Bit of a surprise starter for the Sabres as they opted to go with Jhonas Enroth over Ryan Miller. Apparently Lindy Ruff had planned to go with Enroth before the weekend started but after a loss against the Leafs last night, many thought Miller would get the nod.
If you're wondering why there was so much scoring tonight, it almost certainly had something to do with me only needing an under to win my Proline.
The Senators were sloppy defensively in this game and the Sabres made them pay for it. Anderson was chased after four goals on 17 shots but Curtis McElhinney didn't really fare much better. Ottawa just made too many mistakes in their own end.
Jason Spezza single-handedly kept the Senators in the game. He was far and away the best player on the ice for Ottawa and racked up four points, including a pair of goals. He registered five shots on goal and was 64% on the draws.
Despite missing significant time due to injury, Spezza is now just one point back of Erik Karlsson for the team lead in points.
Tonight's loss prevents the Sens from passing the Avs in the standings and is a punch in the gut to the Leafs playoff chances. Important to find the positives this time of year.
Watching on PVR delay. He is so shifty and always seems to be in the right place on the ice.
win-win tonight for sens fans today, and of particular win for me have Spezz in the Hockey Fantasy ;)
At first I read that as "He is so shitty"
15 points in his last five games.
Sorry about the outcome but things just didn't go our way today, with the passing of a former buffalo sabre Rick Martin. The Hockey gods seemed to give the sabres wings as they were able walk away with a convincing victory.
The sabres were the better team tonight. Fair enough.
I do love Karlsson but I really want Spezza to end up at the top of our stats for the year. Goals and points.
On Clouston staying: Ok, I'm cool with that. As long as we can replace both his assistant coaches.
I cant believe how much of a nose dive the Avs have taken since the all star break.. we may end up with the 3rd overall..
Very impressed with RNH but I don't think Sens can get him without winning the lottery. I think he is separating himself from the pack as consensus #1.
-3
I would almost prefer it if that player doesn't play in the NHL next year.
Agree. Letting the pick develop saves free agency years and allows that player to excell in junior, play for the world team (hopefully), and have some success on his junior team rather than struggle against men on a weak Sens team. This should be a 2-3 year plan.
I'd be surprised if Edmonton doesn't take larsson or landeskog. They have no absolute defensive prospects other than tuebert. And already have hall to score the goals need a defensive forward like landeskog. So ya I'd be surprised to see Edmonton take RNH we need to draft before Colorado tho. Come on Elliot-shutouts for the rest of the season!
Regular reader here.
Love the new site and layout - you do great work.
One suggestion: I wish there were more than 10 comments per page, but if not, when I click the next page (the 2 or 3 or 4 at the bottom of the ten comments), it should take me to the top of the next 10 comments rather than leave me at the bottom.
In other words, after reading comment #10 and clicking the next page number, I should see #11 rather than #20.
All in all though, great work.
Great game tonight for Spez, for Leafs haters, and for the draft.
2. Colorado - Larsson
3. Ottawa - Landeskog
That's how I see it going down unless we actually start losing a bunch of games. Colorado might even pick first overall in which case I still think they choose Larsson. They've got Stastny-Duchene down the middle as their 1-2 punch for the next decade so I doubt they'd choose RNH #1.
Anderson is bound to lose some, we don't want him to steal the game every night "THIS YEAR", then we'd have to pay him too much.
I saw one goal where Lee Clearly took who should have been Phillips man and left his own man unattended to score, so lets not go around having a pity fest for Lee. He made his mistakes as well.
Spezza FTW!
Go Sens
Would that work or is there a loop hole to it that I'm missing?
Ah that's a good idea too. I like that
He still has it. Added it the other day. I guess the display pictures are kinda small in this comment section.
