After an impressive training camp, including three goals in the preseason, Jakob Silfverberg will begin the season in the team’s top six. Head Coach Paul MacLean liked what he saw from Silfverberg in the preseason and with the preseason injury to Peter Regin, the young Swede was the obvious choice.
Here is how the Sens were lined up at the morning skate in Montreal.
Michalek-Spezza-Silfverberg
Latendresse-Turris-Alfredsson
Greening-Smith-Neil
Daugavins-O’Brien-Condra
When Marc Methot was acquired in an off season deal that sent Nick Foligno to Columbus, the belief is he would make an ideal partner for Erik Karlsson. That is exactly where Methot will start his career with the Ottawa Senators. Here is how the Sens D-pairings are expected to look.
Methot-Karlsson
Cowen-Gonchar
Borowiecki-Phillips
No surprise in goal as Craig Anderson gets the nod for the visiting Senators. Ben Bishop will dress as his back up. Carey Price starts for the Canadiens.
GO SENS GO!
Oh wait…
So bitter, but so well played. Nicely done!
Sad truth is that I'm so interested in seeing some prospects play in the AHL, that honestly don't care too much about these greedy bastards right now.
I'm not gonna lie, if the NHL comes back, I will start watching it again, but I can't help but think that this lockout will somewhat hurt the league. I know very few people that are anxiously waiting for them to resolve this...most people I know just canceled their tv programming and have found other hobbies (playing more at local rink, watching other leagues, etc...).
I can't help but feel bad for those that it affects the most (average people working concessions, analysts, etc...). I work in a union environment and when these talks happens it just sickens me (too many games played when everyone knows what is the right thing to do).
I might be the minority, but that is my point of view.
Had him in there originally but Boro just outworked him (and just about everyone else) in training camp.
Good question. Lundin on the blueline and then Zibanejad up front? In this scenario I was thinking both Stone and Zibanejad started in the AHL.
could have been an actual starting lineup, to this new
season !! Must have been too late to recall Stone and Zibanejad from Bingo !!
GO SENS GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Miguel needs to change underwear (E6)
Could this have a negative effect on Ceci's development?
They are 1-5 and not looking good at all...
Man, it does make me upset over the whole issue. F that, it's time to focus on the B-Sens this Saturday. Really looking forward to hearing about it. I wonder, will the Team 1200 use it's open slot for all the B-sens games up until the NHL resolves it's issues?
The problem here is overall defensive play by the team if you ask me. They aren't having a problem scoring, it's keeping the puck out of the net. In the games where they are scoring 4 goals, they are getting 6 scored against them. Until they can fix that problem, it'll be a tough road. But unlike some of the other teams who started off bad, Ottawa actually looks good and has the ability to turn it around.
Ceci has 7 points, with a +4 in 6 games. Not too bad.
the 67's could use a veteran like prince.
Did anyone see the poll on TSN? 44% of 29,000 polled say they are done with the NHL.
I would be losing it excited all day long today if I was going to watch this game tonight.
i would support a Canadian hockey league that involves all the canadian teams who leave the nhl to form the new league and add in quebec and other east and west coast canadian teams.
Agree Tookie. I have been to 4 games and they have been good at times but too many mistakes. Their #1 goalie, Keigan Wilson, is injured.. and Blair is a rookie playing his first OHL games.. I heard they lost over 7 players from last season so a lot of young guys in the lineup.
Read in the Citizen that Alfie will be at the 67's game on Sunday.. one of his son's is playing during the intermission.
I wonder what kind of response he would get when showed on the big screen? Cheer because he is Alfie or booed because of the lockout.. and his comments yesterday that he is not happy with the NHL's tactics.. when the only tactics going on is the delay tactics by the NHLPA. His comments about the NHL's first offer of 43% when that's what the Owners have been dealing with for some time.
I truly believe the NHLPA is starting to lose fan support they have spent such a long time trying to build up.. but then again the NHL is not gaining fan support.. I think the fans are just fed up...
Interesting indeed.. I wonder what Lehner thinks of that? Or Lawton? I hope Lehner plays at least one of those games I going to next weekend..
I wonder if that will be the case when the NHL returns. That poll should go to the negotiations.. maybe then both sides will realize the damage they are causing.
They are playing the fans as fools.. using them as pawns against each other. I guess the fans have had enough.
Read some comments on facebook that it's rumoured some of the NHL advertisers are prepared to walk away if this is not settled shortly. Now that could hit their pocketbooks hard in addition to the fans...
Time both sides stop the posturing and get back to the ice.
I miss my Sens...
Nice! I've been wanting a Lehner/Bishop showdown a long time! :) :) :)
Feels like a UFC fight LOL...who's gonna get the title!?
Are we looking at the Ottawa Sens goalie tandem of the future? Curious as to why Murray did not give Bishop a contract extension -- like he did with Neil, Turris & Smith?

