You're right man. But you know how the little fan boys are in this town right? If and when Turris lights it up idiots like N8ball all gonna jump on his bandwagon and will soon forget about Rundblad. Turris now has a heavy load on his shoulders and must prove critics and fanboys I sure as hell will not align myself with a bunch of teenage wimps from high school downing every player they don't seem to like and eventually run them out of town. If I wanted that I would've stayed a Habs fan. Well said, This is what I was trying to convey in an earler post on Topic before this one . AlfieForMayor11 was jumping all over my statement about the young and whiny whippersnappers that I was tearing apart because of their lack of patience etc....

Wow, did the fans ever BLOW UP over this. True Turris hasn't proved anything... but news flash... nor did Rundblad. They are both very young with tones of upside. If he pans out (which he probably will), Turris gives us 4 really legit top 6 forwards (Alfy, Spezza, Mechalek and Turris). Keep in mind, Turris was touted as a top line center (compared to Gretzky at some point), so if he ends up being just a great second line center, we are still VERY well off. Rundblad didnt look nearly as good as Karlsson did in his first year and he could end up being just as much of a bust.

It will be interesting to watch how this one pans out. My initial reaction was disappointment. However, if two years ago BM traded the 17th overall pick and a second round pick for the previous year's 3rd overall pick, who was a potential first overall, I would have thought it was a great trade. Runblad has a lot of potential and so does Turris. Turris just has his potential in a position at witch the organization needs help, compared to needing a puck moving defenceman. Turris has all the tools, but has only had limited lower line minutes in a less than ideal situation in Phoenix. I hope we don't regret this move. I think the Sens are a better team with Turris as 2nd line centre than they were with Runblad playing low minutes making 1 nice pass or rush to every three blunders. Hopefully it turns out the Sens are better for it over the long term.

The real difficulty with this deal is that Ottawa is sending away a potential star player who wanted to be here for a spoiled brat who has proved nothing like Turris. This organization should have learned it's lesson with Heatley. If it doesn't work out the organization will be embarrassed. However this is a clear silver lining in this deal. The Senators organization quite obviously expects Cowen-Karlsson to be an elite top pairing for years to come. When we drafted Cowen I don't think the organization expected much of him offensively. It's now becoming a reality that he could be anywhere from a 5G-25PT defender to a 10G-40+PT guy. We're going to have to pay those two a lot and they will play 25-30 minutes a night. There are only so many power-play minutes to go around. We have other good prospects who can fill 2nd/3rd pairing roles and will draft more. The real question is why now. Rundblad would probably have been worth more in 2 years. Huge gamble on Turris being a star.

Listen, it's not a case of fans not wanting to "roll the dice in life". But there is a time and place for everything. If the end of last season and this year was all about a "REBUILD", then why make this move? Listen to Murray - her sounds like he's trying to make the playoffs, which isn't a bad thing, but don't change your gameplan in December to do so...They say Defence wins championships, so we give up what looks to be our third best blueliner of the near future for...an underachiever who may need a change of scenerey to produce? a guy who quit on the team that drafted him? a player who's as much a gamble as Filitov was? I'm just dissapointed that BM gave up on the gameplan of a rebuild - now we are the Leafs, who think they can make the playoffs, just miss out, and take themselves out of a good draft pick...

We are in great shape as a team, Rundblad as much as I liked his potential we have lots of good D guys ready now and a few in the system ready later. We may miss him in a few years but impact today is negligible. Offence for the future we have Turris Zibby Filatov Silverburg Petersson and our first rounder this year, all top 6 potential. Foligno Regin Winchester Konopka contracts all expire this year, foligno has shown up so far, the others I would not miss. You can't trade garbage to get good players, you have to give to get. The second was the cost to get the deal done, we are not starving for prospects, second round picks. It is a roll of the dice and we will get more picks at the trade deadline, more prospects, this one is not do or die for us. (second round pick.) Welcome Turris Go Sens Go

