While the Sens season may have ended at the NHL level, the fun is just getting started for the AHL affiliate.
A number of NHL regulars will suit up for Bingo including the likes of Bobby Butler, Colin Greening and Erik Condra. Should be interesting to see how those guys respond in the pressure of playoffs. Binghamton is expected to make some serious noise in this year's playoffs.
Unfortunately it looks like they will be without leading scorer and league MVP Corey Locke for Game 1. He has been nursing a shoulder injury the last little while and will not be in the line up when the Sens open their series with the Monarchs. Here is a look at how the forwards are expected to line up.
Wick-O'Brien-Condra
Daugavins-Potulny-Keller
Greening-Smith-Butler
Dziurzynski-Bass-Grant
While our focus will shift to the AHL playoffs a little bit, I will try to make sure I continue with any relevant updates about the NHL team.
Early indications are Bryan Murray will try to move up from the 6th spot. In an interview on the Team1200 he mentioned the possibility of moving up to three but I was told last night that they have already held preliminary (very preliminary) talks with the Avalanche about the second overall pick.
No mention of the SEL finals? I know Skelleftea is up against the wall trailing 3-1 in the series, but I hope they can pull a win out of the bag and prolong the series. If only they had a good goalie behind them, the series would surely be different.
Puck drops under 3 hours from now.
Hoping for some Rundblad magic!

Pft, he has the Sens picking Larsson at 6th! Like c'mon, this guy is a top 2 pick.
The missed high sticks in the Tampa game really hurt Tampa from getting any momentum, it's beyond me how some of those were missed.
The Yotes looked like they didn't belong in the same league as Detroit last night.
The Rangers game, Lundqvist played out of his mind or that could have been very lopsided.
Nashville proved that they're the real deal, but how different would that gave have been with Hiller in net
And only 2 first period goals by the Canucks?
Anaheim can't compete without Hiller, the NY-WSH game wasn't very fluid, and the Tampa game wasn't really that good either.
Playoffs definitely aren't as fun to watch if your team isn't in it ;(
The more I see/ read about Landeskog, the more I'm hopeful Murray can trade up and grab him. He seems like the kind of player you win championships with.
Quoting jasonontheoldsenschirp:
I couldn't believe Button has Larsson going at 6th either. It just dosen't seem like the guy knows what he's talking about. Didn't he have Ottawa selecting Larsson earlier in the season when the SENS were 29th? I think his rationale was that we didn't have any blue chip prospects on the backend. Yikes
Is Button the old guy with the white hair?
Landeskog would be nice, but Huburdeau/Coutu rier/Strome are probably more likely, and I wouldn't be disappointed with any of those picks.
Button's mock drafts have been wonky all season. The only thing I can say is that I agree with his #1-2 picks. If Ottawa DOES move up to 2nd via Colarado, I hope we do the sane thing and pick Huberdeau, the kid is just too good.
game winning goal in overtime last night.
thats good for 19 pts in 8 playoff games.
With Corey Locke back in the line up I would say the minisens will do just fine. Havin thoughs regulars done for the playoffs will be great for them too. It will be a team full of confidence. They have three great scoring lines, but what are the d's like?
They are because the other lines had played together for longer. By the end of the first round we will have a greater idea of the actual line ups
Wow dude! All I knew was they lost out early.. So I guess the team didnt play so well.
I said leave out storm and go with Huberdeau. Still think in the long run he will be better then Landeskog.
Seriously you need to get a life man.
1st round of WHL Playoffs
RNH gets 9 points 4g/5a vs. a weak seed. RNH's team was 48-16 and their opponent was 31-34. In round two vs a team who was 46-18 RNH has got zero points -3 in 4 games. RNH's team is down 3-1 to a team of similar ability and has 3 goals total in the series.
1st round of OHL Playoffs
Landeskog gets 10 points 7 games 6g/4a vs. a seed ranked similarly to his team. Landeskog's team was 38-21 the team they faced was 36-26.
So when Landeskog faced a team of similar ability in the playoffs his GPG went up and his PPG increased slightly. When RNH faced a team of similar ability to his squad he's gotten completely shut down and shut out. Yet he's the prospect everyone more or less thinks will go #1. Yet you think Landeskog had a bad playoffs? Embarrassing.
It's ok to disagree with someone but you seem to bring it to the level of extreme douchebagery.
excellent use of the word douchebagery there - good to see you raising your game for the playoffs, we need more people like you in the organisation.
Just ignore him and his tirades and maybe he will eventually go away
Chirp, do you know how long Corey Locke is out? Is he back at all this series?
If he is, does he play with Butler & Greening and they move to 1st line? Did they not play as a line earlier in the season?
Also heard today, Braydon Schenn is in the lineup for Manchester -- along with Tyler Toffoli.
In regards to moving up -- if they could get that 2nd overall pick that would be great.. question is what and who do they have to give up to get it? Can we speculate?
