If Bishop & Lehner both prove they can play in the NHL the next couple of seasons.. Anderson is gone and won't be here for 4 seasons... Most goalies before they come to the NHL play at least 3 yrs in the minors on most teams. What if Bingo didn't win the Cup last season... would we be having this argument? Lehner is still learning and still needs to mature a little. I personally think the Sens believe he will be their #1 goalie.. and will groom him that way. The Sens treat their players well and with respect -- they won't throw Lehner under the bus. He hasn't even played 2 full seasons in Binghamton. Played backup behind Brust last season.. and this year is having not so good a year. I think the Sens plan was for him to be the clear cut #1 in Bingo.. but that team is bad.. it has just not worked out. If he plays really well in the games he will do in Ottawa the next little while... that may change everything. Just because Bishop is bigger than Lehner does not mean he is better. Lehner has had more success in his short time than Bishop... If I can see that.. the team certainly can. Lehner will be the #1 in Ottawa in my mind.. but it may not come as soon as he wants it... Instead of pouting he should go to Bingo (if they are still in Bingo next season) and play hard to get out of there.. Next year will take care of itself... Can Bishop be sent to the AHL without going through waivers?

We haven't got three NHL goalies. We have one. Bishop hasn't proven he can be a back-up in the NHL for a full season and Lehner hasn't proven he can handle a full season as an AHL number 1 yet. Until they do that, they don't get a significant chance to replace Anderson. That's how it works. Bishop's one way deal makes him the front runner for the back-up job. In St Louis he was in a straight up fight for with Elliott and he lost out because Elliott out performed him, no other reason. This isn't a problem next year unless Lehner makes it a problem or Bishop shows he can't handle back-up duties. If Lehner creates a fuss instead of showing he deserves a chance based on his play in Binghampton then he needs to be told that you earn your role in the NHL (like we told Filatov and like how players such as Greening, Condra, Daugavins and O'Brien proved). If Bishop shows he can't handle the back up duties then we are in the same situation we were in for most of this year and we have Lehner to fal back on. Having Anderson, Bishop and Lehner isn't a problem for 2012/13. If it becomes a problem in 2013/14 because all three of them show they deserve to be in the NHL then that's a good problem to have and we'll deal with it then.

For all you "depth" at goalie guys...ya can't have three (3) first string goal tenders, that's what each of these men think the are. Ben was promised at trip to the show and a ONE way contract next year if he signed with us. "Andy" is here for three more years at least. NOW HERE IS THE IMPORTANT PART...Bishop for all intents and purposes blocks, boxes out Lehner for another full season probably two from even being the "Back Up" Goalie...it's simple if I'm Robin's Agent, it's simple, you go to Bryan and tell him ya gotta move one guy! And as for this "DEPTH" horse poo, everyone knmows you can't cary three NHL goalies on one team it just doesn't work! Note: Robin Lehner was not brought over to North America to play 4 or 5 years in Palookaville!

obviously systems like st.louis' phoenix and even florida have hidden the flaws of their goalies. we all thought vokuun on washington would be a 1st place team, we thought philly was finally stacked, we watched elliott continue to shit the bed in colorado and yet look at all these guys today, all of their worlds are upside down and while some play and impress with strong numbers, others got large long term contracts and are completely exposed under a week defensive system. goalies have to match the system the team uses or they risk failure and scutiny.

Agreed!!! Back in our Elliot days, he faced 30 shots or more almost 50% of the games he played and his stats were pretty much where everyone expected them to be. While he was in Colorado, he played only 12 games winning 2 but out of the last 30 they had 20 games where they faced 30 or more shots and 4 of those games over 40 shots. I guess what I'm saying is Elliot will have stretches of great games, which we was known for doing, but eventually that wears on you. In no way am I trying to show fault in Elliot, I'm just saying that St. Louis plays a much better defensive game than most teams realize and much better than Ottawa or Colorado in previous years, I guess you could say this year as well. This gives a Goalie a much higher chance of winning as long as you stop the routine shots. agreed. basically a goalie has to fit the system on the team he plays for or vice versa. Toronto is ample proof of that where the system they play, the goalies they have and even more so the goalie coach they have do not jive at all...and it creates a ridiculous mess. Elliot like any half-decent NHL goalie will thrive in a system which barely lets shots through to the goalie. But this is the beauty of the game today where players, coaches, goalies and goalie coaches all have to keep improving their game. Because eventally the players will figure goalies out and find holes in them. Similarly goalies figure teams, their styles and their systems out..its an ongoing cycle. Its very important for a goalie to fit in and be in sync with a team's defensive system.

