The Sens have a chance to catch the Calgary Flames napping a little bit as they were in action last night against the Islanders and looked awful in a 3-1 loss to the New York Islanders. Flames have been playing some better hockey as of late but struggled on the Island.
Calgary is 5-3-2 in their past ten and have played themselves back into contention in the Western Conference.
Despite losing a couple games in a row, the Sens still trail the Leafs by just two points for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. That makes these two weekend games all the more important.
Craig Anderson struggled badly against the Habs the other night and has been relegated to back up against the Flames. Alex Auld will get the start on home ice but don't be surprised if Anderson is back between the pipes tomorrow night. Ottawa will also have Chris Phillips back in the line up tonight. Matt Carkner will watch on from the pressbox.
Here is how the Sens are expected to line up...
Greening-Spezza-Michalek
Condra-Turris-Alfredsson
Foligno-Smith-Butler
Daugavins-Konopka-Neil
Kuba-Karlsson
Cowen-Gonchar
Phillips-Lee

We did this once before and I was blown away by the feedback. This time we have a chance to help out the Sens chances at the All Star Game in the process. That's right, it's time for another CALL TO LURKERS!
I know you are out there.
Those of you that read the site on a daily basis but don't usually join in the comment section. I'm asking you all to step forward and cast your ballot for Daniel Alfredsson. Jason Spezza, Milan Michalek, Erik Karlsson, Sergei Gonchar and Tim Thomas. Thomas trails Reimer by a handful of votes and can still steal that spot away from the overrated Leafs goaltender. If you've already voted, create another account and vote again!
So each one of you, go to this link, sign up for an account and cast your ballot. If each SensChirp reader votes 30 times today, we might be able to tip the scales in the Sens favour.
Lurkers, occasional posters and comment section regulars..it's time to make our voice heard. Once you have voted, let us know in the comment section so we can see just how big a difference we are making.
VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!
No goals
Also good to see that Lee isn't the one coming out of the line-up.
Indeed you can. Just don't bother to check the box that enters you in the draw to win tickets as you would never receive the email about it.
foligno turris stone
silfverburg zibby alfredsson
condra smith neil
2012 ottawa senators unless we sign a quality ufa to play wing with spezza/michalek

KEEP VOTING!
I wouldn't vote my own goalie in to get lit up, just plain stupid!
For some reason, I can't vote thru my phone since it doesn't display properly on my Blackberry Curve.
I can vote another 30 times by registering another account though.
Go to gmail, create an account and use it to vote.
Slow day at the office so I did this with 4 accounts.
Also, I hope Reimer DOES, yes, DOES make the All-Star game! Why you ask? Because it will go to show how big of a farce the fan voting actually is and maybe they will get rid of that.
I got All-Star game tickets for Xmas, is anyone interested in buying them? They are in the 300's, if anyone is interested let me know and I'll shoot you my email...
Otherwise, I like that 11 and 9 are not on the same line.
PS: Thanks for the connector, had trouble trying to vote before!
Standard messaging rates apply. I think if you have text messaging on your phone you should be ok. Don't quote me on that though. Anyone know for sure?
Much appreciated! Can always count on the lurkers!
Alfie-Spezz-Mich-Karl-Letang-Thomas
Reimer in the allstar game... seriously?? What are leaf fans smoking!?!?
Having watched a bit of Daugavins and Condra in Bingo, I have to say I think Condra's a much better playmaker.
How is Pekka Rinne not in the top 5?
Playing for nashville doesn't help his cause.
And I'd much rather have Foligno on the 2nd line.
another 30
Another point people have made is that once he gets in the league he won't be able to get those goals in front of the net because the players are better and their compete level is higher. Every single young player deals with this. Stone on the other hand is many many steps ahead in terms of being able to score the dirty goals therefore it will always be his strength. The NHL is not about scoring nice snipes from the wing, it's about the dirty rebounds and that's what he's good at. Not saying he's going to play next year. He needs to develop for sure. But he has the tools to be a plug on the wing with 2 offensive stars some day
screw the leafs!!!!
The Jets have crept up with the Leafs and are now ahead of us. We have to stay in the thick of things and winning tonight's game and tomorrow's is an absolute must.
