Chirp posts (typically) a single blog per day. Yet, I personally am good for at the very least, 10 site visits per day. I am very sure that I do not stand alone in this. Although I very seldom post/participate in the comments section, I read it obsessively and consider the views and opinions of the intelligent hockey posters we have on SensChirp when forming my own opinions. That is what separates us from other blogs out there. We are a solid group of knowledgeable hockey people, and although we sometimes disagree, we are able to remain self-mediated (usually) and (again, usually) remain right on topic.
This is a win-lose situation for Yost. Win in that he does not have to adjust to a single-team website, potentially losing some valuable numbers, along with (possibly) some cash. Lose, however, in that he misses out on the opportunity to be appreciated by the best fan base the NHL has to offer. He loses the opportunity to blog for a group of intelligent hockey people, who could offer him insights he has never had the opportunity to witness where he currently blogs. He loses the opportunity to instantaneously and dramatically improve his credibility by leaving a site of pure speculation. He loses the opportunity to be adequately appreciated for what he does.
Whether Yost reconsiders in the future or not, it doesn’t change how invaluable this site is to all of us, particularly with the off-season approaching. I for one will be starving for hockey news, and may even succumb to the insatiable appetite that all of us have and pay Yost a visit. What I won’t do, however, is stop visiting SENSCHIRP every single time the opportunity arises. I will continue my sporadic posting in the comments and forum, and I will continue to use the hockey intelligence that all of you possess to make myself appear much more hockey intelligent than I am.
The only person that suffers in Yost not coming to SensChirp is Yost. We at SensChirp still have the pick of the litter with regards to bloggers, and the format is pretty unbeatable. Yost or no Yost, SensChirp is still SensChirp. With or without him, we will continue to thrive as a hockey community.
GO SENS GO!
Game Two of the opening round of the AHL playoffs goes tonight in Manchester. Binghamton dropped the first game by a score of 2-1 and will be looking for the split tonight. The Sens will again be without top scorer Corey Locke but they are still hoping he can return later in the series.
All the action is live on the Team 1200 starting at 7:00 PM.
Harry.
Also great Chirp of the Week. We need more of those too.
Harry.
Yea that's my take to. Guy is a good writer and deserves the audience he has.
That's why I asked.
I'm all for disagreeing with people and I'm all for letting people know that you don't agree with them. I wish it wouldn't descend to playground level as often as it does but that's where some people on this site clearly reside.
It might not be cool to advertise a different site on here but I know that there are readers of both on here and I know that chirp is already aware of sensunderground .com. The reason I'm bringing this up is that there is a guy on there who regularly posts info and thoughts on the Bingo players as he is a regular spectator. It's worth checking out for that and a lot of other things.
Yost could have been a great addition, but maybe it's a blessing in disguise, that he decided to stay at that other site, that I never visit.
SensChirp is the Ottawa Senators true pulse, and it has
many knowledgeable posters to add to this blog !
Hope all of you have a great summer, and we look forward to the June24-25 draft with great anticipation !!
But I think it is time now to just move on. That is in the past. We are a wonderful fan base here and I think we deserve the pat on the back from the anonymous Chirp of the Weeker.

This exactly.. The guy just loves talking sports, he is fun to read and knows his stuff.. Not everyone needs to like him or his writing, to each their own..
Go Sens Go
What about that young guy from Sweden - Zibanj(sp?). He seems to be climbing up the draft order?
I know it's not a HUGE deal, but often we have a a few windows of redundant quotes when a line or even a few words would do.
Much obliged!
Go Vancouver & Nashville, (only in the first rounds)
We'd have to draft him with out 6th overall pick, or move up significantly with our Nashville pick. It'd be a pretty bold move by ol' Bryan Murray, but not out of the question.
By all accounts Mika Zibanejad is having an extremely solid Under 18 tournament and, like you said, is skyrocketing up the rankings. Definitely a darkhorse.
Do we want another Swede?
But he also mentioned possibly Sens should consider trading Rundblad since his stock is so high or Cowen?
