Commenting only. I'll be on the bus :) I too noticed the tight timelines. Realistically leaving Barrhaven at 1:30, with no extra stops and a respectable stop at customs with bus that won't be speeding much puts you in Bingo optimistically at 6:30pm (5 hours) You can do it in just over 4 hours if you're pushing the speed just a little (118 km/hr in CAN, 72 mph in USA) and managed to breeze through customs. With a big bus though, I'm sure it likely would be a 30 mins stop at customs? Anyway... all that to say, you should consider shifting your departure times up a little. But, tough to accomodate everything I'm sure. The game wlil be great! Thanks for putting this together!!!

@JABsmilez I agree that a player like parise would bring us up a tier but he would also want to play for a playoff contending team as well. I don't know why I am considered sad for seeing a Parise signing from both an organizational and player prespective. If you were Parise and you have 30 teams to choose from I doubt Ottawa would be even in your top 10. We don't have a #1 LW, 2nd Line Center, 2nd line RW, 1st line RW (In a few years or if Alfie can't play) and our defence is a combination of some promising young talent and overpaid garbage. Ottawa might be a respectable organization but we just finished a massive firesale so players will also consider that as well.

"Ottawa's not going anywhere for a while"..so he should go play for STL? ...OK! The future looks bright for Ottawa and I think most NHLers can see that. I dont think we'll have any issues with offer sheeting players. from what I've heard, we run a very classy organization. I wouldn't downplay STL seeing how they have David Perron, Berglund, Backes, Oshie, Stewart, Halak and Pietrangelo. Injuries killed them this year and they play in a very tough confrence. They're not very far away from realistcally being a constant playoff team.

The Sens are able to get the tickets for free I assume and the bus at a discount. I assure you we are doing this at the minimum cost we can charge. We are making no profit off this trip and may end up losing a little bit. It's actually a little frustrating that the Sens recognized this as a good idea and then did their own version. Would have been nice if they promoted our trip but I guess they decided against that. Ah well. Any other questions feel free to email me. Hope to see you on Saturday!

Just a quick question. The Sens are putting together pretty much the same trip that you guys are but for less then half the price. How can you explain such a price difference? Here is the email I got the other day from the Sens: "The Binghamton Senators have made it all the way to the Calder Cup Finals and we want you to be there for game #4 to cheer on the team! We have put together a special package exclusively for season-seat and suite owners. The package includes a return trip from Scotiabank Place on Friday, June 3 and a game ticket for only $45. Call Capital Tickets at 613-599-FANS (3267) to purchase your trip package. Don’t wait long, we have limited seats. Deadline to purchase a trip package is Monday, May 30 at 5 p.m."

I agree, CK, Campy, Kovy, Ells, Fish, Ruuts: "Were're trading you, but don't forget to tell everyone Ottawa is a great place to play," smart move : ) It would be funny if BM actually said something to them along those lines during the last talk... lol. But seriously, look what happened with all of them (except Elliott) they played (or are still playing) in the post season! so I bet some players have already noticed that without anyone having said anything to them, that and the way Ottawa played in the last quarter. Ottawa is defenitely an organization with class and respect for their players. I heard that Redden might just walk away from the contract himself.

As for why he'd choose Ottawa, you have to realize that any premiere player a la Parise, will instantly bring a team up a tier. So a non-playoff team, should become a playoff team, a playoff team should become a home ice advantage threat and a top 4 team becomes a contender. You can't ignore the immediate improvement of having that player makes. Also, playing with Spezza would be a dream for most high end wingers. It's sad that you consider yourself a sens fan but can't fathom a sales pitch that makes sense for this type of player. Ottawa is a way better destination then you are allowing for.

I'm assuming you used Capgeek's figures but forgot to look at how many players were signed by each team. The rangers have 4 mil more in cap space with 4 less players signed and Redden still in the minors, who they may finally buy out or come to an agreement with. Based on the average nhl salary, they're actually still behind the Sens. On top of the fact they have UFAs McCabe, Frolov, Prospal and RFAs Callahan, Dubinsky, Gilroy and a few other lower names. You have to look at the entire situation before summarizing that NYR are in a better cap position.