Lee playing and not Carks???
Voted!
by the way, has anyone gone out to any of the ODRs in ottawa this week? the -27 weather yesterday kept me indoors and apparantley freezing rain is coming to ruin everything soon..
60 votes imported from Binghamton!
Much saner on your site, so far today.
Very pleased that MacLean, has split Michalek and Alfredsson
to kickstart the chemistry, of both our 2 top lines.
Hope Alfredsson scores his 400th, and that Michalek, also gets back on scoring rampage, to pass the goal scoring leaders!!
Starting Auld in goal, will probably push the whole team to play better, and regain the lost rythm they once had !!
GO SENS GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would imagine bryan murray will get a second at the trade deadline for Gonchar, because IMO, he's gone at the deadline, wether or not this team is in a playoff spot, if BM is commited to the rebuild, he will still try and get picks/prospects at the deadline. Gonchar is alright offensively, but we have Karlsson, and Gryba/boroweki (dont know how to spell it) can do a better job defensively than Gonchar.. At least both gryba and boro hit, Gonchar just waves his stick at players
I believe we will have a second round pick.
I had a chance to play yesterday on a rink on Spratt road off Riverside south of hunt club. The ce was really good. It's the only rink my friends and I have been able to find in the city with ice good enough to have a good game of puck.
Ps: You can vote more than 30times with a different platform. Like computer, Iphone/Blackber ry & Texting! So 90 votes all together on one account!
240 times, more to come
our defencemen, move the puck out of our end, either by controlling the puck, fast skating, crisp passing, and
as such, no more turnovers, please.
With every player doing his job, we should certainly dominate the Flames, and win this game 6-2!!
as a person i dont want to see a kids career/confiden ce get shattered.....b ut as a sens fan living in toronto..hot damn digidy...reimer in the allstar game will pretty much garuntee the leafs relying on cookie monster in net and they'll end up in 9th again....
voted with another account will continue to do so during the game...
Fail for Nail
Still 3 periods to go.
And the Red Wings probably drafted the Czech goalie in the ninth round of the draft. The kid looks like Hasek 2.0!

Not vs. Canada he didn't.
We should have a step on a team that played last night and travelled. Alas, we are playing an undisciplined, uninspired game, not to mention not moving our feet.
Is this team showing its true colours?
Ugh.
I really don't get the lack of passion over the last 5 games.
The switch is clearly on "off".
Anyways, the closer we get to the lottery the better
We could definitely use him on our man advantage.
Heck, we could use him right now.
We need to come out in the second flying, I expect Anderson will be in.
not this fail crap again, I hope Murry trades our first for a top prospect so that can end.
Its kinna funny, the red wings actually drafted this kid 141st overall in the 2010 draft
The best thing should happen to our team is to draft early and trade some valuable guys with prospects and picks.
We will be alright next season, but our team will be super going forward from 2013/2014 season.
Little bit of patience is good. We will have our monster (Lehner) back full-time starting 2013/14 season. Karlson & Cowen will be huge for us. In the meantime, we will have solid guys upfront.
Of course they did. We should poach their scouting staff.
Our PP sucksssss
Same with Turris. He's been very good in the offensive zone. Would love for him to score
Spezza made a few good passes, mainly cause that's easy for him. He hasn't come close to playing a good game though. He only started moving his feet once the game got close.
That's not what a leader is suppose to do.
And Karlsson, beauty goal to tie it...Cardiac kids are back at it!
Alfie scores 400th for the game winner, let's do this!
"No, that's supposed to be an automatic"
LOL
These guys can't resist the jabs at the ref's either
What a goal. 400!
Nice call!!
THAT'S RIGHT, I FUCKING CALLED IT! WOOOOOO!
Thanks buddy!
Awesome call my friend!
I wait all week to see Alfie score his 400th
(in real time, not in replay)
and some jackass comes over to ask me stupid questions, just as it goes down.
again... FML
you had to know that 400 would come at home in front of his fans!
maybe it's time they review their policy on shunning players that choose to play north of the border.
