I dont think he will be scary good, I think your seeing the extent of what he can do, and remember he has Alfie on his line, that helps TREMENDOUSLY. When Alfie retires I wont be surprised if Turris dips in production a bit. But he's doing more than enough to be our 2C of the future. Tookie, please add this to the list of things you will have to admit being wrong on in the future. Turris will be much more then you imagine. He's the one often creating the chances for himself and his linemates and is always in the middle of the play. His chemistry with Alfie is nice, but I think he's rejuvenated Alfie and not the other way around. You really need to get excited about the team you claim to cheer for, because even with such a good year you're still fighting reality.

For all of you saying not to mess with our chemistry by trading anyone, I implore you to think of our backup. Imagine trying to go on the type of streak we're on now with Auld in net. Impossible. Regardless of what we thought when the season started, it's now our most glaring weakness. An injury to Michalek, Spezza, Alfie or Karlsson would be horrible, but Anderson getting injured would be an unmitigated disaster.

Depends on your definition of 'scary good', but in any case, it couldn't seem any more clear to me that you're wrong (it just seems obvious). Doesn't even look like Turris has fully matured yet physically, so that alone will mean he'll get better as he puts on a little more muscle. His play with and without the puck has been exceptional and I don't see why he can't continue to improve, maybe start shooting/gettin g into shooting position more.

The Devils made a move picking up Ponikarovsky from Carolina for Joe Sova and a 4th. Pony isn't a guy I think the Sens would be after, but that is the perfect example of picking up depth players at a low cost. A minor league D and a 4th is somewhere close to what I think BM would be ok moving for a depth forward. Now we know the type of player you can get for that price.

Let's give BM some credit for making a bold move that has made the Sens a legit contender. And also, have we had a goalie that has been hotter than Anderson? Ever?
Depth wins Stanley Cups, and right now the Sens have depth. Amazing first two lines, and amazing 3rd and 4th lines. Why try to fix something that isn't broken? If the playoffs started today I know the Sens would be one of the hardest team to beat, with Anderson red hot and the team scoring in bushels at will. The team is also as mentally tough as they come (thanks to Paulrus) and they get better as the game goes along (crucial in playoffs when everything gets tiring). This team is going places in the next 3 years.

In spite of what Murray has said in recent interviews, he has to know that if a deadline deal is to be made, it should be for a defensive/shutd own-style D-man. We've got our PMD's/PP QB's already (Karlsson/Kuba/ Gonchar) and one of the highest scoring offenses in the league- our issue thus far has been keeping pucks out of the net. Unfortunately I don't think Carkner/Lee will do it if we do plan to compete, and not just participate, in the playoffs. Grossman would be a solid pickup for sure. Not sure what the asking price may be (Lee/Regin + 4th?). Other options could include: - Joni Pitkanen (CAR)- asking price may be too high + injury concerns - Eric Brewer (TB)- has been decent with the Bolts this year, but lack of speed may not help - Tom Gilbert/Andy Sutton (EDM)- don't see much of them in the East but Gilbert is a fairly solid bottom pairing D-man and we know what Sutton brings - Hal Gill (MTL)- did great work for the Pens during their run(s) but a) not an ideal trading partner in MTL and b) has lost a few steps (if he ever had many to begin with) A-Train or Henrik Tallinder would be ideal for the role but I don't see New Jersey parting with them while they fight for playoff positioning.

I have a friend who works for the sens who says that every time she sees Turris he's walking around with a big smile on his face (that could be because my friend is pretty hot now I think about it). Turris seems excited to be in a hockey market with a passionate fan base and a coach that let's him play. I do think the labels whether its 1B centre or 2A or whatever aren't particularly helpful though and can be counter productive. We struggled with Fisher because we couldn't pigeonhole him effectively - i say let Turris play aned flourish in the top 6. I couldn't care less what we call him. Not trying to pigeon hole him, just saying he's a stud in the making. Great trade! .. Rundblad who? haha

Don't like the injuries happening.. but at least it is before the All-Star break. I just hope no more injuries tomorrow. Those Ducks are big and mean. I'm on the bandwagon as a big NO for Hemsky. He is Havlat 2.0 -- lots of skill but gets injured easily. Ducks are not trading Ryan... I say IF they are healthy... Greening, Smith, Condra, and the rest of the Bingo boys are the kind of players you need going into the playoffs.. They have the experience of the Calder Cup run.. Just let the players that are now with the team.. run with it. Murray did his trade to get Turris.. which has turned into a great trade so far.

I was definitely in the wait and see camp on the Turris trade but his play is certainly convincing a lot of people to forget what was given up to get him.

SENS RULE!!! What an awesome game for Anderson and the team. I think Anderson is showing he may actually belong in that 2nd tier of goalies right behind the elite 5. The tier that seems to take a month or two at the start of every season to get their legs under them and then can carry a team through the 2nd half. I can only hope this continues for the rest of the season. How many more games is it going to take till we start referring to Turris as our 1B center instead of 2nd line center! This kid is amazing, has great game sense and enough grit to not get pushed around. It's great that we are all seeing the depth and skill that BM has put together here, and with every win against an elite team I get a bit closer to dreaming about a run for the cup ... still too early, but it's getting close! GO SENS GO!!!