Agreed!!! Thought I'd point something out, take it for what its worth. Elliot has been great this year but we can't let the system that St. Louis plays be overshadowed by Elliots numbers. I've done a little digging, out of the last 30 games I reviewed by St. Louis, the goalies who played faced more than 30 shots only 10 times. 6 times they faced fewer than 20 and Elliot won 3 of those games, two by shutout. Those wins were against Minnesota and Colorado, not the most threatning of teams. If you look at the games where they faced 30 or more shots in the last 30, it happened only 10 times. Out of those 10 games they won only 4 and it was Halak who won those games, not Elliot.
The more I think about the Gilroy/Lee trade, the more i like it - and I wasn't exactly upset about it in the first place. We give up a player Murray was clearly never sold on and give somebody a relatively risk free audition for the rest of the year, however, I don't think Gilroy is auditioning to replace Lee. Gilroy's audition is to replace Kuba. Assuming we don't get a blueliner from the UFA market in the summer, Lee's replacement is more than likely already in the system down in Bingo. It's Borowiecki or Gryba or WireCock. None of the bingo players need to be more than a number 6 dman next year and that takes a lot of pressure off them. In fact as they are all on 2 way deals we can even rotate and audition them all next year as we see fit. Maybe give them all 25 games unless somebody blows Murray away with their play the way Cowen did this year. What Murray needs to see from Gilroy is that he can move the puck as well as/nearly as well as Kuba and be a little more physical. Then suddenly we have our Kuba replacement at a third or half the cost. If Gilroy doesn't impress Murray in the next 20 games (and playoffs) then the chances of re-signing Kuba increase.

Sorry didn't realize BM was active on these boards. Thanks! Well you dont have to be an ass about it, this years draft is high on top D. The Sens are slated to finish somewhere between 16-25 and only D's are aroud that selection, some pretty good one too, Ceci, Koekkoek, Reilly, Trouba, Maata, Schmaltz.... Well I'm sure I never said use our 1st rounder on a goalie. My previous posts states that goalies are tough to predict and we did get eliiott late. The sens probably will draft a goalie in the late rounds. Even as early as 3. It wouldn't surprise me, but maybe closer to 5 or 6th round Acquiring 25 year old bishop will have no relevance to our draft strategy thats for sure. He is 2 years away form being UFA eligible

We will draft a goalie this year, but now it does not have to be considered in the first round. I would be very surprised if one of the 3rd round picks is not a goaltender. I agree Eliott was a late pick, many goalies are late picks. Bishop is 25 and will fill our need for the next 2 or 3 years. In 4 years we will not have anderson, and we will have 1 or both of lehner bishop and need another goalie in the farm continuity is needed, it makes perfect sense to draft a goalie in the 3rd round this year. He will play another year in the CHL/europe. Perhaps 2 then start his seasoning in the AHL. You can never have enough goalie prospects since very few really pan out Goalies are a hard target to get a lock on when it comes to drafting. While you sometimes get that#1 round selection that pans out as a starter such as Luongo, Fleury, Price. More often than not it works against you. And most teams are more then likely to use a 1st or 2nd round on fowards or D as they are usually slated higher in immediate value. Some of the top Goalies in this league were drafted later on (some didn't get drafted) and hit a good stride a few years into the league. Lundqvist - 7th round, Quick - 3rd round, Halak - 9th round Backstrom - undrafted, Kiprusoff - 5th round, Thomas - 9th round, Rinne - 9th round, Anderson - 3rd round. The list goes on. Some guys just do better than others and much of it has to do with the way they play and the system they get to play in. Personally a draft position for a goalie means little to most teams I think, so long as you prove you can get the job done.

