  • Welcome to the Canadian Tire Centre

The Ottawa Senators have called a press conference for 10:00 AM this morning where it is expected they’ll announce a new partner and a name for the building once known as Scotiabank Place.

And while the reports have yet to be “confirmed”, some good detective work by a couple SensChirp readers leads us to believe the new sponsor is Canadian Tire and the building will be renamed The Canadian Tire Centre.  Plenty of reaction to the new name around these parts yesterday but the reality is it’s a good Canadian company now associated with the Ottawa Senators brand.

BSens Host Admirals

After the NHL's CBA talks took an ugly turn on Friday, there is suddenly an overwhelming feeling that the Binghamton Senators could become the focus of fans of the Ottawa Senators.

That starts tonight when the BSens host the Norfolk Admirals. Tonight marks the the third match up between the two teams, who split the two previous contests last Friday and Saturday night. Puck drop is scheduled for just after 7:00 PM.

Should be a fun night at the Broome County Veteran Memorials Coliseum as a bus full of 50 fans from Ottawa made the trip down to cheer on the BSens.

Luke Richardson's group could use a boost as they've lost back to back games, including an ugly 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Penguins on Thursday night.  Beyond the lift they should get from the Ottawa fans that made the trip, the BSens are also expecting to have Mark Stone back in the line up for this one.

Tonight's game is available on the Team 1200 and as always, keep an eye on the comment section for a stream.

  • On the CBA front, Steve Fehr and Bill Daly are expected to connect at some point tonight to determine when negotiations should resume. After a heated exchange on Friday, here's hoping the two sides have taken some time to cool off and can get thins back on track this weekend.

If anyone made the trip down and is on the site tonight, would love to hear how things are going. How's the atmosphere? How was the trip down?

Disappointed I couldn't make it but it sounds like a great crew is down there to support the BSens!

Robin Lehner proving once again why he is our best prospect and one of the future NHL stars in net.

Jakub Silfverberg with another couple points tonight, he is slowly getting use to the North American game and is going to explode here soon with many multi point games lol

Lehner played OK tonight. He made a few great saves but at the same time left alot of pucks on the ice with the glove and not picking up rebounds. He got into it with Smith-Pelly creating a PP for Norfolk. Even Benoit went over and told him to knock it off.

Zibby, Silverburg and Petterson played extremely solid. Grant played outstanding too.

Wiercoch needs to bulk up or he will never make the NHL. Boro had a great win in his fight. Gryba is upset he is not back yet.

I know I will get thumbs down but I am just giving my opinion.

I watched the game, Lehner was great, especially with one save, it was a wrap around and he got his leg over and somehow kept it out on the goal line

I hope the Silferberg doubters are starting to shut their mouths...kid will be right in the running for the Calder cup I guarantee it.

I am just hoping enough people still haven't heard of him to snag him in the 2nd round of my prospect pool

i dont see how one player could be in the running for the team trophy awarded to the champion of the AHL playoffs (calder cup)

or do you mean silfverberg will be in the running for the calder memorial trophy awarded to the rookie of the year in the NHL

They're quiet so far today but the big mouths with small agenda and tiny brains will be back as soon as SILF-VER-BERG has one bad shift

Is Cowen seriously injured? He hasn't been back since the 3rd game of the season... The B-Sens certainly are not the same without him back there

Hes injured, but their also taking extra precautions because the sens organization dont want a lingering injury to get worse if the lockout ends soon

I love the way Stone plays - it translates well to the NHL. I have found that Wiorcioch - with maybe the exception of Benoit - has been the Baby Sens best D-man. I can see him playing in the NHL shortly - I like his game much better than Boro's so far(IMO).

Matt Puempel is absolutely on fire. Two more goals tonight. All the kid does is score.

Should contend for the OHL scoring title. Kid's a gem.

Should get selected for WJC at this point in my opinion.

Hopefully the coach gives him a top 6 role tomorrow, with a competent center. Last game he was playing third line, with crappy players.

I also find it ironic, that a canadian guy like TSN's Bob Mckenzie tweet's 9 minutes ago;

"Attending Kitch at Osh (OHL) tonite. Can tell CBJ fans Boone Jenner is playing dominant hockey. ANA fans, John Gibson is top-notch goalie."

By that time I'm sure he aleady had seen Puempel score 2 goals. He resorts to giving a shout out to Columbus and Anaheim fans about their prospects game lol.

I agree, he could do with a better C, but Matt needs to continue to create himself. He has the ability.

And for those who've thrown Puempel under the bus back in the day...

So he's not Heatley or at least just not yet but has that scoring touch, leading his team in goals and points. So who better than Spezza to compliment each other at LW & C respectively?
