  • Thank You

Without overstating it, this really was the best season I have had as a fan of the Ottawa Senators.

And while many fans will quickly default to the Stanley Cup run, there was just something about this team that made this lockout shortened season extra special. Cheering for and blogging about the underdog Ottawa Senators team was the most thrilling, unexpected, delightful experience I've had as a sports fan.

Calder Cup Quest Continues in Bingo

After stealing the first two games of the series on enemy turf, the Binghamton Senators return home for Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals, tonight at the Broome Country Veterans Memorial Arena.

The puck drops at 7:05.

The Sens will make one change from their Game 2 line up. Patrick Wiercioch took the morning skate and will dress. Bobby Raymond comes out to make room. No surprises in goal either as Robin Lehner will make the start.

It will be a short turnaround for both teams as Game 4 is scheduled to go tomorrow night in Bingo.

A handful of SensChirp readers will be watching the next two games very closely as we wait to find out if Game 5 will even be necessary. The next road trip to Bingo is scheduled to leave on Saturday afternoon but if the BSens take the next two we will have to reschedule for the Finals.

To anyone that has already signed up, refunds will be issued should the game not be required. The refund process is actually quite simple so I encourage others to sign up just in case. Still a few spots open so be sure to book your spot before it sells out.

Still early in the planning stages but I'm working on what will be the Second Annual SensChirp Duck Hunt. It went pretty well last summer so I definitely plan on doing something similar over the course of the off season.

I think sometime after July 1 would make the most sense because that is when we tend to completely dry up in terms of Sens news. Keep an eye on the site for details.

Great to see the defense starting to get healthy. Who is left that's injured? Hale, D Smith & Schira. Are they expected back.

I just want them to make the Calder Cup Final.

It would be great to see a game 5 -- just hoping to see them win it on home ice to make that Final.

Any update on the coach yet Chirp? Sens need to get going on that. 4 other teams also need coaches... and the draft is about 5 weeks away. Would they not want the coach in place for the draft combine? Or do coaches go to that..

Hey Chirp, I read a post not long ago that the AHL finals are possibly carried on Sportsnet. Any way to confirm that? I would love to be able to see the B-sens if they can close the deal this week...also what are the rules as to who the Sens can send down for the playoffs?

Gear down bud,
It's May. BM has a lot of shit to do and Yes I agree Silfverberg should be a priority, he's not the number one priority right now.

He'll get his contract, relllax.

Generally the AHL finals make it on NHL Network.

@383

So what if its May you get him signed considering now Silfverberg is considering staying in Sweden for another year I think signing him should be "a" top priority . He is top Prospect in are organization .

I would think a coach and the draft are two larger priorities for BM.
Again, I agree they should get Silfverberg inked, I can see why BM hasn't done it yet considering what else is going on.

0 #15 PraiseAlfie84 2011-05-17 15:04
Ottawa offered him to come last season and he said he wanted to stay in Sweden another year to develop. I think it's sort of stupid of him to be demanding a contract after we already told him we want him to come over last season.

Even if he stays in Sweden another year, I don't think that's the worst thing, we have enough prospects coming up through the system this season plus a few picks that we will have to evaluate as well.

I agree with 383, it's only May, we haven't even hit the draft yet. I'd say let's get out drafts and FA signings in order, if any, then sign Silfverburg, it's not like he can sign with another team (can he?)....

Silfverberg said the only thing he has heard from Sens is that... "All I know is that they want me to go over for the training camp and give it a chance"-Silfver berg...I dont blame the kid for wanting a contract and too have him over here with Alfie still around on the ice its a bonus ..Not trying to Fight or Debate just think he could be something really special and offering him a deal isn't the worst thing

Let's wait until it's necessary to have guys under contract before we start complaining Silfverberg isn't signed yet.

It might even be best to have him play another year and hone his skills in the SEL.

I'm just saying wait and see before taking Murray down a notch. There may well be a time to complain about that but it isn't now.

PS KIRK MULLER!!!!!!

If they offered a contract to Caporusso -- then why not Silfverberg. Of course, the WC just ended 2 days ago.. give them a little time.

Let's go Bingo.

There is plenty of time for Ottawa to address entry level contracts from here right up until the start of the next regular season. People getting their panties in a twist about ELC contracts are just woefully uninformed. It's a process and it will all happen in due time. Expect Silfverberg to sign an ELC any time between now and a couple weeks before the regular season. Virtual certainty to get done as has already be stated publicly by both media and team management.

In the other comment someone was saying who Cgy would want from us...

MICHALEK!!!!

I'm sure the flames would take him,

Feaster had Kuba in TBay, and the flames need 3 or 4 defensemen unless they bring back all their UFA D men

Maybe Lee, although don't think we'll get a whole lot for him. I was a huge Lee critic but I have to agree he turned a bit of a corner towards the end of last year. He really didn't do anything special or flashy for us,,, the thing was is that we didn't notice him, meaning he was doing his job and not making mistakes. So maybe he created a market for himself
