Funny how people fail to mention that Huberdeau plays on the best team, by far, in the QMJHL. I think his stats are a little inflated based on that. I've watched the Q for a while and it's easily the worst of the three CHL leagues (OHL, WHL and QMJHL.) Huberdeau is not as good as the rest of the top 5 (RNH, Larsson, Landeskog, Couturier, Strome) or even Hamilton and Murphy. I really hope we don't end up picking him. Also people comparing him to Spezza...are you high? He's nothing like Spezza. If Huberdeau is Spezza then RNH is Gretzky, Couturier is Lemieux, Larsson is Orr and Landeskog is Messier.

I think it takes more than one player to win a game. He can be a leader but if the goaltending is not sufficient.. or scoring is hard to come by.. you can't do it all yourself. But we shall see who they pick. I'm sure the Sens scouts have been all over Canada to the CHL games and know who they like...I'll trust their judgement.

Yeah, I like The Skog, but I think that is flak leaked by the organization to try and hype the him so that they don't get scooped on the guy they actually want. I think they are afraid that Strome will move up to number 3. From the sounds of things on this board its kind of a toss-up between who would be better between Strome and Huberdeau. Neither Skog or Couturier seem to have the upside that those two do. So since there is no possibility (other than the lotto) of picking RNH or Larsson, I'm pretty sure they want one of those two guys. And nobody on this site has seen both those two players enough to say who is better. I'll leave that to the scouts. But it is scary to think of picking Skog since I agree that he may just be successful becuase he is full-grown in a boys league.

Funny how Landeskog is such a great character guy and leader and he's the only one of the top 6 who isn't playing anymore - not much of a leader. A real dominant player in jumior usually carries his team through the 1st round at least. Lets see Huberdeau is on the number one ranked team in the country - lost what 9 games all year. Have family in St-john and this guy is something else. Gritty and has all the tools. We'll see. I think SENS are playing possum. Haven't mentionned him too much.

Very possible. I almost put him in that slot actually. But that's kind of a trendy pick around here, so I thought I'd change it up. I like Catenacci, and I think he's a very solid sleeper in this draft. He's had to suffer through playing on a brutal Sault Ste. Marie team. He's small, but seems strong and in very good physical condition, and amassed over 100 PIMs this year. Also, lets not forget he was the fastest skater at the prospect game this year. Daniel Catenacci 67GP 26G 45A 71PTS 117PIM I like Puempel though, he would also be a very solid pick. I REEEEEEEEAAAAAA AAAALLLLLLLLLLY YYYYY think we should trade up/ down to get Jamie Oleksiak, depending on how well he does. You can't go wrong with having a giant on the blueline

@Tony You are correct in that, we have fans have been use to a high-flying, high scoring, exciting team (until the last couple of years that is). It's difficult to see how they 'fell'... but it happens to a lot of teams that miss some drafting years or bad drafting to keep up their young players development flowing into the NHL. That's what Ottawa went through for close to 6 yrs. The college guys (yes some are Muckler's) are starting to turn pro. Louie Caporusso will be the only other one this year.. and Murray indicated in the season ticket holder meeting.. he will most likely be in Binghamton. Wacey Hamilton will most likely end up in Bingo as well -- and maybe some other over ager CHL player that was undrafted (should the Sens sign one)... thinking Thomas Nesbitt of the '67's.. I think he might be a good signing for the Sens. Most likely an AHL player.. but you never know.

Of course the Sens "like" Landeskog. Isn't that like saying the club would have "liked" to keep Chara? In any case, good for them. Though I'll be the first to admit I was hoping for a good hard tank job to finish out the season, I'm proud of the way the boys have played down the stretch and I'm excited to see them play again next year. I want to see what the younger guys can do with a full season here, and with our stockpile of draft picks I'm also hoping for a good influx of new guys on the farm in Bingo. Totally not against Murray coming back in an advisor role, if not extend him for a year. It's exciting to watch the Sens in game. As fans, maybe we grew a sense of entitlement after years of good player performance and playoff appearances. I'll support a loser that's learning how to win. GO SENS GO!

Yeah pretty much every time you post you confirm yourself to be a complete moron. If Huberdeau = Spezza he'd be ranked 1st overall and would have separated himself from the rest of the draft class the way Spezza and Kovy did in 2001. Honestly Ottawa trading up doesn't make much sense to me. The top guys in the draft haven't separated themselves from the 5-6 guys enough for it to be worth parting with a significant asset. The guy taken #5 or #6 could just as easily turn out to be the better player. . Tryant, this is by far your dumbest post of the day. This shows how little you really know. I bet you don't own any mirrors cause there is no way you could look at yourself in one.

Hard to tell, they both played in different leagues at entirely different times. The Q is known as not being as strong and competitive as the O. Also, if Huburdeau is Spezza-like, we would ave heard about him for years now. Jason Spezza was the very first player ever to have gotten exceptional status for the OHL draft. Only 3 players have EVER done that, including John Tavares and most recently 15 year old Aaron Ekblad. Huburdeau just broke out this season. Also, Spezza participated with the Canada Junior National team, of which Huburdeau did not take part. Different players man. Oh, and Huburdeau won't be a number one or even number two pick.

@conor smythe Calling the OHL a league of boys is a bit of a stretch. I don't know the exact breakdown but I'm willing to bet that the majority of players are in fact older/just as big as Landeskog. He will need an adjustment period to adapt to the skill and size at the NHL level, but who are any of us to say he can't become a Chris Stewart type player with leadership abilities. It would be nice to see him in an Ottawa uniform, although it seems unlikely at this point.

