The Sens will now host the next three games in Binghamton, including Game three on Sunday night.
Binghamton trailed 2-0 through forty minutes but a big third period rally saved the series and took back home ice advantage in this first round series. The Sens got third period goals from Ryan Potulny, Ryan Keller and Kaspars Daugavins.
The BSens should have David Hale back in the line up for Game 3 but Corey Locke is likely to take a little while longer.
It's may not be on the player side of things but there have been some surprising organizational changes from the Sens over the last few days. Phil Legault, long time communications and media guy for the Senators was let go on Wednesday.
They also fired Chad Schella, the team's Director of Player services. It's fair to say that both these moves caught players and media off guard and have left some people close to the organization shaking their heads.
All the best to a couple of loyal members of the Sens family
Go Bingo Go!
(move Butler to first line >.< )
I really dont think so
Weird moves.
One of the best things this site had going for it was that there were no idiots competing for first post ... lets not ruin that
That was my thoughts exactly. Why else would they be let go after such long service?
It would seem odd to fire someone the players thought highly of.
Great game by Bingo. Next 3 games in Binghamton. Let's hope for a sweep.
Listened to the OT of the B-Sens last night. Sounds like some of the guys who didn't play up with the big club are the one's getting the job done.
Agreed on the Kuba thing. No way he gets bought out or buried. Traded for a bag of pucks? Sure if we can. But otherwise he'll be on the team until we can move him. As long as he's gone by the time we're ready to compete (which he will be) then I'm not worried.

This is actually a good move, and can only bring in some fresh life to a department that sorely needs it. Chad Schella was another mainstay, so although I've never heard of him, I can only assume this will also be a breathe of fresh air for the organization. There comes a time when things get stale, and a shakeup is needed. No biggie.

saying?
Basically Silfverberg signed with Brynas some time ago and said he'd play there next season, but is now considering moving to North America.
The article also says he wasn't happy with his playoff performance despite scoring a couple goals. He says he wouldn't mind moving to the "Swedish colony in the Canadian capital".
I got the link from The 6th Sens, great blog.
Wonders of Google Translate
That sounds like a great plan.
Every time I see him I can't help but give credit to the Detroit organization and their scouts for picking Datsyuk so late in the draft.. and I personally consider him the best OVERALL player in the NHL period.

This is one of my absolute favourite hockey plays ever. Pretty much defines heart/grit/effo rt. I'd like to avoid going after players like Hemsky because he doesn't even have a 'trace of Helm'
Man, that clip gives me a hockey nerd boner every time I watch it. Best. PK. Ever.
Detroit is the model franchise in the NHL... there is no doubt about it.
20 straight years being in the playoffs to boot.
I have known Chad for several years and I would have to say that he is one of the most honest and trustworthy people I have ever met. He would not betray any secrets of the team, nor for that matter, the players.
From my experience with Chad, he was nothing but accommodating and understanding with all of the players. He helped them in so many ways to get them integrated into our community. Every player, both past and present, absolutely loved and respected Chad.
IMO, the team is cutting costs and that is what is happening here. Every former players of the SENS who's been traded or moved on, has mentioned how they miss a guy like Chad with their new teams.
Best of luck Chad in your future endeavours.
I can't see firing a guy like this then.. just to cut some salary. Makes no sense to me.
"André had such an amazing pre-season and looked poised to have a breakout year, stepping into a major scoring role at HV, but the back issues ruined that. If he would've been healthy, I'm absolutely sure that Sens fans would be singing his praise right now, and he could even have been considered for the Worlds. If he gets his back issues sorted out, the sky is the limit, really. Absolutely love what André brings in terms of his shot, his vision and his one-on-one-skills"

I cannot wait to see the Rookie tournament in October! Silferberg, Petersson, Rundblad... gonna be sick.
If he was so well liked... why fire him?
On something completely different... what the hell is wrong with the Bruins? They are letting those 'smurfs' run all over them.
The Bruins are a great regular season team... but they can't get it done in the playoffs..
Sad to hear:
1) Confirmation that Hartley can't be swayed from his Swiss league job
2) NJ & Dallas are after Muller
This should be interesting.
If the Sens are considering Muller.. they had better be ready to move quickly. I wonder where he would prefer to go? To a team against the cap with a couple of big start.. a young team on the re-build or Dallas..
Yeah on, what is suppose to be a National Broadcaster, payed with the taxes of all Canadians. But he is so pro Leafs it is disgusting. These broadcasters are supposed to be neutral. He even said a year or so ago... that he hates the Sens.. that was on TV as well.
He's the one who also called the Sens a lousy team.. and that is why Da Costa signed with them so he could get NHL ice time.
Imagine.. saying that on a national broadcast.
I say next year when CBC comes to Ottawa for a game.. if they even bother... we should make sure he feels as uncomfortable as we can.
Make it Hate Healey night.
"Look at him! He's beating out four Bruins for the puck! He's Danish for christ sakes!"
Way to insult an entire country hahahaha!
I'm not one to be too PC, but I thought that was pretty pathetic too. What's next Healey? "PK beat him to the puck; and he's BLACK!" I wish they would finally fire his ass.
Healy (so close a name to another hated man) is a horrific on-air pesonality. He was an asstowards the Sens, but way worse against the Habs. I cut down people a lot when they talk about announcer bias, but I'd be pissed if I were a Habs fan.
I'd be ESPECIALLY pissed if I were a Danish Habs fan.
Something like "...that's what you eat for breakfast"
What a fucking jackass.
So incredibly biased.
Boston is supposed to be a pretty bad ass team, the big bad Bruins. It's the Stanley Cup playoffs, and your playing a team you beat up pretty bad in a couple of games. Even Montreal fan's were saying Boston was going to win. I heard them say, en masse, it on Team 990(even the host).
Now Montreal was on the verge of going up 2-0 on them, and let's be honest, Boston has looked pretty weak so far. I think Healy was saying like "Look, your supposed to be the big bad Bruins, and you're getting pushed around by a rookie danish player". Denmark isn't exactly known for their big strong hockey players. Hell, they aren't even known for their hockey players.
I'm not sure if I buy it myself, but it's the only story I can come up that makes sense in my head. Otherwise, they are pretty stupid comments, and someone from CBC should probably talk to him.
I guess you told us! Well, I guess since Chad must read the site, because his good friend is wishing him well on it. Ya, good luck Chad. It sucks to lose a job, we've all been there. Sorry it didn't work out with the Sens. I'm sure you'll land on your feet, you have a good resume.
ps - I'll lose it I Cameron gets hired. Nothing against him personally, but we need someone with experience behind an NHL bench .... at least I think that's what we've learned over the past few years.
Good job Chirp