I played with Boro in Smiths Falls and can tell you we should all be excited about him being a Senator, the fan base is going to fall in love with him over the next few years. I see him as a Kevin Bieksa type player in 3-5 years for us. My 2 cents on the trade deadline: Really hope Murray doesn't mortgage the future for a Bobby Ryan or Ales Hemsky. I would love to see us pluck Ray Whitney out of Phoenix. Guy can still play, he's 39, UFA at seasons end and a LW. I think we could get him relatively cheap.

What part of I said I didn't agree with it didn't you understand? Yes being 8th year season ticket holder here I have caught a game or 2 of his. very well but only the brodeur's and roy's truly dominate at every level. last year up until the playoffs Lehner was hated, but took the team from 0-3 to the calder cup. Before that was considered one of the top goalies in the ohl where he played a single season on a subpar team But before you state he's mailing it in assume everyone on this board is from Ottawa, and have only heard and seen his success's . I myself live in Potsdam new york. Went to a wedding recently in Wilkes-Barre and managed to catch a game on the way down. I thought he looked great! then again I haven't been a season ticket holder for 8 years so what do I know?

I had wondered that myself, Lehner hasn't performed the way Bingo was hoping. However, we are basing his expected performance (which we all know isn't good this season, 6 13 1) after an amazing playoff and Calder Cup win last season. In last years regular season he had 10 W's, 8 L's and 2 OTL's but they also had a pretty stacked team in front of him. This season, Bingo has lost a few key pieces, moving on to other teams or to the Sens. I'd like to see them go back to Lehner for a good stretch prior to the end of the season, incase they want to bring him up to the big club for the playoffs, if/when we make it. Not wishing or expecting anything to happen to Anderson, but I mentioned this before. Wouldn't it be something else if Lehner had to fill in for Anderson and carried the Sens all the way, just like he did in Bingo last year?? Now that would be something for the history books!!! Ok, getting ahead of myself, just throwing it out there. Ahem... now back to work. Go Sens Go!!!

Lehner will be the goalie, but he will be worked into it the proper way - similar to Rask in Boston. Rask is a world beater as it is right now, but he is still not the anointed #1, which means that if Thomas catches fire, its Thomas who occupies. Basically its always Thomas's job to lose. Similarly, it will be Anderson's job to lose once Lehner starts playing more regularly and starts to realize his potential. Don't forget Lehner has already gone through the winning grind of the Calder Cup and come out on top. The experience from winning the Calder last year is paying dividends through guys like Condra, Cowen, Smith, Greening, Daugavins. These guys have the taste fresh in their mouths and im sure its motivating them on the big club.

I for one will not blame Lehner. with Noeson, Puemple, Pageau , and others joining next year along with a singing or two over the summer Look to Lehner to be #1 next year and for a better product to be on the ice.

Wow, only asked a simple question regarding our future #1 goalie, did not expect anyone to go from future #1, to "forget Lehner, he will not be our number one for the next 6 years, and we better draft another one this year" Not sure but after winnnig the Calder Cup and the best playoff performer last year, I am not that quick to give up on him, albeit you are 100% accurate on Anderson, he is for real.

Just to point out Ales Hemsky finished 11th in playoff scoring in 05-06 when the Oilers made it to the Stanley Cup finals with 17 points (6 goals (4 on the PP), 11 assists) in 24 games. So not only does he know what it takes to get to the finals, I bet that he would die to get back there just like Spezza, Alfie, Philips and Gonchar this year. And regarding Lehner, what makes you think he will ever be Ottawa's #1 goalie. Anderson is only 30 years old, has three more years left on his contract after this year and if he really is this fucking good why would Ottawa not resign him when he's 34. Seriously, if there's one position in the NHL where there will always be plenty to choose from its the goalie position. If Ottawa does finish in the top 8 in the league this year, we'll be picking between 20-30th overall, so much for any top forwards or defence, so if people are so bent on goalies then simply pick the best available goalie in this years draft.

in all of our positive comments on how wonderful our team and all our prospects are doing, I have to say I am a little concerned as to what is happenning to Lehner. McKenna seems to be outplaying him right now, and he seems to be struggling most of this year. Anyone know what is going on with Lehner and his game? A little bit of a concern, in a world of positives right now

I have a world of respect for Ryan Smyth but his heart is in Edmonton. Playoff warrior or not it would seem real douchey to acquire him and them have him run back to Edmonton the first chance he got. *shrugs* I do agree with you, but I truly believe he is a warrior, that would welcome another shot at the cup, and then going back home to retire... I have no worries that he would come in, fit in, and bust his nuts, trying to win Ottawa a cup,

The answer is we've never really had a legit 2LC. Bonk, Vermette, Fisher were all close, but we've never really had a threatening 2LC in our modern history. Agreed about Smith. When you don't see a hit coming like that, it really whips you back. Must be a concussion. And I would like to chime in on the Winchester HIT, This is the NHL, and most these guys have eyes in the back of their head, I really question these type of collisions, and cannot help but think that if Winchester really wanted to he could have softened the collision, he was the one who should have seen the collision coming, and IMO, lowered the shoulder as opposed to trying to miss it,
