Coming into this game you had to know the goalies were going to be a factor in the outcome.
With both teams icing line ups that are challenged offensively, it was pretty clear this was a game where goals were going to be hard to come by. Add in Vokoun and Anderson both playing some of their best hockey the last little while and the game was exactly what we should have expected.
While he had his shutout bid busted late, it was another terrific outing from Craig Anderson.
Starting for the 9th straight game, Anderson was his usual reliable self. He wasn't tested a whole lot in the first 20 minutes but made a handful of key saves in the middle frame and completely shut the door in the third period. The one goal that did get by him looked like it went off the stick of a Sens defenceman at the side of the net.
All the Sens offence came from young defenceman Erik Karlsson. The kid hasn't been quite the same since the NHL's All Star Break but this was clearly his best game in the second half. Karlsson was a threat in the offensive zone all night long and notched his 10th and 11th of the season. He finished the game with 10 shots on goal.
Solid outing from Ryan Shannon as well who registered 5 shots in more than 17 minutes of ice time.
Early in the third period, Sens tough guy Francis Lessard was ejected from the game for what looked like a clean hit. This was clearly a case of the officials being on edge after the Chara incident the other day. If I hear that there is a suspension on that play I think I will have officially lost faith in the NHL's disciplinary system.
The call on the ice was a five minute major for charging with the officials saying Lessard left his feet.
A warm welcome to everyone that has found their way to the new site! The transition was a little bumpy but I think most people have arrived with the exception of a few stragglers. I've said it before but I strongly encourage you to register for the site. Makes commenting a lot easier and provides access to some other features, including entry into a ticket draw next week.
Still some wrinkles to iron out as we move forward so please don't hesitate to provide feedback or ask questions.
I hate that we got Anderson in the tail end of a season from hell. Next year we'll be scary again. I can't wait.
The site looks great, I can take Hockeybuzz out of my bookmarks now!
Glad to hear Karlsson had a good outing.
On the mobile version there is no tab for Mr. Yost!
I think the team would have survived this year but we would have been complaining again in a couple years. Might as well go through it now and see the team get better from here.
PS Great site Chirp! The colours make the comments a little hard to read though...
Sounds like people are pretty much unanimous on this. Will change it to something a little easier on the eyes, asap
Leafs Rule!!
White background on that one
As for the layout, glad everyone loves it, but will echo the same sentiment about the color scheme. You know I'm color blind, right JC? Reading this stuff is like a reoccurring Brian Elliott shootout.
What do you think of the way it looks in the pop out comments? Do people prefer that look?
(now that's out of the way)
The game overall was pretty boring but Karlsson overall play was great (2 goals doesn't hurt either lol).
Keep up the awesome job SC!
Nice game all around, really hope we can sign Anderson, but at the same time he should stop winning games for us, I want Landeskog !!
The game was another low scoring snooze. The tank is in real jeopardy right now but it looks like the next string of games will remedy that situation. I don't see Ottawa winning more than 3/8. Hopefully they go 2/8 or worse. That would lock up the tank for the year as far as the bottom four spots are concerned.
1. Lightning
2. Sabres
3. Penguins
4. Devils
5. Lightning
6. Hurricanes
7. Rangers
8. Capitals
Did someone take my name?
Indeed. We're only three points behind Colorado, who are sinking like rock. I don't know how we can possibly stay behind them the way they've been playing.
Keep up the good work Chirp!
Especially to have such solid reviews the day of a switch (because no one likes change) definitely is saying a lot towards the quality of the current site!
Only things I would suggest as I think others have already:
Lets try this is a way that lets people vote if they like the idea or not! I will list my 3 concerns with the new site, and people can thumbs up thumbs down! (great addition)
That would be a much better place wouldn't it! Haha
Unfortunately I did not find that!
Also, if you're looking for moderators for the future, I'd like to volunteer to help out this wonderful site.
And how do I get my "nick name" to appear instead of my real name.
Good job and go Sens!
Overall site looks pretty good. I predict bigs things.

Didn't see any discussion about it though.
The popup window sticks to the browser instead of being independant. And it's not well aligned, I can't move the window. I
Thanks for that! I will pass that along and see if we can get it fixed.
Long time reader (long time), first time poster! Liking the new site :) The font size changer makes me giggle.
Congratulations to your designer !
I look forward to join conversations with all you knowledgeable fans!
Huge thanks to Chirp for giving us die hard fans a place to vent, support, and be part of a great online community.
Lessard hit was a clean hockey hit - terrible call but understand the situation the refs are in after the Chara incident.
CC - PLEASE start McElhinney tonight. 3 wins in a row is enough, we need to keep pace with the Oil!
Edited the post !
love the site
Yea someone else just pointed that out too. Will work on it. An extra click for now though.
great job with the changes so far, any luck with the favicon?
I like to site so far. Anyway to see more than 10 comments at a time?
That's fine for the times when I can check frequently, but I suspect that it will be less convenient when trying to cath up on a conversation when you can't scroll briefly through the comments
That would be good too, but i think we would also need a jump to comments box like on the old site.
I would also like the option of seeing mores posts per page.
Yea I'm working on that pop up box thing. It's actually quite useful when it's operating properly.
A lot like the old site.
1. When you use the comment page tabs at the bottom you are left at the bottom of the next (or previous page. Might be better if that function took you to the top of the comment section you are navigating to.
2. The pop-up comment doesn't seem to be working for me. I get a white pop-up that I can resize but there is no content. Running IE8.0 on Windows7
One thing (small but annoying) is when clicking to go to the next page, you have to scroll up to the top manually as the bottom comes up first. It would be nice if it went to "top of page" automatically
OUCH MY EYES!!!! Do not "change" (edit) your post. Chirp, that needs a fixin lol
Didn't get that ouch my eyes thing. What needs to be fixed?
I guess he means the fact that the edit page is white? Doesn't phase me really.
Glad you found your way over! Still some people left behind but hopefully by the end of the day the transition will be complete.
Hoping King K can continue racking up some points these last games to gain back some of that confident we've seen in him.
Looking forward to your Game Day Post with the Projected Lineup.
Can you also list the Defense Pairings
on all your posts ??
Looks like Clouston will go with same lineup, but one never knows, he just might juggle a few lines, and give McElhinney the start vs Tampa Bay
On the blank pop-up screen ... just realized there is the following text:
"Illegal variable _files or _env or _get or _post or _cookie or _server or _session or globals passed to script."
It really looks like the D is playing with a little more confidence knowing that Anderson is there to back them up.
I hope to God we don't pass Colorado and finish 3rd last ahhh
I've never commented on anything but I've been following you Chirp for 2-3 years now. Glad to see Yost on here as well. Quite the dynamic duo.
As for the game. I thought it was kinda of a snoozer until the third. Lessard penalty was Shit. We gotta get McBackup in soon so maybe we'll stay in the top 5 picks. Although it is nice to see the lads winning for sure.
Hey Chirp, the edit box was like an off white and I could barely see the text. Maybe it was my issue. testing again with this post
still seeing the same thing. In no one else seeing what I am seeing?
