Until we have a plethora of major award winners, bringing home a major trophy like the Norris, Calder or Rocket Richard should should immediately place the guy in our top 10. Karlsson is in regardless of whether he ever plays another game for us in my opinion

Sorry to hijack the thread, but to reply to your original post, I tend to agree with other posters that Hossa should definately find his way on the list somewhere. I also think that if there were to be a goalie listed, that Lalime should ultimately be there in Razor's place since I don't think that 1 season should make someone's legacy. Yeah, he brought us to the finals, but he was also a nut case and wasn't stable enough to hold down the #1 spot like others have (not that we have a whole lot of options at this point). Same with Karlsson, except that there's obviously a bright future awaiting this kid, but he'll have to replicate his last season (more or less) to be worthy of an "all-time Sens" nomination.

I just wanted to say thanks for all the comments on my first ever COTW. Yeah, Hossa could have easily fit on this list, but I saw a few extra things in the guys I listed on my top 10 that made me pick them over him. I actually debated using a top 11, but that would have looked a little dumb. Cheers.

Good on him. I thought he was ok in his short stint with the sens (non-flashy good d game). I just find his journey to captainship a little odd: Played for Bingo, they let him go, he goes play in russia i think, then they bring him back and make him captain. I'm fuzzy on the details, it just strikes me as odd. But it's also a different coach. He wasn't the one that was let go, it was the management's unwillingness to give him a 1-way after his end of season call-up. Murray wanted to keep him, but Benoit really wanted a 1-way. As a UFA, no other NHL team would gamble and give him a 1 yr 1-way, so we he left to Russia for the $$$ (I wouldn't blame him either). Needless to say, his ultimate goal is to play in the NHL, so he's back to give it another shot....but it sadly coincided with the lockout, which might end his latest bid to make the bigs. Awesome...thank s for the clarification.

In my mind there is no question that Benoit was/is good enough to play at the NHL level but there are hundreds of these guys out there where time and place didn't work out unfortunately. That's the challenge with being a bubble player that isn't a high draft pick... He didn't look out of place while playing up and for a team that is short on pmd he would have made an inexpensive addition. I was wondering if they were going to give the C to Hoffman, maybe he'll get the A along w Boro Cop.

My list would be: 1 - Alfie 2 - Spezza 3 - Yashin 4 - Phillips 5 - Redden 6 - Neil 7 - Hossa 8 - Chara 9 - Karlsson 10 - Heatley Heatley was absolutely awesome with us but has not done much since his departure. Whereas you look at Chara and Hossa, and they had many of their best seasons after leaving the Sens (Chara's 05/06 was just ridiculous). Give it time and Karlsson will move up my list and possibly replace Redden at #5.

It's great being a Senators fan and now just being an Ottawa sports fan has gotten even better today! The final hurdle in a never-ending race to get the Real Rough Riders back has been cleared and Canadian football will back in Canada's capital in 2014 at the earliest! Jeff Hunt is a brilliant owner who should market the franchise well and fill Frank Clair Stadium. Today is a happy day for our city. SOUTH SIDE SUCKS!

I hope & pray that we get to cheer our 'Alfie' in his final NHL season. There has to be an NHL season this year for that to happen.