Anyone know why Da Costa was kept to 7 mins last night?! If he's a top-6 type player, why did he get minutes like Wick's? Anyone know what line he played on? This is why I hate Clouston. See what Shannon did with good minutes, the guy clearly has offensive ability more than defensive ability. So it seems like a waste to play Da Costa on line 4. Try him with Michalek and Greening or something? That leaves you Spezz with Mutler and player-X

If they were so focused on getting Landeskog why the hell hasn't Mike Brodeur been in our net since the day Anderson signed his extension? We'd be talking about 1st overall if we'd done that. Ridiculous.

Huberdeau 6'1" 171 lbs, a year younger, and with more points = more potential ALSO, Huberdeau in his rookie season (this year) has 7 less points than Landeskog had in TWO SEASONS combined. duhhhh its a tough decision if you ask me..

Yeah, I'm afraid you don't know what you're talking about when it comes to prospects. Huberdeau is over 6 feet and will fill out just fine. He doesn't play a completely soft game, either. You're obviously just shitting on one guy because you'd prefer another, which is unnecessary. Personally, I don't think Landeskog has any advantage over any of the forwards available in this draft besides his physical maturity, and that advantage will evaporate when everyone else catches up in terms of growth. @John Q, I think if Matt Peumpel is around for our NSH pick, we'd be crazy not to take him. Guy is a sparkplug with decent size and has the best shot in the OHL, maybe even the CHL.

Why? The best guys in this draft are only expected to be as good as the guys they gave up!! LMAO there really was no point at all to tanking for that team, they gave up a surefire top line and verging on elite winger, a #1 goaltender, and a defence prospect who is developing very well for a draft bust and Brian Elliot. They won't get anyone in this draft worth Chris Stewart, Craig Anderson and Kevin Shattenkirk.

I believe Edmonton and Colorado both want Larsson. If Edmonton take him with the first pick I could see Colorado trading down to take another dman at number five or six. I'm not generally a big fan of spending assets to move up in the draft but I'd be ok if they moved up to take Nugent-Hopkins at number two. I'd be pissed if they passed on RNH to take Landeskog. I also believe thst if Colorado make a selection with the second pick they'll take Landeskog because they're set at centre ice with Statsny, Duchene and O'Reilly. If this happens I can't see Florida trading away the chance to draft RNH with the number three pick. We really need to win the lottery.

The Islanders are in much the same bout ... they desperately want a new arena and seem to be threatening the local authorities with moving. I think however there is an equal part of inneptitude here as prolonging their "suckiness" will put them at risk of losing Taveres. DePietro might be willing to take his cash and force an injury every now and again so he doesn't have to stand on the ice and be embarassed, but JohnnyT will walk if the team doesn't start winning. The Avs seem to have been created with purpose to fail.

basically CC is who i blame for our fail tank attempt for. especially last night, we got da costa, and we were expected to give him top 6 forward ice time (so 15-20mins) but no numb nuts CC gave him roughly 6 and a half minutes instead. but thats only 1 game against a failing philly team that has not been doing well at all of late. Im just excited that we get a new face behind the bench next year. and IMO we should keep BM as a senior advisor for drafting (he is one of the best drafters and college signings.) and we need a new GM that can do real trades (although i know BM saved his a$$ with his excellent trades this season). i hope we can see kirk muller behind our bench next year, his family lives some where near london ontario, and he wants a job as a coach. i think if we give him the offer, he will really be interested.

I don't think players tank. It is just not in the nature of hockey players to not try to win a game (unless out of spite because they hate their coach). Nor Coaches; their livelyhood depends on winning. Management on the other hand will through design, inneptitude or a combination of both. I get the feeling that Florida either doesn't know what they are doing or they are purposely devaluing the product to facilitate a move to a new city. It has gone on too long to be about high draft picks

Out of those 5 Strome is the only one I could see definitely still being there at 4, so maybe he's the real target. I'm still good with any of those 5 though. RNH is the one that may need more time to grow, the other 4 could all have a role in the nhl next year.
It's hard to say Edmonton is "tanking". They are missing some serious firepower in Hall, Gagner, Hemsky, Horcoff & Brule. It would be hard for any team to compete while missing that kind of talent. Colorado are just bad right now. Management has made them horrendous. Same with NYI ... they are SNAWU (Situation Normal, all Wang-ed Up)

Landeskog really makes too much sense (Swede, future captain). He is basically everything this team needs. I think giving up Nashville's pick to move up for Landeskog is too much, but I can't say that I would be upset, I think Landeskog is a safe and sure bet and there is some value in that. Given our dominate second round of picks, losing the Nsahville pick wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, especially if they make it through the first round (GO PREDS). As I've said all along, I truely believe that this club is committed to getting whatever player they want no matter how we finish and I think the better play of late is even more incentive to make a move to get THE guy they want. Biggest question I have, is Landeskog guaranteed there at #3?

Some time ago (I think when we were looking at a 1 or 2 pick) Murray said quite clearly he wanted to draft a player who could contribute next season. Landeskog's the only guy in the draft (outside of Larsson from what I hear) who 100% fits that description. He's also a very Murrayesque player. It's not a surprise they want him, the question is how much. At this rate we won't get him without trading up.

Thanks for the clarifications regarding the lottery. So in a nutshell, ONE of the non-playoff teams will "win" and move up 4 spots. Everyone else will be adjusted based on that one change. The lower you finish in points, the better chance you have of winning the lottery - but for all we know Calgary could be the one movin' on up.

Don't know about you guys, but I'm gonna watch the draft lottery Tuesday at 8....thinking about going to a bar and maybe crushing some pints as well. Any suggestions as to where would be a good Sens bar (I don't want to go to a bar that is playing premier league soccer, thus not having the draft lottery on). James st??? thanks