You can never have enough goalie prospects since very few really pan out I agree, Lehner hasnt proven he can handle a full workload in the AHL, and his NHL resume so far has been very avg...But with Anderson down and Auld just being that shitty, Lehner will have his shot to prove he can handle a couple of weeks of pressure NHL hockey. If he doesnt its back to Bingo next year and he wont be happy.

This decision was actually made early on in the year. With Halak injured, they decided they wanted a more veteran nhl goalie to back him up and be the starter while he was out. Enter Elliott (he is 1.5 years older), who then not only fulfilled the role they required, but fit their system so well he became an all-star. Bishop is a great prospect, but that's all he is at this point, still unproven at the NHL level. It seems like a weird choice to us Sens fans who watched Elliott struggle to make routine saves last year, but St Louis appears to believe their time is in the next 2-3 years and figure the tandem of Halak and Elliott gives them the best shot. In swoops BM acquiring a better goalie than we could have hoped to draft with that pick and the Elliott Karma seems to have worked in our favor!

Is it just me or do Sens fans report more on attitude issues than any other fan base in the league? Are we that distrought and emotionally recked from Emery/Yashin? Lehner competes, who cares if he tried to fight a linesman to go after the other goalie to support his team. Who cares if he runs his mouth, I would much ratehr a player voice his displeasure about wanting to play etc, then one who just sits back and gets walked all over and ruins his value by sulking and not performing

I think it has been said a few times and it makes sense that the reason the Sens went out and got Bishop is to send a message to Lehner. If it's true that the organization is not happy with Lehner's attitude and work ethic, then this will probably get his attention. Plus if Bishop is as good as advertised the Sens got a steal. Bishop reminds me of Chara. Chara when he came into the league with the Isles was awkward. He developped his craft in Ottawa and became very good after the age of 25. Let's hope that Bishop can become the Chara of goalies.

Quick question for Hockey fans here.. And its the part bugging me about the Bishop trade (not that I'm complaining) But doesn't it strike you as odd that STL chose Elliott over Bishop? Sure he has played great this year, but so has Halak, and Elliot has never shown huge promise (late draft pick, floundered in Ottawa and gave Colorado Landeskog) Bishop on the other hand is primed and ready to go. Bishop gets you a 2nd pick. Wouldn't Elliott get you the same from Columbus or Tbay? And Bishop is younger (I believe) Probably what I would have donw but oh well

I don't understand the issue with the trade for Bishop, sorry if not all of you are agaisnt it, but it seems to be enough that people continually need to post why it's good for the Sens. Lehner is the expected future of this club, but he's only young, even with his AHL experience from last year aside. BM said on the radio the other day, it became apparent how important it is to have depth at this position, when Auld was playing and someone skated into his hand when smothering a puck. It hit him at that moment, because if he got injuried, who do they have? Lehner and nobody else, squat!! Sure, they could bring up Mike McKenna but then who holds the fold in Bingo? And McKenna is NOT NHL ready. Bishop gives the Senators Options and a healthy challenge for Lehner which he obviously thrives on. Lehner will always be considered our furture, but since when does it hurt to have another stud in the system? Lehner starts this week and Bishop starts in Bingo. But I believe Bishop will be brought up next week and will get an NHL start. If he has a good performance, he'll remain. I hear more about Gilroy as the hours pass, seems he has the puck moving skills which fit our system and likes to join the rush. As this is how we've played all year, it should be a good addition. Talk of him taking 2nd line PP duty as well will be interesting. No real world on his shot but his assists this year and plus 2 status indicate he has some skills. Let's put it this way, he's above Hedman in all categories with exception to goals, 1 less. I'm not saying he's got more upside than Hedman, or plays against the same competition each night, but it is a positive. But I think we've got a better overall player in Gilroy than Lee. Time will tell.

