Under Kevin Dineen, the Panthers remain one of the league’s biggest surprises. They hold a four point lead over the slumping Washington Capital and hold down the third seed in the Eastern Conference. The Panthers have won three straight and six of their last ten and have an impressive 14-5-7 record on home ice.
After picking up his second shutout of the season last night in Tampa, Craig Anderson will be back between the pipes for the Sens tonight.
The league’s busiest goalie will be playing in his fifty-fourth game of the year. No goalie has faced more shots (1585) and made more saves (1441) than Anderson and he will certainly make the bulk of the starts for the Sens down the stretch.
Paul MacLean is expected to go with the same line up as he did against the Lightning. That means that Konopka and Carkner will look on from the press box again. With Butler, O’Brien and Lee all playing well since being inserted into the line up, it’s an easy decision for MacLean to stick with the same combinations.
Here is how the Sens are expected to line up…
Michalek-Spezza-Butler
Greening-Turris-Alfie
Daugavins-Smith-Condra
Foligno-O'Brien-Neil
Kuba-Karlsson
Phillips-Gonchar
Cowen-Lee
Tonight’s game is available on NHL Centre Ice. The feed is going to be pretty awful as they will be using the in-house scoreboard feed synced up with the Panthers radio broadcast which features this guy. Hang on tight, Sens fans.
- Evgeni Malkin is running away with the Hart Trophy this year but Jason Spezza is quietly putting together a season worthy of consideration. Spezza has 25 goals and 60 points which is good enough for 5th in league scoring. Impressive totals considering he has played with wingers like Milan Michalek, Colin Greening and Bobby Butler the majority of the season. Spezza has carried the Sens offence this season while also leading the entire league in faceoffs taken.
- The Rick Nash talk has consumed the NHL over the last 24 hours but it really doesn't sound like the Sens will be serious players. I look to a team like the Los Angeles Kings as the favourite at this point. Should be interesting to watch how it all plays out.
We could *really* use two points tonight. Extra "padding" while we sit idle for four nights and watch the teams chasing us catch up in terms of games played.
GO SENATORS!
GO OILERS!
Would be interesting to see what unfolds of this situation, but getting him in our top six for cheap and also give him an audition for next year.
just throwing it out there and not saying we should go after him.
Yes, let's get a player who believes he should decide his own ice time. I'm sure he'd fit right in with MacLean's group.
If you don't want to get blasted, say something reasonable.
Any Rogers users know the details?
seems like its a universal free preview. i couldnt see anything about a free preview on any of Bell, Shaw or NHL Centre Ice websites....
can anyone provide real confirmation that there is actually a free preview?
Hey Dork......you'r e an ass. We are all sens fans on here and anyone can say what they want. Dont need your horseshit comments......t hanks
Whenever Rogers has free previews, those channels are just magically unlocked for the preview period, this is the way it's always happened for NHL CI preview as well.
I checked last night, the channels are not available for free right now. That coupled with no mention of the promo on Rogers shitty assed web site = no free preview for us.
Sucks I know, especially since there are no more games until next Monday. Aaargh!
Anyone that is carrying the free preview, I read it is available from Feb 13th to 19th across select providers, so if we were to get it at all, we'd already have it by now.
Updated the post until we can confirm whether or not there actually is a free preview. I know I read talk of it on Twitter yesterday but I'm not sure.
With the gap in points after 9th place in the conference, losing is not an option for the Sens, as IMHO 9th place is technically the worst place to end up in your conference.
I know that I was pointing the obvious there, but what isn't quite as obvious is that the Sens have to play better than .500 hockey for the rest of the season to end up in 8th. So any sort of losing streak from now on will spell disaster as far as the playoffs are considered. So let's WIN TONIGHT as the rest of the league will finally get to catch up in games played over the next week and a half or so.
Guess it was just misinformation. Apologies for the confusion. Would expect that streams will be available. Good luck!
*sigh*
Hoping for a win tonight which would put the Sens far enough ahead of the Leafs & Caps.. that if they win their games in hand - they cannot catch the Sens during the small layoff.
I did not see all of the game last night.. but I did notice one play by Lee.. when he knocked a Tampa player with the puck on his ass. That play has to occur more often from the Sens D..
I agree that O'Brien is playing well. It took some time for him to develop to play a decent game in the NHL...
Do you think any contending team may come calling for Konopka? I heard there were several teams after him in the off-season. Probably would get a very low pick in return.
I also noticed a lot of trashing on people's comments on this site lately. Come on guys.. it's opinions... opinions are neither right nor wrong... nothing to fly off the handle on. We can disagree.. but stay classy.
Then get Centre Ice. Its like $26 a month when you get the Ultimate Sports pack.