Do you notice some similarity in the way a "threat" is handled by PM. First you have Fialtov and his KHL threat - he ends up sitting and sitting in the NHL before going bye bye. Then you have Runbland and his SEL threat, with very little TOI, before going bye bye. Would have been interesting to see how PM handled the Heatley fiasco - just wondering. That PM liked Turris's play in the playoffs speaks volumes - and means he will get TOI to prove himself. Here is hoping we can finally field a decent 2nd line

I was not a Rundblad fan this year in the NHL. His play and stats prove he could not play at this level now. But WTF is Murray thinking, WTF has Turris done other than proving he is worse than Filatov. I can just see it now, we give him one game in top 6, then 6 games on the 4th line, then sit him... he bitches and wont go down to Bingo and we trade him for a 7th pick!!! There must be more to the story than people know... there has to be I cannot believe Murray is that stupid. I beleive as I have stated before, that PM and BM, have asked Rundblad to go to Bingo, and he threatened to go back to SEL, if we did so, b/c he would not be on our top 6 otherwise. PM likes Lee and Carkner, likes what we have in Bingo, and decides we will not let this kid put a gun to our head. there is not other way to make sense of this stupid trade For the record, I do not know Turris, but right now he is below Filatov in my books Please prove me wrong!

Let's give Turris a chance, since this was a prospect for prospect trade. Having been at the Pitt game last night, Rundblad only got a little more than 4 min. TOI, and had little impact in the Sens win. Ottawa does need help offensively, so this smight be one of those "have to give to get" trades. KJ

As someone who was really tired of Runblad's "Brilliant Skill" (see: giveaways and breakaways given up), I see this as a no-win, no-lose trade. Turris will be at worst, one of our other 3rd/4th liners. At best, top 6. And we can afford that 2nd round pick since we were over stacked at last years draft.
Gryba is a Anton Volchenkov type player, Mark Borowiecki looks like he is going to be amazing, Patrick Weirchoich is doing great in the AHL, Gryba and Boro have played very well considering the weakness of the team. Gryba is amazing at getting the puck to his player in his offensive zone. He looks very good in the offensive zone as well, mobile and seems to find the shooting lanes. When Bingo uses the defence they do much better. Boro is good in both ends as well. Wiercioch is OK on the PP he's never used on the PK. He is very soft on the boards compared to Gryba and Boro. I would like to see what Gryba can do on the PP as he seems to have good vision and an accurate shot. My gut feeling is that Gryba will move at the end of the season so I don't think you can count him into future plans.

Now that I think of it maybe there's something we don't know. Don Maloney isn't an unfair prick. There had to have been a reason as to why 8 teams were seriously interested and the asking price was so high. If Maloney wasn't going to part with Turris for less seeing how badly the kid wanted out, he has to be that good. Maybe Maloney does believe that a change of scenery would allow this kid to be the player he can. Hopefully this is true. If he can produce and this team can make the playoffs, we can call this trade a success. If not; Rundblad and a second. Damn. The epitome of high risk, high reward I guess.

San Jose has Havlat, who they got back from Heatley. actually, ottawa still has cheechoo, on the books. was kind of an anchor last year when we were right up against the cap and couldnt make an improvement trade to save our lives. This is a good trade. rebuild doesnt mean wait 5-7 years and hope that every one of your picks pans outs. it means sell your assets, stockpile, and try to improve from there. obviously Murray felt that Turris was a step up from rundblad, if you disagree thats fine, but the facts are we were lacking a centre, and had too many defencemen. Next year, when Kuba is gone, Murray will trade a forward prospect for a top 4 defencemen. you've been warned.

He was the last guy on the ice every day, he coasted through drills, and he failed to stand out at any given time. Then the comments about heading back to Sweden if he wasn't going to make the team came near the end of training camp. Your indignant emotional outburst is an overreaction, that's all I'm trying to say. Murray gave up a good prospect at a position Ottawa is strong at for a good prospect at a position that Ottawa is weak at. I'd of been a lot happier if there wasn't a 2nd rounder included (but at the same time I acknowledge that Maloney wanted a 1st and Zbad so talking him down to this makes it not so bad)....so I'll wait and see before I call for Murray's head

Its a different league where offence comes first. There is no hard forecheck which makes it easy to play whereas the NHL is the opposite.
Everyone saying "BUT WE HAVE ZIBANEJAD!!!" is off their rocker. Can never have too many potential second line centers. Best case scenario, they both play well, produce and maybe one plays wing or we roll 3 scoring lines. Or, one plays well and one doesn't and then it's a good thing we got both so we got one producer out of it. This way all their eggs aren't in one basket. The issue with the trade is losing such a good prospect in Rundblad! So mad about that.