It's actually what has been posted here again and again.. that most teams ARE going to be in. Bruins - Rask - Thomas Buffalo - Miller - Enroth Colorado - JS Giguere - Varlamov Hawks - Crawford - Emery Detroit - Howard - MacDonald Kings - Bernier - Quick Wild - Backstrom - Harding Preds - Rinner - Lindback Devils - Brodeur Hedberg Rangers - Hank - Biron Blues - Halak - Elliot Canucks - Lou - Schneider Caps - Vokoun - Neuvirth SENS - Anderson - Auld ***** Anyone blasting this trade for Bishop really needs to see the bigger picture, and see where the future of goalies in the NHL is going. Having two great goaltenders isn't an option- it's a requirement in today's NHL. Relying on just one is way too risky now. Getting Bishop from STL was a blessing, no doubt about it. Hell, the fact that St Louis HAD 3 capable goalies is envious in and of itself.

Bishop is 25 and Lehner is 20 thats all that really matters Bishop is ready for a full time NHL load, he's that capable. If Elliott didn't become God he would be playing in STL right now. Its because Bishop was on STL farm that we are having this discussion. Because on many teams (NYI,PHO,CAL,OT T,TOR,MON,DET,F LA,TB) he is better than one of the options they posess. So if he was STL backup and got traded to us, we wouldn't think twice about lehner vs bishop since the plan really doesn't change. Let lehner hone is skills in the farm (like bishop did and almost every other goalie prospect safe proce for that matter) and then in a few years we have a real battle on our hands (if bishop doesn't leave for UFA) Spin it this way our goalies are anderson-Bishop and since Anderson went down we traded for Auld for insurance. Lehner is playing a few game snow because of how injuries worked out, but once Bishoip settles in then Lehner will be sent down to his original team

Not to pick on anyone in particular because there are similar comments all over the thread, but if Gilroy is so much better than Lee, why was he traded staight up for him? If Gilroy truly is better than Lee, then something else has to come into play to even out the trade (personal issues, contract demands, etc), right? Gilroy is a UFA at season end, and will be asking for an increase. TB wanted to get younger and are more patient Fair point. I am just saying that Gilroy can't be (and isn't IMO) that much better than Lee. Better yes, but in the same category. Based on TOI/G, Gilroy was TB 5th or 6th D, in the absence of Ohlund (I initially forgot about Kubina). Gilroy averages 17:36 TOIN/G, Lee 14:38. Gilroy barely played the PP in TB, so don't expect a major contribution there. Lee has 73 hits in less ice time. Gilroy has 49 (the same as Karlsson). Again, better, but not statospheres better.

I think this is great stuff. We have a proven number one goalie for the present and the next couple years with Anderson. Now we have two fairly young tenders in both Lehner and Bishop who have number one goalie potential. This is the position that most teams can only dream to be in. Bringing Bishop in is really going to push Lehner to be the best he can be. One of these two will be the goalie of the future. Best case scenario, Lehner and Bishop both become top end goalies and we can trade one of them for a solid player in the future. The future continues to look more and more bright for the Sens.

My Opinion on Lehner vs Bishop? Who Gives a Rat's Ass?! Deep down inside their heads, they want to play, and they want to be a starter. I don't think any lower of Lehner calling out Anderson that he wants to steal the starter job from Anderson, because I know that Bishop is thinking the same thing. Lehner is at least speaking his mind, and is honest. He's like Karlsson — Some people thought he was brash, and cocky, but Murray said, "He's a player that's confident in himself, and in his abilities." I think Lehner's the same way. As far as I know, I don't think Lehner has been pulled over for speeding, DUI, or any excessive partying. So far, he's flown under the radar in public eyes. Opposite of the "Rockstar mentality." (Hell, if I make the money he makes, I'll party like a rockstar all winter long." Rockstar mentality or not, both our golaies know their jobs, and they're gonna do what they know, to do it. Whoever management thinks is better, will eventually be the backup, or be labelled as "Goalie of the future." Think of it this way: If you're a goalie, do you want to be in Auld's shoes, starting less than 10 games in the NHL? or would you rather play, and be a starter in Bingo, and play 30-40 + games? I give the edge to the goalie who wants to play in Bingo, because it shows that he wants to play more games, and shows me a "more competitive level mentaility", and wants to prove that he can handle the workload. Bottom line: Whoever stops more pucks is the better goalie.