Why would the Sens trade one of the D prospects that they figure will form part of a very good young defense in a few years? You re-build from the net out, you don't trade them away.
Mark Stone has had a great year in the WHL. 106 pts in 71 games & 10 pts in 6 games in the playoffs. I don't think he is AHL eligible next season so does he stand a chance of pushing for a spot in the Sens lineup or go back to Brandon?
Stone was drafted in round 6 so you would think Sens could find a decent player @ 6th overall.
Not sure re: wanting another Swede.. but if he is the BPA at whatever spot it is, why not?
Just another example of why Travis Yost is an idiot... I wonder if he thinks Rundblad is a 'giraffe on skates' too?
I was just putting the question out there. I'd have no problem with it. Swedes are awesome!
He would have to end up pretty high on his potential to crack a top 6 spot. He just doesnt have the speed or the offensive talent.
Dont get me wrong, I would to take him with our Nashville pick because you are certainly getting a great third line center who can put up points, and maybe even a second line center. But, to take him ahead of guys like Sven Bartschi, Brandon Saad, and even Matt Puempel seems silly to me...
Bob MacKenzie has Zibanejad rated as his 10th best prospect, so it's not outrageous to suggest he couldn't crack the top 6. However, nobody outright said that he would.
You don't think Mika Zibanejad has a good chance to be a top 6 forward in the NHL? Pretty bold comment.
my guess is probably not. And mike fisher did everything else right but still seemed overcast as a second line center.
could be wrong, but thats how I see Zibanejad turning out
Oh please Murry, don't even CONSIDER trading Rundblad. I'd be more apt to seeing Cowen go, but even then I like the stock of young D we have in our system. Rundblad just took D of the year in the Swedish Elite league, 3rd in overall scoring.
In my Eyes, one of the best moves Murry made since joining the Sens organization. That and drafting Karlsson. Those two together on the same line in 2 years time, killer!!!
Mad
I haven't seen the kid play enough to make anywhere near that sort of determination, and I doubt you have either. Why compare him to Mike Fisher? That just seems pretty random.
yaaaaa... Maybe if it was Nashville's 3rd-round pick.... and we got a 2nd back...
Chirp, I'm glad you don't post Whack-as-hell trade scenarios. keep it up.
The point in comparing him to fisher was that those numbers are pretty similar to fisher's and fisher played a great defensive and physical game. Therefore, even if Zibanejad plays very well defensively (which he supposedly does) and hits, he still wont be any further ahead of fisher (a great 3rd line center) unless he can get more points
If Wiercioch is not packaged this off season for one of:
A) moving up in the draft
B) rights to Zach Parise, or
C) Rights to Devon Setoguchi,
He will most likely start the season in Ottawa, ahead of Cowen.
JQS - nice tight list - thanks
Let's just assume I'm going along with you for the ride...
But Fisher is a great skater with no hands. Zibanejad 'may' not be the greatest skater (I have grown to distrust scouting reports in this area), but he has good hands. He has size, but probably not the most physical player in the world.
See... two completely different players. But you're entitled to your opinion, only time will tell.
Im not trying to compare the two, just an example to point out that unless he can produce offensively, no dice on the top 6.
I fully agree that much of the stuff we read online is crap, but in the end, if im drafting in the top 10, im looking for the guy who is most likely to turn into the top line forward or top pairing D. Not the safe pick that might become a 2nd liner.
If the online info and random sites are wrong and he does have the potential to score points, then with his other attributes, i would gladly take him top 10
I like what both guys bring to me as a reader, and both provide readers with different things. Nobody can take away from Chirp what he's built with concerns to an intelligent blogger community that cares deeply about the Sens. Yost has a bit more speculative depth, but could he do what Chirp has done here? I have my doubts.
The only difference for me in the end is that I'm still 5-6 clicks away from my two favourite sources for all things Sens.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it...goes for both parties in this particular instance.
Let it be!
Gee they must have heard you..
3 - 2 for BINGO half way through the third period.
Come on boys.. put them away.

THe boyz came through in OT. Derek Grant with the winner.
