Sens Sign Mark Borowiecki

Earlier today, the Ottawa Senators announced the signing of defenceman Mark Borowiecki to a two year, entry level contract.

Borowiecki, an Ottawa native, was drafted by the Sens in 2008 at 139th overall. He has spent the last three seasons at Clarkson University where he racked up 32 points in 99 career games. At 6'1, 205 pounds Borowiecki is a defensively responsible player that should provide some depth to the AHL team down the stretch.

He will finish up the season in Binghamton on an amateur tryout agreement.

Looks like they're really stocking the B'sens for a playoff run.

most of these signings are just guys finishing up their collegiate career.

nice to hear the names popping up though after watching them on the prospects report.

These signings and games for the young guys turning pro are very important especially if Binghamton goes on to the playoffs. It can mean as much as a full year of a players development!

Note: It's the Carey Price formula.

It's strange that both Mark Borowiecki and Derek Grant have left College early.

Standard signings. This is just the standard last couple months of the season where the team has to make some of those tough decisions about who they want included in their 50 contract maximum. If you don't sign people you lose their rights so you have to make tough choices about the players you drafted 2-3 years ago and which ones have the most potential for NHL careers.

What is really weird is that I talked to him on facebook like 2 days ago and he was telling me he still had a year left at Clarkson and he was really excited for it. Although I told him that if he is at camp next year and Kuba is still here he needs to scrap him for me!

P.S. Chirp the site looks great!!!

I like Murray's strategy of restocking after the big purge.

I made the drive up today from Ottawa, and passed the Niagara IceDogs bus on the way...Made me think to check the roster, and Chirp, you and I may be taking in the same game tonight!

It's a tough call though, take the opportunity to watch the Sens in GLORIOUS HD while I can, or take in a game that I can use to watch some potential future Senators...

Decisions, decisions.

Sick site Chirp! I've been on the Sportsnet forums and HFBoards in the past, but not regularly. I hope to make my presence here more often.

Great site man

I played in Smiths Falls with Mark. Honestly, couldn't have a better kid in the organization. His work ethic is second to none, and combine that with his skill and he is a much brighter prospect than maybe many people think. I know the Senators have told our old coach that they are really high on him so hopefully he can go to Bingo and have a good showing for the remainder of the season. This is good news Sens fans, another quality prospect in the stable.

First off want to say love the new site Chirp, you have done a great job on the site and recruiting Yost. On to the comment, I have liked what Murray has done in the draft over the years, another great player along with Derek Grant. Murry is turning into David Polie when it comes to drafting. Very excited to see what he gets us this draft.

As someone living in Potsdam I've had plenty of opportunity to watch him play. At the beginning of this year he was named captain and has led the team admirably.
Sensfans this is a great character guy who is very responsible defensively, not the biggest hitter but a solid d-man who isn't afraid to drop em if he needs too. However don't expect to see him anytime considering the quality of ourdefensive prospects. All in all a good move by the organization he's well loved by the knights faithful who will miss him.

You know what when i'm feeling down on the team i go see that Rundblad highlight package and i know the future is bright. Hey Strome 2 goals tonight. When might be able to slip a few spots and just grab him first and then Huberdeau with the later pick. That would be great.

I believe the big reason for the signing or Boroweicki is that if they don't sign him soon, he could go back in the draft, because he was drafted in 2008.
