“Yeah,” he said, he thought it was unfair. “I think anybody I’ve played hockey with will tell you that’s not true. Obviously with being traded a few times in my career and probably not the smoothest trades in history, things like that are going to get said. But I feel like I’ve always been a good teammate and someone guys want to play with.” Thats what dany heatley just said in an article on his trade to minnesota. You gotta be joking in the last 2 sentances

@Tyrant... i remember you rambling on about how Mark Stone would always be a bad skater and that it was an issue of genetics etc. is quote from Randy Lee is for You..... Director of player development Randy Lee said if Stone’s skating catches up with his scoring touch, he has got a great future. “He’s a below-average skater and he knows it,” said Lee. “So he knows there are things he has got to work on. “And we told him there are a lot of guys here with skating limitations and they thought they couldn’t get better. But they can. They can improve. “People think, ‘Oh, that’s just what they are.’ But no, it’s not a handicap if you’re willing to work at it.”

I would disagree, the Wild have one hell of a nice team coming up. Not only did they fleece SJ in the Setoguchi trade, now they have a top line sniper to play with Koivu. The Wild had a great draft aswell, add Coyle (beast!!) from SJ and they have a nice crop of top 6 talent (Bouchard, Gillies, Brodin and Z.Phillips). I would imagine their top 6 loks like this: Setoguchi Koivu Heatley Latendresse/Mie ttenen Bouchard Kassian/Gillies Lots of option and a pretty nice top 6! Heatley can't skate... he has no desire to improve himself in the off-season. I wonder if his ego took a hit with this trade. Just think he also has to play 3 games each in Edm, Van & Cal where he is not liked very much.

You really think Heatley's problem for the last half decade has been motivation? He's a 1 way player that demands and expects 2 way TOI. Luckily for them Minnesota is full of playmakers that might be able to give him those empty net 1 timers, but I hope they just hang at the bottom of the standings for the rest of his career. I used to like Minnesota, not anymore!

Both players should do well in their new buildings. Heatley is the star for Wild fans and should get lots of minutes. They are very passionate fans in Minny with a loud building. If Heater can get motivated he could do very well. Havlat on the other hand has some pressure taken off of him as he will play second fiddle to Jumbo Joe and Marleau. If Marty gets to use his speed and go up against the second lines of other teams, he should potentially flourish. I can see this trade working out for both teams.

I strongly disagree with you Tookie. Koivu is a poor man's 1st line C, Heatley is only good in 1 aspect of the game, Setoguchi still has lot to learn about consistency and fits better on a 2nd line until he does, and Bouchard is pretty injury prone, but plays well when healthy. They have a bunch of 2a type players, no true 1st line players. I would take Ottawa's lineup and depth in a minute over Minnesota's!

He already voided it when he wanted to get traded to san jose, or when he didnt waive to go to edmonton. He only was allowed to void it once and that was on that occasion, now he is able to be traded anywhere without him having to waive his ntc. I'm happy this dick got what he deserved but i think Minnisota is better since koivu actually has someone to feed the puck to Sorry...but you are WRONG about the NTC/NMC. Heatley still had to waive it to be traded from SJ to Minny. An NTC/NMC doesn't get voided by exercising that option. IF it did, then we could have traded Redden after he invoked his NTC. An NTC/NMC stays in effect until the expiration of the contract or the expiration of the terms that an NTC/NMC was agreed upon.

Heatley didn't have to wave anything, No trades don't go away because you waived it once to be traded to another team. What does happen is they may change over time but this depends how it is structured at signing. Since the Hossa to Atlanta incident no trades have gone up drastically but in this case B. Murray was smart enough to give Heatley a modified no trade after the first few years but he obviously didn't considered the baby would request a traded during the first year of the contract. One interesting thing to consider is Spezza might have the same stipulation, so the Sens might be able to trade him to any team not on a 10 team list.

What this proves to me are two things: 1) A limited NMC significantly improves the potential return on a player. There were 19 teams that Heatley could be traded to, which improves the return that Wilson could get. Sadly, Murray never had this option, is was SJ or SJ or SJ. 2) Heatley either didn't see this coming, or he asked for a trade in private and kept it out of the media. Regardless, the stories about the trade didn't get out, which also improved the return. If Heatley is worth Havlat now, he would have been worth a ton more back when the Senators moved him. Very sad in hindsight that all Murray was able to get of any value was Michalek. If Michalek is able to get back to 60pts this year, then I'm ok with it, but unless that happens, Ottawa still came out big losers in that trade, and that is Heatley's fault. So fuck him.

The Kassian you mentioned is Matt Kassian, not Zach Kassian (Buffalo drafted Zach). Matt's best year in juniors he scored 17 points in 72 games, not exactly top- six material. And have you looked at the Minnesota defense without Burns? Pretty sad indeed. Don't count on seeing Heatley in the playoffs anytime soon.