Don't forget the rookie camp in late June/early July. You get a look at all of these young men.. even ones from the June draft.
So how high up would the Sens 2nd round pick they got from Boston be (Kelly trade)if Boston gets swept 1st round? Or would Boston have to slot in based on points to the other 1st round exit teams? They were division winners.. does that matter?
I really don't get how that works?
If they fall in based on when they are eliminated...th at would mean Ottawa's 2nd round picks inherited from both Boston & Chicago (if they lose in 1st round as well) would be a lot higher than we first imagined?
:(
Boston's pick will drop if teams below them in the regular season standings make it to their respective conference finals. If Boston gets swept, it won't have any effect on their draft spot.
Chicago's draft pick will only move up one spot Montreal, Buffalo or the Rangers make it to the ECF. 2 spots if 2 of those teams make it.
Draft is only re-ordered once 4 CF teams are determined (bottom 4 picks of draft), finalists (bottom 2 picks), winner (last pick). Everyone then adjusts accordingly based on season standings.
Make sense?
wow, JQS, are you taking Connor's spot for most stupid post of the week? You're defending the worst shit Glenn said. The worst part is you don't SAY anything in you're explanation. We all know what Glenn was TRYING to say, that's part of what makes it so stupid.
Also for the record, I've made a note that you'll be bringing the crazy alon with Connor from now on.
Yes thanks...
Go B-Sens Go.
announcers say 2500 in attendance...we ak.
Any luck with your Sens contact to see if they plan to get a bus trip going.. probably for 2nd round-- if B-Sens make it.
2,500 fans -- in the playoffs they have waited so long to see? That's crazy. It's not like the tickets are expensive. They are under $20 per seat.. and it's on a Sunday.. no excuse.
Yeah Benoit has been good for defenseman on the small side. Him & Derek Smith played great in place of Gonchar & Carkner. Maybe they may send both Cowen & Rundblad to Bingo for some games and have Benoit & Smith play.. you never know.
3-0 bsens
Here is a stream.. not the best though..

Quoting Dorkievicz:
Nope, you just beat us out for that trophy. Congrats. Your comments are so off-base, that I wonder if it's the fake you commenting. You can't possibly be that anal.
Being Danish is a nationality not a race, genius (It's amusing I have to point that out). If he singled out a black Danish hockey player for being 'Danish', he wouldn't be criticize him for being black. You are completely missing the point, and it's laughable.
It's even more comical consider I hate Glen Healy myself. I made a late night Saturday post, I was in no was serious, or confrontational . I even said somebody at CBC should probably talk to him. 'Classic' comment doesn't necessarily mean I thought is was 'good' (Once again, amusing I have to point that out). You're arguing for the sake of arguing.
I'll keep my eye out for more of your anal ramblings. Good luck
Clearly we're BOTH anal with your anal response to my anal post. I know the difference between race and nationality and you clearly missed my point about sweeping generalizations . My point would have been the same if it were about gender and a girl were playing for the Leafs.
Would it have flied if Healey said "I mean, he's RUSSIAN! What is that, a salad dressing?" I bet a lot of our fans would be pissed if he said, "Da Costa? I mean, he's FRENCH [stupid remark about the French here]!"
It's less about being politically correct/anal/ni tpicky than it is endemic of his bias and detestable on-air personality.
A good commentator, say a Ron McLean, would probably comment on a small increase of Denmark's hockey player output with Guys like Eller, Hansen and Regin. He'd be impressed at anyone from similar circumstances, being from s small country where hockey isn't popular.
I wonder if Healey would ever say, "He got scored on by VANEK? That guy is Austrian!" or "Kopitar? I would have never let a Slovenian score on me!"
There are a lot of countries who have yet to have a player in the NHL. Will he get into shit if an Egyptian, Israeli or a Japanese person gets into the NHL and he says the same type of thing? Me thinks much more.
PS there's no offence intended in this post or the last one (maybe the first one though!). I truly want your opinion as opposed to telling me what I don't understand.
Maybe if his Danish remark were actually funny I'd be happier.
First off, I respond to comments directed at me the way I was spoken too. I have no problem doing it, and will continue doing it.
If Vanek or Kopitar, two gifted offensive players, were out muscling, and coming away from 5 Bruin players with the puck (like Eller did). I'm sure a guy like Healy might make the same comment.
I don't think Healy was saying they (Danes) aren't good players, or are somehow inferior human beings in general. He was inferring that historically they aren't tough, strong gritty hockey players, and that Boston needs to compete a little harder. Of course, I may be wrong, which is why I said I wasn't sure if I bought it.
