I want to see Landeskog put on a Sens jersey tonight! B'Mur... Don't ruin my b-day. As for Cameron's hiring, I have no issue with him being the coach, he is more than qualified and seems like a good person. The only issue surrounding this guy is how he was hired. If PM made the decision, great. If Melnyk stepped in - we have problems.

Here's my take about Cameron; any coach that can bring their team to the finals must have some talent and can't be that bad of a coach. Regardless who hired him; I believe working with Maclean and Reed might be the experience that he needs to make that next step to become that elite assistant or head coach in the future. Similar to situation with Mike Babcock and Paul Maclean.

@Patrick I agree for the most part, I'm not saying MacLean hates the guy (because I have no idea), maybe it's just an appearance thing. It doesn't look the greatest to me that's all. I'm not trying to say Cameron is a bad coach, either. To me it looks like hiring the boss' nephew for that summer intern job. Maybe the nephew was the most qualified person, but it certainly looks like he was hired because of the connection, whether he's the most qualified or not. But you're right about MacLean, he doesn't seem to be the kind of person that would take shit, at the same time this is his first head coaching job and he might be more prone to go along with it for now at least. Either way, I'm very happy with the current coaching staff and think it's a huge improvement over what they had last season.

Right, now if only Paul MacLean had been living in a bubble for the last several years and didn't know the relationship between Cameron and Melnyk. I'm not saying Melnyk called MacLean and told him to pick Cameron, but it's pretty obvious that a subtle hint of Murray throwing in Cameron's name was enough for MacLean to get the idea. At the end of the day I'm happy with MacLean as head coach, I'm just hoping having Cameron on there is not going to be a source of friction down the road when people view him as Melnyk's guy on the staff.

They received 6 assets for 2 players, 4 of which (Vorecek, Schenn, Simmonds and 8th overall are going to be good NHLers. They also got rid of two really long contracts. That being said, they are taking a huge risk on Bryzgolov. That contract has buyout written all over it...

By all accounts C.'s compete level was not good to the point that the Sens Management and scouting staff walked out of the Guertin arena during a Drummonville playoff game with 10 minutes to go while they were fighting for their lives. C. had not played well and was not competing hard. 3. Dave Schreiber's comment to a blog contributor that he knew the Sens were not high on C. That said, they got that pick from the Carter deal, which more or less voids that argument.
I can't explain it but I just think that RNH is very over rated. He has bust written all over him. Landeskog will never be a 5 million dollar + player. He is literally going to be a Mike Fisher or Mike Richards at best. He dominates the OHL because he hit puberty when we was like 5 so he has already fully developed. Once he plays against other physically developed players in the NHL he will not be nearly as effective. Couturier has the highest ceiling for me because he has the highest goal - point ratio and is not even fully developed. If we grab him at 6 we should be thanking the hockey gods.

Actually Philly can pick Hamilton @ 8 and be fine on defense. Cobourn, Meszaros, Carle are all coming into their prime. Pronger and Timonen will be around and effective for 2-3 years. Schenn can be moved to the wing; the C -> W transition is common enough for talented junior players with strong skating. This is a ballsy play to be sure, as both players leaving were great, but the Flyers now have high quality competition for places on scoring lines with JvR, Voracek, Leino (should he sign), *and* a top tier goaltender. They are a contender.

The problem with your argument with Schenn is that he no longer has free pass into a second line center role that he had in LA. Even without Richards and Carter, Schenn is going to be competing with Giroux and Briere. Schenn slides into a third line center role - he's going to get Hodgesoned. The deal makes little sense for LA because now they have a thin prospect cupboard up front. The deal makes NO sense for Philly because they need D prospects to prepare for life without pronger and timonen. Philly should have been pushing for someone like Hickey instead of Simmonds. Philly will be drafting a D-man with the 8th pick - almost a lock

I am so pumped for tomorrow its not even funny. Like I have said before on here a friend of mine's dad works with Ottawa and apparently the sens want Cutourier really bad.. they are even willing to trade up a spot or two to get him. I for one hope the sens do land Cutourier because I think he has the highest potential out of all the picks. Just my opinion. I have been pro Cutourier all year so I am not about to change now. Bring on tomorrow :)

I don't expect to see a trade up. RNH, Larsson, Huberdeau, and Landeskog have separated themselves enough that I can't see the teams in front not taking them. Put yourselves in the situation. You step up to the podium at 3rd/4th overall about to take Huberdeau/Lande skog. Do you trade down for an extra 2nd rounder only to take Couturier who you don't favour quite as much? Probably not. Couturier has dropped on most peoples boards for a reason. There is a big enough gap that I'll be surprised if someone moves down for less than a kings ransom that isn't worth paying.

The Sens have their list. People want to prognosticate about what they think they need, but only the Sens Scouts know what they want. As good as Sens Prospects are on D, Murphy is a bonafide steal of a offensive Defenseman. Don't forget that Sens aren't ncessarily drafting for next year. They are drafting for the future, and it may be cliche, but "you can never have enough good defenseman". Not saying they are picking him, but the kid is freeakin' good. KJ

I would take Jordan Staal in a heart beat. The kid is 22, and has been burried behind 2 of the top players in the league. He flourished with more time last year and I think you'll see he'll easily be a 60+pt player in the near future. He put up 30pts in 42games last year and at 22 is already one of the best penalty killers. Ya Jordan Staal's sick. 30 points in 42 games coming back from a brutal injury he was great. If he played on the second line for Pitt he would have 20+ extra points every year easily. Johne mentioned how he's looking for explosive offense and is tired of 2 way forwards, yet wants Landeskog smh.

I think theres far too many BAP on the board to take Murphy at 6, but maybe they're going to try and move the 21st pick up to grab him? I think Ryan Murphy would be them trying to posture. He's exactly what they don't need. If they wanted Ryan Murphy, they'd have worked further on the Karlsson & 6th for the 1st pick and grab RNH. Tim Murray said Karlsson is not going anywhere, so I doubt you'd want them both on the same team ... would u? Plays a great two way game, wins faceoffs, creates offense, bit of a power forward game, scores goals. He's sick. When he came back from injury he was the catalyst.