God i miss hockey
be resting up for the beginning of an awesome Sens season.
Now it's really hitting home. Can't believe the NHL has
let this happen again.
Defenseman Ben Blood and goaltender Marc Cheverie have been assigned to the B-Sens ECHL affiliate Elmira Jackals.
How many more cuts do Bingo have to make?
They should have to have their final roster set by
sometime tomorrow, right?
I see this as a positive. Lehner has has always thrived on competition. This will push him and Bishop. Maybe a bit of foreshadowing into the future, but I could see the Sens making room for both next season in Ottawa. Anderson with a good year could bring a hefty return in a trade and you still have 2 studs in net.
Doing my best to bring the whole lot of ya with me. Post game recap to follow. I have a good feeling about the Senators tonight...
I give it a month before we have all lost it ;)
i predict Tookie will be hard on Latendresse if he doesn't make an instant impact and will suggest that Turris has taken a step back from last year. If Karlsson doesn't score he will explain how opposition coaches have worked him out.
Miguel will be relentlessly positive even if it's a defeat and mention that it's just one game, however there will be a group of readers who immediately leap onto the "quit winnin' for MacKinnon" bandwagon.
Pekluso will be unaware of the score but will have loved the fighting and will threaten any stinkin' Habs fan he can find in the parking lot.
Sandy will just be happy that the season started time after the surprisingly short lock out.
I'll sit back and pick holes in people's arguments without actually offering anything other than a level status quo opinion.
EEEEEEYORE !
Terrible news for Lehner, forget Lawson...I'm pretty sure Lehner is not too pleased about this. Even splitting games between them is not what Lehner had hoped for this season...
And of course delays development in the sense that we wont see if Lehner can handle a full load...
Easy win tonight, 194-0 Sens.
Well I will be hard on him, he's on the top line without even having to prove himself...I personally dont think he's top 6 talent so I will be the first to tell him to get out of town if he fails.....which is a hard task when playing with Spezza...
I have nothing against Turris, I expect him to only improve but the jabs will come if he stinks it up.
As for Karlsson I dont expect him to best his previous season, that would be a crazy accomplishment and incredibly hard to do. I do think other teams will check him more and be much more physical, just like in the playoffs where he disappeared.
Easy Cowboy...
You mean Miguel irritating the rest of us, I never brought up that shit.
Sandy would be happy that the season started after a short lockout... but the problem is.. that is not likely to happen. No progress made today, and it's been reported they are even far apart on some non-core issues...
It's sad to see and so unnecessary..
And lol at Regin being injured.
We have become a nation who have let the 4th estate run aground. Lies are not confronted, they are accepted into the narrative.
highlights if they wren't posted before.
and how many more cuts to come in Bingamton?
He said that he had been at a meeting with Bettman and Fehr and a few other players in NY and explained a little history about the past lockouts. In 94 I think it was, both sides had come to an agreement and when the NHLPA lawyers put the finishing touches on it they had changed some of the wording to favour the players. Bettman was not impressed.
Last time in 2005 they had an agreement in principle in February and could have started a 30 game season but the NHL lawyers had to dot the I's and cross the T's so the season never ended up taking place.
The most important thing he said was that once an agreement is in place it would take an entire month before we would actually see hockey being played. Their is alot of trust that has been broken from past negotiations.
He also said from the players perspective they would like to see rich clubs like The Leafs be able to buy cap space and draft picks from smaller market teams to help with there bottom line and make these markets more viable.
If the Sens don't spend to the cap this year they could in essence trade the Leafs their surplus space up to a certain percentage for cash.
I would only hope that their would be a definitive amount that a team could buy over the cap and only for that current year. What would be fair? 10% ?
GO BSENS GO!!!
Head to Head
What an awesome team in Bingo this year, huge change from last.
Obvious why but Awesome just the same, Bingo fans should be stoked.
A seasons starts at the end of the summer (technically), anything else isn't a natural NHL season.
Not a big fan of MLB, or NBA, but that is what I will watch until next season I guess. Was planning on buying center ice but guess not.
Full season or no season.
What are your thoughts on Michalek?
Latenderness-Spezza-Silfverberg
MIchalek-Turris-Alfie
Zibby-Regin-Hoffman
Greening-Smith-Neil
O'Brien 13th forward
Daugavins and Condra trade bait - give us your best offers - crappy teams like T.O. - Columbus could use some guys with heart. Unfortunately we moved on from these hard working gentlemen esp with Stone-Peterssen and DaCosta also knocking at the door.
Just trying to make it feel like normal :)
I think Condra would definitely be in the lineup and Hoffman would be in Bingo.

If it helps, he was going to heroically return on the weekend and score twice creating controversy over who should come out of the line up.
I couldn't see the game, can anyone tell me, did Spezza return? if he's out for a while I guess it gives Zbad a chance.
LIAR ! You made the bet !
The heartwarming, feel good story so desperately needed.
