Thank for clearing that up Hax, it's just seems a little off that a guy like butler is getting a Q.O. While Greening got a 3 Year deal. As many of us have stated penciling in Butler on our top line it's odd that Murray offers what we need most (offensive talent) an QO and Greening and no offense to him he'll probably Have a great season but like I said Butler should of gotten a deal.

I think it was RL (could have been TM) who said on the TEAM 1200 today that some players fans may expect to see here for this camp are not here because there is no room.
- Asides from the fact that its a prospect development camp, Greening, Condra and Butler are not there because they need to recover from the very long season they just had. 100+ games for those guys. Expect some residual fatigue starting the season.. - I worked on contract with Randy and the Sens for close to 5 years in strength and conditioning. Randy and the rest of the staff used to rave about Emery too. For a goalie, he too was a beast. - Prediction: In 6 years, Ottawa and Edmonton face off for the Stanley Cup. Canadians in general will still favour Edmonton. Because of Lehner, we will spank their sissy asses.

He was surprised about the trade, but excited about moving to the Eastern conf, Chesnokov feels like his game is suited more for the east. Chesnokov thinks the change of scenery is going to help with his mentality that he can live up to be a top 6 forward and certainly believes that he possesses that skill and it was coaching/psycho logical that ultimately failed him in Columbus.

I think the Senators T6F projections will be very interesting to watch over the next couple years. It'll become especially intense if we are a bottom feeder again next year and draw into the top two. Spezza, Michalek, Butler, and Zibanejad should all be top six forwards for a long time after the latter two establish themselves over the next two seasons. Alfie holds down a spot until he retires or his health completely fades. Just making fair projections one of Puempel, Noesen, or Filatov will almost certainly become a top six forward in Ottawa for an extended pariod of time over the next three years. Ignoring Alfie that basically leaves one T6F spot for the rest of this group to fight over in the future. Should result in excellent competition going forward. It's not the ideal situation but Ottawa is starting to build some depth and potential to have four 60+ point players in the top six eventually.

Also mentioned that Colin Greening is the most impressive "physical specimen" since Chara left. Pretty high praise for Greening!

@Hax Nice try, but... Columbus, having ruined any confidence the player had with their incompetence, decides they don't want the player any longer. Or, Filatov said "I've had enough comrade, trade me now", either way. Columbus was likely looking to trade the player to the opposite conference. They then need to find a team that is looking to acquire Top 6 talent, while still taking on a player with a $2 million plus pricetag. Ottawa fits all those criteria, not too mention Ottawa and Columbus seem to have a pretty good relationship to begin with. To say that Ottawa traded a 3rd round pick for him means that Filatov has a bad attitude is rather shortsighted, and quite frankly based on nothing but assumptions. The kid has done everything asked of him, just for whatever reason (being rushed to the NHL?), it hasn't worked out for him yet. P.S. Sad to see the characters per post hasn't been changed. Makes the quote button useless.

Hi Eveyone, I've been a fan of Nikita Filatov since he was drafted and have suffered through the past 3 years. I hated the Blue Jackets before he was drafted but I REALLY hate them now. Dumb chumps. All I want to say is that everyone should keep an open mind and let Filatov get comfortable enough to relax here. He's terrified to make a mistake. I don't know what Zherdev did to Columbus, but from day 1 it was like they were trying to get back at him through Filatov or something.

While I agree with your post in general and also agree that many posters here are getting too worked up, it's a fact that his reputation is that he's not committed to the NHL game. That's why CLB was willing to give up on him for our 3rd round pick. That's why no other clubs offered more. NOT saying he can't totally succeed here - I hope he does. But I wouldn't say that concerns over his attitude are completely unfounded.

All good points. To further emphasize that, how about the guys drafted the year BEFORE Filatov that people think will be stars, yet haven't found their way in the league yet. It was only this past year that James Van Riemsdyk and Logan Couture found their way. If Filatov develops at that same rate, then he'll come into his own next year. WAYYYYY too early to try and call this kid a bust, and despite what guys like Garrioch want you to believe, this is not a gamble.

i attended today's development camp. must say it was pretty entertaining. to me, no body stood out too much specifically but the guys that gave me the biggest surprise and impression were prince and claesson(sp?). they had a 1 on 1 drill and claesson was on offence and he actualy had some really nice moved beat the D man then deked the goalie. i was standing about 15 feet away from the scouts and BM and TM. and as claesson pulled of the moves, all of their faces lit up in joy and they laughed. i also saw foligno, he showed up at arround 2:30 and he went on the other ice rink and practice with puempel. puempel was practicing alone since i assume he is still not allowed to take part in a contact practice. was pretty cool to see foligno decide to go help puempel practice.

Nikita Filatov was thrown into the NHL as an 18 year old, by a know nothing NHL franchise in Columbus. The kid said (in perfect English in case you didn't know) from the day he was drafted, even before, that he wanted to play in the NHL. If he's a bust, or has a bad attitude, then I guess Cody Hodgson, Colin Wilson, Mikkel Boedker, Josh Bailey, Kyle Beach, Zach Boychuk, Mathias Tedenby, and Joe Colburne do too. That's because they've done nothing in the NHL either, nor should they as they are only 21 years old. In fact, most are still top prospects that have yet to crack the NHL roster full-time. Yet, Filatov has been messed around with by a desperate Columbus team for the last 3 years. All you people that say Filatov has a bad attitude, don't know shit, and you should be ignored. Have a nice day.

So overall, players that stood out for me in particular were; Rundblad (pounding guys on the 2 vs 2 drill, great poise with the puck) Silverberg (was flying during drills, great shot) Prince (Smooth as silk, great hands) Zibby (Bigger than he looks, he's got tree trunks for legs, great shot, great skater, big motor) Stone (skating was ok, but he can shoot the puck, protects the puck perfectly along the halfwall) and Noesen (This guys was a pleasant surprise, he was good at pretty much everything but stood out in picking his shots, this guy is a sniper!) Oh and Blood is HUUUUGGEEE!!!

^^^ Agreed. Forget about the fact that he's Russian, forget about the fact that he's had a lot of problems breaking into the league. I say give Filatov enough rope, and he'll either tie a knot or hang himself. But let him come in here with a clean slate and do what he does. This trade has the potential to be a major success for the Senators, so let's not kill the guy or assume he's going to be a jerk before he even gets here. If he ends up that way, fine, but judge him based on what he does going forward, not on what he's done to this point.

He pushed some guys around, looks to be a good passer, strong moves, all around I was impressed. Best shot at camp by far was Caporusso, hard and accurate. Lyamin looked fat to me, but he was pushing guys around easily, probably because he's older and more experienced than everyone there. Still, I thought he looked pretty good. And there was some asshole standing behind me the entire time, verbally analyzing everything every player did. I'm sure he really thought he sounded like he knew what he was talking about, but he definitely did not. I'm pretty sure it was Tookie.
Do you think that maybe Filatov wants to meet the coaching staff, management, training staff. To find out what they want him to do in way of preparation for next season. Get to meet some potential teammates? Why such a negative thought process to this. If he really does want to make it in the NHL.. this could be his last opportunity. Columbus failed with Filatov, Zherdev, Brule.. Is it their drafting was no good? or their development? Grabner did not succeed in Vancouver or Florida.. but he sure as hell did with the Islanders. Maybe he will try his best with this 2nd chance. Also do you think with all of these teams that need to get to the cap floor... Sens maybe able to trade Kuba? I think Gonchar stays... they may need him to help with Filatov.
