If Hedman, Duchene, Hedman, and Kane prove to be as good as or better than Heatley, it will be too late, see? Because then they will all have already proved they're awesome, and we won't be able to trade heatley anymore for one of them cause they'll be on other teams. Get it "safe hands"? You have to draft players BEFORE they start their NHL careers. But with good scouting, we can be pretty sure of what we'll get. Crazy, eh?

For all tose bashing Phaneuf... gimme a break. You guys must not watch much hockey. This guy played most of last year hurt, and was up for the norris the year before. You'd think for a bunch of guys still going on about "The Cup Run" you'd be able to remember the awards from less than a year ago. Phaneuf would be great here. It would be a great deal for both teams, we may even get their 2nd this year or first next as well.

We're not as 'over the barrell' as you might think. If Heatley wants to move we'll find what the best deal is the the Ottawa Senators or he sits and doesn't get paid.

He's still a world-class player so if you think a 5th overall pick and an RFA are going to do it on their own, you're dreaming in techinicolour!

I believe LA is willing to give up Frolov and he also had an off yr last yr. Also if Frolov does come to Ottawa, I think we can convince Cammaleri to come here as well. I'd love to see Heatley for Frolov + 1st. Although, I'd also like to see the Sens give back a roster defenseman and take a prospect back (Schubert / Picard to LA, Hickey/Teubert to OTT), and expect that Ottawa would have to throw a 2nd round pick LA's' way to make this happen.

IF Heatley goes to Calgary, I'd love to see Phaneuf come our way, and I hear that this isn't actually a stretch of the imagination...Phaneuf has yet to REALLY prove himself in Calgary as the D-man to get the franchise going, and with top line wingers like Iginla and Heatley, they'd have a pretty potent top line

I'm with Anon 3:52. I wanna see a trade like Filitov, Klesla and their first rounder to us, which I think would work out well for both teams. We get an elite prospect and a solid defenceman (as well as a pick, which you pair with ours to move up, maybe get us our top 6 forward) We trim the fat, losing kelly and smith, abd possibly sign Cammeleri. I see the lines then looking like this.

Karlsson and Picard spend time in the minors to develop (if picard hasnt by now, try to give him to a team that can use him) as well as having 2 lines that can score fairly regularly, a third line that can chip in and a fourth line that can agitate and play solid hockey. Defence doesnt have a workhorse, but works by committee, though unlike the start of last year, we have campoli added in.

Hey guys interesting trade proposals. No way LA is giving Fro at 2.9 and the 5th for Heater at 7.5. Granted Fro is not the pure sniper like Heater, but great in the corners and hard to knock off the puck, plus 30 gaols a year. It wont happen. Brown and Doughty are not going to happen. Brown is only a 3+ cap hit. If DL was to include Fro (which I doubt) , you all would have to take on Preissing contract-ouch not attractive-right!

From an LA stand point here are your options:
1. Fro + 5th for Heater and your 9th. Stop screaming!!! But the 5th is worth much more than the 9th according to the scouts and you are losing 4 mil off your cap.

2. Bernier, JJ, and Moller for Heater. Yeh I wouldnt do it either.

3. JJ, prospect and 5th for Heater.

4. Williams, prospect for Heater.

Sorry, I understand your feeling that Heatley is worth more, but finding someone to take on his 7.5 is not going to be easy. I just dont see DL giving up the 5th (potential franchise player) and Fro. On the other hand Your team has been a one line team for quite a few years now. By keeping Spezza and Heater, this will never change. Edmonton with O sully and Penner may be more attractive for ya. Dont see DL giving more than JJ, prospect and the 5th.

Trading for Thornton makes no sense people.

Thornton is a #1 center and we already have a #1 center, what we need is a scoring winger.

Yes there are other teams with 1a and 1b centers but the Sens don't have the cap space to pay a 1b center $7.2 million.

I think the best option right now is LA, they have a perfect combination of skilled established young players, prospects and picks to make a great deal for Heatley.