I honestly think Robin Lehner is still the better goalie for Bishop. He has the compete level of a goalie that is not seen very often. He reminds me of Ron Hextall. He is not afraid to call out people or get into a scum with players on the ice. He wants to win and will do anything to win. When do you see a goalie come into camp and was asked "So you think you will get the backup role in Ottawa? and he says I am not playing to be the backup, I am playing to steal the starter job from Anderson. Takes balls to say that to the camera and basically to Anderson's face. Lehner can steal games for his team. Again he has a save % over .900 on a team that is at the bottom of the AHL standings. He is stopping most of those pucks, just his team is not as good as it was in front of him. Look at the points for the skaters, it is pathetic! Lehner himself stole a few games for Bingo this year that they had no business to win. If he was not injured a few times this year, bingo would be in a playoff spot or out by a point or two. Robin Lehner is going to be a great goalie. He has shown he is a great goalie and he is going to do it again vs Boston. He will give us a chance to win tonight!!! Just need the offense to get the puck past Thomas!!! that is what we should be focusing on not about Lehner not being ready because he will be ready and he will be there for the team tomorrow night. He is going to take your comments about him and shove them right up your behinds. My prediction Auld will get Waived at some point or be scratched as Lehner will steal his job. Lehner is useless in Bingo this year with them out of a playoff spot. He will be the backup when Anderson is back

Why is everyone worried about Corvo? He can only beat up women. Google it if you don't know what I'm talking about. I just learned something new today! "While playing with the Los Angeles Kings' minor league team in Manchester, N.H., in 2003, defenseman Joe Corvo pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman in a bar in Boston. He was sentenced to 30 hours of community service, 50 hours of anger-managemen t counseling and three years of probation. Corvo credits the anger-managemen t therapy with helping him deal with bottled-up anger in his personal life and frustration over not making the NHL sooner. Now one of the Kings' regulars, he says, "It was a life-changing experience."" I prefer the Wikipedia account "Corvo was arrested in November 2002 in Boston after he grabbed a 34-year-old woman's buttocks in a restaurant. Restaurant staff told him to leave, but Corvo returned, punched the woman and then kicked her when she fell to the ground, police said. Corvo was given a three-year suspended sentence after he pleaded guilty to assault. Corvo was also suspended for three games by the Kings.[6]" Douchebag.

The Sens organization is known to treat it's players with respect. They have been grooming Lehner since they drafted him.... they are going to do what is best for Lehner... If he outplays Bishop he gets the backup role... it's as simple as that. One way contract or not... Bishop went to the minors with St. Louis because they wanted two experienced goaltenders in their lineup...

Hope Lehner plays and stings the Bruins with a shutout !! GO SENS GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well do you blame Corvo, he was nailed with an elbow to the head, if anything it is Turris that has to man up. No one can fight his fights for him. Turris escaped Judge Shanny but he still hit Corvo in the head, Corvo wants revenge. If Turris doesnt fight (which I think he will anyways) it will give him a hit and run rep through out the league. Didn't Corvo try to duck down.. as he did see him coming I believe. I think Shanahan said if he did not duck the contact would have been shoulder to shoulder. If he was so badly injured as he is claiming.. why no league mandated 15 min assessement... he was out on the PP. Going through the media with this -- Corvo is really stupid. All he had to do is challenge him.. not blast it through the media... dumb move Mr. Corvo