And what if Rundblad never gets any better??? Dude, you are FREAKING OUT. Settle down. It's a trade of potential for potential, but it also addressed a need for the Senators. Honestly, I'll take Cowen and his 28 minutes a night of solid hockey in ALL ZONES over the potential of Rundblad. Ottawa needed a 2nd line C, because you can be sure as hell that Regin is no #2. So move on. I'm betting that PHX tries to assign Rundblad to the AHL, and at that point Rundblad bolts back to the SEL. He doesn't look happy at all playing in the NHL. Something weird about his attitude....

Is everyone forgetting that Turris is 1(ONE) year older than Rundblad? A lot of people are acting like the guy is 35! Add to this, the fact that calling Rundblad the next Lidstrom or a future norris winner or whatever is pretty ridiculous. Yes, the guy has talent, but there are a lot of players that you have probably never heard of in other systems that have a lot of talent, but aren't playing in our system giving you a chance to watch their youtube videos. Rundblad could certainly end up being a fantastic player in the NHL, sure, or he could not. Turris could end up being a fantastic player too, or he could not. That's the nature of swaping young players. I don't think that this trade changes anything in terms of our playoff expectations; if we make it, great, but let's all relax and continue enjoying a surprisingly successful and entertaining season!

Seriously folks. What's with the tears? Rundblad has NOT been a stud. He has 4 points and is a -11 this year. He's an absolute liability in his own zone AND he's not delivering the offence as was expected. He lit suckers up in the SEL, but the ice is smaller here, and his moves don't seem to work. He might be a stud in the future, but so might Turris. I just hope those folks who are killing this trade will be willing to admit they were wrong if Turris ends up becoming a star. One thing is certain though, he's got a ton of potential. Let's not forget that he led a gold-medal winning WJC team in scoring. That's even more impressive when you realize that some of his teammates were Stamkos, Tavares, and Giroux. Give the kid a chance. Oh, and stop crying.

this is tough to take. to judge Rundblad in his first 30 games is not fair. in 3 or 4 years he is going to be one of the best. His defense will improve. However the return isnt the best we could have got but isnt exactly terrible. Turris will fit in well in Ottawa and now we have an abundence of centremen which isnt a bad problem to have. This makes us better today for sure but I can't help to think this could really sting 3 years from now. Turris is going to have to be better than anyone expected for this to be a good deal for the sens long term. There will be a ridculous amount of pressure on Turris and I really hope he delivers. I definitely think he is capable but I also think he was a bad draft by Pheonix at 3rd overall. probably not what you'd expect from a typical 3rd overall pick.

If we make the playoffs that's great, but we shouldnt be making deals to try and get us there. Fuck I'm still in such disbelief. At least he traded Rundblad West so that when he's a top 10 dman we only play him twice a year.

why is there pressure to make the playoffs? we gave away a young prospect for another young prospect with more experience. the second round pick is something i didnt like but ottawa has an extra 3rd from nashville. i still find this a not bad trade

As a fan of the Ottawa Senators, I will now put my full support behind Kyle Turris. In the same breadth, as a fan, my expectations for Kyle Turris are now extremely high. It has to be. In order for this trade to justify itself, Turris will have to over-perform. When you give up the best defense prospect in all of hockey AND a second round pick, the only way this trade will make sense is if Turris plays better than he’s supposed to. The return that Phoenix got is too great. So while, as a fan, I will forget the failed expectations and attitude problems that this young man has had, we have to realize that it is fair for Sens fans to expect A LOT.
