Wow. Never thought that me posting frequently on occasion (and always pro-Sens) would actually detract from people enjoying this site. But the continued success of Senschrip.ca is far more important than any benefit I get out of sharing my views/thoughts with other Sens fans so I'll happily tone it down if some people are incapable of simply skipping over my posts. Go Sens Go Long live SensChirp Alfie is AMAZING (in Ray Lewis voice)

The Cooke play was dirty and was with intent. No he did not intend to cut the achillies. Yes he did intend to rake the back of the leg with his skate. In much the same way, no Bertuzzi didn't mean to break Moore's neck but yes he did intend to punch him in the head and tackle him into the ice. The final result is irrelevant. Severity exceeded intent but the injury is a result of intent.

Here is the deal on matt Cooke, Karlsson is the one on the ice and has the best take on Cooks intent. People do not want to admit that is could be 100% intentional what cooke did because they would have to believe that a person could be that rotten inside. Cooke has proven he is malicious and it is in his blood, the kind of guy that would kick a dog and laugh because he yelped and find it entertaining. I suggest Karlsson knows it was malicious intent, he may have even told Karlsson he would end his season or something of that nature this game or another, we don't know we were not on the ice. Not long ago a guy walked into a school and killed a bunch of kids, his intent was more clear but don't underestimate people can be twisted or mean to the bone and capable of doing malicious mean things with no regret. We want to think people are better than that but that is not always the case. I am 100% behind Karlsson unwavering.

I wish they would package tickets together with leaf and habs tickets in the same package (and a crap game against Columbus of course). Hopefully there's no way a Leaf fan would buy a Habs ticket and vice versa, so neither of them would buy the package, and the tickets would go to Sens fans who want both. Or they would just buy anyway and charge each other 10 times face value on kijiji like suckers.

Listening to the team earlier today they said tickets are still available for tomorrow nights game. Question and opinions from you guys please -- do you think the Sens organization will succeed somewhat with having less Leaf fans in attendance for tomorrow night? If it wasn't for HNIC more or less requesting Sat night for Leaf games... then games could be throughout the week and those from Toronto could stay there. I know a lot of them on sites are stating they will make it worse for Sens fans when they go to SBP tomorrow because of the Sens letter to STH. Also we spoke to a Security Officer at the game the other night about Leaf fans. We commented in that Sens fans should not get kicked out of the game for fighting with Leaf fans. The point he made is whoever throws the first punch is the one kicked out of the arena. So if you are going.. let the Leafs fan punch first.. LOL Go Sens go..

My thoughts on today's comment section... -Hax/Tookie post too much haha. I too prefer to see a variety of readers contributing rather than the one to one back and forth. Respect the opinion of one and tolerate the opinion of the other but I prefer variety over quantity. That said, if all the lurkers contributed as much as those two do, we'd have some pretty awesome discussion in here. -Yost's blog is good. There is a reason I wanted him to join this site. That said, I like to think we address different parts of the "market". I take pride on this being a blog run by a fan, for the fans. -I hate Matt Cooke -I like Paul MacLean

Paul McLean is a great coach. He's a players' coach.. He works them hard and expects a lot from his players.. but they really enjoy playing for him. Gryba for his 4 game NHL experience is playing well. Young players make mistakes ... especially defensemen. For a big guy he can skate and he can hit.. Give him some time before throwing him under the bus. I like Dizzy's game.. and agreed that line of Dizzy-Smith-Nei l with Methot & Gryba on the back.. is awesom. I'm hoping for a lot of Leaf pounding tomorrow. I think Lehner plays against the Leafs and Bishop against the Habs.. I want the Sens to beat the Leafs soooooo bad to shut up those arrogant, confrontational , holier than thou, Leaf fans...

I was at the game. A night of emotions. That Silfverberg first goal was great.. SH to boot. Andy was his usual great self.. then the injury. Disbelief and rage were the emotions I felt. First I thought it was an intentional run.. then saw the replay to see it was an accidental injury. Glad the Sens won. Silf needed about 10-12 AHL games to get used to the AHL game and the small ice. It has taken a little longer to get used to the NHL but he is slowly getting there. Now if only Silf, Alfie & Turris can get out of the Leafs game unscathed that would be great. As for Cooke.. I agree I can't see him intentionally cutting Karlsson.. but he was out to hurt him. Karlsson said his hands were high and knocked his helmet. I don't believe Cooke is a changed player. He has been quiet the last season and a half.. BUT this guy is a lose cannon who will be up to his old ways some day. BOOK IT.

Only the who have some anger issues that need resolving. And can the "Cooke's intent" bickering please end. He can all agree he's a POS, who many people around think should no longer be in the league. It doesn't matter what camera angle you watch it at, how much you slow it down, what Cooke ate for supper before the game, it's not going to change the fact it happened and now Karlsson is out while this 'changed' player remains lacing up his skates. And yeah it may be nice to see Neiler knock him into next week but I would much rather see Neil score a goal and give Cooke a nice toothless grin as he skates past him on the bench (where he'll be hiding for the majority of the game).

“I feel like he could have gotten out of the way and avoided me. Whether he tried to hurt me, only he knows. I guess we’ll never know that, but you still have to be responsible out there.” The comment above was made by Sidney Crosby after being hit in the head by David Steckel, then of the Washington Capitals. With Matt’s history, he probably gets a tough call on that one,” Crosby said, per the Winnipeg Sun. “I think that’s unnecessary. I think we all saw the play and know what happened and know that it was an accident. If you ask anyone that understands the game at all, they’ll tell you that it’s pretty hard to try to intentionally do what he did. Double standard, Sid???