Its probably gonna be on 488 or 491 and it usually wont show the game name, like Ottawa vs Florida, it'll just say NHL Centre Ice. Which confuses everyone.
Well we picked him up for his tenacity at the playoff circle and also his renowned pugilistic skills and I'm sure one of the contenders would be happy to have a little more of that.
That IS with Centre Ice. That is the only feed available tonight.
Regarding Konopka, I think there will be some contending teams that will be interested. Frankly, I think these are the only type of teams who he'd be a good fit for.
I like the play of O'Brien in the middle of the 4th line, and I think the Sens may give him a long look. They can always look to Winchester to fill that hole, if they decide that O'Brien isn't worth re-signing.
That is a huge droppoff, that's the price to pay when you have the luxury of a 65" HDTV...
might as well go with Dino and Gord "thats left to right on your radio dial" :)
Agreed O'Brien is really playing well on that 4th line, and really makes it more of a 3b line than a 4th line.
As someone else put it, he does play a very physical game, but it is not a penalty physical, but rather a speed, go to dirty areas, knock people around, and get back into the play, type of physical. Kind of what Fisher used to do early on in his career in Ottawa.
Although from what I have heard Konopka is a room favorite, and is well liked by the team.
Ottawa not on Nash's list - which is probably a good thing.
TSN suggests:
Vancouver, Philly, NYR, Toronto, Kings.
----------------------------------------------------
Now if you were Nash -- would you not want to go to a team that has a true #1 centre? He has never had that in all his years in Columbus.. I do believe.
Four of those teams can say that... one can't... But Nash is from nearby Brampton -- is he not? Is that his tie to the Leafs?
But it's all a guessing game...
It's rumoured Columbus wants a decent goaltender in return... only 2 of those teams have that... Kings & Vanc.
This might be an interesting trade deadline day after all... waiting for Nash to go somewhere.
What about shaw subscribers?
the leafs probably could pull it off but would have to give up some good pieces from their D, forwards and maybe even Reimer. But the leafs don't have a #1 centre and if Nash comse to Toronto, they probably have to send their only potential #1 in Kadri the other way. He is from Brampton for what its worth. I think CLS mgmt probably nixes a deal with the leafs before it even gets to Nash. Teams like NYR, Philly and LA seem like the front bets.
my 2 cents: out of all the places Nash can go to, none turn his acquisition into a cup win. its never happened with this type of player. if you dont believe it, just look at Hossa. it took him actually signing in Chicago to finally get the cup.
I think there's little question about that. They have two young goalies that alot of teams are interested in. One of them will be in the deal.
I got a free preview for 40 days with Rogers. All I did it sasy "I want to get Center Ice, but I would like a free preview to see if I like it before I committ." They hooked me up right away. Try it.
Would they be willing to shake up their roster? Could they go after Nash?
Did you see Hossa bump into the linesman last night? They seem to be a frustrated bunch.. can't say that I blame them?
What has been their issues?
Use KHOCKEYVILLE as the promo code. You will have to register but no credit card information or stuff like that.

GO SENS GO!
That more or less says it all... Haven't really watched a lot of their games but that goaltending is not very good... Thanks Tookie..
you gotta think the kings want to make a serious push while they have their young core in tact.
They have the assets without question Imagine Kopitar centering Mike Richards and Rick Nash...
holy crap. unstoppable
only issue is having the Columbus fans suffer through watching Nash light them up 4-5 games per season.
Sweet thx!! Do u know if the game is on gamecenter?
As far as I know yes
you gotta think the kings want to make a serious push while they have their young core in tact.

Don't be so sure. You never know how guys will play together. Remember what they said when Heatley went to San Jose. "wait until Heatley gets a chance to play with Thornton"...tur ns out that Spezza was the best center Heatley ever had...you never know.

Oh and 5-1 Sens tonight!
you sir...I love...thank you lol
Yeah thanks F4N, I've been hankering to see what that is like on PS3 and this provides the perfect (free) opportunity!
Yeah k just Create a dumby account Should be good to go man
Cheers enjoy
Just download NHL app if all us fails
not sad at all. i had 2 midterms today, was still equally if not more worried that i might not have a way to watch the game.
Many thanks!
Damn, I just gave it a try, but no ice. The nice lady asked me if I was following a specific team and I didn't want to say Sens (because she would just tell me to get SportsNet, which I already have), so I feigned interest in the Canucks. FOR SHAME!!
Though she did say I can get Centre Ice for the rest of the season (and playoffs) for $75... I'm tempted.
Got this from another poster above, and it seems legit.
http://www.firstrowsports.eu/sport/ice-hockey.html
His career started late due to college so he doesn't have a ton of miles on him.
