Sandy, you hit on something I've wondered too, how will Anderson come into the year after such a solid season. He doesn't have much of a history of performing big after a good year, because he's been traded away in those situations in the past.
Chirp, didn't ScotiaBank Place have a bar or club in it called the Senate at one point? Maybe it was a restaurant, just wondering if it's related in anyway at all. I'm sure I'll find myself down there at some point when NHL is back. Or maybe even without NHL hockey pulling me inside. On that note, what did ya's think about that comment today on the Team, where Molson may sue the NHL for financial compensation? I don't know anything more than what I heard and have not looked it up online. First thought is they wouldn't have a real case, but when you think about it... why not? Seems everyone is sueing everyone these days, for issues much dumber than this. Hell, if Fans could find a reason to sue I'm sure some of them would.

Hey man I work over at the Sens Store. The Heritage jerseys are still being sold, they have 4, 65, 19 and 25 left right now. Theres also a deal on right now that is 50pct off a second item but not alot of people know it counts for stitching too. If you were to get a $130 jersey you can get the pro stitch for half off and the total comes to $203, which is actually cheaper than buying a player jersey. Hope that helps. D

All great points Sensation, however I still have to question Greening on a first line, Although I feel he is a very competent player, he is not better than a third line player IMO. Spezza has not had a full line to play with since Heatly was here, he clearly needs a bonafide NHL talented player on his line... not Butler, Greening, Foligno, or Filatov, or unproven rookies, Latendresse may be a interesting trial

While I agree that Silfverberg was a bit overhyped and too much expected too fast, Stone has not played enough games to really make that judgement. Especially since Stone and Spezza have shown great chemistry any time they have been put together in past games or training camps. Zibanejad is progressing at around the pace most expected, but is not so far first line NHL material, but again he's still young and has time to grow. As was mentioned above by others, Greening could play there again if needed. And really once we got Turris this team was no longer a 1 line pony. I don't think having a great top 3 is more important than a solid top 6 and right now opposition teams will have trouble having to shut down both lines. Long term we'll definitely need a better sniper for Spezza though, agreed. Really though, until a training camp happens and we are able to see who has chemistry where, it's a bit premature to get worried about it all. Hoffman could still be a nice darkhorse in this whole conversation as well.

Nah, From what I'v seen in AHL, and SEL highlights, Silfverberg is an extremely one dimensional player, even hockey prospectus mentioned that. He has no dynamics to his game, in the SEL he had plenty of space to cruise coast to coast, shoot and score, and that was all he knew basically. If he is going to play with spezza he is going to have to find different ways to make plays and score goals. He also needs to take away pucks using his body rather than stick. I saw him at WC last year playing ALfredsson, he had zero chemistry with him, and Alfredsson ended up getting most of points off the powerplay. As of right now I think Stone is the best fit, he is a extremely smart player that knows when to make the right passes and plays, and knows when to get into the dirty areas to score. He has 4 assists in 4 games, but those numbers come from him playing third line minutes, just like how he had his 1 assist in his only playoff game last year despite playing like 6 minutes in the game. I think 10 games in if he was not injured he would have had a couple of goals aswell.

Does nobody think that Greening will improve from last year?? 17 goals for a rookie is nothing to be dissappointed with. I see him more as a 3rd liner, it adds a lot of depth. but I mean, if he works on his shooting he could be a 25 goals scorer, its not that far out of reach

I agree Migual. I'm trying so hard not to get too "high" on the 3rd straight days of talks. It still baffles me that the main sticking point is owners not wanting to pay out the contacts THEY signed. Especially considering all of these owners are lawyers/have extremly high business backgrounds. What sort of business ethics/business practices would that be saying, by signing a contract that you KNOW you will not fulfill?!??? Something "stinks" that's for sure.
ok I will admit that my hopes are up with the urgency displayed by the NHL and the PA, which leads to some optimism. But conversley I also have to admit at my dismay of the display of offence from our future down in Bingo. Before the seasson we all made strong points that Spezza needs a legit goal scorer on his line, nothing at all was done in the offseason to acquire that guy, so we all agreed that one of Silfver, Zibby, Stone should be able to fill that spot. Well, it is more than clear that none of them are ready right now, and some are already suggesting that they may never be ( which I do think is very premature ) but the reality is that none of them are ready yet, so again we are leaving Spezza with only MM9 as a threat. It makes defending that line much easier when there are only 2 out of the three that need to be covered. Thought?

Rookie coach... new system.. young players. Let's hope they get it together soon. Should be a good game on Saturday night. To those of you going... enjoy...

I'v been watching every single Binghamton game so far. For a young hockey team, they are probably one of the most boring teams to watch, which is probably why they can't generate any offence. Extremely sloppy plays, and very disorganized. To add to that I'v noticed that no one likes to pass the puck in that team, everyone loves to just take a shot from the perimeter, which is probably why they have one goal through there last 26 pp opportunities. They really are missing a true playmaker in their system. Also Silfverberg really has to get more physical, so should Zibanejad. They try to take away the puck too much with their sticks, rather than checking.
