up 1. and on LA part, last year they already said they wouldnt move simmonds, he is WAY too good to move over a crap trade like this. simmonds stats dont show that he is good but what he does other than scoring is what makes him so great.
Yost doesn't have many sources (he said so himself), but the one he does have is very reliable. He hates rumours too, so if he says it, Ottawa is definitely considering it.
Agreed. Anyway, why in the world would the Sens want another defenceman? Theyare chock full of them on the roster and in hot prospects.
That guy would be more credible if his fantasies actually took into consideration what each team has and what it needs...
CC thought he could just throw 9MM with Alfie and Spezz and the loss of "Has Been" Heatley wouldn't be as evident. Sure it worked in the first 30 games or so, that was it. But despite the fact that it was clearly not working anymore CC continued trying it, when he really should have been trying Alfie-Spezz-AK2 7, Alfie on the Left, AK27 on the right firing one-timers from their offwings? What could have been???
But we only seen it predominately on the 5-3 PP's.
Michalek is inconsistent and injury prone. Sharks realized they overpaid after his first season and were ITCHING to rid of his 4.3 Mill.
The 3 are starting to look more and more a like(Heatley,Ch eech,9MM) Decline, Decline, DECLINE, year after year after year.
i still call that michalek will be just like fisher, earlier known as just injury prone and nothing more, and gradually becomes more consistant and healthy. cheech and heatley are 30, they are just players that had their prime early in their career, well cheech never had a prime he just had a fluke with thornton feeding him everything. michalek is still 26, give him another 2-3 more years or so, if he doesnt hit atleast 25 goals then he is done as a top 6 forward in my books.
Scores 26 goals in 06-07, and 4 seasons later he's yet to even hit 25...
26 in 78 (0.33 goals per game). in ottawa he has gotten 22 in 66(0.33 goals per game) and 18 in 66(0.27 goals per game) although i dont count any of the sens players stats this past season as it was an entire teams stat slump. so im saying just like i did above, he will be more healthy and consistent, hence he will hit 25 goals. and i still give him 2 years.
My thinking for lines will be (After a few months of some prospects in the AHL and bodies shipped out or being sent down).
Jonathan Huberdeau - Jason Spezza - Bobby Butler
Colin Greening - Jakob Silfverberg - Milan Michalek
Nick Foligno - Zack Smith - Daniel Alfredsson
Erik Condra - Jesse Winchester - Chris Neil
David Rundblad - Erik Karlsson
Chris Phillips - Jared Cowen
Matt Carkner - Sergei Gonchar
Craig Anderson
Ty Conklin
And don't forget, BM said he is going to add a top6 forward
ALfie needs a break to preform like himself. age is catching up to him. Michalek was originally a RW until he got to Ottawa trying to fill Heatley's role.
The guy was playing at the same level we've expected him to at the beginning of the year. His play completely fell off when his back started bothering him and you could tell because he started to play differently. If his back can recover, I still believe Alfie can put up 60 points.
anyone else hear all the boos Florian got after winning his fight. hahahaha i hate vancouver
Some interesting comments by Ray Shero.
I was wondering if you knew when the next Senate Reform was?
As for this Jaybo stuff, I find it hard to believe but if there was some interests in a deal then maybe Murray could convience Feaster to do a Kuba, a prospect and a 3rd for Jaybo. If not maybe Feaster doesn't need that cap space or he hopes to get a better deal elsewhere. Either way its no loss for us if they say no.
Yeah that was on Friday Garrioch is a moron .. Paul Maclean is are next coach lets focus on the DRAFT !!!
Wonder who else gets that 2nd interview.
"Any time you go in and have surgery on your back, you always worry about scar tissue and if that's going to stay with you," he said. "That's probably the biggest reason (not to do it). And where I am right now, that doesn't justify having surgery, either. The way it's going (with rehab), I hope not to go down that road at all."
And if he says he's going to be 100% for training camp I foresee a 65+ point season barring injury. The old Alfie will be back I'm not concerned, nor should any of you.
Blah blah blah, he's old, he should hang them up, next season is his last,
Shhhyyyaaattttt tttttt UP!
from Bruce Garrioch's Twitter.
i'd like to see KK come on as the assistant.
huh?
I have it on good authority that there will be a strong "Maritime Presence" in the Ottawa Senators organization next year.
What are you talking about? No announcement has been made yet!
It was only BMck's opinion, so far.
Who Cameron or Gallant... both are from beautiful PEI.