You know old Burkie will be looking hard to move up. His 1st round picks are later than the Sens.. but he also has 12 picks this draft. But it may be better for the Avs to deal with the Sens as Avs would more down only 4 spots -- not 20+
The sad thing is he's probably some fuckin' nerd living in his mom's basement in Kanata and wouldn't have the grapefruits to say half the shit he does online to someone in person but that's the way she goes....
Anyways, I digress....LET' S GO BINGO!
Anyone posting on internet hockey blogs isn't the world's premier hockey mind. We don't watch hundreds of prospects play on a regular basis. We see some highlights and read some hype and it snowballs.
The only thing Murray could do on draft day that would anger me is trade high picks for old, previously decent players. Can't see that happening. I trust him and our scouts more than some random person's internet posts, a columnist's article or rankings.
Hearing people say "We have to move up to grab So-and-so" or "If we don't take So-and-so with the 6th, Murray is an idiot" is silly.
HEY!
Why'd you have to pick on KANATA?!
:cP
Opinions are never right nor wrong.. everybody has a different one. Speculation is neither right nor wrong. Hoping for one player, even if out of reach, is not wrong either. It's nothing more than wishful thinking.
If someone's opinion is different from yours... so what?
I for one really enjoy this site. I enjoy Chirps' blogs and other people's comments. Some of you are very knowledgeable (sp?) and some of you are very funny and give me a good laugh. There is certainly nothing wrong with that.
If the B-Sens go on a long run in the playoffs it will definitely help the development of those young players coming to Ottawa next year. I will listen intently to every game I can.
Still really want Landeskog, although Huberdeau, Strome or Couturier would be stellar as well. I never watched Huberdeau, so I always thought his numbers might just be inflated by playing on a stacked team. Apparently he is the real deal though.
Just wanted to say I agree with TheTyrantWee about Landeskog, and he clearly explained his points about his behaviour. Doesn't make it pleasant, but he's right.

Might as well start to get used to the kid ;)
Captaining a sports team became meaningless the moment your team was no longer together.
All that being said, use of the word 'retard', whether you care about how it appears or not, is inappropriate.
Sure, you're hiding behind the anonymity of the internet and it doesn't behoove you to be polite. That's your prerogative. But we're all entitled to think you're a dick.
There are lots of university grads who are horrible people, and there are tons of high school dropouts who aren't. All your degree proves is that you faked an education for four years.
So I get the fact that you think we're all idiots. And you get the fact that we all think you're an idiot, but don't act like it doesn't bug you, because if it didn't you wouldn't lower yourself to responding to comments like this.
Enough about that. Did anyone get to see the Bingo game? How did the team look? Any standouts or anyone that did not look all that strong?
Wow so much happend while I was gone.... lets not judge the poor childman(TheTyr antWee) for he is just being who he really is. On a daytoday base he has to lie when being nice or good to another. Sir embrace yourself and who you really are. Don't let us stop you. put us down throw a bottle or two.
Some people are just hopeless. Not life for if there is life there is love AND HOCKEY!
well said, RESPECT.
Well put, Black Terror. I 100% agree.
-That's what you call putting a cork in it(TheTyrantWee )!
@ Captain Alfie,
Must be from the fans of teams, who did not make the playoffs, excluding our team the Ottawa Senators, who have
nothing else to write hom about !!
Certainly we can come up with a way to illustrate how stupid somebody's opinion is, without actually calling that person stupid, or moronic.
I think 90% of what Tyrant says is dumb as hellen keller, but do i think Tyrant is dumb? not really.
lets just leave the personal attacks out of this, and I think everyone can agree this site will be much more fun..
BTW Tyrant: PPG = Powerplay goal. P/G = points per game
Quoting TheTyrantWee:
This made me laugh, saying to leave personal attacks out of this yet calls Hellen Keller stupid. No she was stupid just had many issues. Either way I understand what your trying to say and agree just avoid using people as comaprisons (even though they are long gone).
That's odd. Wasn't Legault the 'media' guy? I don't know who Schella was...
Looks like they are really cleaning house. But why get rid of a guy the players liked? It does not make sense.
What made me laugh is neither of you knew how to spell Helen Keller.
What makes me laugh is "dumb" in the Helen Keller context means being unable to speak - a side effect of being deaf (and she was also blind). So this was a two-different-k inds-of-dumb joke.
Helen overcame her dumb-ness and eventually learned to speak. BUt here on the lovely old Internet, a lot of people ask if she was "dumb" and get a lot of "dumb" responses like this:
no, she was really smart. when she was born she was a prefect healthy child but when she grew to be 19 months of age she became very ill. her illness left her blind and as well left her deaf too, but like all of us. she could read and write and talk. (sign). so the question is a no she is very smart.
I think a lot of people forget that the Q is a scoring league. In the past it has not translated to the NHL as well as some of the other leagues, though I know it is getting better. It's really surprised me to read how many people think this Huberdeau kid has made it into the top 3. I personally just don't see how he gets drafted ahead of RNH, Larsson and Landeskog. Short of a trade or a surprise pick, at this point I think the sens will be left with whoever hasn't been picked between Couturier, Strome and Huberdeau.