for a moment today I had thought the bruins had traded corvo for Zanon because they know Corvo is a chicken and he would make the bruins look like chickens too...but i guess the Bruins are not that smart yet. my bet is that Chris Neil takes out another Boston d-man tomorrow lol....i think Neil on a personal level has had enough of losing to Boston and is now left to his 'own' tools ....his first step was to take 1/2 of Boston's top D pairing. Second step is to take out Boston's 7th defenseman: Joe Corvo. LOL ya its too bad hes 5 9', and 168 pounds... exactly, and he plays for the best team in the WHL where as stone's team might not even make the playoffs. and that size says it all. hes also in his final year (its normal in the CHL to have 20 year olds dominate the league). another similar player is 5'8 150lbs yanni gourde who leads thw qmjhl with 105points, hes also in his final year He is an overager. He is a year older then Stone (who is a year older then most WHLers himself by the way). I would hope he dominates kids 3 years younger then him.

“Let’s just say I’ll be looking for him right off the bat,” said Corvo. “I’m not [happy]. Two days I’ve been walking around with a headache. Just because I didn’t lay down on the ice and get carted off and miss a period . . . I don’t know . . . it doesn’t mean that it wasn’t a cheap shot. “In my opinion he saw my numbers and took the opportunity to seek revenge for the game prior when we were at home. Hopefully he’s a man and he’ll step up tomorrow when I come after him. I’m not going to try and hurt him, but I want to fight him.” “I think so. It was a cheap shot. From what I heard I stayed on the ice for a second, but from what I was told he stayed on the ice and acted like he was hurt,” said Corvo. “It was just another indicator he felt like he was wrong and was afraid somebody else was going to going to get him while sticking up for me.” There u go Nick

With all the rumblings going on here about whether or not Robin Lehner has a "rock star" attitude.. you guys forgot that it's the goalie that keeps the team in the games. You wanna run him out of town for having a prima donna attitude? Good luck waiting another 10 years because every single goalie here since 1990s has been crap. You know it, I know it. Robin can be the biggest douchebag in the world for all I care- as long as he brings us the cup, I'll be damn happy to trade him right after (like Niemi leaving CHI). Does it matter really who brings us lord stanley? Chicago waited since 1960 for theirs.. I'd really like to see our Sens win one in my lifetime. Losing in the finals with the way our team was back then still stings. Knowing we were so close, I'd do anything to bring Alfie a cup.

You know, more and more I continue to be impressed with our General Manager Bryan Murray. If you guys watch the press conference for Gilroy, you see how smart of a GM he is. He isn't like the other stupid GM's like David Poile who make desperate, high risk trades for guys who have a high chance of not working out. Instead, he makes safer, low risk trades that cost the organization little and give players chances to succeed with Paul MacLean's coaching. I've been thoroughly impressed. I like the Gilroy deal. He only makes our blueline better folks. If he pans out for the next 20 games, then we can resign him, and not for very much. As good as Brian Lee has been the past while, Gilroy is still better. I love the roster we have going into the playoff push. They're young, hard working, skilfull, fast, hungry, and inexpensive. What they're not is old, overrated, expensive, and susceptible to being a bust.

I understand that Muckler picked him high and that Lee didn't deserve to be ninth but in the end he was and wouldn't have even been worth a late 1st rounder and that was what he would have been but Lee didn't contribute defensively and when he did it was limited and most of the time not at the opportune time. In the end Muckler is an idiot and hope he never comes near Ottawa again. If Ottawa uses him long term Matt Gilroy can be great if he meshes with the team. Best thing BM could have gotten for Lee. When I read the article on Gilroy it says that BM called him and said that they wanted Gilroy for his skills with moving the puck up etc. and is excited to have Gilroy. Gilroy said that he felt good after that phone call and was excited for Ottawa. With all the trades that have happened this year the players were excited to go to Ottawa. I think that BM knows how to do this even after the players know they're going to a good team. This year BM has blown me away by his great GMing and hope he keeps it up he never this year has made a trade that I wouldn't have done. Great job BM. Rebuilding a team in one year.

