With the team's roster seemingly set, we can expect limited movement from the Sens over the next little while. Murray will continue to work to create a little bit of wiggle room on the club's blueline but those moves aren't likely to happen until a little closer to training camp.
Meanwhile, I'll do my best to keep the website interesting during the downtime.
Over the next couple of weeks, I was hoping to hold a sort of "open audition" for a new contributor here on SensChirp. Reading through the comment section it's clear that many of you write well and have plenty to say about the Sens. Well this is your chance to have your work featured on a more regular basis.
For now the position is a sort of unpaid internship, but it is a great opportunity to have your work exposed to a large number of die hard Sens fans. If you are interested, please submit an article no longer than 400 words in length to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . It can be on anything related to the Ottawa or Binghamton Senators.
Along with that, please include your name, email address and a little bit about why you think you would make a good contributor here on the site. The deadline for submissions is Friday, July 22, 2011 at 5:00 PM.
- I mentioned on Twitter that I would have information about the next SensChirp contest up today but I'm going to have to hold off. Still trying to sort out all the details, including the prize for the winner. Stay tuned for that either tomorrow or the next day.
- With all the recent changes, it's pretty clear the team in Binghamton will be quite different next season. Since winning the Calder Cup last month, the club has said goodbye to Ryan Keller, Ryan Potulny, Derek Smith, Roman Wick, Andre Benoit, Geoff Kinrade, David Hale, Barry Brust and Cody Bass. They will also lose Bobby Butler, Erik Condra, Colin Greening and Zack Smith because those four will spend the full season in Ottawa. Should be interesting to see what Kleinendorst can do with that group next year.
As for another writer, I can expect you'll receive many entries. Good luck making a choice!
Why are our comments from earlier deleted?

You have the same topic posted twice !
Causing to have replies to both !
Quoting SNOOPY SENIOR:
Hahah found my old comments!
Guy? I always thought Tookie was a chick...
That would be terrible. Between him and Heatley we are going to lose our voices booing.
He can't make it in the KHL... why in hell would a team in the NHL sign him... unless it's Florida to get to the cap floor.
Wouldn't it generate lots of discussion if the Sens are the team talking to Yashin?
I second the motion. Maybe Joy would want to be a guest poster.
Amen
The Senators, would be the laughing stock of the NHL,
if they were negotiating with Alexei Yashin, after all
the grief he brought to this team !
Although his agent Gandler is one of the biggest SOB's in the business.

Is it official that both Hale and Benoit are headed somewhere else? It was said on Twitter that it was a rumour, just not anything firm official.
Yashin is a selfish douchebag who would not be a good influence on the younger players. He is an example of what NOT to be for a player. He had great skill... but not a team player... NO
In case people forgot, he's quit on teams more often than Heatley. Plus, he sucks. If the guy isn't getting offered a contract in Russia there is something seriously wrong with him.
It wouldn't be SOOO bad...the guy's dead.
I have never seen tookie's comments but I've heard hes not the best person to promote sens rather than downsize every sens move I think there should be some pessimism but also ottawa has made some good moves and to say ottawa will get fist overall pick for the next 15 years is an inkling bit too pessimitic so if you are a true sens sens fan crank up the optimism (from the comments I hear tookie you are a die hard leafs fan so i'd take my advice[if I were you] before everyone ignores all your comments).

- him squirm every day as BooBoo asks him what it is like to be known as a money grubbing quiter & Brennan asked him whether or not Carol Ault still eats everything raw
- someone lacing the breathing mouthpiece with ipecac before Ya$hin takes the VO2 max test
- Neal, Konopka, Smith & Carkner taking runs at him
- Rod Bryden given a chance to "sharpen" Ya$hin's skates
- Gandler attempt to justify why he still holds valid credentials as an NHL player rep
- regular Sens players sending Ya$hin "buddy passes" as he crosses opposing bluelines
- Ya$hin getting cut at the end of camp
Now don't get me wrong, Yashin has skills, but remember why he ended up in the KHL? His attitude and demeanor were crap. This isn't to say he couldn't come back and help out a team in severe need of a 2nd or 3rd line C, Jet's, Wild, Preds, Yot's for one. I know, Ottawa needs a 2nd line C, but there is no way it's Yashin.
Must be a typo.. I think you meant "interestING"
Tookie would love all the talk he's getting in this thread. Still waiting for him to join in the conversation.
I appreciate the support/jeers but im not interested, good luck to whoever gets it, im sure they will do well!
thats kind of a change, could be posturing putting that up for other GMs to read.
BM is not in a strong position in a trade for defence as it is obvious we have a log jam and need to clear some players.
He'll be out for the season after that one
thank god the voice of reason!!!
Very well put SlickRick!
Sorry to hear you're not interested. All I can tell you is - when I come to this site, the first thing I do is look for a new post from Chirp, and then I check to see if you have responded. Ok, I also usually check for the sure-to-come name calling that follows...
That gave me goosebumps... C'MON October!!!
during that last part that wasn't from the Chrysler commercial I had about as much attention span as someone with ADEEEEEEEEEEEEE HD( ATTENTION DEFICIT EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA... HYPERACTIVE DISORDER). In other words I was absolutely confused and if I tried to make sense of all the words my brain would have probably exploded.
If the team brings him back I wouldnt be all against it, the term and money is what I would be concerned about.
I would only accept a 1 year deal!
I thought you wanted our team to tank to get Yakupov; now all of a sudden your willing to bring in a selfish, past-his-prime veteran to put up points? What happened to your airtight pessimistic logic?
We will still be bottom 5 with Yashin at 2C, that dont change much. But like I mentioned, its highly unlikely he signs here anyways, he's got 1 offer already and its the Islanders.
Yashin is only being discussed because this is such a dead time of year for hockey talk. You're right though. Character has to count for something and Yashin has none.
It's kind of funny in retrospect as I recall Firestone, Bridgeman and company saying that Yashin had a stronger character than Hamrlik and they were extremely happy that Tampa left Yashin for the Sens.
Definately Yashin was the better hockey player, but obviously, Hamrlik is a far better person.
Hard to complain too much. Yashin got the Sens Spezza & Chara (& Muckalt).
same thing goes to florida (trades in the past 10 years or so)
Bingo was not expected to even make the playoffs last year... and they end up winning the Calder Cup. It's why they play the games. They have lost a lot of key players.. but it's up to the new guys coming in and the coaching staff to fill those gaps with their play.
And with Lehner in net they'll have a chance to win most nights!
Funny you should mention Lehner. Just finishing up a blog on him actually!
Not only is the off season brutal as there is no hockey but refreshing your site 10x a day is not nearly as entertaining and I have one less thing to do while slacking off at work LOL
bring on the new article/discuss ion :-P
Nice, I look forward to the read. He's one of the most interesting prospects imo, would be fun to read about his off-season if you have any information.
It has nothing to do with grudges, it has everything to do with experience.
Now that would make my summer.
They have a Russian with issues in camp that may work out or may go back to Russia after this season and these guys are coming up with
bring back Yashin
Slap yourself on this one. How about bring in a Russian that wants to play.