Lead me to think: self, would you trade smith for fish today? The answer has to be no. I have ZERO issues with fish. That said, smith is cheaper, younger and generally the same level and type of player as fish.
@ Andrews Theory,
I was so thrilled for Alfredsson, on another great achievemnt, in such a brilliant career, with one team!
You could feel, and clearly see, that his teammates were
truly attempting to set him up, for a goal.
Karlsson slid him a perfect pass, which he slapped so quick,
that rookie goalie Irving, will never forget during his
whole life !
CONGRATULATIONS TO DANIEL ALFREDSSON, ON 400TH GOAL IN
FRONT OF 20,500 OTTAWA SENATORS FANS AT SCOTIABANK PLACE
Not really disagreeing here, but I should point out that Fisher was asked to be 2C. Had Fisher been a legit 3C with Turris (or equal player) as 2C, he might have had similar success.
Though I love Smith and would rather have him going forward than Fisher. Especially if he ends up as an awesome 4C in a year or two (with Turris and Zibby fighting for 2C/3C).
Still early, but Smith seems to be less fragile than Fisher. Fisher never played a full season with the Senators. He managed 79 games twice in 10 years.
Tsn iphone mobile app scoreboard doesn't show us playing saturday...
Go figure
I hope Shane Prince toasted their loss with a pint of Canadian micro brew!
First off, my first questionable call of the season, on THE Coach.
Don't know what he was thinking starting Baldy Auldy...but I digress...
The boys really showed a different team in the 2nd. Man, Coach must give great speeches, because they were different then on...
My boy, Zach Attack, 2nd goal what a shot...and then EK, need I say more????
Fuck, I love this team, I love the number 400, Go Sens Go
Let's see how far we can push this thing...
Awesome idea. I often struggle to get a post up right after the game (especially home games) but would love to be able to keep things going in here.
Will pass this idea along to the web guy.
Got a kick out of this. A couple "I told you so" type comments and also the last of the night from Tcharger.
Now I know you are a long time contributor on here but I just had to get a shot in. You did watch the final two periods plus overtime, right? :)
I would rather vote for lundqvist or fleury but I voted for thomas just for you Chirp
"It's destiny for #11.. 11th goal for Alfredsson 11th goal for Smith 11th goal for Foligno 11th Home win of the season Time of the goal - 23:11, 1 minute 11 seconds into the PP."
UNREAL
~Peluso
Auld sucks the big one. Worst $1M dollars spent this year by the SENS! What was Murray thinking? Lots of cheaper backup goalies out there putting up much better numbers. If the losses keep piling up when he plays, he could be the reason the SENS miss the playoffs. To make the playoffs you need a backup goalie playing above 0.500.
I say bring Lehner up as backup for the rest of the season so he can experience what it's like playing on a winning team!
for some reason 11 seems to be the sens lucky number
Seen prince play quite a few times and was absolutely shocked he didnt make the team. Like i said before though, all the more reason to hope canada fsu against those yanks!!
As much as i hate em' they couldve put together a WAY better team.
Team keeps surprising me.
Quoting SensChirp:
Hey Chirp,
Not sure I follow the flow of this comment, especially
"6 unanswered coming eh homer.....errr I mean Snoopy",
but all in all, I know that we are all having fun, and
this includes Tookie, Tyrant, Tcharger, The Apostle, AFM11, and of course the owner of this site !!
This damn bi-polar team drives me nuts haha
Ah, now I get it !!
At least I got 4 unanswered out of 6, in which the 4th, became the 400th for our Captain . Hope you saw the video Chirp put up ! You could see Karlsson was feeding Alfie endlessly to help him score ! Pure timing & magical !!
The embrace of the 2 was like father & son !!
GO SENS GO !!!!!!!!!!
I never said Smith IS better than Fisher, I was just saying that in terms of contributions to the team, Smith is contributing more than Fisher did last year.
Smith is one pace for 20+G/20+A/40+PT S, if anyone could've predicted that I'd like to call them a liar...
Smith is also way cheaper, and as much as I love the guy, if teams are looking to buy that might be a nice package 3C piece a team making a run is looking for....(Ok, maybe not but it's nice to dream)
O_o I think my brain just exploded....wow . Our captain is Godly.