I'm not really familiar with Gilroy, but I would've liked to see Murray get a D-man who likes to be physical - but who is also mobile. I didn't have anyone specifically in mind. We just need help in our own zone when the other team cycles the puck. Other than that, I'm glad Murray did very little. Can't wait until tomorrow's game. I hope we're treated to a physical and exciting game - with the Sens winning in regulation, of course.

I don't get the Lehner bashing. If you watch his interview after the Islanders game he is very composed and says all the right things. Personally I think that if things work out the way I hope they do, I can see Anderson being traded for a decent return next season and we may have found two goalies for the next few years. I could never understand why the Sens signed Anderson to a four year deal. Don't get me wrong I think Anderson has been very good. But if the plan was to have Lehner as the number one, four years was too long.

Considering Karlsson likes to play on the right side of the powerplay, we might be able to experiment and slide Gilroy on the left side. Being a powerful right handed shot, he can unleash one hell of a one-timer (which we don't have in Kuba). It's somewhat of a head scratcher that Gonchar and Karlsson don't play together on the pp,(considering how dominant they were at the beginning of the year), perhaps it was due to the amount of giveaways they had at the blue line, plus Gonchar (although he can still pass effectively)his once famous one-timer seems not to exist anymore. Anyway, for sure I'd give Gilroy a shot on the top pp.

If Lehner is bent out of shape because he has competition, it remains open for him to be so good that there is no choice but to keep him in the NHL. If, like so many others, he feels entitled to his entitlements, he will be in the AHL and will be watching Bishop on TV. Like all others on the roster, he should be required to perform knowing there is someone waiting to take his job. Same goes for Bishop, as is the nature of competition.
I know the Bishop Lehner thing has been beat to death but I don't mind beating it more. We are in playoff contention and lost Anderson, that left us Lehner Auld and I am not sure if anyone here would argue Auld is not our saviour with Anderson out, nothing against him personally. So that leaves us Lehner to step up, if either Lehner can't step up or Lehner gets injured also then what, we are screwed thats what, Auld is not going to carry us to playoffs and beyond even if you forget we have no back up even for him if Lehner goes down. Bishop gives us Lehner and or Bishop to carry us to playoffs and beyond and if one of them gets hurt we have the other and Auld for back up. If Lehner plays lights out for us until Anderson gets back great, Bishop could be traded in a package for a top forward over the off season and his one way contract does not effect us in any way. Lehner falls and Bishop picks up and carries us until Anderson gets back we keep Bishop next year as back up and Lehner either goes back to Bingo and get his shit together or he gets traded. The only way the team gets screwed is if we did not pick up Bishop as a safety. The only way Lehner gets screwed is if he is not ready yet and plays like crap and has to spend another year in Bingo. Bishop or Lehner can be sent to Bingo this season so whoever performs stays up. After this season BM can reflect and decide what to do next year about goalies, he does not have to decide this season. Bishop or Lehner and even Anderson are very tradable. Worry about next year next year, we have to worry about now, now.

hate to say it but if your comments ring true then Lehner is well deserved for another year in AHL because thats a total non-team, non-organizatio nal strategy attitude. Lehner is good, but he is not bigger than the organization or the team here. He knows his ceiling and so does Bryan Murray. Lehner's agent does not need to chime in about that, thank you very much. Ottawa has seen its fair share of Rock Stars on all ends of the ice, what have you with prima donnas like Heatley and Emery. I think you are blowing this up too much over here. I think, Lehner's situation is a little complicated because he did help Bingo win the Calder last year and by the looks of it is close to NHL ready, but I think he himself will admit that he has regressed from where he was in training camp. the factors are multiple: personal motivation, injuries, the team being crap etc. etc. I think Lehner, if he hasnt already should see the big picture here and realize that the sens management is only trying to ensure that they are not in a tough spot when he does make the team full time. Lehner would definitely not enjoy it if he made the team and pooped the bed, because before the Ottawa management can, us fans will let him know about it.