Didn't think he played that bad. He looked to position up quite well. He seems to control thier sticks in the crease quite well. A team that cycles down low will force movement from the defencemen. Remember the forwards have some serious responsibilites in the slot and corners. I do agree that he had trouble clearing the puck and he will need to do better. Remember he is 4 games into his career and playing against the top lines in the NHL. Id say is is doing very well but no perfect. Every player makes mistakes or all games woulds end 0-0. Just need to minimize errors. Averaging 20 min. I think Wiercioch is also getting better.

Haha dont rush to the net like that...too funny. from the perspective of having your top goalie injured - yea that question has to be asked. if everyone agrees its a violent sport and that injuries from contact like anderson's and karlsson's are just unavoidable then noone should complain. but i think the grief is valid. games are more interesting to watch because of players like karlsson and andy, no offense to the other role players on teams. i dont think even pittsburgh fans tune in to watch what cooke does every game.

I wouldn't even say it's illegal. But it was pretty chippy out there even before the incident and I'm sure Cooke was running his mouth. That's the way the game is played for some guys - try to intimidate players. Cooke does it will next to no class and Karlsson clearly doesn't mind showing his dislike for the guy. Just because it's not illegal doesn't mean it wasn't reckless and doesn't mean Karlsson doesn't have the right to be pissed. I think it's great that he feels comfortable admitting that he doesn't like Cooke or respect him. He knows it will make him more of a target perhaps but he's not backing down. Good for him.

cont'd: if you take the kreider play, he knows that at best he tips the puck in the net and at worst he just runs the goalie and gets a goalie interference at most if the ref deems it such- he obviously has no regard for what happens to the goalie himself. the same thing happened with karlsson, Cooke knows that at best he gets the puck for a play on net and at worst he hobbles karlsson a little but there is noone questioning why the hell is he hitting him like that in the first place or why is Kreider rushing at the net with that much speed. i know it means the game will have to change a little, but thats the price to pay if fans, the league wants to see its best most exciting players play more games. and especially if the owners want to get their money's worth because its not good business to pay for injured rosters. and the league needs to get tough on referees, otherwise it will be headless chicken mode.

on the issue with Kreider running anderson: the cause of this is much deeper and effects every team - and it starts with the people who run this league and this game. and this also applies to the karlsson incident. the league does not have clear and strict standards for unacceptable plays on the ice. further from that, the lousy loose criteria they do have, they fail to implement it consistently and strictly. then they have the most shit officiating this year (and every year) - i think duchene's offside goal was a tipping point. officials need to be accountable because with the powers they have, they impact outcomes of games. this combines to give players almost free reign to do what they want on the ice. in the end the game will learn a hard lesson that its the players that make the games exciting, not the game that makes players exciting. therefore, the league needs to change to protect players on the ice.

At the very least he gives Andy a huge snow shower., I agree it was technically a tripping penalty though. I wanted retaliation not because he was at fault, but if other players get close to your goalie...you let them know...just how it works. Cooke on the other hand, i don't care how much took defends him. he didn't intend on slicing heel, but he did intend to try and stop the #1 defensman in the league...that's his role...it was a reckless hit....and i hated him WAY BEFORE ANY OF THIS.
Comments here are crazy today, can't even keep up and read them all. I've been busy too I guess, but anyway. My thoughts on Bishop and Lehner. Yes, we all want to see Lehner play. But I have a feeling that Bishop will get the start Saturday, simply because he's Ottawa's backup to Anderson and he's faced more NHL time this year and showed very well in the last 3 games, including two shootout wins. It just makes sense to me that they'll hand him the job, it's his to lose. If he comes out Sat and wets the bed, you can bet they'll ride Lehner until Anderson returns. And even if he wins, they'll give the next game to Lehner to share the load. ;)

Your name, reputation, is everything, its all you have and players(especia lly those that have their source of income messed with) don't forget easily.

Agree with this. I was behind Bishop last night and there was no way he saw that shot coming at all. Complete screen. If anything, he seemed a little slow to react on the first gioal. I was also about ready to jump off a building when we went down 2-1.

Tookie, I enjoy reading your perspective most of the time. It's nice to hear your "lets not go too far over board" point of view. My take on it is that you get so firmly set in your own opinion of yourself that you can't ever adjust your position in the face of new information. Don't paint yourself in a corner. If you do, bite the bullet and step in the paint. It's no big deal to have to admit that you can accept a change of opinion. In this case, Cooke has not lost his balance. He is clearly stomping his foot down. Not recovering his footing but stomping. Did he mean to cut I	Karlsson? No. Did he wish to injure in some way? Clearly YES. That's what he's paid to do. Same as Neil. Neil simply is more circumspect.

As of today it would be 6th overall (lottery pending). With Florida and Calgary having games in hand and right below them. I doubt we'd get their first for Bishop alone but man, if it somehow worked out that way!

Bishop for Islanders 1rst would be perfect for both teams if Bishop keeps playing like a bonafide no 1 goaltender. But let's wait until the trade deadline to make sure the Isles don't make the playoffs this season. That would give us a shot at number 1 pick. WOW Let's keep dreaming!

Steve Lloyd ‏@Steve_Lloyd When a game isn't a game: Bishop's win last night doesn't count towards 6 games needed for him to not be UFA. Didn't play 30+ minutes. #Sens Poor Bishop. I'm sure he'll get the required games to make him a UFA but last night was close to worst-case scenario for him. Goes in out of the blue with Anderson injured and the fans/team feeling like they've been shot in the leg. Gives up two quick goals and suddenly we're behind (though neither were bad goals). Then the game doesn't even count towards his UFA status which I'm sure is a big goal of his. I'm sure he was the happiest guy in the rink when Zibanejad scored.
