You don't trade a young player with loads of potential who will more then likely be ready to step in the NHL next year for a player that is further in his development and might only be ready for the NHL in 2-4 years. That's a lateral move at best, honestly I see it as a downgrade! Your basically saying you are willing to trade the 6th overall pick In 2011 for the 10-15th pick in 2012. How is that an improvement??? If Murray trades any of our blue chip prospects, it will be to upgrade the roster like a trade for a young more established player.

I'm a BIG Goalie fan, always have been. As soon as Bishop was acquired I started to scour through photos of the guy. I usually look at the Mask, equipment, stance, etc. For a guy who they say is now pushing 6'8, I'm amazed at how low his stance is. He seems to cover the net very well, top to bottom and looks very agile for a guy his size. Can't wait to see his debut tonight. Can't seem to find it, but if anyone has a leak on what Bishop's new mask looks like, I'd love to see it. Not that it really matters, but did anyone see the fight Bishop got in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9d1w1ILGlQ

It'll be interesting to see Bishop over the coming games. Definitely an opportunity well deserved, and it's completely understandable to send Lehner down given our need for a goalie in the AHL. The team will have a great feel for both goalies. I hope the winner of this contest is based on performance and not contract or age. Either way though, I think this will show everyone we have 2 great goaltender prospects and neither is a bad decision. As much as I love Karlsson, I am happy the NHL fined him because incidents like that need to be eliminated and it's best he learn his lesson now instead of pulling that in the playoffs and accidentally hurting someone more than intended. Lesson learned and the penalty is just a slap on the wrist. Easy for all to move on from. I do think however, that Maclean has gotten to the point of over thinking his lineup. He had Turris and Alfie going earlier in the year, the simple answer is put the catalyst (Foligno) back with them. Although Greening is no superstar in the making, Spezza's line was much more balanced and consistent when he was on it in my opinion. I think the Butler experiment has pretty much run it's course, and I wouldn't mind seeing him in the press box for a couple games or with more 4th line role and situational offensive opportunities on the power play.

Hmmm good question MadPJ... IMO I would say Noesen is available, American teams would love to nab this guy from us, he is lighting it up in Plymouth after a slow start. Another and I know this will not be popular would be Zibanejad, I just dont see him on the top line Michalek-Spezza -Stone/Prince/P ageau/FA, he's Fisher 2.0 and on the 2nd line I see Puempel-Turris- Silfverberg. With Noesen 7 Zibanejad I think we could easily move up and get Ceci, which we have more of need of than FW.

If Murray can find a GM that will take a prospect from us in exchange for a pick that gets us a better prospect then he'll do it of course - but GMs are (generally) not that stupid. The fact that we're ahead of schedule due in large part to the quick development of our young guys should mean that we're not as desperate for high picks as we would have been otherwise. Detroit and other teams have kept the young blood coming in with late picks for years - no reason we can't do the same. If we keep faltering with Andy out and finish 8th then yeah, I guess it would be better to drop all the way to 15th - but otherwise ride the Karlsson (and others) wave while it lasts.

Oh I know that, I was just saying I would rather be in 28th-30th place to have a chance at one of those guys. We are looking at a false security blanket, Greening, Condra, Butler, Foligno have all reach max potential IMO, 3rd and 4th liners playing in the top 6 really doesnt cut it, yes they had great years in terms of production vs value but they are not top 6 players. I understand people are pumped for us to be back into the playoffs, hell even I'm getting excited but reality is we either face NYR or BOS with quick exits or even fall out of the playoffs. The good thing is we have tons of FW prospects and I guess one of them has to turn elite, eventually?

Tookie brought up a good point. Ottawa can't be done after just 1 great draft year. While it's understood that nobody expected Ottawa to be where we are, it doesn't change the fact that we are no longer in the running for a top 5 pick, which is where we were slated before the year began. As happy as BM is that the Sens are doing what they are doing, he must be a little frustrated with his draft position has changed beyond what was expected. Everyone knows it was a 2-3 year plan, which normally includes expecting high picks. So it begs the question, will he move a few of our prospects from last year, for a better pick this year? As much as we don't want to hear it, it's highly possible as we do have an abundance of our picks who are doing MUCH better than anyone expected and we know that not all of them will get a fair shake. Could be the best time to sell high and try and land a top 4 pick in the draft. So, who would be considered good trade bait? Who would the Sens NOT move?

With the trade for Bishop, I think that pretty well solidified that the sens will take a D in the first round of this draft. There are no elite forwards after the top 10 and goalies are now set (blue chip prospect wise) now we can focus on picking one up in a late round. As for D prospects is it amazingly deep this year. After the top 4 D prospects, it is really a crap shoot on who will be drafted in the 10-25 range. While Ceci would be great to get - as an Ottawa 67 member - I believe that he will be one of the front runners to go in the top end of that secondary group (10th overall range) and likely out of the Sens reach at the draft. Players more likely in the Sens range are (in my own preference order) Maatta - two-way D better skater than Koekkoek but less mean Koekkoek - Strong two-way D who has a bit of a mean streak Pouliot - Offensive D a little undersized with amazing skating Still jumping up the boards is Finn. I haven't gotten a chance to watch him much, but he sure is skyrocketing quickly, and may just be out of the Sens reach come draft day. Whoever is at Ceci range we need to make a deal with, get the 10th pick. Right now MyNHLDraft has Ceci at 9th, right now Buffalo. 8th is Leafs, 10th is Tampa. I dont see any fo these teams except Tamps wanting to draft a D. Maybe send a couple of FW prospects to land Ceci.?

Players more likely in the Sens range are (in my own preference order) Maatta - two-way D better skater than Koekkoek but less mean Koekkoek - Strong two-way D who has a bit of a mean streak Pouliot - Offensive D a little undersized with amazing skating Still jumping up the boards is Finn. I haven't gotten a chance to watch him much, but he sure is skyrocketing quickly, and may just be out of the Sens reach come draft day.

This is the move I expected to see, happy it's now so Bishop gets a game in before NY Thursday. Not to take TB lightly but they aren't the Rangers. Ottawa as a team has to build on this game going forward, this will be a turning point type of game. They will feed off the energy from playing in front of Bishop in his first game as a Sen. Expect a better defensive game and hopefully a breakout by our stars. Super excited to see Bishop in this game!! :) Go Sens Go!!!

This may work out...when we miss the playoffs we can blame poor old Bishop...(Joke! ) Bishop will do OK, they haven't seen him before, he's big and fast and he's been waiting for five (5) long years!! A lot of good young goalies would sit still that long. Seriously, our DEFENCE is stinkin' the joint out, we're playing like we are home safe and sound and in a playoff spot. I don't think we appreciate how well "Andy" played to get us here. Gonchar is the key take the pressure off Jared that takes the pressure off #4 and #97, that takes the pressure off "Karl", who by the way handed in the Norris last night!

Binghamton needs a goalie too. Exactly. Think big picture. Not only does bingo need a goalie too but now they don't have to pay 3 goalies an NHL salary. It's also a business you know. This move saved Melnyk a solid amount of cash Cant wait to see the giant play. I'll I'm looking for is to see how his lateral movement is and if he can make the necessary save to keep the teams momentum going. Lehner had that going every game until vs the panthers(not that he had a bad game, just didn't make the crucial save). Even if the giant plays out of his mind I still see Anderson as our starter next year. There is finally a competition for the starter AND backup position. I think we should look at keeping that battle going as long as possible...obvi ously until it gets to the point where we get an offer we can't refuse on one oft the three or until the two young guys are just too good
