  • Murray Speaks- Alfie, Draft, Budget and MacLean

Lost in the hype around yesterday’s announcement surrounding the new Canadian Tire Centre, or The Wheel House as Sens fans have dubbed it, was an interesting interview with Sens GM Bryan Murray.

In the article posted on the Senators website,  Murray discussed a variety of topics including the future of Daniel Alfredsson, plans for draft day, Paul MacLean’s future and how the new agreement with Canadian Tire may impact the team’s salary structure for next season.  Plenty to digest in just a few paragraphs but I thought I’d share my thoughts on what Murray had to say.

Bingo on the Brink- Lehner Starts Game 5

(UPDATE 11:09 AM)-According to Binghamton Senators reporter Joy Lindsay, it sounds like Robin Lehner will make his first pro playoff start tonight against Manchester. Great opportunity for the young goaltender to get some valuable experience.

With a line up full of players that had gained valuable NHL experience down the stretch, it looked like the Binghamton Senators were poised to make some noise in the AHL playoffs.  But after last night's 6-3 loss on home ice, the BSens find themselves on the brink of elimination, trailing the Manchester Monarchs 3-1.

Game 5 goes tonight in Bingo.

A hat trick from Ryan Potulny wasn't enough as the team's defence along with starter Barry Brust struggled and the Monarchs made them pay. Manchester had just 26 shots on the night and scored six.

Perhaps the most disappointing part about the Bingo loss is it puts our plans for a Binghamton road trip in serious danger. If the Sens were to advance to the second round we have been in talking about organizing a bus trip to take in a Binghamton playoff game.  All the more reason to cheer on a first round comeback!

I'll update this post in a little bit with some line up notes for Game 5 and quick update on the NHL team's search for a head coach.

Hey Chirp!
Good to hear you're thinking about a roadie, the RSU was planning a trip as well - if the BSens make it to round 2, give us a shout! Maybe we can work out a better rate on a bus, hotels, etc.
GO BINGO!

No surpise here Chirp...some of these guys played 85 regular season games (AHL + NHL) and the leading scorer is hurt

Corey Locke will not play tonight in Game 5. Too bad. The guys could definitely use him.

This Bingo topic really isn't doing it for people. I think we have officially entered the off season :)

Chirp I think you'd get more reaction if we could actually watch the games on TV. I'd rather watch Bingo than stupid SJ Sharks come back or Pitts/TB etc...these games should be on local Rogers 22 or streamed somewhere (ATDHE where are you?!)
anyway maybe we need to just watch Fisher rip it up and live vicariously (*sp) through the Preds?
or "DUCK HUNT!"

Bingo - you hit the nail on the head. I'm trying but it's just too hard to get excited for an AHL team when the NHL playoffs are going on. Just seems irrelevant. Sorry!

I hate the off season :(, not to mention its exam time for many readers chirp, including myself. It will pick up in two-three weeks.

Good! Serves all those bingo fans right for booing Lehner over their hero Brust...lets see how much they like Barry now that he's posted an impressive line of a 3.92 GAA and a 0.86 save percentage when it counted.

HA!

Let's hope they can come back...it's going to be really difficult. I think I read 14 of the B-Sens are playing in their 1st ever AHL playoff game.. that's not a lot of experience.

Where is David Hale & Derek Smith?

Last I heard David Hale was off due to wife having a baby.. but that was at the start of the series -- you would think he would be back by now. I guess Derek Smith must be injured.

They need these 2 D.

Let's go Lehner... show those Bingo fans what you can do.

Another Duck Hunt is happening. Thought I would wait until after the draft and free agency for that though.

Lehner for president!

He's got a chance to win over the fans ahead of taking over the starter's role next year. Here's to hoping he is able to start a comeback story and get some fans to chant the above instead of booing him.

Thanks Sandy. The video was terrible but the announcers were hilarious. Half the time they didn't know they were on the air. Hopefully it works again for this game

Especially when the nhl games are televised, i was thinking of getting an ahl package to follow the b sens but they wanted more money then it costs me for the nhl center ice pacakge and its doubtful that it would be in hd.

The sens tv on the sens site should be podcasting bingo games to its fans for free. i'd watch the ahl bingo games if they were accessible, but for now i just stream team 1200, i feel like a hockey fan from the 50's listening to a game, yet i have all the electronics and gizmos like marty mcfly.

The was one point in a break in the game, that the B-Sens mascot was picking on a Manchester fan... the mascot then took the guys popcorn and threw it at him.... it was hilarious.. but probably a lot more funny to see then to say in words.

Why did everyone thumbs down Sandy's desire for Muller?

I have a hard time seeing Muller as a bad coach. Gets instant respect from any Sens players who happen to also be fans.

The only thing Kirk needs is an opportunity. Heard Dallas & NJ are interested. He's got all the makings of a good leader and coach, plus the "hockey gravitas" and playing career to boot. A relatively young head coach to grow with our roster - plus it's practically his hometown!

Judgments are easy with hindsight and I don't claim to know better than GMs or career-hockey-m anagement-types EXCEPT THIS ONE TIME!

I'm with you Sandy. KIRK MULLER - YES!

Am I the only one who still has L-R test cutoff issues in the pop-up comments box? I see it expands downwards, but L to R, there are still about 3 or 4 spaces I can't see.

Could someone confirm/deny this? I DO have an old laptop.
