(UPDATE 10:23 AM)- Appropriate timing I would say.  This morning, the NHL announced that Ottawa Senators Captain Daniel Alfredsson has been nominated for the Mark Messier Leadership Award.  Pretty special year for Alfie as he has helped lead a team that looked down and out after a series of injuries, to the 2nd round of the playoffs.  A well deserved honour for the best Captain in the game.  Jonathan Toews and Dustin Brown are the other nominees.

See You Tomorrow, Binghamton

Last night, the Binghamton Senators won their fifth straight playoff game, rallying from a 2-0 deficit to beat the Portland Pirates by a score of 5-3.  The BSens now return home and try to take a strangle hold on the series.

And some loyal SensChirp readers will be there to cheer them on!

I wanted to thank you all for your patience as we put this trip together. It certainly wasn't easy and there were a couple hiccups along the way but I can finally announce that the trip is ON!. We will depart tomorrow morning and be there in plenty of time to cheer on the Boys from Bingo.

Everyone that signed up for the trip will receive an email explaining the details of trip and where you need to be.

And to the rest of you, thanks for your patience this week. I know this trip wasn't an option for a number of you and all the talk about it may have been a little tedious. We will back to some more Ottawa Senators related issues starting next week, including an update on the team's search for a head coach and some draft talk too!

Word is the Buffalo Sabres are extending Lindy Ruff today at 11:00 AM so we can cross him off the list of candidates.

If anyone attending tomorrow's road trip has any questions or concerns, feel free to email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Let's go to Bingo!!

A few quick notes:

1. SC, That VEET commercial on your site just embarrassed me at work. Sound - really?!? Saying that, my hairway-to-ass DOES need some work, so....SOLD.
2. Apparently the pick up locations for tomorrow mornings trip to Bingo are 11am, but SHARP...so, for those getting picked up on St.Laurent (east,) be there at 10:30, those at Museum of Nature (central), there at 10:45, and Barrhaven (are tyhey in the same time zone?!?), 11 - S-H-A-R-P!
The sooner we get to Bingo, the better. We might have VIP, so let's freggin get there.
3. There will be refreshments on the bus. Read between the lines there.
4. WE ARE SITTING ON THE SIDE. Not sure where exactly, but apparently the seats are pretty decent.
5. Bring your USD$$$, BRING YOUR PASSPORT, and bring your Sens jerseys!
6. No drugs, no Danny Downers, no lateness.
7. There will be some excellent swag drawn on the bus. Shold be fun.

Peluso

Cant wait for tomorrow!! Im gonna take a pic of Chirp and post it everywhere! haha..

1.) Should I bring vodka+mix+ice.. or beers?
2.) Will there be coolers available, or bring your own?
3.) For smokers (legal kind), i assume no smoking on the bus, but will there be any stops along the way?
4.) Apparently its gonna be a "white-out" for the game, should I wear my white jersey that has LECLAIRE on it? (ugh, i know), or my RED Karlsson? lol

Can you tell im excited??

we're in Section 3, Rows C-E. About 6-7 rows up and just inside the blue line.

don't sit behind me....my mullet causes a sight-line obstruction.

I think the timing for this trip wasn't good at all. A lot of students, including me, have exams at this time of year. If this trip was scheduled for a little bit later I'm sure a lot more people would have signed up.

Would be nice if someone would take some pictures and videos of the trip so that you can share the experience with others.

Have fun!

I have to disagree. I think the timing was as good as it could have been. It's impossible to tell how far Bingo would have gone in the Playoffs. This might have been their last Saturday night game of the 2010-2011 season.

I blame the universities for scheduling exams during the NHL/AHL playoffs. lol. Shame on them for prioritizing academics over sports.

Have fun guys. I'm expecting some detailed updates on our future prospects.

soooooo

how many playoff games does bingo have to win before people stop using the argument "every team has prospects as good as ours"

They obviously don't, we're beating the pants off them.

Sounds like Kirk Muller (another potential candidate for the Sens job) could end up in Dallas.

Spezza will centre Eberle and Kane today vs Belarus.

Guess they realized how well he plays with young players!

Go Canada!

Considering that our top 2 point-getters are career AHLers (Locke, Potulny), I think that argument is still valid. BUT, we also cannot forget about Rundblad and Cowen.

NOOOOO. Don't like that, re: Muller. Would he not like to coach near his hometown with a team of young players he can mould to his own liking?
Ruff is not available.

So much for him behind the bench here!

What would it take to get Staal out of Pittsburg? The guy deserves to be more then a third line C. I don't know what we could offer up but I'm sure they're looking for some punch on one of the wings.

I just got a phone call from Steve Ryan of Ultimate tours, he told me that the chipping will be lower because were more peoples (around 12to14$) And we are leaving at noone and the pickup (east) is on Gladstone on Elgin.

excellent job senschirp on promoting it and ultimate tours for organizing it. i sent some of my group over and am looking forward to seeing you guys there. I've shared season tickets in Binghamton (even though I live in Ontario) since the team game in and its the BEST arena to watch games in. I'm in 28 A behind the penalty box but I'll come say hi.

the hardcores know you are coming ... they are the most knowledgable pto hockey fans in North America, having had (mostly) AHL for about 40 years and some have been going since day 1.

warning - the game staff don't have much patience so don't be drunk and disorderly or swear too loudly or you'll be out.

I think we're planning to meet you at Dillinger's bar pre-game which is a 5 minute stumble from the arena. my usa cell (after 12 noon saturday) is 570-789-0238 if you need anything or want me to book tables etc it'll be sold out.

That's different than what Peluso said.

So is the noon pickup in Barrhaven with the rest earlier?
Still haven't received my e-mail to confirm anything.
Chirp, which is the correct time? 11:00 or 12:00.

Sandy,

Really no one at this point. No Gryba, Bass injured, no Lessard.

Hopefully he will be more a hinderance than helpful and take a few dumb penalties. And putting the B-Sens on the PP is not high priority for Portland at this point in the series.

Yikes, didn't know Bass was hurt as well as Gryba. That's a lot of muscle out of the lineup.
Do they have the spot to bring back Lessard or is he worth it?

Did you watch the game? The team is freakin good man.

I don't think being on the third line is an indication of talent, it's where you fit. Tavares for example was on the fourth line with Skinner, who were the best players on the ice... whatever line you're on doesn't mean squat when you play for Canada man.

That being said, I thought Spezza relatively struggled today.

GO CANADA
