  • Game Day- Pittsburgh @ Ottawa Game 4

Every game the Sens play from here on out could appropriately be labelled the biggest game of their season.

The Ottawa Senators look to build off an electrifying win on Sunday night as they play Game 4 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Pittsburgh Penguins. After a two day break, the Senators will be looking to use a raucous crowd at Scotiabank Place to draw even before heading back to Pittsburgh for Game 5 on Friday night.

Scoreboard Watching

With the Senators having yet another Saturday night off, Ottawa fans are forced to scoreboard watch with less that 15 games to go in the NHL's season.

Coming into tonight's action, the Senators sit 29th in the NHL, four points clear of the last place Oilers.

A few games of notes tonight including the Panthers, Avalanche and Islanders all in action. The Islanders paid the Devils a visit and dropped a 3-2 decision but did pick up a single point.

The Panthers scored a big overtime win over the Tampa Bay Lightning and moved to 65 points on the season, six clear of the Sens. Unfortunately for Ottawa fans, the Colorado Avalanche continue to play absolutely terrible hockey. They lost to the Predators 4-2 and are in an ugly tailspin right now.

Ottawa is back in action tomorrow evening when they visit the Sabres for a 5:00 PM start.

Here is how the bottom five look after tonight's action.

Florida 69 28 32 9 65

NY Islanders 70 27 32 11 65

Colorado 68 26 34 8 60

Ottawa 68 25 34 9 59

Edmonton 69 23 37 9 55

I don't want a top 5 pick, I want a top 4. If they really feel strome is better than whoever is still on the board that is fine. I want the opportunity to draft one of the "four".

Trading up into the 8ish spot to get huberdeau (sp?) Would be ideal as well.

I think it is kind of seen as this:

RNH/landeskog/larsson/cotourier in the one group
Murphy/strome/hamilton
Huberdeau/biggs
About 6 other prospects
About 45 prospects

In terms of groupings for "elite" levels for prospects.

Avs are hanging around tonight. Hoping for a big third period from them.

It looks as though my dream of drafting Adam Larsson is all shot to hell so i guess it's time to focus on the forwards. The worst case scenerio right now is finishing fifth from the bottom and having one of the teams behind us win the Lottery knocking us down to sixth pick. That would really suck. I hope Huberdeau is really good if that happens.

Colorado looked at the Senators drop in the standings and had a big meeting to discover why. Upon discovery of our 'secret'.... the traded to obtain him. Brian Elliott.

Florida is the only team we play that we are 'chasing', I think we will be able to beat them but we won't catch Edmonton and with B.E. a member of the Avalanche now...I think we will be picking third. At best.

Of course it can all change in the draft lottery.

Yea they found the secret alright!! Elliot why can't you not suck. Avs will wined up being 29th who will probably draft either RNH or Landeskog before we do ooooo... boy. Never thought I would say this but I hate that Sens decided to start winning.

Brian Elliott didn't even play tonight.

Colorado is just a crappy team - lots of losses before the goalie trade.

As long as we are in the bottom three, things are still good. Larsson, RNH, and Landeskog seem to all have very good chances of being the top player to come out of this draft.

Things get a little worse if we pick later than that. Couturier and Strome are by no means slouches, but I see them as having a lot more risk than the top 3.

Though falling to fourth (minus terrible lottery outcomes) would mean catching either the islanders or panthers who both seem to be doing ok right now

I am hoping thay either NYI keeps winning or Florida picks it up a bit so we will be no worse than third, recognizing that bad lottery luck could knock us to fourth. I believe we will be drafting Strome. I don`t think there will be an attempt to trade up for another top 10 as there are several good players in the 12-18 range where we should be.

Just got around to really looking at the new site, things look pretty good over here. Would like it if popout comments showed more comments per page though.

I'm a fan of this whole winning thing, but the AVS gotta start showing some life here. We want to be in the running for Landeskog.

I do think we're going to finish 3rd last, unless Colorado finally starts playing like the did at the beginning of the season.

I'm not overly worried if we have to pick behind Edmonton and Colorado as I think the Oilers will take Larsson and Colorado will take Landeskog (with Duchene and Stastny already at centre). But after taking in Red Deer's game tonight in which they scored 5 goals all of them Ryan Nugent-Hopkins contributed to (3g,2a), I really would sleep easier if Colorado were picking behind us.

Did some navigating on your other areas in the new site, and am truly impressed with all the new features you have added, including Yost !!

Have 2 questions about my particular differences in posting on SensChirp .
1- Have an icon where I can edit or change script in original post, and I like this feature.

2- My particular post does not indicate a Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down feature ?? Is it because I did not want this feature ??

Awaiting your responsees !!

I wouldn't mind if Colorado fell below us in the standings. Although I want the Sens to get the best draft pick possible this year, I think the long-term repurcussions of Ottawa winning is much more positive. On the other hand, colorado is raising a bunch of losers.