Thats what I've been saying all along and got shat on by people who didnt want to give up the 1st round picks. The fact that they are not this years 1st's, we should do this in a heartbeat. Not much coming up the junior ranks in the next 2 years so why not get an established 40 goal winger to play with Spezza. And if you think about it the SENS will be somewhat better next year with the guys we get in the draft along with Anderson, those 1st round picks will be mid to late 1st rounders anyways. Its a no brainer, you can rebuild in 1-2 years, just look at the Flyers. Parise Spezza Butler Landeskog Laich Alfie Foligno Shannon Greening Neil Smith Condra

That pretty much leaves Hitch, cause I def don't want Crawford and I don't think my most preffered guy (Larry Robinson) is coming or is even remotely interested in leaving NJ. A 1 year deal to feel out Hitch might be the best choices if you ask me. Impressive record. 534-350-88-70. Very respectable 126-123-36 last coaching with the CBJ, not exactly a team that was a "force in the NHL" but stayed over 500 none the less, even led them to the playoffs. His record with Philly is admirable, was fired after the Flyers started 1-6-1 in 06-07. Those same Flyers finished worst in the NHL that year with 56 points. And then his record with Dallas takes the cake, where he won his cup ring. But I wouldn't be opposed to Muller, Cunneyworth or even Rick Bowness lol. I would however be pissed if it was KK. BEEN THERE DONE THAT... Backfired horribly with you know who. Only 2 Farm coaches have coached the Sens: Clouston and Dave Allison, Nuff said.

Word from T Yost has BM very likely making a few moves at the draft. Hopefully he picks up someone who can consistently put the puck in the net and help Spezz reach the 60 - 70 assist mark again, along with guys like BB and a hopefully healthy Alfie ect. Yost also mentioned that he might send an offer sheet to T J Oshie. I remember during the "has been" Heatley saga, St. Louis backed out when BM asked for a package including Oshie. At the time I thought Oshie would be a good acquisition and now is no different, still very young, maybe the next Marty St. Louis. I still maintain BM should go after Marchand if he's thinking offer sheets. Or Ladd, and well if there are going to be some interest in that regard with Parise he better jump on that. A dream scenario would be if he could find a way to unload Gonch and get Weber, dreaming there. Please oh please don't bring in KK, I have been saying it for over a year! A ring, and NHL experience!

Callahan is the heart and soul of that team and a leader in the dressing room so I am pretty sure that they'll hold on to him especially because he is still pretty young (26). In terms of Parise, why would he play here? I don't mean to sound arrogant but this team is not going anywhere for a while so he would be a waste on this team and it would be a bad move for his career. STL, DET and especially NYR are actual realistic destinations for him to name a few. NYR has more cap than we do and there is a real possibility that sather will spend the money if he has leftover from resigning callahan which he should. STL has cap space as well and would love to have a Parise/Perron 1-2 punch. I could go on but there are a lot of teams that will fit parise better than Ottawa.

I agree NJ should get more if they trade him, but if they don't sign him in time this would be an awesome off-season. I'm still going to be amazed if they leave him available like that, but if they do I hope the sens at least try. Setoguchi is an interesting case. I'm still not sold on him being a 1st line player, so I'd probably agree more with your 1st (make it lottery protected) & 3rd route then 1st & Wiercioch, just because Wiercioch is likely only a year away and I have faith he will continue to develop in a positive way. Some other RFAs that I like and think may be available are Wheeler, Callahan (if NYR can't afford him), Stafford and Shirokov. Also if TJ Oshie were somehow available via trade I think he'd be ideal on the 2nd line, but not sure the Blues would be willing to part with him.

I would trade a 2012 first and Wiercioch for Setoguchi's rights. I would also offer sheet him 1st+3rd range. Parise is more difficult because I think other teams can put together better packages of drafts pick + NHL ready players than Ottawa can The new rules definitely favor an exciting off-season.