That would really solidify our left wing with Umberger, Michalek, Foligno and Greening. I'm not sure what it would cost, but if they're rebuilding, they probably don't want much money coming back the other way.
Thoughts?
i feel like im watching something from 1985
bad sd feed, but still better than radio
Not on yet. The online stream is still showing the NHL.com logo saying the game will begin soon.
Yep, got it now.
Not that it does me any good, I pay for center ice and don't get the game as it is blacked out in my area.
waiting for the feed to start
yes center ice is the $75 for the rest of the regular season, in canada playoffs are on cbc,tsn and sportsnet.
Too bad the quality of the Sens feed isnt the Razor sharp HD that the pens game is, looks like one of those classic 80's games
GO SENS
and ya this looks like its being filmed with a potato...
Well ok, I still prefer HD.
I think the cameraman's full time job is bootlegging porn flicks in dingy Ft. Lauderdale theatres.
Sounds like a public access College announcer lol
FLA play-by-play announcer is former NHL'er Randy Moller.
I almost knocked over my laptop. LOL.
pause your tv and let the radio catch up, its a minute or two behind, use a whistle for reference, then press play.
with a pvr your spoiled...
Even my dog who normally follows the action has turned his back on the tv!
Great for O'Brien, In my opinion hes been great and really deserved that one!
GO SENS GO
http://hockeynightt.blogspot.com/2011/10/2.html
thanks!
Fckn obrien baby snipes
crappier than normal feed, but watchable i guess.
Apparently, she keeps it in the top shelf...
Did you hear how cheesy the Party City ad was?
455 or 492
They were right when only Game Centre could carry the game. The online feed doesn't even show it!
Thats what we need in Ottawa!!
only advtange to this scoreboard feed.
but yes i dont think anyone would disagree with you on that, do they still have them at the 67s games? i havent been to a game in many years
No Center Ice on Rogers either.
Finally got a very low quality stream working on my PS3 browser, now it is intermission.
What a rigamarole!
All tied up, let's get'er going boys!
fckinnn right !
Lol and he keeps saying it, so funny.
LOL, florida has got themselves in a "pickle"
Hahahahahaha this guy is brutal with the names
What if DAGOBINS is actually how its pronounced?? Man.. I never checked the phonetics. And I'm no Latvian expert...
Dahgavinch is the real way to say it. He tolerates Dahgavinz...
they once asked him how to pronounce it and he said its pronounced daugavINSH but wants ppl in north america to call him daugavins to avoid the 37838 million pronounciation attempts LOL
what a goal short handed
sweet fact: a member from each line today has scored.
depth baby depth.
Think of it as 2 decent 3rd lines
He had his chance with Turris and Alfie and he'll get another
What a first round treat that would be.
CubaLibre in the press box!
what an idiot...
We can certainly be quite bi-polar sometimes that's for sure.
I feel safer on the PK than on the PP... We just can't seem to get it together.. Surprising with the fire power on this team.
I say, put the Bingo crew on there. Condra, Greening, Smith, Dagoobins, O'brien, Butler... What do have to lose at this point?
shouldnt u be at the game !! :)
ahem:
"that kind of play will make senior citizens start chasing each other"
I like them too
i wish i had these guys for all the boring games of sens vs devils last few years, great entertainers.. well im more laughing at them, not so much their jokes
(i know devils arent the boring team and more but i still picture them as the most boring team ever)
In which part of the state are you?
talk about random...
Quoting Karl Erikson:
andy was saying that the panthers player infront of the net hit it with a high stick
cant get enough of these jokes
Nice... Jinx Coke.
I am on the other coast (gulf coast), I will make it over one of these days.
For sure this would have been a game to be at.
"Alright, here's the call"
(Sound amplifies by 30x) "CRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRR SCORED CRRRRRRRRR BY CRRRRRRR NUMBER CRRRRRRR 17 CRRRRRR FILIP KUBACRRRRRRRRRR R"
hope they stay off the beach...
"ALRIGHT HERES A BREAKAWAY"
- cuts off -
"meeting between the mavericks and the knicks saturday blah blah blah"
...wutttttt?
Hilarious dude.
thanks to everyone for the great comments around here tonight!
im out peace !
go sens gooooooo
GO SENS GO
it had it's moments as 2-3 pixels, give it some credit common
& Ben Eager starts the come-back at 2:32 of the 1st.
Going to be a barn-burner!
1- The Sens-Florida game was in 1954 Technicolor. What a garbage feed that was compared the Oilers game.
2- Leafs fans really are cockroaches. Look at the crowd in Edmonton. I hope a few of those fuckers leave with a fat lip...
