Here are some excerpts I found on playoff eligibility and the reserve list: Playoff Eligibility "Today, only players on the reserve list of an NHL club at the trading deadline may participate in the Stanley Cup playoffs." Reserve List "Today, a member club may have on its reserve list, at any one time, not more than 90 players, which shall include the following: - Not more than 50 players signed to standard player contracts and not less than 24 players and three goalkeepers under contract. Age 18 and age 19 players who were returned to Canadian Major Junior Hockey clubs, and who have not played 11 games in the National Hockey League in one season, are exempt from inclusion in the 50 player limit. - Unsigned draft selections." It would definitely burn a year off his ELC though.

how big is the game between Bufalo and Winnipeg tonight... i think Miller is going to throw the team on his back and bring them into the playoffs. I'd certainly be ok with having the sens pick a defenseman, our depth was good but It took a big step back when we traded DR. gryba and. Boro are bottom pairing guys I had to predict their potential which leaves PW..who knows, one of our guys playing university hockey could surprise with that said, best player available is definitley the way to go this year. really liked the idea of targeting gudbranson and or ive said before, lets make a pitch for Suter...

Just went through TSN's Feb draft rankings. On D I'd like to see Ottawa try for guys like Mathew Dumba # 5, Griffin Reinhart # 9 or Cody Ceci # 12, as the scouting reports are high on them. I know we'd be hard pressed to land Dumba (my overall fav) due to draft position, but Reinhart or Ceci could fall further if teams take an interest in the forwards. Looking at the forwards, we won't get any of well known names, but a guy like Radek Faksa # 10 could potentially be snagged if BM makes a move to advance in the draft. At 6'3, 202 lbs he's a big Czech that plays a power-forward style which the Sens could really use on the 1st or 2nd line in the future. But if we end up drafting 18th or later, we should take a serious look at Goalie Andrei Vasilevski # 18 or Malcolm Subban # 22. Everyone remembers what Vasilevski did in the WJC's this year at 17. He could be a great addition but I have a feeling that Malcolm Subban will pass him in the rankings before draft day.

Hometown Boy Cody Ceci looks like he will go somewhere between 10-20 in the draft this year so far, so he could be an excellent option for the Senators. Reinhart Ceci Koekkoek Maata Pelech Pouliot Trouba I have a feeling Sens are big on Bystrom, Swedish, plays for Modo, I hope they dont as the others I mentioned are basically NHL rdy or a year away. Bystrom would be a project. But All solid D's in this draft going between 10-25. I would take any of these so we are in good shape come draft day!

Stone is eligible for the AHL (based on my 10 minute old understanding of the rules). Silfverburg is too as he wasn't drafted from a CHL team. I don't think they both end up there for the full year though. I think Silfverberg makes the NHL roster next year and Stone gets a call-up at some point. None of Foligno, Regin, Konopka, Daugavins and Winchester are signed for next year and I can't see more than 2 of them having one way contracts going into the 2012/13 season as we need to make space for Zibanejad and Silfverburg who will both likely get a shot at a full time role next year. I think Foligno gets a deal and gets told he really needs to step up his game. The emergence of O'Brien as a viable option for 4th line C duties makes it unlikely both of Konopka and Winchester stay (although as a cheap option for a 13th forward you could do worse than have one of those). Regin picked a terrible time to be injured and I don't think there is space for him anymore. If Daugavins doesn't accept a two way deal I think he moves on too.

Hometown Boy Cody Ceci looks like he will go somewhere between 10-20 in the draft this year so far, so he could be an excellent option for the Senators. I was thinking the same thing, Ceci has been lighting it up. I haven't looked at the players available, but if Ottawa continues even close to what they have been doing, they will fall further into the draft and he could be possible. The thing with him is he's gaining more and more attention as the season goes. If they have a great post season expect him to climb higher. When it comes to the draft, Ottawa should focus on D, but as with any draft, isn't it best to take the best possible player, so long as he fits into the culture and system the Sens have? That seems to be the focus most times. And in the next season or two, odds are at least 1 or 2 of our high prospects could be used to pick up a D prospect. Everyone said it before, we won't be able to find a spot for all of them. Thoughts?

I like what I have heard about Ceci and we know Murray likes his local lads but I don't think he makes it out of the top 10. I also like the sound of Slater Koekkoek but I admit that is mainly because I like saying his name. EDIT: I agree with madpj about the best player available but isn't this draft loaded with D projected to go between 10 and 20 whereas the forwards seems to be either top 7 guys or 25 and below?

Found this in a couple of places. Based on this I think Prince can play in Bingo next year as his first OHL season was 2008-09. Plus he will be 20 before December 31 2012. Could any of this change under a new CBA? "The NHL and CHL have an agreement in place which ensures CHL franchises (and fanbases) are able to retain most of their talent for three to four years. The way it works is rather simple. A CHL player whose rights are held by an NHL team is only eligible to play a full season in the AHL if: (a) the player will turn 20 years of age by December 31st of the season in question; OR (b) the player has already completed four seasons of Junior eligibility."

You can play in junior as a 20 years old. But I think you can be sent to the ahl if you're 20. You can't if you're 19 or under. That's why the gatineau olympiques traded Pageau cause nobody in sens organisation could confirm that he'd be sent back to junior next year...

Prince is playing his 5th OHL season this year. He will turn 20 in November... Would he not be eligible for the AHL next season with 5 CHL seasons played? I saw a comment in the Ottawa Sun (yeah I know) that McLean said Bishop will get some games.

If I'm not mistaken he would have to return to Junior. I think that is the rule for any player with junior eligibilty remaining. The only time they can send a player to the AHL is when they are overage. This is something some NHL teams would like changed in the future. They feel that some players are too strong for the juniors, but could use some time in the AHL to get used to playing against men. They don't have that option right now. Obviously, the junior teams aren't thrilled with the idea... You are correct boom. Prince is not listed as an over-ager this year and is not eligible to be sent to the AHL. However, Ryan Martindale was not listed as an over-ager either, if I remember correctly, yet Edmonton kept him in their camp with no news until about 2 weeks into the 67's season when Edmonton sent him to the ECHL. As I understand it, he is back in the AHL now.

Plain and simple... after the 2 goal lead, the guys took their feet off the gas pedal. Really disappointing. I for one would like to see 'The Biship' start a game. A six foot seven goalie that can clear his own crease sounds pretty good to me. Still a fan of Lehner, would just like to see a Lehner-Biship tandom. On another note, maybe Turris should stop aiming for the iron.

I remember watching Stone when he was first invited to the Sens development camp and I can tell you that his skating during the WJC was a huuuge improvement! This summer will do wonders for him if he plans on spending it in Ottawa with the Sens' power skating coach. Will Stone and Silfverberg be eligible to play in the AHL? Our depth this year down there has gone down since the championship run. It'll be nice when we have a stronger team down there. Remember when Greening, Smith, and co. were called up? They barely missed a beat.
